The workers were very rude and dismissive. They wouldn't make eye contact to take my order and one was on his phone. My cold brew iced latte had way too much milk in it (I frequent Peet's in my college town so I know what it's supposed to look like) and I politely asked the barista if they could add a bit more cold brew. They were annoyed and asked me if I knew how a latte worked, I said yes but was taken aback at their tone. Just a huge thumbs up to the barista working Saturday morning who kept it together and handled the situation with grace while an angry white man screamed about having to wear a mask and really acted shamefully. We were right behind him in line and it was pathetic. The barista should never have to endure the verbal abuse this idiot spewed and never lost his cool. Really good job. We've been going to this location on Saturday mornings and the staff is always amazing and friendly, and they get your order out super fast. I love the different cold brews they feature and have tried several out. Peet's warms my heart. coming here brightens my day every single time. They have the best chai, better than literally every single chai I've had elsewhere (ex. Caffe Nero and Quebrada, and obv starbucks who uses chai syrup) and with soy milk it is just chefs kiss. And love every single employee who works here they're all so sweet, shout-outs to Sam, Cassidy and Misa, who I see the most. They've had many rotations in the food they sell which is cool too. Great place to go and get a coffee and croissant. Coffee is way stronger than Starbucks so it really gives you a kick in the morning. Lots of seating but it's always busy with Lexington locals so you may not have luck getting a spot. Walked by Peet's and figured I'd stop by because a) I have a gift card that I rarely use and b) I was tired and wanted to take a break and avoid the rain. There were a couple empty tables left when I got there (weekday, late afternoon), and the service was quite speedy. Ordered a chai latte. It was pretty good - a tad sweet for me, but it could've been from the soy milk I requested. it's a nice place with nice people, though they tend to have new employees alot who don't really know how to make lattes or the more sophisticated drinks. This is my first time into Peet's. I like their decor which is similar to Starbucks. The baristas are nice and friendly. I ordered an Iced Tea - Jasmine Lime Breeze Cooler. It tasted much more like a lemonade than a tea. Very refreshing for a summer day. To go along with it, I ordered a croissant. I absolutely fell in love with it at first bite. It definitely tops Starbucks'. It's moist and buttery. Reminds me of Montreal. Too bad Peet's is not as widely available as Starbucks else I'd be doing croissant runs every other day! I like coffee. I have also be known to say "half caf latte with almond milk on ice" which might not be coffee. While there are other coffee shops nearby, including the non-chain Ride- I consistently get up on sat and Sunday and wait for Peet's to open. The staff is super engaging and friendly- great mix of employees. The store is clean and was recently renovated. It smells like real coffee. They pull a good shot of espresso. They have multiple non-dairy choices. They attempt latte art sometimes. They even have an app. Despite being a chain, this place feels real and generates positive energy for Lexington town center. read more

Had a sub-par experience at this morning. The coffee was way too hot and diluted (worse than McD's), they kept forgetting my order (medium drip and an toasted almond croissant for here), and the store manager seemed to be overly eager to get me out the door. I had to interrupt her eager shooing to remind her of my pastry, which they hadn't even thrown in the DD-style rapid toaster. The place wasn't that crowded for a Monday morning, so I don't understand the substandard service and quality. I have lived in Lexington for 3-1/2 years and I have bought coffee from them even before they renovated about approx. 6 months ago. Peet's in San Fran was always good for coffee which is a little better than Starbucks but over here, they are actually not as good. The service at the counter has always been OK - nothing stood out as particularly great and there is always a different person every time I was there except for an older guy in his 60s (I think) who was there for a couple of years but not lately. The latte is always too hot - to me it should be about 60deg C or 140deg F - drinkable, doesn't burn the lips, etc but they make it HOT! Not my cuppa at all. When they closed for reno, I was actually quite delighted as I thought they would have new improvements but alas, everything is still the SAME except they have more art on the walls. Fortunately for them, there are not many great cafes in the town center - Starbucks, DD and Ride Studio which IMHO has its own issues so they are A-OK for now. I think we need Haute coffee over here to shake things up. read more

This Peet's is great. The baristas are friendly. The coffee rich and flavorful. They have free wifi. The only negatives - unfortunately, because this Peet's is so popular, the place if often full so finding a seat may be difficult. My go-to local shop. Friendly service and the beans are great for brewing at home. Ordering via the app is easy and your order is ready when you show up. Sometimes beans run low at the end of the week but the app tracks which beans are available for purchase. In the summer months they leave a water bowl out for dogs. I hate this Peet's. I grew up in Lexington, and every once in a while I would give Peet's a shot, even though there's a great Starbuck's 3 doors down. For one, I don't like the coffee or the food. The coffee is too bitter, YUCK. Plus, it's a big chain like the 'bucks, so going to Peet's isn't like hitting up your local indie coffee shop. They don't believe in independent coffee in Lexington. How about opening a couple of bars and closing some of the 2,000 coffee shops? Really, the opportunity that Peet's has to redeem itself is cleanliness and comfort. I came in for a coffee, not an argument. I asked for an iced coffee, but the barista made it hot. When I gently pointed out that I had asked for an iced coffee, he rolled his eyes, shook his head like a two year old and said, "Nooooo you didn't." "Yes, I did." He begrudgingly remade the coffee. The mistake was no big deal, but I really don't appreciate being argued with simply because he did not hear me say the word "iced," and the cashier didn't specify "iced" on my ticket either. The coffee is a bit overcooked, so it was bitter, but their pastry selection was decent. The staff was friendly and it's very clean. It's a little small, and there's very little room for sitting. I'd say its on the level with a good Starbucks,(less expensive with better coffee) definitely better than Caribou Coffee. I enjoyed a coffee, and a cranberry scone. Store manager at Lexington, MA, Ike, is not friendly at all. Apparently, he is not an animal lover and treat customer badly. It happened on 7/21/2021 around 3ish pm, We asked an employee there if we can bring in the dog, he said "yes", so we brought in the dog. There was another dog inside kept barking at my dog when we walked in and my dog did not bark back. When I was sitting in the chair with the dog, the store manager over the counter, Ike, asked me to leave. At the same time, my friend was ordering the coffee by the counter. Then there was a dog passing by the window, my dog barked at him only once, then Ike said to me loudly over the counter " I asked you to leave" - such a mean person saying it! I am a Peet's regular and go locations on both coasts. Yesterday's visit was highly disappointing. The overweight gentleman working the register was really unprofessional. I had a feeling this would be a one star exchange when I saw him scratching himself in front of customers. He miss-heard what I had to order couple of times and his comments were not friendly and highly irritating. There was no greeting when my turn arrived or thank you when he finally figured out our very simple order. Terrible customer service. I would recommend complete re-training of this staff as he will cost your location customers and brand it's loyalty. read more

There are so few places in Lexington where you can find both good coffee and conversation. Peet's is that place. If you're there in the morning, you are greeted by the warm staff and promptly provided your provisions to get the day started. You will also find an interesting conversation happening with the regulars who are a permanent fixture providing rich texture compared to what you would find down the street at a ubiquitous coffee haunt. When visiting Peet's in the afternoon, there is a different rhythm you'll experience, yet it is equally as cool and compelling as with any other time of the day. Enjoy Peet's! It depends the day u come not all baristas care about making a good cup of coffee there are some that really use minimal effort and others that really care about the craft of making coffee. I usually find that weekends are the best time to come. My recommendation if ur up for trying something different is the black tie. Absolutely rude!!! I grew up in Lexington for a while and I've always gone to Starbucks through my high school years. However, this summer, I wanted to try Peet's and have gone more than a few times. The first few times, there was a very nice gentleman who helped me and was very patient with me as I took my time deciding what I wanted to get. I ended up liking the coffee here a lot and started buying coffee from here more often. However, yesterday, there was a special where you could get a free medium drink as long as you show a coupon either on paper or mobile device. I printed one copy for myself and told my dad to print 2 (for for him and one for my mom). However, when we arrived, we found out that he had lost his coupons. So I immediately went up to a young man (different than the inital gentleman), explaining my situation and asked if the three of us could use that one coupon (now, the coupon said one free drink per customer, not one coupon per customer). The young man initially agreed, and we got 2 fredos and 1 ice coffee (the 2 were for my dad and me, and the ice coffee was for my mom). However, all of a sudden, he charged us 2.60. I initially thought that was tax and didn't mind paying. However, when my mother asked, the man said that he had to charge us for the ice coffee! He then defended himself saying that he has already given us a free drink because that coupon only works for ONE customer-indicating that I should be thankful (for what? Saying that he would give us that offer and then immediately lie to our face 30 seconds later?). So immediately, I said, forget about the ice coffee and we'll just take the fredos. He then proceeds to make us our fredo. Now, I immediately went on my phone and was able to pull up the coupon. I gave my phone to my mother and told her to go back in line and get her ice coffee. She then waited in line and another man soon lined up behind her. Here's the really rude part. The girl behind the cashier has been ignoring my mother for a while already. We waited because she seemed like she was busy (taking her sweet time throwing away used coffee bean). However, as soon as a man lined up behind her, that girl said "How may I help you?" to the man! The man looked over to us and the girl immediately said "oh, they are all set!" without even looking at us! I was in complete shock. Luckily, my mother's not that proficient in English (and unlikely to have entirely understood the situation at the time) and proceeds to show the coupon to the girl, saying that she would like an ice coffee. The girl then looked at me and said "I can't do that because the coupon came from the same email." I then told her, "I did not get this from an email. It's a website open to the public." She then proceeds to ROLL her eyes at us and then said "FINE." My family and I are furious at the treatment that we've received here! I understand that it IS free. However, this is the company's special, and is not excuse for the treatment we've received. I did not break any rules (completely complied within the rules listed in the coupons). Additionally, I was not there the only time to get free drinks. I've been supporting that coffee shop for a while. Initially, I thought that I may start drinking from here more often (instead of my typical Starbucks). Now, because of the customer service here, I would much rather go down the street to Starbucks where the quality of the coffee is similar and the service is a LOT better. read more

This is a great Pete's. It's probably the busiest place in Lexington center. It almost seems silly to review it on Yelp because there's already quite a following. The staff is always friendly, and they seem to know many of the customers by name. Their coffee is incredible, and they have a great selection of teas (and desserts). Hands down the best place to get coffee or a snack in Lexington center. You just have to be lucky to get a seat (or go outside if it's nice out). read more

Peet's makes it hard to enjoy a cup of coffee from Starbucks. The coffee is fresh, strong, and has such distinct flavor. My go to is an iced caramel macchiato. The fresh pastries are delicious and refreshing compared to the pre-packaged ones that are offered at Starbucks or dunking donuts. I feel the prices are appropriate for the product. My only complaint is that my drink rarely tastes the same from visit to visit. This can be so frustrating. Certain locations seem as though they are always training a new barista and there is nothing worse than your beloved drink not tasting the same! I love the Lexington location as I have experienced more consistency here and always land a parking spot (knock on wood!) read more

Peet's in Lexington is a wonderful coffee house with arguably the best coffee in Massachusetts. They offer an outstanding and wide variety of gourmet tea and specialty drinks. The pastries are fresh and the quality is just excellent. The baristas are very, very friendly and always create a pleasurable atmosphere. Customers are often greeted by name and even with their drink of choice. Ordering your coffee is a delightful experience! Honestly, the staff consistently demonstrates their belief that the costumer's satisfaction is all that matters. It is a great place and I love going there. There are a fair number of tables and very pleasant seating outside. There is a very large parking lot in back. Hey, they even put a large bowl of water outside for their furry friends! P.S. I can't imagine why anyone would ever go to the Starbuck's down the street. It is the worst in every respect. read more
