I'll admit it, I'm a coffee snob. I don't say it with pride, more with resolve. Karma coffee is a coffee snob's dream, but it comes without the snobbery. The people here are kind and the shop is run well with great adherence to COVID protocols. This isn't a Dunkin, and you're going to pay a lot more for a cup of coffee, but in my opinion, it's well worth it! Tucked off of the road (look for the Papa Ginos and the small Karma Coffee sign to lead you to the back parking lot), this unassuming shop is mostly a roastery that doubles as an excellent coffee joint. We grabbed a cold brew and an iced latte and were thrilled with the high quality of the coffee. Smooth and not overly acidic, both the cold brew and the latte had some wonderful flavor notes and the beans didn't taste burnt. You can tell that Karma is roasting beans right. Went here expecting a premium coffee experience but coffee was mediocre at best. Slightly oxidized and maybe beans with some defects. Not worth premium price they charge, but may give another chance to see if they can improve. Hoping it improves. read more

Tucked away, this is what Yelp is great for. Definitely hidden gem of a coffee shop. They roast, and can tell you more than I need to know about the flavor profiles. But their passion for coffee comes through in the product...Best espresso drinks in the area. read more

First time here from out of town. I'm for Portland OR, got an 8oz cappuccino. The flavor of the espresso was delicious, the best I've had in Sudbury by far. This was exactly the kind of specialty coffee I was looking for. The layout inside was a little scuffed, could be a lot better, also not sure what's with the noon closing time. seems so short for a rural coffee shop. Subury Coffeeworks has people in it well past lunch time, but i suppose thats because they have food. All of that said 5 stars for pulling me a great shot of espresso with a line out the door on a Monday at 11:30pm. read more

I lived in Seattle for several years and fell in love with good coffee. Coffee has become a big part of our day. When I travel, I'm often disappointed by the lattes many highly rated coffee shops pull. So many are too hot, too milky, etc. I'm sitting here sipping a 3 shot latte and - mind blown. So great. I purchased a bag of Karma's beans and had some basic questions about the product and the roasting style, since it wasn't at all what I was expected. Specifically, I purchased a single origin Guatemala and found it to be a very dark espresso-style roast, not geared toward drip brewing (or "sweet citrus, milk chocolate body" notes as per their website). Sent them a message via Facebook as politely as possible about what to expect from that particular roast, and any brewing suggestions or other varietals that I should try. Was disappointed to find my message promptly read and ignored. I know this is a harsh review, but there are so many independent roasters in the area that pride themselves on the way they engage with their customers, and I have seen so firsthand. In fact, without that effort, there's very little to separate small roasters from the large-scale operations that are constantly threatening to take over. For this reason, I would direct my business elsewhere. read more

I have been going here' basically since they opened and I usually love Karma. But my experience this week was not as good. I bought 2 pounds of coffee, Brazil Legender Peaberry and Ethiopia Sidamo Ardi. I was told they were lighter to medium roasts, which is what I want. Especially in the Ethiopian bean. Both roasts were dark and oily. What a sin to do that to those wonderful beans. Also a waste of $40. read more

This place is amazing! My friend brought us here after brunch, because we definitely did not have enough coffee at brunch. I got a latte, and because it was our first time there, it was free! It inspired me to buy some beans to bring home to my Mum, so that she could experience how wonderful Karma is as well. It was one of the first warm days of the spring, so we sat outside and drank our coffees. Mine was honestly perfect - I wish every cup of coffee that I had tasted as robust, sweet, and nutty. My friend accidentally left her purse there, and when we got home and called them, they had already safeguarded it and held it for her until she got back. Simply THE BEST coffee to be had in Boston Metro West. Karma's artisanal blends of coffee are beyond the norm and other brands simply don't hold a candle to their robust aromas and flavors. And the experience at the roaster is beyond compare. Their menu is simple, but complete at the same time and I assume meets the palate of serious coffee drinkers - no artificial, seasonal flavors here nor any of the "concoctions" offered at other shops. Simply a celebration of the glorious coffee bean and all the flavors and pleasure it brings one. Really delightful spot! I've been by twice in the past week. Both times got a latte, first tome with almond milk, second time with oat milk. The espresso is delicious but a darker roast than I typically drink, so the oat milk was phenomenal! Prices are also good and the ambience was great too. read more

Well I used to be able to get two small cups of coffee when I bought 4 pounds of coffee beans to go (spending $70!) but today I am informed that I can only get one for my husband. Seems like a really petty thing to withhold from a longtime customer. Does the owner of Karma (who I've spoken to before in person, 4 years ago when he recommended a really awesome coffee grinder) know that the staff is doing this? If I had bought two pounds of beans, and then my husband bought two pounds then I guess I would have been offered a free 8 ounce cup of hot coffee too. Sad that times have changed at Karma. Also one other thing of note, when I bought beans when I first started coming here 5 years ago, they would OFFER me the free 8 ounce cup of coffee, now you have to ASK for it. read more

Karma Coffee Roasters makes suburban living bearable. A little slice of the big bad city, Karma roasts on-premises some of the finest coffee you'll find in the greater Boston area, and brews up magical beverages just the way you like. Walk in to the quasi-industrial space tucked in behind a Papa Gino's and next to a dance Studio in a blocky, GDR-style building and you are suddenly in a space more reminiscent of a hipster back alley joint than a suburban cafe-cum-roaster. Prices are reasonable. On a recent trip to Karma (I hit it every time I'm back east visiting the mom) there were assorted pastries for sale, various jars of locally made condiments and sauces, just-roasted beans, and, of course, heavenly beverages to enjoy there or on-the-go. David remembers his customers, and if he's not busy, expect him to chat with you a bit. Karma also supplies local restaurants with their beans. There's mail order, too, for those out of state or driving range who want to taste the magic they produce. Karma is, without doubt, the best thing about Sudbury. That and the roving bands of deer that eat everyone's landscaping. read more

If you think third wave coffee sucks, Karma is your place. I love that they haven't given in to fashion, which is at the moment all about bright, acidic, under-roasted coffee - think of Starbucks, then think of what the opposite would be, and that's third wave. Just terrible, putrid stuff. Karma does just what they do: they roast coffee the way they like it, right in between those two places. It isn't for coffee snobs who only want the greenest, not-quite-first-crack coffee in their mugs, but it is for everyone else who just wants a good tasting cup. The espresso is delicious, too! Not acidic or hard to drink, but smooth and honey-like! This is my daily cup of coffee, and has been for the last two years. I am very happy with it. read more

I have a love/hate relationship with this place. It's obvious they're serious about their beans, and have a great selection. They roast their own beans and store them correctly. All good. However, being meticulous about the beans, and then having a high school kid making the espresso left me with a bitter, ugly macchiato. No rosette, but burnt milk slopped with a spoon on top of some poorly pressed espresso. They can do better, and do if there's a barista behind the counter. read more

Karma Coffee is a jewel !! Not only are Dave, Ike and the rest of the staff amazingly friendly and knowledgeable, they roast the best beans I have found both locally and online. I buy their espresso blend regularly and add a pound of ethiopian, or anything they recommend for my espresso machine. Their beans are always fresh and perfectly roasted.
