My stars are mostly for the staff at this Peet's even though their drinks are consistently delicious too. I am partial to matcha lattes, but I have found that they actually have pretty tasty espresso. I would not usually think to mention a chain cafe on Yelp, but this one has such a warm, friendly local vibe that I can't help but love it despite anti-corporate sentiments. I live nearby and it has become like my second living room. Almost all of the staff seems to know my name and have my usual drink memorized, which makes ordering swift and easy. They are always kind and make special efforts to take good care of me. It is a pleasure to see them in the mornings when I am just starting my day. The cafe area is open and comfortable, especially now that they added big cozy padded chairs. I see a lot of regulars that do a European-style cafe sit here each morning. It is a friendly community and I've met a lot of cool people here. The one thing I wish they offered was hot food. I cannot deal with cold food in the morning, even though some of the things they have look kind of good, like quinoa kale salad or lentil salad. I wish they would make their sandwiches into paninis or toast bagels or offer some kind of breakfast burrito/egg panini/etc. I always have to go home to eat breakfast. read more

I have been here a few times a week for over a month. And I do love the service but I went there a few days ago and the young man that was by the bistro bar threw a what seemed like a childish temper tantrum. Another employee told me "my iced latte would be a min" where I said "I didn't say iced" he then thee the ice in the sink and threw the cup. It was so childish I can't even believe it. I am never going back to this location again and the manager hires and accepts this behavior. read more

I asked for an "extra warm" drink, and it was made "extra hot." I immediately told the barista that the back of my mouth had been scalded. I have red blisters on the (back) roof of my mouth and am going to Urgent Care. The store was nearly empty and there was no rush when I went in. I got no apology. The barista seemed indifferent. I have phoned the store three times and asked to speak with a manager. No one has phoned me back. Buyer beware! This happened at Peet's on Bay Avenue. read more

No veggie breakfasts, they run out so fast they said. Duh! Santa Cruz Also made crap soy lattes. And gave me a medium and were upset when I wanted what I ordered, a small. Won't be back unless desperate. read more

Walking distance from the Capitola Inn - a redeeming quality for the motel/inn that serves a continental breakfast with a variety of coffee drinks that you self-serve from a machine with the press of a button. If you know me, you know that Peet's is my coffee joint of choice so we were ecstatic to see the sign upon our arrival into Capitola. And if you need to do some grocery shopping, the Nob Hill about 20 steps away also serves Peet's inside. This location is clean with clean bathrooms and friendly staff . read more

Um - hello - I walked in and did a fist pump : the holiday drinks are back! "Eggnog Latte!" I cried with joy. The staff looked at each other with furrowed brow. "We're out of eggnog" said one to the other. " That does it! - I'm going to buy some right now" the other replied, and asked if I could wait 5 minutes. Off she went to the store to purchase more eggnog! On top of THAT amazing customer service the barista on duty made us a sampler Godiva Caramel Latte sample to try while we waited. These ladies rock. (and of course the coffee was the reliable Peets goodness it always is). read more

This coffee shop gets a lot of traffic & even then, if there's a line, it goes by fast. The staff here is always very friendly and they maintain the coffee shop stocked and clean. Highly recommend! read more

One of the baristas was incredibly rude and laughed at me as I left. Drink was up to chain standards.

I always enjoy a pleasing experience at this coffee house. The staff is polite and knowledgeable about their products. Service is noticeably quick. read more

Peet's Coffee - Coffee of the day - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Capitola, California

The best Peet's I've been to. To me, there usually isn't much to be said about a coffee/tea chain; however, these guys always make me happy. I can count on my favorite vanilla latte to be on point, and the wait to never be long when I'm in a rush. The cute employees even humor me sometimes and put up with my nonsense :3 read more

This morning I wanted to try this coffee place for the second of time and this girl (an employee) with glasses just stare me down in line without saying a word, I assumed she/ her whatever the hell was gonna help me she did in a way, after I payed she was no where to be seen so I left and waited for my order... she/they whatever came back for my sandwich I was just shocked of her customer service. I used to work for food service and sweetie if you're reading this ; If you are not happy working then FIND ANOTHER PLACE TO WORK AT!!! You look miserable as FUCK!!! I'll be going to Starbucks next time!!! read more

Painfully slow. They had 5 people behind the counter and 3 customers and it took 20 minutes to get a latte. No clear line so I got cut. Should have gone to Starbucks. Thank goodness this is not my neighborhood location. read more

I go to this Peet's location almost every day. I really like this location. Whenever I go, I am greeted by my name when I walk in and again when I order my coffee. The people behind the counter are always friendly and very courteous. The baristas, especially Alex, make a great latte and I have never had a bad experience with the coffee or the people there. Even when it's crowded, the line moves fast and you receive you coffee as fast as they can make it. Overall, this is a great Peet's location with a friendly staff and great coffee. read more

What a pleasant little Peet's! It's on the corner right near Nob Hill on Bay Avenue. They have a smallish patio and a round-shaped interior with a variety of table choices. It looks tiny from outside but feels roomy when you're inside. They have all the usual Peet's stuff -- pastries etc, plus gourmet/healthy packaged items like nuts, granola etc as well as their usual hot and cold coffees and teas and all the blended drinks. For tea you have a choice of loose leaf or bagged. Their whole-leaf bagged tea is actually not bad so you can feel comfortable sticking with that for the lesser price and still get a nice drink. Also they give two bags with your drink but if you only want one, they'll give you the second bag to take home:-) Peet's seems to be ubiquitous in many parts of CA now but we don't have it where I live so it's still a fun novelty for me when I travel. I like the quality and this particular one is charming enough that I definitely recommend it as a great place to linger with the paper and a second cup. read more

I much prefer it to "certain competitors" like a particular global chain not to be named. Across the board this place makes it. It falls short in that the pastry ain't great and it doesn't have a funky, coffee house vibe. read more

The folks at Peets are always friendly and helpful. Great coffee and tea and try their tins of cocoa. It's Dutch Processed and delicious! Plus it's dog friendly! read more

I like Peet's in general, but I love this location. The staff is always friendly, and very helpful when I call ahead with an order. The wait here is never long, but at the same time, I never feel rushed to place my order or get out of the way for the next in line. And of course, on top of the great service, my coffee is always fabulous here! read more

Batista was rude and snarky. I don't know if she just hates her life or her job, but she went out of her way to make snide comments. Your coffee is alright and if I want to download your app I will, but honestly I make my peets coffee at home and on rare occasions I go to a coffee shop I don't need someone telling me I need to save money. I am saving money by making coffee at home. Just ask people if they have the app and move on, don't be rude. By the way, I really like Lulu's coffee and they gave great customer service. read more

I was tempted to give this Peet's 2 stars just because the decor, ambiance, and staff were decent... but I couldn't do it. I go to coffee shops for good coffee, and Peet's doesn't do it for me. Their coffee, both times I've gone, was way too bitter. It's like their beans are burnt or something. The cups of coffee weren't hot either, just kind of warm. No amount of sugar could disguise the fact that their coffee just plain sucks. Overall: disgusting coffee and noisy, crowded location. Go elsewhere. read more

Make your life simple and just get a Latte. really, simple. They make the best Latte around and the people are pretty nice too! I love the outside patio as it is always clean. Thanks for that Peets, it really means alot to me that you care enough to keep things. They have wifi and the inside is fairly roomy. Sometimes you get some very very old crabby people in here, but I just try to give them their space and they simmer down! Old people seem to run the roost in Aptos! It is definitely a senior haven. Go to the beach and you will see the oldest surfers on the planet. Real old men surfing! Guess the Peets is keeping um going. Also Peets has the best coffee mugs for sale. Some nice designs. read more

This is by far the WORST coffee experience while vacationing. Not only are they SUPER SLOW, the employees have NO customer service etiquette. I entered to order a latte. After waiting 20 mins for my latte, I asked the barista about my order. Her response was which cashier did you make your order from? Does it matter????After they took another 5 mins to figure out which cashier register they order was placed, instead of just making my damn latte, I still had no drink in hand. I then heard the barista order the other barista to make a mobile order. Really?!?!? How about make my latte! I asked again when they would start my drink since I had been waiting 20 mins for a drink while watching the other customers that ordered after me receive there's! Rather than apologizing and starting my drink order, her response was they were tryin to figuring it out. This isn't rocket science! By this time I was ready to go to Starbucks! They have it figured out! And when they make a mistake, they fix it right away! Needless to say... I demanded a refund and went to get my latte at Good ole Starbucks! This experience made me realize why I never go to Pete's! read more

The five stars is for the customer service, the cleanliness, the turnaround time on drinks, and overall anything involving the humans that work there. Clean facilities, good restrooms, only a small amount of places to sit, the Internet I could not get to work with my Mac, and I'm a Mac tech. This is a good place to go to have good coffee, have a couple of tasty pastries, sit, and socialize. Not the best place for getting anything done productivity wise with technology. Pete's coffee has a distinct dark taste that may or may not be good to other people. That's coffee though, some people think Starbucks is amazing, some people don't. Some people thanks Pete's coffee and tea is amazing, some don't - five stars is for the facility and the people in the atmosphere. The coffee, that's up to you. read more

Ok, Peet's on Bay Ave. in Capitola, I'm gonna break it down for you... I was a semi-regular customer. I came in 1-2 times a week for lattes and scones for my wife, as well as for black coffee and ground beans for myself. Up until 12/27/14 at around 4:00PM, I was happy to call you my local coffee joint. I woke up at 3:45PM that day because I was in between two 12hr night shifts. I went to make some coffee and there was none. When I asked my mother (who was visiting for the holidays) where the coffee was, she told me that she was at your store, but the person helping her was so rude when she asked for a pound of "regular" coffee, she just left without it. I honestly gave you the temporary benefit of the doubt because you had been my go-to spot for years. I showed up to your store 15 minutes later with the intention of buying a pound of House Blend and proving my mother wrong. Unfortunately, that did not happen. There was a recognizable face behind the register. It was either Jamie or Shawn. Sorry, I can't say for sure which one because they can both be male or female names. Anyway, it was the female who helped me initially. (Side note: in my past experiences with her she has toed the line of being rude, but never actually crossed it) I asked for a pound of coffee, she asked which one, and I replied with "just the regular one" thinking that she would ask if I meant "House Blend". Nope. Instead of just talking with me for a second and selling me a pound of coffee, she became blatantly and insultingly indifferent to the sale. I was shocked. Then the male (mentioned above) came over and interjected in a very arrogant manner. When I asked if they would both just have a bit of salesmanship about the matter, he replied "well, you need to ask questions", in an almost superior and entitled manner. At that, I started to leave. From the door, I asked who the manager was, to which the male replied "she has red lips" as if he was not going to disclose the name. I asked the name specifically and he finally gave me one, Angelina. I will say however, I apologize for the f-bomb and for loudly expressing my thoughts concerning their customer service while I was at the door. That was uncalled for, but in my defense, I hadn't had my coffee yet. The bottom line is... You need to train your employees. Their customer service and salesmanship was absolutely disgraceful. To be completely indifferent to the fact that someone asked for a pound of coffee and somehow you did not make the sale (twice in less than an hour in fact) is mind blowing. Also, to suggest to the customer that THEY need to ask further questions to make the sale happen when they've already asked for a pound of coffee it insane. Especially when they said, "regular coffee" and you have one labeled "House Blend". Seriously, what is more regular than your cheapest coffee called "House Blend"? Furthermore, your employees can say whatever, but I know they were being difficult on purpose out of a sense of contempt for your customers. I have worked in bars, nightclubs, liquor stores, butcher shops, and other retail/service jobs. I know how much the general public sucks, people stiff on tips, don't say please/thank you, and often order in the most condescending way imaginable. That does not mean you can sink to their level while on the clock and it is also the reason why I always try to a pleasant customer, because I've been there. But, because of this absolutely uncalled for behavior from two of your employees, you probably won't see me again. Not that it matters much to you, I understand one customer is just a drop in the bucket. Not to beat a dead horse but, this is how it should have gone at a minimum... Employee: (Greeting/ask customer what they want) Customer: A pound of ground coffee please. Employee: What kind of coffee can I get for you? Customer: Just the regular one. Employee: We don't have one called regular. Is our House Blend okay? Customer: Sure, thank you. (Money and coffee exchange hands) It's a simple transaction, not rocket science. read more

The staff is not friendly to customers. I don't believe that anyone has ever said thanks, or "have a nice day"; there's minimal interaction with the customers. If you're getting a cup of coffee the order accuracy is probably fine; but even a simple request for "no foam" doesn't get entered or gets ignored at prep. I'm sure they'd remake it, but who has the time to wait. They should all rotate through the Los Gatos store to see how it's done right. read more

It's a great place to stop. Great parking, clean store, friendly service. I ordered a hot chocolate and I was surprised it was nice and smooth. I haven't been to a Peet's for a long time. Good deals on coffee, usually something fun (seasonal) to try, and the employees are great. Aside from the annoying coffee-loving fashionistas who watch The Devil Wears Prada WAY too much, this place is great...especially if you're trying to support companies other than Starbucks. read more

I go here almost every day! The baristas are friendly and competent. The coffee is consistently good. Sometimes it is too busy so I go to one of the many awesome coffee houses in town. Good location, clean establishment, friendly staff and good herbal iced tea. I'll definitely be back. :)

My boyfriend and I came to this location last night out of desperation. We were headed to a concert and stopped here for some energy for our big night. #1 - I wish I could've gotten the blonde chicks name because she was rude as f*** and her customer service skills were poor. Her coworker (couldn't tell if it was a man or woman) was also rude and gossipy when my boyfriend and I walked in. #2- Our coffee was DISGUSTING! My coffee tasted burnt and my boyfriends tasted like piss!! I've never liked Peet's Coffee but desperate times called for desperate measures and I ended up with shitty coffee and a bad experience. Boo to this location. read more

Peet's coffee is a fantastic place to go. My favorite part of this place is the different teas that are offered. Today there are a lot more coffee places but not enough tea places around. The Ti Kwan Yin is such a great oolong that everyone should try that one at least once. They also have a large selection of specialty coffees that are constantly rotated through the coffee of the day. You also can pick anyone of them to be ground and taken home. read more

I like this place. The store is big and a lot of place to relax both inside and outside. The place has unlimited wifi which is unlike other Peets we've been to. Not sure if it is a new policy across all Peets or just this one. We were happy about this anyway. We had tea, chocolate truffel cookie and a piece of marble cake. The marble cake is very moist with just right sweetness. The cookie is semi soft with a bit crunchy. We enjoy all the food and stay there chat and rest for about half an hour. Definite a nice place to relax and take a break. read more

Keep up the great work, guys and gals! Great customer service~ which is important! Great coffee....we buy a half pound every few days for fresh home brew. Update: Things have really gone downhill since the original review. I wish that baristas were better trained on the bar. It's difficult to get a consistent drink. 90% of the reason I spend $5 on a latte is because I cant make quality foam at home....but they dont take the time to do it here now either, so why spend the money? Also, the staff. Seems they've had another MAJOR turnover (sad, because they had a great crew for awhile). It's clear that poor management is to blame. And why is the manager such a moody jerk all of the time?!? Never a smile, never a "thank you " or "have a nice day." And they've gone corporate. No more original teas, long lines so they can make breakfast sandwiches....lame. I still get my beans here, but I've moved to The Ugly Mug for my drinks. read more

Typical Pete's coffee house. Stick to the coffee because their Chi Tea sucks because it is watered down and tasteless. The location is great if you don't want to go into the Capitola or Soquel village. It's open later than the Ugly Mug. The service is friendly. read more
