Much like the Peet's that my buddy and I went to in northern Maryland, this place serves some outstanding coffee. I ordered an iced latte with whole milk. My buddy ordered a mocha. Both drinks came out tasting awesome. Even though a latte is pretty simple, some places completely miss it. Well, this place is not like that. I can tell that their coffee is made of quality ingredients. My buddy had nothing but good to say about his mocha. This Peet's is located in a shopping center in northern Virginia. Parking can be found along the street, but is far easier to come across in the parking structure. I lucked out and found a spot just a stone's throw away from this shop. The workers are efficient in their service, and the place is clean. The ambient is peaceful, and the patrons are a fine bunch. I would definitely repeat. read more

Definitely a better experience compared to my previous one! I was able to give Peet's a few more tries, as this particular location is close by and quite convenient to pick up a drink on my drive to work. I still think that their 'specialty' tea beverages can be really good if they were consistent in terms of the flavor - it can still fluctuate from having a bitter/watery taste to other times, being extremely delicious and milky/creamy - it just depend on who you have for the barista when you come in. The staff here can also be a hit-or-miss - the baristas can be super friendly and awesome, but there are some mornings when the baristas are a bit stand-offiish and not in the most pleasant of moods :( I go between their Dirty Chai Latte or their Masala Chai Latte - so far, I remember one particular time when the Dirty Chai Latte was just on-point - it was just so delicious, as it had the right amount of chai spices, and it was creamy and lovely - definitely one of the best Chai lattes I've had in a while! The Masala Chai, which has more of a 'nutmeg-ish' taste to it, can also be pretty okay, if made correctly. I also request whole milk instead of the usual 2% to make it more 'thicker,' but not sure if that helps by much. This is a pretty small location, so when I came here seeking refuge from the rain, it got relatively full with people attempting to do the same. I generally don't get seasonal or flavored drinks, but decided to give one of the coconut flavored drinks based on a $1 yelp check-in discount for the seasonal drinks. Unfortunately, they were out of coconut syrup, and the super sweet barista offered to give me a dollar off of any other drink (unfortunately, I didn't catch her name). I told her I just wanted a drip coffee so there was no need to apply the discount. She went ahead and applied it anyway, so I was charged only 88 cents for a pleasant cup of coffee and an escape from the rain. Peet's is a welcome addition to Shirlington! While I was a fan of this Caribou before they changed into Peets, the Peets atmosphere and coffee quality are far superior. I used to go to their Cambridge, Mass location a lot in grad school, and I'm so glad they are now expanding across the country. Bc I'm a coffee geek, I've read up a bunch, and this is the brand that truly launched the coffee roasting and brewing revolution in California decades ago. They had a slower growth model to remain dedicated to quality and their process, which is why you see a certain green mermaid all over the world instead o In the remodel, they made the shop's long, narrow space flow a lot better, and it feels like the shop is even bigger! There are some small 2-top tables inside that fill up quickly with Mom's and strollers, senior citizens in a post-walk chat, and some workers throughout the day. I must recommend their cold brew coffee, because the brewing process is more time and resource intensive, cold brew has a crisp, bold taste. Cold brew coffee is free of the acidity and bitterness that 95% of iced coffees elsewhere. It's my go-to summer drink, and gives you that extra caffeine kick to help you zoom through the day without getting hot and stank mouth from hot coffee. Check out Peets! read more

I've noticed that every time I go to Peets, the price I pay for coffee/snacks is a different amount. So, I started asking for my receipt. What are you charging me for? Today, I ordered a small coffee and a breakfast sandwich, costing more than the last time I ordered it. "May I have my receipt please?.... Excuse me, I ordered a small coffee, not a medium.... Your advertised price is different than the price you charged me..... Did you increase your price for syrup?... Oh, you charged me extra for something I did not order." Peet's, I seem to be saying these phrases quite often now and it's becoming bothersome. I like you, I like you more than Starbucks. I like coffee. Coffee is ok. I was looking forward to Major Dickenson blend but it wasn't available at 6:00 a.m. Iced machata was pretty good. However, they said the cream would be on the side, it was not, and they charged me for Splenda! Really? It's Splenda, kind of goes with a $5 cup of coffee you think. Service was terrible. The young lady at the counter was rude when I asked about one of their pastries, it was my first time there and asked what it was. If felt that she was demeaning with her response. I was not rude or anything when I asked, because of the way she talked to me I only tipped her 10%... Shane on me I guess, there were two customers in line me and one more and they "forgot" to make my drink. After waiting about 10 min while they laughed and joked around with each other...I actually thought they were waiting for some coffee to brew or something so I waited patiently...they finally asked me if I needed anything, I said just the coffee I ordered... I love Peet's Coffee, which always reminds me of my days in Cali. This particular location is in a bustling part of Shirlington. I had quality iced coffee. There is not a lot of seats inside the coffee shop, and it can feel a bit tight but for others it might evoke a feeling of being in a cozy coffee shop. I wanted to like this place. The staff was friendly and helpful. I ordered a regular coffee which I find to be a good first impression of the coffee at any shop. It's not my favorite, I little to burnt and acidic. The prices are the same or higher than Starbucks without a standout reason or value. So overall I wasn't impressed, but I stayed to do some work and this was the downside. There is a lack of indoor seating, only one table has a plug near it, and that is next to the door. I sat there and immediately noticed the high top has a significant wobble and sway to it, enough to spill coffee and be annoying. Also the front door has a worn out fan system to keep the conditioned air in every time the doors open. It kicks on a very loud fan which is distracting. If the weather is good, and you don't need a plug, sit outside. Peet's is fine, but not a standout and needs some updating and adjustments to make it friendly to those who want to spend some time in the shop enjoying their coffee. read more

The coffee and staff at Peet's are always great! It's the perfect location to grab some caffeine in the Shirlington area, or after a trip to the nearby dog park. While I love the order ahead ability, I often like to enjoy my coffee there and work. The reason for 4 stars is that it's quite small, so if you go there with the intention of working, there may not be room. There is much more space in summer with the outdoor tables, but the last 3 times I've attempted to sit there I have had to head down to the library to work instead. read more

Love this place .. much better than Caribou and that is saying something. It's a little piece of home (San Francisco) smack dab in the middle of Shirlington. So happy it's here. The coffee quality is phenomenal and just as I remember it from back in SF. This location IS small but Im not a "coffee shop-hanger outter" tap-tap-tapping on my laptop - and it's much smaller in the winter since they dont have the outside seating. I typically don't get food at coffee shops like Pete's or Starbucks so i can't speak to the quality of the fare in the fridge case. The folks there are awesome too. Genet and Lisa are fabulous but service can get slow as it inevitably does with people ordering overly complicated coffee drinks with a dissertation preceding the order. So, for those of you that are overly pretentious and order coffee with more than 3-words be prepared for inconsistency and disappointment - life in general will be hard on you, so don't take it out on coffee places that dont get you're medium-non-fat-soy-vanilla-(lite on the vanilla)-latte perfectly to order. Try a "large coffee" - you'll be surprised at the tastiness of the actual coffee flavor. The employees really hustle so I'm a huge fan of this place. read more

Been here three times this month w my kids for blended tea drinks and they are great. I usually prefer another big name for coffee and unflavored lattes but the black tie drink and these blended drinks are much better than theiroptions. The One thing I don't like at the two locations I've been to at peers is that inevitably some glitch happens with my order. Either they are out of an ingredient or they charge wrong or get order right but make the wrong sized drink. In the four times I've been to 2 different peets recently only one time (today) were my drinks made correctly or my charges right. read more

So mad I checked in after I ordered!! They had $1 off pumpkin coffee....I bought a small cold brew pumpkin spice. They filled the cup to the brim leaving no room for my cream and sugar. A cozy and pleasant Peet's Coffee in the middle of Shirlington village. It is well placed at the intersection of the main street of shops and has a decent amount of floor space given its extremely dense locale. Lots of things within easy walking distance and a good amount of seating given the size of the place. However it is rather small, as with all things in Shirlington and really Arlington in general, and so it's not overflowing with tables - but has just enough - and has apparently just two outlets. Spoke to the manager, Erika, who agreed that one penny is essential to Peet's corporate accounting. While I'm constantly hearing people rave about Peet's superiority over Starbucks, I can't say I agree. The baristas were sullen and not terribly helpful with questions, and on top of that, were absurdly slow in making drinks: between four to six minutes would pass between each drink being delivered to the end of the line. At that point only the drink was announced, no name had been collected. Adding insult to injury, I clearly saw my drink being made incorrectly, but having already waited over fifteen minutes for my Earl Grey latte, I decided not to protest and thus have enough time to drink at least half of it before heading over to the movies. read more

My all-time favorite coffee chain is now my favorite, and lucky for me neighborhood, coffee bar. I gave up coffee over 2 years ago and was suffering through the tea offerings from the previous company Caribou. They changed this past fall to Peets and I am now on first-name basis with most of the baristas...the staff are excellent and love our little village of regulars. I came here today for a drink that would quench my thirst from an earlier, very salty/savory lunch. Peet's did not disappoint! While I still miss Caribou Coffee, I am glad this location became Peet's and not Dunkin' Donuts or Starbucks (there are way too many of them in the area; we need some diversity). Anyway, I got the hibiscus breeze iced tea cooler. It had a wonderful hibiscus flavor with a hint of spice (possibly cinnamon). I really enjoyed it. I also tried the iced coconut macadamia latte. It had a great natural flavor of smoky macadamias and coconut, and the best part was that it wasn't overly sweet! You could actually taste some bitter coffee which was great. The staff was fine but maybe a little shy or timid... Not sure how to explain it. It could be because this place is somewhat new, and the cashier, etc. just need more time to become bubbly. The drinks were made super well, though. I'm glad the cashier asked what kind of milk for the latte - typically people don't ask the customer that! The space itself is super small which was kind of annoying. I was lucky to get a table, but it was very crowded (this place is popular!). It also seemed the cup sizes were smaller than other coffee houses - I got a medium tea, and I finished it very quickly. Bottom line: I am glad I stopped by here today. The coffee is really good. I wish that they covered up their baked treats so that flys and nats do not swarm them when their doors are open in the summer. This is gross so beware of this. I tried to suggest to the cashier today that they put 1 item out for display and cover the rest. She just acted like it was not an issue and that I should not buy them if I did not like the flys. There are simple solutions to increase sanitation of the baked items. I hope the manager reads these posts. read more
