They managed to give my 19 month old toddler the fastest haircut of his life. He walked in, chose a fun chair (car, airplane, etc.) and the stylist went to work. I'm not joking when I say she cut his hair in 5 minutes. He was so distracted by Cars on the TV in front of him and by the fun things for him to play with, that he let her cut his hair without any fussing-- something we've not been able to accomplish while cutting his hair at home. The haircut wasn't great. It's exactly what you'd expect from a 5 minute haircut. But it was exactly what we needed-- his hair to be shorter without much fuss. The stylist didn't seem to care about his haircut other than jumping in and out quickly. If I was pickier, I would not have been happy, but then I remember that cutting a wiggly toddler's hair is a near impossible task. But Peek-a-Do managed to do it, so kudos. read more

This salon is under new ownership. Ms. Donna was amazing with our toddler's first haircut! (And she is way, way better than this mama's at home attempts.) She was so respectful of our toddler, asking him questions before she put on the cape and sprayed his hair with water. She engaged him and asked for his help throughout the haircut, asked him to put his hair in a baggie, and tilt his head around. She played paw patrol and used a mirror to engage him. And she was so, so, so fast. Our guy got the best hair cut while he was still happy and engaged because Ms. Donna was so professional and amazing with him! Her salon was personal, clean, and perfect for littles. We are thrilled to have a spot for future haircuts. Thank you so much!! read more

I've been there twice and both times we've walked into an empty salon and they told me they couldn't take us for another hour. Each time several stylists were sitting in chairs playing on their phones, so it's a little hard to believe both times we were there just happened to be right before a mad rush of customers! The only reason I gave two stars is because the one time we did get a cut for our son, Maggie did a nice job and talked to him through everything which I thought was very age appropriate. The cut took about seven minutes - another reason it's hard to believe they really couldn't accommodate a walk in appointment. read more

The new owners are racist would bring their views into work often calling minority's racial slurs. A handful of people quit over the years because of Donna and her daughter. Yes the old owners were aware. read more

My two year old son has many great qualities but tolerating haircuts (at least in my attempts at home) is not one of them. We even got a flowbee. (Yes, they still make them! And no, he was not having that. At all.) Much screaming and arm flailing has transpired. When I got notice that his "school photos" were coming up, the thought of the unfortunate crooked bowl cut I gave him being captured in perpetuity made me finally cave and bring him here. The pros: It was easy to get an appointment, and the whole process went amazingly smoothly. He played nicely in the playroom in the back while waiting his turn, then picked out a car to sit in. The stylist was patient and responsive. He initially squirmed a bit, but then I realized there were lollipops to be had--once he got a hold of one of those suckers (haha!) he focused all his attention on that and sat quietly and still for the entire haircut. The cons: His bangs did end up a little crooked once I got him home and they were completely dry (though to be fair, they looked straight to me when I eyed them up at the salon!) Overall, I was pretty happy with the experience--$22 is a little steep for a child's haircut, but they did do a decent job given that they need to work pretty quickly. My son had a great time, and I'd go back for another haircut (plus I'm sure he'd be happy to return for more lollipops!) read more

After a few visits, I have finally given up on Peek-A-Do. In our past visits, we've waited for 20-30 minutes past our apoontment time while getting a lecture about being late (we weren't, others were). We've been early and been scolded for arriving early. And last night, I was refused service for being 5 minutes late (not 6 minutes, literally 5 minutes). I went to Great Clips instead. They had a booster seat, a toy helicopter, a gentle hand with the 3-year old, and even a lollipop at the end. The actual cut was better. And it was $12, half the price. That's the real reason the Peek-A-Do people are so bitter and grumpy. read more

Donna and Brittany the new owners are very racist and would bring their racist views into work/ confederate flag or racial slurs would be used to talk about clients once they left. I included dona and Brittany Facebook posts about they feel about minority's. Trump voters. Racist mom and daughter company! Come get your racist haircuts by two trump voters who never hid or toned down their trumpy beliefs at work read more

Not a good experience; not a good haircut. My wife was greeted by someone who begrudgingly agreed to cut our son's hair just as soon as she finished her lunch. Sorry to bother you with our business! Probably should have left then. When my son got home, I noticed the back of his hair was uneven. The line around the ears had completely uncut patches, so we spent another hour at home evening things up. The crown of his head was really long on one side and nearly a buzzcut on the other. Does the state of North Carolina not require some form of licensing to be able to cut hair? You'd be better off having a blind person cut it than go here. F- read more

My daughter got her hair cut there and they didn't do a good job! I had to go back later that day to fix it but they still made her hair cut crooked! It was a waste of $22. They were really nice about it when I returned though. read more

Made an appointment 2 weeks ago and they did not even had us in the system. Did not sing or do anything to help keep baby calm on her first haircut. April forgot to collect her first hair she cut on our baby. She did it until we mention something. The certificates are a joke... they are so little and does not look nice at all. overall very poor haircut read more

They do a great job with the kids. It's hard to get a child to sit still for a haircut but will the fun seats and movies to watch, this place is great. Plus, the promise of a free lollipop at the end always helps elicit good behavior. The stylists are always very patient with the kids and their squirming around. read more

Got my daughter a bob cut today from a long shag. The bob was great but the bangs are terrible. I asked for eyebrow length and showed a few photos and ended up with tiny bangs that stick out from her forehead because they are so short- inches above her eyebrows. On the plus side, The staff was nice and the play area is nice and they cut hair quickly while my toddler was happy in the airplane chair. read more

This place is super cute! The little antique boat, plane and cars were awesome--too bad my little man refused to sit in one. I had to hold him in my lap while the lady did a really great job of cutting while also trying to distract him. They brilliantly have little tvs at each station playing a kid-friendly video. They also have a great little playroom for before and/or after cut. My friend took her little man here for his first cut and they got a before and after photo, as well as a certificate and a lock of hair for just a little bit more added to the price. Wish we had come here for our first hair cut! read more

I recently took my 4 and 2 year old girls for walk-in appointments on a Saturday afternoon and was seen immediately. The woman who cut their hair was very nice and very efficient - each girl took about 10 minutes. The girls were distracted with the TV and with playing in the car seats. They had a well-equipped play area in the back and both girls loved the pretty braid and ribbon they were given, and of course the lollipop was a hit. The haircuts themselves were very good. I was happy with the quality and customer service. I am not giving them 5 stars because the place was dirty. Particularly in the back, on the way to the restrooms, you pass through the employee and storage area which were disgusting -- and I get that's a strong word. Filthy baseboards and walls and doors. The fridge appeared to not have been opened/used in sometime but packed with stuff. Hair tracked into the carpet. Generally unorganized and not well maintained. Granted that's not where clients are seen but clients have to pass by to use the restroom-- makes me think what they're cleaning just for appearence sake. And the play area was a mess, a big mess -- which I know it's a play area but it's also a representation of the business. Also, I know it's a nice area but $22 for a kids haircut is definitely pricey. I'll probably go back but I'm keeping me eye open for competitors. read more

This place has moved to a new location that is essentially a single room with two barber chairs. The cars and toys for kids are gone. The only thing that was child centric was a tv playing Cars credits on the cabinet. I showed the stylist a picture of the way I wanted my sons hair cut and showed her where his part had been cut in. Keep in mind that it has been cut in the same style for the last 6 months (by other people) so this isn't a NEW style. It's a trim of an already established style. She proceeded to quickly shave almost his entire head leaving a coif of hair on top. She didn't fade anything and she shaved so high that we can even try to fix it other than completely shave it off and start over. How disappointing! She never asked if it was okay. She rushed us out the door. Please save the headache and disappointment and money! I could've gotten a better, cheaper cut at great clips! read more

They really did a wonderful job. My son is 13 months old and got his first haircut...He was scared, and didn't want to sit in the cute plane at first, but with lolipops and cartoons he was soon soothed. In the end, his hair looks good, they were kind, patient, fast and it was only $22. Well worth it... read more

All I have to say is Donna saved my day. My 16month old sons hair was basically botched/scalped and I was in tears over how bad it looked (it was so long and surfer boy look before and i only wanted shaped up but previous person basically scalped it and had it very uneven) but Donna made my sons hair look so much better. She took her time, made me and my son both comfortable and was very compassionate to my situation. My sons hair looks 100 times better then it did. I never wanted it short but she did everything she could to blend it all in but still keep it long. She made him happy and made me happy. You could tell she cared and it made my day! Thank you Donna and Peek A Do for saving my sons hair and making my mini panic attack go away. read more

The absolute worst customer service ever and the hair cuts are mediocre. We used to take my almost 5 year-old here when Ms. Tasha still worked here and the service then was meh but Tasha was awesome. I recently attempted to take my son in for a hair cut on a Tuesday morning at 10:15. I checked their website and not a single appointment was booked for either of the two stylists working. I walk in and am told they are booked and cannot help us. I questioned that based on the fact that only one person was in a chair getting a cut and the other was doing nothing. I also inquired as to why the website was wide open with appointments to which I was not told sorry, I was told their online system was screwing up. No apology, no attempt to try and fit us in. Like it was my fault that their system sucks. I would absolutely NEVER go back here again. Try Sportsclips or Blue Bamboo both offer kids cuts for near half the price of this place and have service that is 1000 times better. read more

Avoid this place! We have tried this place 3 times and will never go back. They have done a horrible job on my now 3 year old ....it has taken me 3-4 times to try to fix the uneven mess that they call a haircut!! I don't believe they are certified! read more

Incredibly disappointed with their customer service. They were rude to us over a scheduling error on their end. Very unprofessional. This is not the type of behavior for any business to display, let alone one for children. read more

Avoid at all costs! They did a terrible job on my daughter's hair and the stylist was rude and rushed. They didn't even comb her hair and her bangs were cut way too short and crooked. I could have cut her hair myself and done a much better job. When I contacted the business about my negative experience they did nothing to remedy the situation. At least they give kids a toy and hair style at Snip-its...here we got nothing. read more

Donna saved the day! Not only did she do a fantastic job cutting my son's hair, she also fixed a terrible haircut for my husband without a second thought. She is clearly very proud of her work and willing to help when someone else does a bad job. read more

We tried this place once before, and they did a decent job on my almost-3-yr-old (though his sideburns were uneven). I tried them again last night for a simple "bang trim," with disastrous results. I think the stylist had her eyes closed when she cut my son's hair. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

When it was time for the first haircut I looked specifically for a kids salon, found Peek-A-Doo, went and loved it. We are African American and I requested a stylist with experience with ethnic hair and was paired with a great stylist by the name of Tasha. She was GREAT with my son who can sometimes be a little hyper but she played, sang and talked him through each appointment. However, maybe 8 or 9 months in, she was let go from the salon. I requested another stylist and was paired with a Caucasian lady which is not a problem but she didn't do a good job at all. She messed up his hairline and basically didn't touch the top and just thinned the sides out a little; my husband had to coach her through a proper haircut. Its not her fault but I wish they would have replaced our old stylist with someone who had real experience and knows how to cut his hair. We ended up trying somewhere else that didn't do well either. I really loved Peek-A-Doo because they were efficient, allowed us to make appointments and most of all are kid friendly. He has not done well in a traditional barber shop and the language they use isn't great for kids so I'm back to letting his hair grow out. Generally speaking, I love the salon but I just wish they were a little more open minded in their hiring practices as ethnic families need kid friendly services too. read more

My 3 year old son just had a haircut but all she did was shave his head which I could have done at home. The lady that cut his hair was complaining that my son was kicking her and she keep saying that she could not do his haircut. She keeps saying that my son is too big to be kicking and screaming. She does not have patience for kids. If my son could sit still in a haircut I could have taken him in any salon. I was hoping they could help me give him a haircut since they are a salon for kids but apparently they could not help me. read more

I took my 3 year-old daughter here today and we had a great experience! he salon is very cute and clean! Jennifer did a great job! She listened to what I wanted, was quick, and even did a cute braid with a ribbon at the end! We will definitely be returning again! read more

Heather is AWESOME! She is so friendly and gets my daughter to sit still her her cut. I highly recommend this salon :-)
