I strongly do not recommend taking your kids here for care. My son is 5 years old, and I have been…read morebringing him here since he was born. His primary care doctor is Laura Abeyta at the Golf Course location. We have never had complaints regarding Dr. Abeyta, but after what recently happened to my son, it is not hard not to question the whole practice. On July 10th I took my son to the Holly location around 8:45pm; as he was having symptoms of diarrhea and vomiting. The provider he saw at the time was Rebecca Webb. I had given my son pain medication prior to the appointment so he seemed okay so only a physical exam was given but no further testing was done nor medication prescribed or recommended. The provider stated it could just be a stomach bug as something is going around, so we then proceeded to go home. My son and I were going to be traveling the next day so I was very persistent with letting them know we would be traveling, and I was scared my son would get worse on the way. The following morning my son woke up with a fever and had exploding diarrhea, I then called After Hour Pediatrics back to let them know my son's symptoms had worsened and I asked if they recommend, I take him in to be seen again? They stated he would be okay to just "let him go through it". I listened to them. I trusted them. As my son and I are traveling he is not doing good. We were traveling to Juarez and as soon as we made it in, I took him to a doctor, and they stated he was not well and needed to be taken to the hospital asap... We immediately crossed over to El Paso and took my son to the El Paso Children's Hospital Emergency room where he was immediately checked in and properly checked, come to find out that he had appendicitis (inflammation of the appendix, if ruptured you can die or cause complications). Unfortunately, my son's appendix did rupture which caused him to have more complications during his recovery. During recovery he absorbed an ileus (where your small intestine becomes paralyzed causing bowel obstruction). My son had to have 2 back-to-back surgeries; he was in ICU for 3 days... He was hospitalized for 10 days. Thankfully to God, powerful prayers from family and friends, and the amazing El Paso Children's Hospital Pediatric team my son is healthy and alive. I just wanted to share my story because my son could have died... I do not want any other parent or kid to go through what we went through... Had I not taken the extra step he would not be here. I put trust in After Hour Pediatrics and they let my son and I down. I am very disappointed with the way my son was not properly attended here. We will not be returning to any After Hour Pediatrics, although it may not have been all the providers fault but my son has had complications of constipation since he was a newborn, I never thought anything of it but now with finding out what my son had, could this have been prevented had Dr. Abeyta done more throughout testing during the constipation visits and maybe would have had the surgery done sooner? and the provider he saw that night, seemed like she wanted to go home as she did no testing, no labs, no ultrasounds and no medications were given, nothing was done besides an annual physical exam, if that, then the following morning another provider basically was trying to get me off the phone and did not properly advise me. It seems like the whole practice could learn something from this. Regardless I feel like this could have been prevented by After Hour Pediatrics had they properly diagnosed my son. Please never stop trusting your own gut and always stay fighting for your kid, be their advocate.

When he asked about my diet…read moreand I told him my ethnicity, he paused for like 5 minutes, and then he stereotypically guessed "rice", by looking at my appearance and skin color during one physical checkup. To be honest, I haven't visited him since 2022. But during the last two or three physical checkups in the past years, he kept saying the same old advice, which was not super helpful and personalized. He also couldn't identify a life-threatening stomach issue that my cousin had back in 2018 or 2019. And so, my cousin had to go to Presbyterian Hospital for urgent medical care, and luckily he was treated well there despite a weeks long hospital stay. Anyways, at first, when HE WAS MY PEDIATRICIAN both at the old address (10110 Spain NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111) and at the current address (3825 Eubank Blvd NE A, Albuquerque, NM 87111), for more than 20 years, he was doing alright, and he was initially helpful. But eventually over several years, the quality of his care and assistance declined a lot. I don't know why the New Mexico Medical Board didn't strip him of his doctor's license a LONG TIME AGO, especially due to his incompetence, ignorance, and age-related downfall.

Dr Sumner is getting older, and as much as I respect him as a man & Doctor, he doesn't always remember past visits anymore. His Nurse Practitioners are awesome & friendly but you don't always see them as they have multiple offices. They have allergy testing right in the office for allergy shots. All of this to say, all of my teens requested of us to take them to a different office and we responded by doing so. Office is *always* CLEAN and friendly.

Pediatric... my teens still see pediatricians and will probably do so until they are 18…read more After Hours Pediatrics (AHP) has at least 3 locations, and is your same day (95% of the time) place to be seen. The offices sometimes fill up fast, so there are no appointments left. They are open until 10 p.m. so your child can be seen after standard "banking hours" or urgent cares are closed. Their Holly office has a bit contemporary in design- they use cement benches for parents' seating in their treatment & waiting rooms, as they are easier to sanitize. But they are not necessarily as 'welcoming' to some. Personally, I appreciate knowing they clean & sanitize often. In their treatment rooms they do have standard treatment tables for the sick child. Rooms are very basic in decor. Which can get boring to look at, but bring a book to read or toy to play with. Or if you have kids like mine they will entertain you with their humor... My teens have seen multiple doctors and Nurse Practitioners in the Holly Office. Each one is very attentive, listens to you & the patient. Asks questions to get to the reason of the visit. Helps where needed and sends you on your way. The only thing that would make AHP better is if they had their own X-ray dept. If they see you for broken bones they will have to "refer you" to your choice of hospital or ER X-Ray Departments, not to sit in the ER itself. Depending on the time you are seen by them. Clean office, friendly staff. I love our new choice in pediatrics...

A friend has taken their child to Bebe Care for many years and love it, I have no doubt they would give 5 stars. My goal is not to throw this place under the bus, this is just my honest feedback. I've had issues that required someone to call me back, there's been too many cases where I don't get a call back. This hasn't always been the case, but I've spoken to a couple of extremely rude receptionists over the past year or two. Enough to really get under my skin. We're dealing with my kiddo's health issues that they don't seem to be taking seriously. Issues that have been ongoing for years. Something in the clinic is not working. If your child doesn't have underlying health problems, maybe this is a good place to go. But if they develop something you may want to go to a place that can manage it better. We also had a covid test done there and we were supposed to get the results in a day or two, their office was busy and then the weekend came, but it still took days after the following week. We needed a negative result for our son to go back to school, so it was frustrating. I'm just not impressed anymore and I'm looking for a new place. FYI There's an app called ohmd that they urge your to use to contact them. In principle, it's wonderful. You can contact them about concerns, you can send pictures, etc but the app has never worked correctly for me. I'm not even docking a star for that, that is not their fault but just a heads up. I've tried it on several phones and it's never working correctly for me. Give it a try, I don't think they're terrible but I'm disappointed with my experiences in the last year to two years

NP Dr. Martinez, how can you tell my child: " Do you want to go back to school? Then you need to…read moreget vaccine A! Do you want to go to college? Then you need to get vaccine B!" The reality is that our school does not require Vaccine A, and the colleges we have looked into do not require Vaccine B. The way you presented this to my child led her to believe that she had no choice but to receive both vaccines in order to return to school and eventually attend college. Is this how you routinely speak to your young patients? Do you regularly present recommendations as if they are mandatory requirements? I also find it concerning that the conversation focused so heavily on administering additional vaccines without clearly distinguishing between medical recommendations and actual school or college requirements. Parents deserve accurate, transparent information so they can make informed decisions for their children. Based on this experience, I have lost confidence in this clinic. I expected honest, evidence-based communication, not statements that my child perceived as misleading. This experience has caused me to question whether this clinic prioritizes patients' best interests, or mere profit.
