As owners of several other bike brands over the years, we had found the customer service lacking, and so were on the hunt for a new bike shop. We landed on Padego Santee based on the reviews here on Google, and boy are we glad we did! We were greeted by the owner Greg and his family, who were highly knowledgeable not only about the Padego bikes, but also on e-bikes in general. As enthusiasts, it was always difficult for us to interact with bike shop owners or employees who knew little or nothing about the products that they sold. It was like a breath of fresh air for both of us to talk to Greg, who is not only passionate about bikes, but about the brand he sells. After about 15 minutes of honing in on what type of bicycles we both preferred, we had found the perfect match. Greg and his son were so friendly and helpful that we felt at home, and he even recommended a special wheel lighting system installed by LightmeUP Lighting. We only had to wait a couple days until our custom bikes were all tricked out with lighting, new handlebars etc. When we arrived to pick everything up Greg personally showed us all the intricacies behind our new bikes, how to operate them and even rode with us to get some tacos down the street! I was on a walk when I literally stumbled onto the store in Santee. I had been looking to buy an e-bike and had previously conducted some research online. The problem with virtual shopping is you never really get to feel the fabric of the company behind the product and nor do you get to test it. In some cases that's okay but with a bike, I want to ride it, not to mention there are literally thousands of choices out and the price ranges are wide......can be overwhelming. This is a case of "you had me at hello". The first thing that struck me was how much inventory they had, a wide range from kids bikes to high end mountain bikes. I was greeted within minutes by owner, Greg Carter, and the first thing he did was ask me a series of question to gauge how I intended to use the bike, my level of activity and interest in riding, after which he paired me up perfectly with a Ridge Rider step thru, kinda of a trail bike meets road bike. I never felt like Greg was trying to sell me a bike, instead, he was providing me the right info needed to make a good buying decision; including the technology behind the designs, available accessories and the many uses for having a good time. I told Greg and his son Garrison, who was also very helpful and appeared to be the IT brains behind the operation, that I would think about it and let them know of my decision. I did a bit more research and whether I read a consumer report of some kind, a side by side comparison, or impartial blogs, all suggested that when you buy a Pedego, you are buying a quality bike. First of all if you're in the market of buying a quality electric bike go check out This shop it is awesome there's a huge selection of bad ass bikes there . . Anyway I called and told them about my flat tire on my daughters RAEV BULLET GT electric bike and he told me no problem they fix them and to bring it in when I can so I loaded up the bike and headed there . When I got to the shop I was welcomed by 4 people all genuinely friendly accompanied with a good vibe , and then one of them offered to help me load the bike out of my van which was awesome because it's heavy lol . Next he suggested that I don't need to spend a bunch of money on tube protection just a thorn proof tube which is what flattened the tube in the first place . That saved me a couple hundred bucks , which is rare nowadays . Usually shops want to up sell you and make the most money they can off of you . This was not the case here at all . So I gave him my info and he said there's 5 bikes before mine it'd be done at the latest on Saturday which was fine with me . This was yesterday . I got a call this morning telling me it was done . I'm stoked that was fast and relativly cheap . So I went back & picked the bike up and he helped me load it in my van which was great . I checked out the bikes they were selling there & I will tell you what when I'm ready for a new e-bike for myself which will be this summer I will be getting one from here . 5 star all the way. We started with a single bike for our eldest son , he uses daily to get to highschool and afterschool activities. The staff is always available, helpful and informative. We bought a second for our daughter and she rides to middle school in a breeze. They both love their bikes and now dad has his own because they have different styles and want to ride together on weekends. Love their bikes so much we invested in the bike hitch to keep them locked up and upright when traveling. High use here, we have a lot of hills and trails with uneven terrain but have had no problems. So glad we found Pedego and invested in these bikes. He came and delivered my bike when I first purchased it. My chain had came off, because of something I caused, and Greg the manager had come over and explained how to fix my bike and fixed it, and then my chain broke something that I caused it wasn't the default of the chain, and thenGreg came over personally and picked up my bike and he repaired it as well that's the best customer service I've ever had from any store that I had bought a product from. About twelve days ago I spent a couple hours a day for 3 days talking and riding different bikes. Interactions with the owning family and their staff was wonderful. Each person brought a different perspective to the 'sales' process. They are very enthusiastic not only about the bikes, but bike riding in general, and the local areas in Santee to ride. But the bikes themselves really didn't need selling. It was just finding the right one. Finally picked a "Boomerang" and some accessories. I am very appreciative of the patience shown me. Also note, after riding a few days on my own, I stopped in for minor adjustments. They have two maintenance stands and they gladly made the improvements. I was also welcomed to ride with them and some others. I've done that now and looking forward to additional trips. I've been on the bike daily now: Riding around Santee, Walker Preserve, Mission Trails, Trolley to Downtown and riding back along El Cajon Blvd, and around Lake Murray, just to name a few. I recently bought the Avenue at the Santee Pedego. I had test rode bikes at three other brand-name dealers. Unlike the other stores, on my first test ride Greg, the owner/manager at the Santee store, gave me an overview of the bike's workings before I took off. Several months later, I returned for another test ride and he gave me the same check-out and even rode with me to find a good hill to test the bike on. Several days later I bought the Avenue in the color and frame I wanted. It met all my must haves plus more valuable features. After I got home, I had trouble removing and replacing the battery (one of the features on my must-have list). I called the shop, and we did a Facetime call to try to resolve my issue. When that did not work, Greg dropped what he was doing, drove to my house which is at least 6 miles away from his store. He showed me how to insert my battery. This exceeded my expectations since most stores would want you to bring the bike back to the shop.
