I wasn't able to talk but I called them back within the hour to discuss the details. No one picked up. I left a voicemail that no one returned. The original voicemail I received included the study date and what I should do. So two days later, on the day of the study, I messaged them to see if I'm still signed up as a respondent. No one replied. Not even a courtesy "no, we found another respondent and the group is closed." I'm not sure if anyone actually works here other than the lady who called me, but in my experience the way they handled things was incredibly unprofessional. If this is how they treat focus group respondents, why would anyone want to commission a research study with them? They certainly won't get my vote if my employer, a large media company, ever needs a research partner.

They go home with more information about which way the wind is blowing on their products, you go home with cash. It's a win-win situation. Unlike the studies I've done at P&K and Adler Weiner, the focus groups at Fieldwork were a bit larger. About 20 participants were assigned to each topic, which can range from video games to taste testing. The particular session that I qualified for was about an upcoming commercial from a top financial institution. I was asked to rate several variations of the commercial using a dial (0 to 99 scale). Within an hour, I collected a $100 Visa gift card as compensation. I thought that it was neat to see how much work goes behind making a commercial, starting from concepts. At the end of the day, most of the work gets scraped and only one variation makes it to the tube. This result is driven by what the consumers and audience consider to be a "winning product". Test day can be very nerve racking…read moreso I suggest the following: 1) Make sure you printed out your testing form and that your name matches your ID. 2) Park on roof in structure 8. 3) Keep in mind LA traffic so choose either morning session or afternoon session that allows you to get their at least 30 minutes before your test start time. 4) There is a coffee shop called Cachi Cafe opens at 7am with wifi and plenty of tables where you can do some last minute studying. 5) Test specific advice---There is no MATH on the state exam so don't waste time learning math questions. When taking the exam skip questions and answer all the ones you feel comfortable with then go back to the ones you skipped. Computer will keep track of what you skipped. Just took my exam today and thought it would be helpful to leave a new review since most reviews…read moreare 2 to 3 years old. 1] Actual test is easier than Kaplan course and test simulations I used to prepare. 2] Questions are way shorter than in prep tests and more importantly, the answers have in most cases only 1 real option - I.e. the other 3 options are so far off. In test simulations you might experience a lot of Trick questions and 2 answers that might apply and you feel like guessing. The actual test is not as tricky! 3] No calculator or whiteboard or pen provided. Only a mouse! 4] No math question at all! 5] Learn the basics real well and have definitions and vocabulary down. 6] There are not as many complicated 'Transfer of Property', 'Finance', and 'Tax' questions like they use and confuse you with in the test prep material. Remember, you are not a lawyer or CPA (like they try to make you believe in the test prep material). The prep courses are harder than the test. This, if you master the prep test material, you will be fine in the actual test. Good luck. Hope this helps. P.S. I received a paper at the end that I was not supposed to open until I left the building. Surprise, no results, but a note to check online in a couple hours. Results were posted 4 hours later. I suspect that they implemented this 'delay' for a reason. Basically, get everyone out of the building first before publishing results. You never know how people react....

I am so grateful for my time at OCR. I started my time there quite broken, but over time I was…read morefortified by the community of others in the course with me, as well as by some of the exceptional staff. My healing there was jumpstarted by having Katie as my case manager, and by the groups that she facilitated that brought up very important discussions that other facilitators did not. I got to talk with my peers about things that I thought i carried alone for my whole life. Katie encouraged me to share my story when i had been so hesitant before, and the response i got from others in the program was profound and very helpful. My time in Katie's office and in her facilitated sessions were a tremendous help to me and i will miss going back so badly. My therapist Leah was absolutely wonderful - she also encouraged me to share my story and was wonderfully supportive through my time at OCR. I also very much enjoyed the sessions that she facilitated. She helped me with some impossibly difficult events currently happening in my life and showed deep care and concern and willingness to help. Anthony was also very kind and caring, when he had no obligation to be. One thing left me wanting though. We were regularly asked for feedback from OCR as to what we'd like to see changed and i never saw OCR take any of our responses to heart. The Women's Group session hosted by Jenna was one of my favorite parts of the week (she is amazing). I regularly asked to have women's group more than once a week. So did many of the women in session with me. Never happened. Multiple patients and i also asked for time to break off into smaller discussion groups, as the "lecture" classes can get tedious. We benefited so much more from more intimidate discussion. I voiced this at least twice when asked directly what i'd like to see changed, and the others in the session agreed that they'd like to see those changes, and nothing ever came of it.
