This year, she simply stopped responding altogether. no replies to multiple follow-ups, no updates, nothing. My brother had already stopped working with her the year before due to the same issues: chronic delays, lack of urgency, and total disregard for deadlines. If you enjoy being ignored after turning in all your documents on time, getting ghosted after multiple emails, and scrambling to file extensions because your tax preparer vanished. then by all means, work with Irene. I feel fortunate to find Irene a polite, 'contemporary' & responsive accountant. My last accountant who filed my tax a few years was not responsive to my tax questions. He also sent me very creepy scanned PDF form, which are hard to read & fill in info. Then, I went to HR Block. Yet the attitude of the senior accountant there was very rude in our 1st (of course, the last too) meeting; perhaps I have a very small business, he tried to neglect me. He printed out several thick tax forms & instructions, & asked me to read (well, if I read them then I file on my own without him, right). It was my 1st year to file tax as an independent consultant. Although I asked Irene many questions, she was patient to explain to me. Her questionnaires have made my life easy to summarize the details of my business to her. My family also had ~20 accounts outside US. Even we felt annoyed to report many accounts, I have not found a mistake Irene made in our ~ 80-page tax return forms. I reside in Michigan. I did not expect her professional service covers me so well. Most importantly, she was able to reduce my tax so much more than I could expect & compared to other accountants. Her price is reasonable. Irene was recommended by coworker to help me set up a S-Corp two year ago. The communication was fine in the beginning and she was efficient with the document submission. I paid the service fee and thought everything was set! Then we got letters from IRS that S Corp was not set up and the tax return was prepared wrong. I called Irene multiple times and left message but she never returned my call..... she did answer my call several months after when I called her again. She said she did fax the forms. She had no intention to follow up with IRS and get it right. I had to pay another CPA hundred dollars to fix the problem that Irene caused. I'm quite disappointed and frustrated. not great impression overall. initially Irene didn't reply to my email for a couple of weeks and once she did start replying she basically would list a bunch of fees for any consulting on simple stuff like which type of LLC to create and separate fee for consulting on how to form another LLC which didn't make sense ... fees were changing in each email ... just overall poor experience ... focused on fees rather than what expertise she can actually offer ... also Irene asked me to remove/revise my yelp review for any further services to be offered! read more

Decided to switch CPA's this year. Found Zero Tax through Yelp and contacted them through the Yelp website. Irene replied back the same day. I provided some information to her via email and she gave me an estimate on what the cost would be. Once I received all my tax forms we made an appointment to meet. We met for about 30 minutes to go over everything and answer any questions Irene had. She gave me a target date as to when she'd get started. While she worked on my filing there were a few follow-up emails about various aspects of my taxes, additional information or clarification she needed, etc. Upon completion an electronic copy of my taxes was sent along with authorizations for e-filing. When these were returned e-filing was quickly completed. We met the following week so she could return my forms and thumb drive I'd provided her. The process was easy and quick. Irene was clear in all her communications and answered any questions I had. The price was fair (less than my old CPA) and everything was done in a timely manner. .....I have used TurboTax and HR&Block software, NEVER AGAIN. This year I decided to do TurboTax software and get a Tax Pro to do my taxes and see what that difference would be. I won't give out specific numbers, but WOW. Honestly, I was stunned at the difference. .....I spent $50.00 on TurboTax this year and Irene is around $200.00 depending if you want Electronic filing. $200.00 money well spent on a professional who knows what she is doing. .....TurboTax had me owing money to the IRS, but with Irene, I am now getting a refund. This is the first time I will be getting a refund in three years. .....She is very friendly and patient. It took me awhile to get all my paperwork together to get my itemized deductions.
