Being new-ish to San Antonio, it's been years (Yike!) since my last check up and cleaning and having settled in to our new home, it was time to select a practice near our home. There are so many options on Potranco and more dental offices pop up every 6 months or so as the community continues to grow. Schuchart popped up right at the entrance of my community, Arcadia Ridge. I can literally walk there in 10 mins. I'd seen this dental office on social media and love the aesthetic of the outside. The photos of the inside I've seen was just as impressive. The husband-wife team of dentists are young and family oriented. I knew I'd found my place! GETTING IN: scheduling an appointment was so easy. The gal I spoke to was very professional and friendly and we easily coordinated a date and time for my initial visit. I show up on the day of my visit very excited. Giddy, even. Let's get these teeth in tip-top shape! Check in was simple and I glance around the large waiting area. Portraits of the dentists and their child are framed and mounted on the wall, along with licenses and certificates. I love the ambiance, still smells brand new, lighting is comfortable and every surface is clean. There's what I can only guess is a child's play room, but I'm not 100% sure. THE TEAM: I have to say, the treatment team in back are awesome. Down to earth and really fun, actually. We shared quite a few laughs in conversation. The equipment is state of the art, so easy for my X-ray results and explanation of my dental health to be broken down simply for me on a screen. I required some repair and the doctor patched me up quick. Overall, I am very happy having trusted my gut with this new practice and I'm sure you can guess I can't wait for my next cleaning. I visited in November and was charged upfront because they were unsure if my insurance would cover the services. I happily paid. My insurance did indeed cover the service except the oral exam and the insurance and dentist agreed to a contracted amount. The dentist refuses to honor the contracted amount and only offered a partial refund. Their reasoning is insurance didn't cover it anyways so we are going to charge you the full amount and not the contracted amount we agreed upon with your insurance. Stephanie was combative and said she would call me back for a refund in two weeks. I had to call back multiple times letting them know that insurance has paid them and they owe me a refund yet they only provided a partial. My dental insurance company called them as well to advise they should not be charging the full amount and should be charging the contract amount but they disagreed and refused to refund me. They continued arguing with the insurance as well. At this point my insurance is filing a complaint. This is unfortunate because I really liked the dentist but the fact that I called, my insurance company called, and they do not know how to bill properly is fraudulent. There are so many other great dentist in this area go to don't bother with this place. Look at their google reviews there are others that have complained about the same thing. Look at your explanation of benefits because this dentist is pocketing the money.

The entire staff is very conscious of pain and anxiety, and they do everything in their power to make the patient comfortable. In terms of pain management, they get an A. The receptionists and office coordinators are very outgoing and kind. They remembered my name, and greeted me personally on calls and visits. I really appreciate the family-style service and environment. For office environment and customer service, a definite A+. I came to ACD about 3 months before my wedding date. My teeth were not looking their best - they needed whitening, and I had some older cosmetic work that was looking slightly off-color. Dr. Cook and team came up with a plan to start whitening and to "fix" the older cosmetic defects. About 10 days before my wedding, I came into the office to have the work done, but as we discussed the whitening results, I realized I wasn't happy with the shade we'd reached. Instead of urging me forward, Dr. Cook adapted to the situation by offering me a more aggressive whitening program for another week, and was able to find a time to squeeze me into the schedule just days before my wedding. I was super happy with the results. Not only did I get to a great shade of white, but the cosmetic work he performed looked outstanding. My teeth haven't looked this good in years, and I was super confident and happy to show off my smile on the big day. I typically do so over the phone, but this last visit, I scheduled the appointment using the online form and was quickly contacted regarding availability. I also appreciate how they run on-time. I always arrive around 10 minutes before my appointment, and I have always been taken back at the exact time of my appointment. Cleanings take roughly 40 min, then Dr. Jaros comes in the check everything out, and I'm typically back in my car and driving home within 45 min of my appointment starting.
