I had a 60th birthday spa activity scheduled today at the Agape Day Spa in New Braunfels TX. I've been waiting for a week. When I arrived they didn't have enough staff at the front desk to take care of incoming customers. After waiting 10 min for someone to help me, I was turned away because I didn't confirm through text that I was still coming. Do better. I make appointments for a reason. If I make an appointment I shouldn't have to confirm again through text that I'll still be there. Plus, the text came from a Los Angeles (213) area code. I don't answer text from unknown caller from California. I don't think I'll be going back. It was humiliating and hurtful. read more

We loved it. My daughter and I went for a treat day. We had a fabulous time. The spa is welcoming and smells amazing. The waiting area has very comfy seats. The receptionist is very friendly without being intrusive. We had a hot stone massage with Diane. Wonderful. CANNOT WAIT TO GO BACK!!! She had perfect pressure for me as well as my 13 year old daughter. We also had a facial treatment with Laurie. It was so refreshing and our skin looked fabulous. REVIEW FOR LASER HAIR REMOVAL ONLY- OK I loved this place at first (nice place, nice people) but in all reality, the laser hair removal just didn't work on the dark hair (i knew it wouldn't work in the light hairs obviously). I got 5 treatments which i assumed would be enough, but it was no where near enough so even though it lessened the hair, it really left MOST behind. ALSO, apparently you have to be SUPER careful after you get laser hair removal to protect against the sun. They never warned me of this so I ended up with sun spots all over my face now, which I'll need a bleaching cream for. I really wish they had stressed that you need to wear a large hat, sunscreen etc. after a treatment. I didn't go lay out or anything, but just normal running around town was too much sun after laser. If I had known that I wouldn't have sun spots! So, I ended up with laser hair removal that didn't work and now sunspots.... Maybe other lasers would be better.... I'm going to a Dr. office for laser next time. read more

I had a gift card for a european facial and deep tissue massage. At first, I was not really impressed with interior of the spa. (It is nicer in appearance than the retreat day spa) It was nice just not high end in comparison to spas in austin. However, the people were SO incredibly kind and attentive! MARY gave me the most gentle and relaxing facial I have ever received. She is a very warm and gentle person. SHELLY gave me my massage. She was so pleasant. She did a great job getting the kinks out of my back! This place really focusses on the interpersonal aspect of the spa experience.There was a true connection for me and the providers. I am giving Agape three stars because Lindsey, the laser tech, is AWESOME!!!! I will go more in to depth a little later... First of all, Agape Day Spa is located about a mile off the highway in a quaint renovated traditional New Braunflesy style house. They have street-side chalk boards they use to advertise their specials. The reception desk is immediately to your left when you enter. The staff at Agape is top notch- they are friendly, professional, educated and competent. When you enter, you're greeted with a warm, comforting scent of "spa". They have lotion samples and several cosmetics and candles for sale. They have information about their newest services as well as several small couches where you may wait for your appointment. Now, I had purchased two Groupons for laser hair removal. Lindsey was super knowledgeable, helpful and sensitive. She explained the process of laser hair removal, what I should see and provided great instructions. NOW FOR THE NOT-SO-GOOD-NEWS: On my hair, the laser didn't work...after my six Groupon sessions plus two extra I still had significant hair growth. The reason I am frustrated is I was told I was the perfect candidate for LHR as I am fair in complexion and have dark hair. I was told because I was receiving the Brazilian LHR that the hormones in the area create more hair (I'd started leg laser hair removal at Stadia and had amazing results) after asking why the laser on my legs was working and not in the Brazilian area. Now, about 4 1/2- 5 months later it's as if I had never gotten LHR (not to be gross!). I paid $200 for the groupon of 6 sessions, however I rather would have spent the money on waxes. I have not experienced their spa services, just laser hair removal. Agape is clean (their bathroom is immaculate!), the staff is professional and they are most accommodating. My wife has been going there for years. From hair removal, massages, to her facials. She loves the atmosphere and the attention that is given to her specific needs and wants. I went in to get a microdermabrasion facial. When I called to make the appointment the lady who answered the phone wasn't sure about the prices and said that she would get back with me. A couple days passed and I finally did hear from someone in reference to how much the facial would be. I never confirmed the appointment but I received a text that morning stating that my appointment was set for 10 o'clock that morning. I text the number back saying that I never confirmed the appointment. I ended up going in anyway since they had me down for an appointment that day to get the microdermabrasion facial. It was my first time ever getting a microdermabrasion facial. When I got to the building I filled out a sheet with questions on it and then I was brought back to the room. Nothing was explained to me as far as how the facial went. I I laid on the table and I closed my eyes and next thing I knew there was some cold slop being put on my face...no warning or anything. No explaining what was being done while it was being done. The girl ( I think her name was Genevieve or Geneva, not sure but I know it started with a G) who did my microdermabrasion facial knew that it was my first time ever getting one because she had asked me if I ever had one and I told her no. On the website it says the facial last 30 minutes. My facial lasted a total of 15 minutes and that was with an add-on glow mask. Not much effort was put into my facial or explaining to a new customer what was being done. Will I go back to this spa for any future treatments? The answer is no. I'd rather go to a place that I feel puts more effort into the customer satisfaction and customers need instead of one that seems to be all about how many customers they can get in quickly and get out quickly. I think it is extremely unfortunate to see these poor reviews. I have been going to Agape for almost a year now. I have had multiple facials and was so impressed with my results of my underarm and brazilian laser hair removal, that I am going back to get my legs done as well. The staff is professional, personable and extremely knowledgeable. They also have very competitive pricing compared to other spas in town. They were very upfront and honest that laser hair removal works different for everyone. They were also extremely adamant about after care. They even turned me away my first session because I had a spray tan the week before and they did not want my skin to have an adverse reaction. Definitely give them a chance! Every business makes scheduling mistakes and it is apparent that some of these reviewers did not read the disclosure you sign when getting laser hair removal. read more

I have had Diana and Megan as Massage Therapists. Both were amazing!!! They listened to my needs and gave me the relaxing massages I needed. I had Microdermabrasin treatment here. I had 6 treatments, but also i didnt see any difference. I had this last year. I thought may be my skin didn't suit the treatment. But now i had again the same treatment in chicago. For just two treatements i can see lot of difference. Now i realized that its not the fault of my skin, The fault is the treatment they did to me. I just wasted my money. And i use to go there every 15days. And the distance from my house is 40miles. total 80miles everytime. I'm writing my fourth review, as the owner continues to make false claims to get yelp to remove them. They will continue to be posted as she gets them deleted. First she claimed that I am not a paying customer. I assure you I have my receipt and charge that was posted on my credit card! In my opinion, I have definitely seen over the past week the underhanded and unethical things that are done by this business. I will repost as it is the right thing to do. I hope that no other upstanding citizen in New Braunfels has to endure what this "small business" owner feels that she is entitled to do. My experience with Agape Day Spa on Dec 28, 2016 and the week to follow has been unacceptable and very inappropriate to say the least. The company posted false claims on their website, the manager explained nothing to me about the whitening procedure and the owner called us making threats about charging us for theft as my wife refused to pay for her bill. Please see her FB page, Katie Decena, as the post of her whole experience has been made public. I should have saved myself the heartache and hassle by using crest white strips at home. There product does NOT work effectively, save your money! I did pay for my services as I saw the slightest improvement in color, my wife had zero! We have notified the BBB and urge any of you looking for spa services to steer as far clear from this place as possible! I can't believe a birthday gift has turned to such a disaster. The employees are always so friendly to me I've been to agape for other services and nothing has ever gone wrong. But then again I'm also not a picky jerk so if something were to go wrong I'd be understanding and I will ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS pay for my service because let's be real here, I'd rather not catch any charges. read more

I bought the package for laser hair removal, brazilian area. I LOVE the woman that does the procedure, doesn't make you feel uncomfortable at all, very friendly. Yes, it does hurt a lot, feels like getting an intense tattoo in the area, but the whole brazilian area only takes 5-10 minutes to complete which is amazing! I am very pale with medium brown hair so I was a perfect candidate for hair removal. I'm 21, and I had been waxing for 4 years every month and wasting way too much money! I took advantage of a deal they had going on which was 'half price packages' so i got the original $800 procedure for only 400! I am really impressed with the results i have received so far and i am only 2 sessions into the 6. I barely have any hair re-growth but some is obviously expected during your sessions because of the different hair growth cycles. I will post another review after my 6 sessions are over. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND, but wait for a special! They seem to hold specials all the time! Only complaint I have is that their hours aren't as convenient for my schedule and sometimes their scheduling assistant messes up your appointment times and whatnot. Otherwise, GO HERE! :) read more

All the staff has been polite and pleasant and prices make their high quality services affordable for even those on a budget. In the rare occasion there has been an issue with scheduling they were able to fix it quickly and make sure I felt satisfied with the situation. Recently visited Agape Day Spa with a friend for some pampering. This place is wonderful. Every staff member I encountered was friendly and helpful. It's a very clean and relaxing environment. That day I got the facial for acne prone skin (so wonderful and my face looks great), my friend got the European Facial and a massage, she was sooo happy and relaxed when we left.
