This store is a life saver!…read more We are contractors and had a job on Orcas Island. We had never been to Orcas before and were unfamiliar with the area. Before we set out for the island, I looked up local hardware stores (just in case). I found Island Hardware & Supply, called them to make sure they would have what we MIGHT need, hopped in the truck and got on the ferry. OF COURSE it turned out that we DID need some items, so we set off for the Hardware store. We got lost and ended up at the little hardware store in East Sound - we thought we were at the right store, but they didn't have any of the supplies we needed. We were pretty confused until I found out from a local resident that the little hardware store in East Sound is on North Beach Road, and the big hardware store (Island Hardware) is on West Beach Road. So we hopped back in the truck again, and set out to find Island Hardware. (yes, we got losat again...but eventually figured it out) We were so relieved when we located the store and were able to purchase the supplies we needed, because we were thinking that we would have to get on the ferry and drive to the home depot in Mt Vernon (that would have taken forever). Island Hardware had all the stuff we wanted, lumber, tools, big bolts, lag screws, plumbing supplies etc. They even have a couple of little gas pumps which was handy for us. We had the occassion to go back up to Orcas for round two of the job which was exterior painting. The paint we purchased needed to be re-tinted at the last minute. We remembered that Island Hardware had a paint department and took the buckets of paint to them with our fingers crossed. Even though we didn't buy the paint from them, they happily re-tinted it for us...I thought that was pretty generous and excellent customer service!

Really not impressed with the staff on duty today. Went…read morethere to pick up some weed killer. Walked the entire store and didn't see it. Found a sprayer, which I did buy. Went to the cashier to pay for it and asked if they sold weed killer. She said, "Yes. It's in the farm section" I left my sprayer and went to go get it. The guy in the farm section ACTUALLY ASKED me if I needed help, which is more than any other staff member did! Told him what I was looking for. He said they did have it, but it's locked up and there is no one in the store that can actually sell it to me! I'm thinking "WHAT?!? It's the weekend! Do you not think that people in the weekends would want to weed their gardens!?!" Good God. That when most of us have the time off to do it!!! And NO, I'm not finished! So I get back to the till area, the next cashiers says she can help me. So it was all this girl could do to keep focused on ringing my item through. She was far more concerned with an entering customer with a puppy than she was providing me with great service! She even left the till while my payment was being processed to talk to the entering customer with the puppy. I was so pissed by the time I got to my truck I wrote this. Rona, if you can't hire customer service reps who treat their customers with respect and care, then you can't very well call them CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS! Or is it that just certain customers get treated in a friendly, courteous manner. Do I have to bring my dog in to get great customer service? Can't wait until Canadian Tire opens! Then I will never have to set foot in Rona again! Terrible experience!

I drove from Abbotsford only to find out that what they promised they had they did not have , wasting my time and as an insult he wanted me to accept a gift card from Rona. First of all a gift card from your store is a write off and I imagine that my time was worth just that to you a write off. Thanks for nothing and as for integrity next time offer something for a persons time not a trivial gift card from your store. That would be like someone missing to pick someone up for an important appointment and saying " sorry , I'll get you next time and its on me". When you promise someone something it should not be a hollow promise. I would truly not recommend this store to anyone. Disgruntled, yes I am, and I know just what to do about it. Keep on writing reviews just like this one. I truly hope this cost Rona Mission. Happy shopping everyone.

Customer service is the worst here. Stood at the paint counter for ten minutes while the two women…read moreat the main register chatted it up with each other. Finally, Anne, the older woman, moved away from the register to go put something away and looked right at me, but didnt offer to help or get someone to help. Finally, I asked if someone could help me get some paint and Anne, in a condescending, syrupy sweet voice said "We'll get someone right over to help you!" She's always like this-rude and condescending to the women, but oh so nice to the men. Its pathetic. Later, as I was paying for my items and my coupon didnt work, Anne came over to help the cashier and said "we're just having one of those days" while giving me a dirty look. Every time I'm in there, she acts like its a personal insult to have to help anyone. Just retire already. While I was waiting, I saw no less than six people working at the store on a Tuesday afternoon, so if any employees actually cared to help out, it would be a well-staffed store. Instead its just a bunch of paid dead weight. There's an older gentleman there, I believe his name is Martin, who is wonderful-very helpful and knowledgeable, but the rest of the staff is miserable. Given the multiple reviews over a span of years about the same issue, its clear that the manager and owner dont care, so now I drive all the way out to Lynden and support that well stocked store and kind and knowledgeable staff. Most of the staff at Lynden Ace are high schoolers but have much higher maturity levels than pissy old Anne.

Young lady answered the phone and was snarky with me. Didn't let me finish and told me online orders need to be picked up in the store. Yeah, ya think! I'm trying to call as I'm 30 seconds away so I don't have to come into the store. I told the you girl on the phone that I will be around the back, ad it was water softener salts. The conversation was literally "ok" *hangup*. So I pull in around the back, waited about 5 minutes. Nothing... called again and said I'm around the back. "Ok, I'll send someone right out." Of fine. The young chap comes out. Grabs what I thought was my product, and went around the front. Not long after that, he came around the back. So apparently communication doesn't thrive at this place. The nice young man came and loaded the item into my car. I get home and he had loaded pool salts. Not water softener salts. If I had filled that softener tank with that, who knows if any damage to the appliances, or skin damage could have occurred. Since pool salts are to chlorinate the pool. I took the item back to swap the correct one, waited in line as there was someone ahead of me. I don't know if it was a supervisor at the other register, but she could have at least acknowledged me standing there and tell me someone will be right with me. Like, you see me, right? I get the product swapped, but no apology or anything. And seeing some of the other comments here, I think the owner needs to reevaluate the work atmosphere there, because it's so basic. I didn't feel welcomed. This needs to change. Until then, I'll go elsewhere.
