I was at a point where I was looking for a m-f full time job and I was stoked at this possible opportunity. I came in early with an appointment a few weeks later and took all the tests that are required. They were beyond easy, I started to feel somewhat out of place because I'm somewhat well educated and I like to think of myself as pretty intelligent and the tests were like seriously??? Who wouldn't know that answer. But I thought it would just lead me to some awesome job opportunities. My "recruiters" name was Victor. I didn't like him. He cut me off mid sentence throughout the whole meeting and didn't seem to give two craps about anything I had to say. Select staffing requires that you bring in your resume so they can "edit" it in ways that make you seem more valuable. Pretty quickly I was informed that there was a job interview he found for me at an office, he sent me a copy of my resume that he had rendered. Okay first of all, he added "skills" I DONT HAVE. Such as knowledge in Microsoft programs, filing, receptionist experience. I clearly had told him that I have ONLY worked in restaurants and retail. But I was thinking that maybe this is normal and they just want me to go along with this during an interview to get me the job but I fail miserably at pretending I have skills I just don't have. On my resume, I worked at Menchie's as a teen. When victor "edited" my resume he wrote "Munchies". Seriously? I expect that my information needs to be completely correct and that was just embarrassing and he had already sent my resume to this job. I could go on about some of the other jobs he had referred me to, which were all completely NOT what I told him I was looking for. Clearly, the staff here must just get commission off sending resumes regardless of whether or not anyone even gets the job because it was made very clear that Victor did not actually care about listening to my needs and was extremely incompetent. Not only did she shame me for not having a computer, she told me to tone myself down during a phone call (anyone who knows me, knows I'm high energy and goofy). While driving to pull cash from my bank (she requested payment up front, and I was desperate to start the process), I received a text from Tyler and I pulled off the road. I messaged him back and got the okay for a quick phone call. The chemistry was instant- wow, did I really find someone who communicates like me!?! He let me jabber on about what I needed and my time frame (within a couple days), and fit me into his busy schedule. He slotted my appointment times and graciously let me send him screenshots of notes and paperwork I had via text (the Masterpiece lady wouldn't let me do any of that; she told me I need to 'step into the real world' and copy and paste the information from websites and email pdfs so she doesn't have to type as much. Say what?). Tyler kept to our set times, and he built me a resume and cover letter from scratch! This is no easy feat to do, especially upon just chatting a virtual stranger up for 15 minutes at a time. We bounced ideas off each other to clean up and edit both. Our final conversation lasted about an hour, and we got everything done by bedtime! Response time, fair prices, and caring about me as a person earned him an easy 5 stars.
