The staff really knows what they're doing when it comes to this disease, and they helped me finally get off fentanyl for good. Ritz is clean, cozy, and has this chill vibe that makes it easy to settle in and focus on getting better. What I loved most was how the team treated me , they actually listened, kept it real, and showed real compassion because many of them had been through the same struggles. They didn't just throw a one size fits all plan at me, they made a plan that fit meIt felt like a safe space where I could be open and vulnerable without any judgment. I met people there I never thought I'd even hang out with, but some of them turned out to be the best folks I've met. We even went on weekend outings that showed me how to have fun without drugs. The overall company was trying to get the most money out of my insurance as possible. I started off in the sober living facility and during Christmas time, I had covid over winter and had to take NyQuil and that was the first excuse for forcing me back into a rehab program that was not needed. My reason for being in the program in the first place was that I had 18 back to back surgeries over the past 4 years and was on opioids for a long period of time so this was a way to detox in a safe environment. There was no psychological addiction, just physical dependence to opioids. They lied about multiple addictions to medication(amphetamine addiction) that I was prescribed since childhood and used it to get more money through insurance. They also lied about an alcohol addiction, when I am medically intolerant to alcohol. When I got back to the sober living after this time I was talked about poorly among staff members and called "attention seeking" for asking for a few days off in order to visit 2 dying family members. Eventually someone in the group had consumed alcohol and told the staff which upset another client due to the unfairness and favoritism. This upset client gave me alcohol without my knowledge or consent and afterwards told the staff that I was drunk. This other client had been upset and doing things like this for 2 weeks prior to this incident. I believe he did this in order to prove a point that they will send people they dislike or with good insurance back to rehab in order to get more money. This client later confessed to me he had put alcohol in my drink without my consent and I had a reaction to the alcohol and was placed back into the rehab facility. I was put on addictive barbiturates and unnecessary medications for 2 days before my insurance denied coverage due to fraudulent services. The alcohol level was so low that there was no logical reason I needed to be there. I was then abandoned as a patient had had to find a new place to live in 2 hours or I was out on the street. Remember it's just a business. They don't actually care about you. They left another 2 of my friends on their own where one eventually fell into a coma following her abandonment. Something else they did was contact my pharmacy and told them never to fill any of my prescriptions ever from any doctor. I was no longer under their care at all. I'm a disabled person and this made it very difficult to obtain medication that I needed. This is a HIPPA violation for sure.

I believe you can have success in treatment in a lot of places if you want it and choose to trust the process and listen to what the counselors are saying!! Which is our biggest problem we get a few weeks clean and we are back to wanting to do things our way!! I really enjoyed my time at Hollywood Hills and I believe they give everyone the tools and the knowledge to stay clean but that's just step one in a 30 day stay! They then set you up to go to a sober house and do IOP which is just as vital to your recovery!! They offer all these steps here at Hollywood hills and you see people being very successful if they can get out their own way and listen to what the staff is recommending for them!! If you do that and trust the process you will and can stay sober!! I was sober for many years after Hazeldon and am now on 6 plus months sober from Hollywood hills and there sober house in Northridge and am back home with my family enjoying life once again!! I loved Hollywood hills cause your in there with a small group it's personal the staff takes your recommendations and works hard to get you back out in the world and you start to enjoy the little things! In my 30 day stay we went to a lakers game that they brought us to and to universal studios recovery is not about punishment and hating your self it's about learning to love your self enjoy life and learn to appreciate people and things and I can say I appreciate everything the staff at Hollywood hills did for me and I would recommend it to anyone it was a great time in my life and got me back on track!! After 23 years of abusing alcohol and not dealing with my depression, I decided to check myself in to Alo. From the initial phone consultation I knew I had made the right decision. They had a driver named Mike who met me at the airport and helped ease my mind and answered my many questions on the drive to Malibu. Once I got to the Alo detox house over looking the Pacific Ocean, I was put at ease by the friendly staff and councillors, ( many of whom had some experience with recovery themselves). This was an extremely emotional time for me as I realized I would be getting to the core of my problems with Alcohol and depression over the following month, but not once did I feel it unsafe to discuss any and all topics with the amazing staff, therapists and psychologists. At the next phase my lodging was in a giant mansion with all the amenities including a pool and 24 hour staff on call to help with any issues. There was an absolute dream team of chefs who made all types of delicious meals to suite any and all dietary restrictions. Can't say enough good things about how well I was fed throughout my stay. The daily programming covered a wide variety of courses and the group discussions were where I found some of the most comfort and solidified some great friendships with other clients. Jared and Evan have created an amazing thing down there in Malibu and I hope they are aware of the impact they've had on many lives, including mine. All I can say is thank you, from the bottom of my heart to all the staff, councillors, and therapists at Alo House. I just received my 3 month chip ( the longest duration of sobriety I've had in 23 years) and Im slowly getting my life back in order. The nutrition needs were met with quality food prepared at a high-level that taught me to appreciate good food, and fostered a desire to continue feeding my body, and respecting my body by limiting processed foods and high sugar items that only serve to retrigger the reward pathway. The next most important reason I chose 1Method was for their commitment to an exercise program that was built into the weekly schedule that included the guidance of a professional trainer who worked with me to build new habits that have stayed with me. I have stayed sober since August 25 of 2019 . I am grateful to live at the beach where I ride my bike every day and prepare healthy, real foods for myself and my family, because those things helped me build new habits that were foundational to my long term success. I will complete my bachelors degree in December of this year and plan to enter the graduate program in January. It's never too late to make a new start and transform your life.

If you care about anyone suffering from addiction, DO NOT SEND THEM TO BREATHE. This is a…read moreclient-based treatment center, which means MONEY is ALL they care about. You say you'll stay for 30, they say you need to stay for 60. While the longer you remain in a CREDIBLE patient-based (usually under the care of a hospital with doctor overseeing the program) the greater chance of staying sober, BUT if you stay 60, they push for 90. God forbid you announce after 17 days that you will be leaving in 30, the staff becomes very passive aggressive and vascillates between trying to threaten clients with relapse and ignoring them altogether. The staff has ZERO accreditations other than being in recovery themselves. HIPPA and privacy is completely ignored, and have no medical background whatsoever. They do not treat the clients with any compassion or respect, unless you/your family has money. There were three people out of 65 who were solely there for alcohol (no cross-addiction). They were handed The Big Book and that was it. Those with eating disorders, methamphetamine, or pill addictions had separate groups for counseling daily. Those three never had any sessions where they were able to discuss their addiction or were given any help. The entire group went to AA speaker meetings 7 days a week, but never got delve into their own issues. Kathleen made a point to dress down the entire group over unhappy staff and actually said, "We DO NOT CARE how you got here. We don't care about your past. Stop whining and listen to your counselors, they have heard every lie and excuse coming out of you and know you better than you know yourself!" Sobriety 101, addiction is a symptom of the problem that brought them to rehab. There was absolutely no communication with family members, which is essential as it is a family disease. One person who completed their treatment after 90 days, was back the very next day as they relapsed that night. They had something called Family Week, that only those who had been at the facility for at least 90 days MIGHT be able to attend, but it was months away. Family members were encouraged to take an entire week off of work and pay for a week's stay at a hotel where they held it. Some of these people's loved ones spent every last dime to keep them there and could not take off work for a day, let alone an entire week. Kathleen's "special talent" is to single out a client and proceed to rip them apart in front of their peers (and was said to do this at Family Week repeatedly over the course of the week). Nothing she said was in the vein of healing. It was 45 minutes of verbal abuse that left people completely traumatized. MacKenzie Phillips wasn't an active member of the program, she just wandered the halls, if she was there at all. Breathe has a lot of glossy pictures and empty promises (equine therapy...there was none, a swimming pool...clients were not allowed to use it, trips to the beach...nope, too much liability). The founder bought up all but two houses on a street in Laurel Canyon (you do the math) and it looks great on their website, but that's it. It is NOT a safe place to heal. ***Bottom line, if you or someone needs help with addiction, please find a PATIENT-BASED rehab facility, that encourages family participation through visitation and group therapy. The counselors should hold degrees in psychology, drug and addiction counseling, etc and have done clinical hours during their studies. Places that show you pictures of what looks like a 5-star resort with promises of gourmet food, a spa-like atmosphere, and an easy process do not have their client's best interest at heart. As with any facility, you need to do your due diligence, ask questions, and review their qualifications. If I can educate just one person on what to look for and what to avoid, so that they can help a loved one or themselves acheive sobriety in a safe and healthy environment, then I will consider writing this incredibly worthwhile.

From the…read moremoment I (nervously) walked in, I could tell that the staff genuinely cared about what I was going thru and wanted me to get well. They made me instantly feel welcomed and comfortable, and throughout my stay I grew even more appreciative for the compassion and skill level of the staff. Their approach is very holistic and expands far beyond just the 12 steps. We learned meditation, breathing exercises, yoga, acupuncture, among many other things. The therapists are the best I've ever spoken with. I had 2 assigned to me including a trauma therapist who helped me work through issues I had never really spoken about with anyone before, helping connect my childhood trauma with my substance abuse issues, and giving me the tools to deal with it. The house is very spacious and comfortable with a giant pool and hot tub, and we had time to relax and match movies and hang out. I laughed a lot with the other clients and had more fun than I ever would have imagined in rehab and made new friends that I've continued to stay friends with after leaving. Beyond just getting clean, the Villa gave me the breakthroughs and tools I needed to stay sober and taught me how to enjoy life, laugh, and have fun without needing alcohol and for that I'm forever grateful. I checked out of the Villa a completely different person, ready to take on the world. Don't think twice about going here if you're in need of help!

The Villa is THE place to go. I have people from all walks of life, from friends, family, friends of friends, come to me and ask where their loved one should go and The Villa is the ONLY place I can say with 100% confidence in recommending. The Villa's staff have all of the, and the best of the credentials and the owners couldn't be nicer, more involved, and were easy and available to talk to throughout the entire experience. Even after your stay is completed. They ACTUALLY CARE. Every other place that I know or have worked with has some sort of monetary incentive, but the Villa is only recovery center in the COUNTY that genuinely wants to help people get sober and have amazing futures. From the moment you pick up the phone, you are part of the family...even when you graduate. I would say 95% of the programs in LA and maybe even the entire state of California are at least somewhat corrupt and only looking to make money. It's shocking what happens in this industry, especially when it's supposed to be saving lives. I can HONESTLY and PROUDLY say that the Villa is in the other 5% and I couldn't be more honored that I went there and I am so happy, relieved, and reassured that I have a place I can recommend to my loved ones. Today I attended the WeHo Pride Parade Watch event at Creative Recovery LA. The space is airy and…read morewelcoming, the atmosphere feels not only inviting but well lit with natural sunlight and furnished with chic modern decor. Everyone there was very nice and made my friend and I feel right at home. It's on the second floor above the Fresh Corn Grill so it wasn't too hard to find. As we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly pup. We removed our shoes as everyone else had, and entered the main room. There was plenty of tasty breakfast goodies to snack on as folks introduced themselves. The space was clean and smelled of sage which felt rejuvenating. We met the owner, Cory, who invited us to a sound bath session. Some of the folks sitting at the tables let us know to bring tissues... I was not expecting to need them and did not wear waterproof mascara that day, I still grabbed the tissues and went on. The sound bath room was equipped with comfy pillow like seats on the ground. The room had acoustics that transformed me into state where I felt like my seated body was one with the music. As the sounds continued I felt a deep connection with myself that I could not describe, which made me glad I listened and grabbed those tissues. I am thankful for Cory and the staff here, that sound bath was the best thing that's happened to me all year. It was better than any meditation or reiki session out there.
