Who is saying "ya know what would go great with this ice cream? Pie filling!" Had once and not worth a second try

We expected the choice to pick cookies and ice cream and the sandwich be made in front of you. This isn't what happens, basically they have premade sandwiches that are frozen. No modifications can be made. The cookies were incredibly hard and the ice cream hard too, as the sandwiches were frozen for who knows how long. In my experience, mine tasted pretty good. I got the salted caramel one. But others with me got ones like the peanut butter and chocolate brownie. They said that theirs had minimal flavor, with the peanut butter barely noticeable. I will say, these may be better when it's warmer out. We also went on pi day, so 3 for $14 wasn't a bad price. Service was fine, quick and friendly. read more

So many fun flavors to choose from! I love that they had pictures of each choice on the wall and labeled so that you could see what it looked like prior to ordering. The worst part of the whole experience is waiting long enough for the ice cream to soften so you can really enjoy it! Wow - the hype is real. We stopped by just past 8 pm last night on a long and muggy walk back to our hotel at upper King St, from the far south point of King St --- we as in our family of 6 (my wife + I + 4 kids under 8 yrs old). We were in dire need for a quality dessert stop. I had bookmarked Peace Pie on Yelp to stop by on our Charleston visit, and randomly this location was on our walk back coincidentally - pure destiny. Unfortunately with Covid, there's no one allowed in, so we ordered at the window. All 6 of us shared two - coconut cream pie and cookies & cream. The person helping us took our order, went to the freezer and brought them both out to us. I was a bit underwhelmed realizing that they were pre-made and pre-frozen... BUT...to my surprise, they were absolutely amazing. It's also probably better they get a deep freeze beforehand so they last longer before melting...so my first impression was 100% inaccurate. The the subtle pie filling with each is just right and enough to make these ice cream sandwiches different than any other normal ice cream sandwich. It's fairly pricey, but one of the few ice cream places worth their weight in what they charge. I highly recommend stopping by to indulge yourself in an above-average ice cream sandwich with a multitude a flavor options. read more

The best ice cream sandwich we ever tried in Charleston. First time trying Salted Caramel Apple and it was so good. Not too creamy, buttery, or sweet like many other ice cream shops. All sandwiched are $6 and they have a gluten free options but it's not always available and only comes in one flavor - piña colada. While we were here they had a little game going for the republican primaries - they made a flavor for the top candidates with proceeds going to charity. Clever forward thinking idea... We got one sandwich to try and must say - it was tastier than expected. It was actually pretty good! I wish they had more options, just ice cream, or spoons... Therefore the lower review. A simple small store front. The person working didn't seem to pleased to be serving us, but I looked past it. This was my first stop into this location. Holy wowza. Highly recommend. It was SO good and totally worth the $6 they charge. I had the red eye. Delish, but don't recommend eating it at night. They only have one table inside, so keep that in mind when going in. All the pie sandwiches looked delicious. I tried the chocolate brownie one because I am a big chocolate person and loved it. My friend tried the strawberry cream pie and loved it as well. Don't bite right after buying it- wait till it's outside for a minutes or two since the sandwhich is really hard. There is no seating here so you have to buy it to go. My 5 year old son and I loved it! Size is big, one is good for two. Great value. Super delicious! My son ordered the strawberry shortcake it was very good, totally recommend it, it's not overly sugary. There is a reason there is always a line at Peace Pie--HELLLOOO, it's delish! David and I were looking for a sweet treat and we kept seeing people with these ice cream sandys, not knowing the details of the sandys beforehand we weren't entirely enticed. BUT upon learning more, PIE CUST, PIE FILLING mixed with ICE CREAM we were ready for a taste! The desserts were perfectly designed and the server was right, you have to wait at least five minutes before chomping into one of these because it will be the right amount melted and ready to enjoy. A little pricey, but it's one of those trendy things you are willing to pay for. It's a really unique flavor and something fun to try. There are few things I love more in life than ice cream. OK, maybe a *bit* of an overstatement, but seriously Peace Pie is enough to make you want to eat all. the. ice. cream. The vehicle of choice for the ice cream is the conventional cookie wafers--yup, an ice cream sandwich. However, this isn't just any ice cream sandwich. The creative ice cream combinations are smashed together between two perfect shortbread cookie wafers. The shop is small, but the selection of ice cream sandwiches packs a mighty punch. For my inaugural journey, I selected "The Elvis" which was obviously a delightful smash-up of peanut butter and banana ice cream between 2 chocolate cookie wafers. Like all Peace Pies, you have to give it a second to thaw out a little bit (which is no problem in the warm Charleston sun) for optimal eating. It was so rich that Hubs had to help me finish eating it; which he wasn't too sad about. All-in-all this is a hotspot that is too cool to miss out on! read more

I know this is a beloved for many, but the Peace Pie didn't do it for me. I found both the cookie and ice cream to be a little too hard and didn't enjoy it as much as I anticipated I would. My wife and I shared the strawberry Peace Pie. The ice cream itself didn't have the wow-factor, but it's possible it was just a little too hard and cold. We ate it on the go and the cookie certainly had a nice firm texture and sweet crumble, but the strawberry ice cream wasn't as creamy or flavorful as I liked. All in all, it was fun to patronize this hippie-inspired business. It was even more fun to take pictures of us trying to devour this massive Peace Pie and see how far our mouths could open to bite it. The flavor and taste itself? Not as fun as the start of the process. Your results may vary, I'd definitely give this another try if I lived in Charleston and try some other flavors. read more

If you want a pre made, freezer burnt, and overpriced "sandwich" then this is your place! Order two of these online so we could just pick them up when we got there; however when I walked in the girl had no idea I had an order until I insisted and showed her my confirmation email. She then grabbed two plastic containers, opened a deep freezer and pulled two items out. She placed one in each box and presented it. Well one was right, but the other wasn't even the right flavor! Then came the taste, well it's your typical dry cookie from the dollar tree with some off brand freezer burnt ice crystal covered ice cream in the middle. Never again for this guy. This is an interesting concept: pie crust, ice cream, and some sort of gooey pie filling? What can go wrong?? Basically, nothing. Even though I work just down the street, I have surprisingly kept myself from frequenting on a daily basis. Interesting combos and great flavors. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five was because of the pricing. I think it's just a bit too expensive for what it is (an ice cream sandwich), but it's SO good that I pay for it anyway. I'd go there every weekend if my wallet could afford it! The pecan pie sandwich is amazing! My friend didn't like the cookie part of the sandwich, but I really enjoy the cookie part, so I think it may be a you-love-it-or-hate-it kind of thing. I particularly appreciate that they cut their ice cream sandwiches in half if you're getting two and want to try both flavors with the person you're eating them with (ex. if you want vanilla and your friend wants chocolate, they can split both in half, to where you can eat 1/2 off the vanilla sandwich and 1/2 of the chocolate. Stopped in for ice cream. They sell ice cream sandwiches. 1 scoop in between simple cookies. Nothing special. Nothing bad. For $8. And the worst part is they ask for a tip. I tipped given the staff has to make the ice cream sandwich. Oh no. She reached into a freezer and handed me a premade ice cream sandwich. I tipped for nothing. No effort. Nothing. Finally got to cross this off my foodie list. We were walking around downtown on a super hot day so I wanted to get a sandwich to cool down. I was sad there was no red velvet but I got the salted caramel brownie sandwich. They keep the cooler cold enough that it took awhile to thaw which is good when it's close to 100 degrees outside. It's chocolate cookie on the outside with two brownie bites, vanilla ice cream and a big layer of caramel. It was great. The brownies tasted different to me since they were frozen but all of the layers together worked great. It was $6 which I feel is fair for what all you get. After a wonderful dinner full of fried seafood, Tanya C and I used your skills to find ice cream (there's always room for ice cream, right?) and found a few choices. We hopped in the car and with my navigator at the ready, Tanya got me going in the right direction. We had a couple of options, but really weren't going to make it in time to location 1. Then she found Peace Pie. Parking is all street parking; luckily we had plenty of time before PP was set to close. We found a nearby lot and walked a few blocks and man, was it worth it! We walked in and found ourselves presented with a case chock full of dreamy ice cream sandwiches. Now we had to make decisions. The proprietor said (since he wasn't busy) that he would cut the sandwiches in half for us so we could share - thank goodness. Otherwise, I'm not sure I could have narrowed it down to just one flavor. We opted for the peanut butter chiffon (Tanya and I are both suckers for peanut butter and chocolate everything) and the banana cream pie. He wrapped them up for us in wax paper and we paid - only $6 each. Apparently, this is too pricey for some, but in Atlanta we pay $5 for 2 scoops of ice cream which is about the same size as one of these sandwiches, so for me this is just right. Each sandwich is two shortbread cookies, a scoop of ice cream and pie filling. Oh joy! Now, the peanut butter chiffon is so rich, I couldn't finish the half. I think I left about 2 bites. It definitely needs to be served with a huge glass of milk or some coffee. You could feel it in the back of your throat at the roof of your mouth rich - that was crazy. Luckily, we got the banana cream pie which was much more subtle and I could finish that one. Not too sweet, and so I did my best to go back and forth between the two - this half I was able to polish off. After stuffing myself with some delicious seafood, we were on a hunt for some ice cream to finish off our decadent meal. It was close to 8pm so we pulled out the handy dandy Yelp app to see what was around. There was an ice cream shop super close, but it closed at 8pm. Could we make it in 13 minutes? We set off to try. While driving, I kept looking and Peace Pie popped up with an 11pm closing. Bingo. We quickly shifted gears and headed over to Peace Pie so we wouldn't risk getting to the other place and missing out on some ice cream. This place offers a huge variety of ice cream sandwiches. They are cookies filled with ice cream and pie filling. Cookies. Ice Cream. Pie. What's not to love?!? The coolers were filled with about 15 different varieties of ice cream sandwiches. After about 10 minutes of indecision, we finally made a decision. We went with banana cream pie and peanut butter chiffon. We decided to split the sandwiches so the kind guy working split them for us with a knife. Hooray! Both sandwiches were great, but I liked the banana cream pie better. Sacrilege really because I can never get enough peanut butter and chocolate. The peanut butter chiffon was super rich and I could only eat a few bites of it. The banana cream pie did a better job of not overwhelming me by being too rich. I couldn't eat all of either half. Each sandwich was $6.
