DARN! I was so excited for this ice cream sandwich and it was beautiful but it just wasn't as good as I wanted it to be. I got the cookies n cream sandwich and that ice cream was really good, but whatever the icing or cream is that they used above and below the cookies n cream to stick to the cookie was weird and I did not like it. Hate to say it but I threw most of it away because of that :( I would for sure just order their cookies n cream ice cream in a cup or cone if that's an option next time.
What a gem nestled in the heart of downtown Charleston! This cute little ice cream sandwich shop is an absolute delight for anyone with a sweet tooth. The variety here is astounding! With close to 40 different flavor combinations, it makes it hard to choose. The employee working was incredibly friendly and gave us some of her recommendations, because we were a little overwhelmed. We ended up going with the Cookie Dough, which was vanilla ice cream, chocolate mouse and cookie dough chunks, sandwiched between 2 chocolate cookies. Would highly recommend!!
Peace Pie made it on my list of things to try during our trip to Charleston. I didn't have to wait long for the craving to develop as it was hot and humid for the entire duration of our trip. On one particularly hot and humid afternoon, we stopped in to sample what they have to offer. They have tons of flavor combos including the standard shit (cookie dough, etc) and some new stuff. I tend to be a mint choco chip ride or die kind of bitch but I did see the topical pride flavor and decided to give that whirl. GF got the standard shit (cookie dough). I will agree with another review on here that the things were taken out of a freezer and it was very supermarket-esque. For some reason I thought they would be made on the spot? I also agree with that review that they were HARD AS A ROCK like you could probably break a tooth on that thing. You would think that would be appreciated in the heat but it's harder to eat that way. It was good but that isn't adequate for an ice cream sandwich. Neither of us felt compelled to finish it.
5/5 best tasting Ice Cream Sandwich I have ever had! My husband doesn't even like ice cream sandwiches and he devoured his! I ordered the crème brûlée which was so unique. It has the crème brûlée flavored ice cream with a thin layer of caramel and then the shortbread sandwich on the outside. It's the perfect sweet treat after dinner. I highly recommend Peace Pie and will be returning next time I come back to the area. It's in a great location next to the popular Hyman Seafood Restaurant and near a couple of hotels.
This is an ice cream sandwich place, with a minimal storefront (thankfully there are plenty of areas to eat outside in Charleston). I found an array of seasonal flavors in additon to the basics, and went with mint milano. The theme here is that the sandwiches have ice cream and pie fillings between two cookies, and my chocolate cookie and mint moose did go quite nicely between some neutral, shortbread-like cookies. They didn't seem to have much in the way of non-dairy items and I wouldn't call it the best dessert in town, but it was one indulgent and satisfying sandwich.
Staff were so nice. The ice cream sandwiches are BIG & delicious! I'm obsessed with mint chocolate chip & this hit the spot!
Not the best but not the worst. The food scene in Charleston is so great, I'm not sure this one measures up. We were in town trying to kill time before our flight so this was on the list. No seating inside but a few benches outside. Strawberry shortcake - yummy, the strawberry flavor was refreshing and went perfectly with the cookies The Elvis - recommended by the gentleman at the corner, but I just wasn't a fan. The chocolate just wasn't quality and wasn't as decadent as I was hoping Slightly overpriced, but if you have a hankering for an ice cream sandwich this will do the trick. Unfortunately next time I'm in Charleston this spot will not make the list
Ice cream pie on a hot day! Come early to get the popular flavors because it sells out. We came here are lunch and most of the popular flavors were no longer available. I ordered the strawberry shortcake. It is 2 shortbread cookies with strawberry ice cream in the middle. The shortbread cookies are pretty big so it seems like a huge scoop of ice cream is sandwiched in the middle. The ice cream pie was tasty and a very filling snack. However, I wouldn't say it was amazing giving me the feeling of craving it again. It is different as I don't run across many ice cream pie shops in my area.
Huge ice cream cookie sandwiches! One was big enough that my husband and I split it in 2 and it was plenty. They have so many yummy sounding flavors and it's all home made which is nice. The service I fast and the shop is cute. We got the Elvis which was great, we'd come back again if we lived local!
What an amazing alternative to the traditional ice cream cone. Peace Pie has ice cream sandwiches in all sorts of flavors. Me and the kids had Cookie dough and my husband had the Elvis one (yup, peanut butter, jelly, and banana). Even with the extremely hot temps in Charleston, they were frozen enough to eat without making too large of a mess. There appeared to only be one woman working. She was kind and friendly. We were lucky to be there without a line. I'm not sure if that's typical or not.
Ice cream sandwich galore! There's so many options of flavors to choose from, it took me a while to decide! Thankfully there was a picture menu available upon scanning a QR code which helped explain the flavors but it was still a tough choice because there were so many good ones to choose from! The sandwiches are pre-made so unfortunately no customizations but made for quick service. I enjoyed the caramel brownie one with salted caramel, vanilla ice cream and brownie pieces sandwiched between two chocolate shortbread cookies!
I asked if I could mix the flavors and she pulled out a pre-made ice cream sandwich. For $7, I was really hoping for customization and then also it was frozen so much that I couldn't even bite into it until it was defrosted. The cookie ends were crunchy but nothing to write home about. I left disappointed to have spent that much on the size of the sandwich.
Completely agree with so many reviews that this is a must try place in Charleston! The cookies are delicious and their flavor combos hit your sweet spot. We tried the Elvis and loved it! The Elvis has banana and peanut butter with chocolate ice cream and chocolate cookie. Super yummy combo! The cookies are thin and have some crunch but not crunchy and bit chewy but not too chewy. They hold up very well to the ice cream! The ice cream and cookie are frozen so it won't melt too quickly. It was cold anyways so no worries on it melting but they will hold up well in warmer weather.
This place has an interesting take on dessert. It's nice to have options that are a little outside of the box. Not only that, but you get several desserts in one! Can't decide between a cookie, a slice of pie, or ice cream? Why not have all three? I have to assume the name references keeping the peace amongst folks that cannot decide on dessert. If someone in your group wants said pie, but someone else wants said cookies, keep the peace and make everyone happy. Then, of course, comes the play on words as they relate to a "piece of pie." Catchy or corny? Meh. Open until midnight, for you late night snackers! Head in and browse the case. They have a wide variety of readymade ice cream sandwiches that are all crafted in house. It's essentially two cookies with ice cream and some variation of pie filling layered in the center. Goodness in every bite! The only downside is that the pie filling is on top of the ice cream. It should be on both sides of the ice cream so that no matter which way you bite into the sandwich, you get a bite of every layer. As it stands, that's not always the case. Sometimes you get ice cream and cookie, and sometimes you get pie filling and cookie; just based on how the cookie crumbles. No pun intended. Well, okay, maybe a little pun intended. A few flavor options include Red Velvet, Boston Cream, Coffee Toffee, Banana Pudding, S'mores, Molten Chocolate, Coconut Cream, Chocolate Covered Strawberry, Key Lime, Strawberry Shortcake, Banana Cream, and Peanut Butter! The list goes on! Pro Tip - If you have sensitive teeth, there is an art to eating one of these scrumptious sandwiches. Biting into ice cream can be a bit painful. I learned halfway in that I had to use my teeth to "break" bites off using the cookie as leverage. That usually meant only getting one side of the cookie at a time. Therefore I had to rotate the cookie with almost every bite. read more

Hi Shane!…
Very good!!! It's a bit pricey, I think it was 6 dollars for a sandwich? I don't remember. But I got the key lime pie sandwich. Really good. I split it with my fiancé's father, and it was good as a small dessert after dinner. They cut it in half for us at the place. Really awesome concept! I'd definitely come back. read more
4 stars for this interesting twist on an ice cream sandwich. Was visiting from out of town, and for every new place I go, I like to eat dessert or some sweet treat unique or popular in the area. I searched Yelp and came up with a few places, but decided on Peace Pie because an ice cream sandwich with a layer of pie filling sounded interesting. I arrived late in the afternoon on a hot and humid summer day. I was actually pretty disappointed to see that all the sandwiches were pre made and sitting in a refrigerator. No personal touch; just someone to pay and hand you your selection. After choosing the caramel brownie sandwich and consuming my treat out in the heat, I noticed a few things that set this apart from your typical ice cream sandwich: 1) the cookies sandwiching the ice cream were thin and hard, but not in a bad way! Since they aren't your traditional cookie, means no crumbs with each bite or soggy cookie from it being in contact with the filling. 2) it's actually pretty ingenious that all the sandwiches are pre made and refrigerated. My sandwich did not melt as I walked outside! Something that would have been bound to happen if my sandwich were freshly scooped. I didn't have to worry about the ice cream spilling out to one side if I took a bite from the other end. The contents were well secure between the thin cookies and the caramel held everything together. The price is mildly steep for $6-7 a sandwich, but when in Charleston... read more

DELICIOUS! We actually came here 2 nights in a row during our trip. I got the coffee toffee and the cookie dough and both were very delicious. Also, the portion size is perfect. You leave satisfied but not feeling like you need to be rolled back home. read more
Good place to stop in and cool down in the hot summer's day. This place has pretty good ice cream sandwiches filled with pie filling. There are lots of varieties you can choose from, and the best part is that they are all pre-made. I ordered the Salted Caramel Apple and Smore for $6 each. The size of the ice cream sandwiches are about the size of a hockey puck, and are a little too pricey. The Smore sandwich is the one to get and I love the marshmallows they put in the ice cream. Good place to check out, if you want to cool down. read more

Came here on st. Patrick's day and there was no line. I got the strawberry shortcake and my husband got the blueberry cobbler. First bite was a little bit hard but once it shortened a bit it was amazing! The shortbread cookie outside was so delicious and the inside strawberry shortcake part was the perfect combination. It tasted like those strawberry shortcake ice cream bars I used to eat as a kid. My husbands blueberry cobbler tasted like blueberry cobbler ice cream. The cookie part tasted like the crust of a pie with cinnamon and nutmeg and a little salt. It is a great concept and I definitely see myself coming here on a hot summer day. read more

You may be thinking "what's so special about an ice cream sandwich?", as I thought before tryin Peace Pie.... I was so wrong! I had the pecan sandwich (think pecan pie a la mode in ice cream sandwich form). I was truly impressed! If you have tried to make ice cream sandwiches on your own, you know how hard it is to make it so that the ice cream isn't melting or on the other end, the cookie isn't rock hard, and they got it perfectly with a perfect melding of flavors. The cookie/wafer was like piecrust-sugar cookie. Unbelievably good! As an added bonus, the employee was practicing a piece on his trumpet while I decided/ate (and his tone was excellent)! Great friendly guy. Wish I had stuck around to ask about the cookies/ice cream making process... I guess I will just have to go back tomorrow! read more

Delicious splurge! Yum, tried the pecan pie at the suggestion of the employee. She was spot on, it was awesome. She packed the sandwiches for takeout without any resistance and made casual conversation while preparing everything. It was truly an enjoyable experience. read more

When I stumbled on this business on Yelp I knew I had to stop at nothing to try this place ASAP! I love pie, I love ice cream, what kind of genius would make a combo of two loved desserts and convert it into a delicious ice cream sandwich?! The owner Joe that's who! Walking in, me and my husband were greeted by a super friendly, chill guy who happened to own the place. He helped me navigate through the unique flavors and my indecisiveness. I settled on banana cream pie, and my husband got the Irish coffee sandwich. The pie crust "sandwich" part held together vanilla ice cream, and a delicious banana pie custard. It was so good and unlike anything I've had! It was everything that I imagined and more! If you love coffee, the Irish coffee sandwich is a must try also. Make sure to let the sandwiches defrost for a few minutes before biting into them! This is such a fun concept and it's something unique to Charleston. Handmade, and well worth the $6 price tag. I'm excited to see what other flavors this place comes up with! In the future, It would be nice to see more places to sit, and drinks sold later on as well. I'm a big fan and can't wait for my next visit! read more

Hi Jasmine! It was such a pleasure having you in. I really enjoyed…
We got Coffee Toffee: coffee ice cream, caramel, toffee chunks, and a chocolate cookie. It's hard to walk by and NOT stop in. This place opened two days ago....the hours will likely be 11am-11pm. This is a perfect stop after lunch or after dinner. Close to the Belmont Shops. Enjoy your ice cream sandwich! read more

I came here looking forward to the pecan pie sandwich but they were sold out. I was a little disappointed but I went ahead and got the salted caramel brownie. It was delicious! This is a good place to stop for a quick dessert. We sat outside and ate ours on the benches provided read more

Dessert at Peace Pie is one of the reasons I look forward to returning to Charleston! The Triple Vanilla flavor is fantastic, but can't go wrong with any of the flavor combinations. It was about what I would expect to pay for ice cream but definitely prefer here over any ice cream shop! Also the staff is so friendly so it made the experience that much greater (: read more

Happy that we made a stop to peace pie. Was disappointed that the ice cream sandwiches were pre-made and frozen. I got one with toffee and it being rock solid and frozen made it extremely difficult to eat the toffee. Had almost a frost bite flavor because it was so frozen. Unique idea but wish it was made on site read more

Right in the middle of all the action in downtown Charleston. It has a very hippie friendly atmosphere. There are lots of options in terms of the type of "pies" you can get. We got the Banana Cream and it tasted like an actual pie! Exciting to try all the other flavors. read more

What better way to cap off a dinner at Eleve than a dessert stop at Peace Pie on the way to the car. I had never been here before, but people were walking up and down the sidewalk with their pies, and I figured it couldn't be that bad. We walked in to a freezer full of choices, and the hardest part was narrowing it down to just one (for each of us). There is a bucket list of flavors that you can take with you and check off as you return, and they have a rewards card, so after visiting a few times, you'll get one for free. Each pie is $6 a piece, and this includes tax, so if you walk in with $6, you're good to go. I tried the chocolate covered strawberry and my wife got the chocolate chip cookie dough. Both of us were very happy, but my wife did say that should could barely taste the cookie dough because the crust of the pie was so thick on both sides and overpowered the flavor. I'll definitely be back for another pie in the future when I need something sweet and cold. read more
Ice cream sandwiches with pie filling smoothed in the middle...This is a genius and delectable dessert! The cookies are thin and crunchy but hold up well to the ice cream. These are $6 each but very large. They can split them in 2 if you are sharing. read more

It's all delicious and blends some of the best desserts into one tasty, creative concept. I loved the flavors and quality, but had to do 4 vs 5 stars because it was just so gosh darn hard to eat, half way through, both me and my peace pie were a (delicious) mess. Definitely go, just be ready to bite through a big chunk of ice cream (my teeth cringe just writing that). And you can't go wrong- I went with their original pecan pie flavor and YUM! read more

Delicious cookie ice cream sandwiches! We got mint chocolate chip and strawberries and chocolate, both were delicious and filling. The cookie is still really crunchy, the ice cream and different fillings are flavorful and compliment each other . My downside for this place is how massive the peace pies are. The cookies are still hard which makes it a little difficult to eat. Since the ice cream is so good, it would be great if they could sell both the ice cream and cookies on their own because the shortbread cookies are really good. read more

Are they all hard cookies or chewy?
I agree with Gary. The cookies are a hard consistency but not like impossible to chew. It's hard to describe. It's important to let the ice cream sandwich thought a bit though
