I rarely ever write reviews but today I had to. Dr. Ivey blessed my family and I immensely today. We were able to say goodbye to our sweet boy in the comfort of our home and be outside on this beautiful sunny day. She engaged with us and our boy with such love and gentleness. As hard as today was, I could not have asked for a more beautiful way to say goodbye. Peace for Pets gave us something priceless and I will always recommend them and Dr. Ivey to anyone who has to go through this experience. read more

Dr. Ivey is a Saint. We had a terrible situation in which two of our senior pets both took a sudden turn for the worse on a Friday, and calling around Saturday morning we were unable to find anyone (understandably) who was able to help last minute on a weekend. My cat had bad anxiety with vet offices, and my worst fear was having his last memories being in fear in an unfamiliar space. Dr. Ivey was able to accommodate us into her schedule the next day, and was absolutely amazing with both of our pets. My kitty never once was afraid or nervous, I don't think he ever realized she was even there working on him during the home visit, which speaks volumes to me about her level of care and understanding individual circumstances. read more

I am not one to post reviews, but Dr Ivey deserves one. She is the most compassionate, loving, attentive Vet I have known. We never felt rushed and she let us determine the time. Our beloved cat was in our arms the whole time. He never showed any signs of being distressed, or anxious. She gave us as much time as we needed. I can't thank her enough for her kind support through this difficult time. read more

I can not say enough wonderful things about Dr. Ivey and Peace for Pets! Dr. Ivey responded quickly and compassionately when our dog Lucy became seriously ill from lymphoma. She came out the same day we needed her and reached out by phone to check on us after her passing. While it's never easy to lose a family member, we are forever grateful for such a positive experience at such a difficult time. Lucy was able to pass away so peacefully, on her own bed and in our backyard, surrounded by the people that love her the most. I couldn't have asked for more! read more

Dr. Ivey is an angel and we will forever be grateful to her. Our sweet girl's health declined very rapidly and we called Dr. Ivey early in the morning and left a message with her machine. She got back to us promptly and came over at 11:30. She greated me with a hug and so much compassion from the first second. I was free to feel my full range of emotions during the process - from intense grief and sorrow to relief and back again. My kitty was 5 pounds on her last day on earth. Dr. Ivey was so gentle, and treated her so delicately. As another reviewer mentioned, she used a towel to cover the injections. She explained each step and allowed me to take my time. I knew that my sweet girl was feeling tremendous peace in the final moments of her life. I am so, so grateful that Dr. Ivey provides this service. It can't be easy to see grieving people everyday, and to be able to hold such compassion for each person. She made this horrible necessity as wonderful as it could have been, and I am so grateful as well for the paw print in clay she'll be making for us. Edited to add a photo of the beautiful paw print Dr. Ivey made, with special attention to my girl's unique coloration. read more

Dr. Ivey is the most compassionate vet I have ever had the pleasure of speaking to. My 11-year-old puppy was at the end of her life here on earth, and in a lot of pain - which came on suddenly. While Dr. Ivey couldn't help my precious Jolie, she called me twice to make sure I was okay, and that I had found someone to take care of my girl. It comforts me to know that there are earth angels watching over us and making sure that we have peace and feel seen. Thank you Dr. Ivey, sincerely & from the heart. read more

Dr. Ivey was amazing. My 16 year old cocker spaniel, Jenny, crossed the rainbow bridge last Friday. I have never experienced so much compassion, respect and dignity when saying goodbye to my beloved baby. Dr. Ivey gets it. She is so loving, compassionate and professional. Dr Ivey helped us through a very difficult time. Her compassion for both pets and owners is remarkable. She validates the deep grief owners feel at the loss of beloved companions and treats pets with incredible care and tenderness. She explains everything clearly and respects the individual process each owner goes through to accept having to say good bye. She provides information on how to deal with grief and what to expect from the grieving process. I don't know how she does it, but she clearly has a calling. We will forever be grateful to Dr Ivey that we were able to have the peaceful death we wanted for our dog. You can't get this in any office/ hospital setting. read more

I am so incredibly thankful that the world includes people like Dr. Ivey who are able to come into others lives at the hardest of times. It has taken me months to write this and we still miss our little man every day but Dr. Ivey put my mind at ease that we were making the right decision. Our pup was not a fan of strangers but she came into our home and he went straight for her lab even though he had been mostly immobile for a few days. He knew he was there to comfort us and him. I am forever grateful for Dr. Ivey. read more

Dr. Ivey is truly a god send. My senior kitty was struggling, and it was clear that her quality of life was rapidly declining. I called Dr. Ivey in early December, in tears, distraught and unsure of what to do after consulting with two vets. I knew the time to put Winky to rest was coming near, but I could not bear the idea of taking her to the vet (a traumatic experience for my cat) and her being euthanized in a cold and uncaring environment. I wanted her final moments to be in my arms, in my home, with no fear, knowing she is loved. Over the phone during that first call (one of a few calls I made to her - she was so wonderful and patient with me), Dr. Ivey was very consoling and compassionate and knowledgeable and was kind enough to talk to me for 15 to 20 minutes on options available and suggestions on how to possibly help my ailing kitty. I let some a few more weeks pass, but when it became very clear that my senior cat was having many more bad days than good, I emailed Dr. Ivey and told her that the time had come to give Winky peace. When the day came to put Winky to rest through euthanasia, Dr. Ivey arrived and immediately gave me and my husband a hug. I was a wreck and had been for days; she was so lovely and understanding, giving us all the time we needed for each step of the process of saying goodbye. She is gentle, loving, and as compassionate a person as I've encountered in years. Saying goodbye to a beloved animal and setting them free is one of the most difficult decisions one has to make, and Dr. Ivey was truly the only person I could imagine assisting with this process. After the procedure was over, I cried a lot with Dr. Ivey, my husband, and Winky (who was finally at rest after weeks/months of distress and illness). At no point was there a rush on any part of the process. Dr. Ivey's demeanor is one of the kindest and most comforting I have ever encountered. On her departure from our house, Dr. Ivey gave us both one final hug and asked that we contact her at any time and talked to us about the grieving process (she also provided a very helpful handout with resources on how to handle losing a beloved pet). A week letter, a lovely personal card from Dr. Ivey arrived in the mail; her words warmed my heart beyond measure and reminded me that despite the pain I was feeling, setting Winky free was the right thing to do. I cannot recommend Dr. Ivey highly enough. Thank you for the service you provide and for your warm and reassuring soul. read more

Our wee boy, Al, had a heart condition as do many other Cavaliers. His illness took a rapid turn for the worse on Labor Day, September 2nd, exactly one month before he would have celebrated his 10th birthday. He was in distress and breathing rapidly using his diaphragm. I called Dr. Ivey and I was actually caught off guard that she answered her phone on a holiday. She was able to establish very quickly that we needed her and she arrived at our home within 30 minutes of my call. Dr. Ivey deserves more than five stars. She brought such peace with her into our home that day and we will forever be grateful for her kindness, compassion, and expertise. Al was a certified canine therapist for 7 years and he brought the same degree of commitment to his purpose as did Dr. Ivey on that very sad day. Thank you Dr. Ivey! read more

Dr. Ivey is the best vet I have ever come across. She's truly sincere about the situation and how I felt as an owner and fur-mama to my baby boy. As soon as she arrived she gave me a hug and told me it'll be okay and that I was brave, and that this was a gift for him. So that he wouldn't have to suffer anymore. She was very patient with all my crying and didn't make any moves without asking me if it's okay or if I was ready. She explained every step she took during the euthanasia process and what would happen to him. I really appreciated that. She also offered for me to have some time alone with my baby (13 year old Yorkie Mix with a lot of health problems) before she took him away. Although I refused the offer, I greatly appreciated it. I couldn't stand to see my baby lifeless any longer. She put his body in a cute basket wrapped in a couple of towels. She was very compassionate yet professional about the whole situation. I definitely recommend Dr. Ivey to anyone who truly loves their fur-baby and doesn't want them to suffer. This is the best way to say goodbye. In a place they are comfortable, where you can sit/lay with them, and say goodbye. I'll never be able to express my gratitude for Dr. Ivey. It's rare to find doctors, human and animal, who truly care. read more

Can't express our gratitude enough for dealing with this gut-wrenching decision and process. She supported us every step of the way and on incredibly short notice. It became apparent yesterday that our beloved lab was not going to beat cancer and a spleen removal surgery. Her last 24-hours were not good. The prospect of hauling an injured, panicked dog into a strange pet ER at 2 a.m. terrified us. Dr. Ivey came on a holiday and immediately grasped our bond with our pet. We said our goodbyes as Dr. Ivey made Daisy comfortable and soothed her. What a wonderful person. If only humans could get such care. Some day. read more

Dr. Ivey is so compassionate and kind during the entire process. From the initial phone call to book the appointment to her leaving your home, she's kind and handles everything very professionally. Hello fellow Yelper, If you're reading this it means your pet is very sick and you have to find someone to help end your pets suffering. For that, I'm truly sorry to both of you; However I'm very glad you've come across this lady, because she will help make your goodbye a peaceful one as she did the same for us on July 3, 2015 for our kitty of 15 years, Yoda who is now happily running through Heavens Medows. This lady, Dr. Evelynn is so amazingly wonderful I can not say enough great things about her. It takes a special person to do this kind of work. She sat with us during one of the saddest times in our lives. The amount of empathy she gave us was almost saintly in my eyes. I can't think of a better word to describe her spirit & calming presence. Putting our kitty down was very hard. I'd never done anything like that before. All our animals in the past had run away, we never had to make this choice before. What made it especially challenging was Yodas roller coaster of ups & downs in her health after the Dr declared her "beyond recovery". We knew we had to prepare to say goodbye but could not & honestly did not want to choose a date since the medicines were working and we didn't want to put her to sleep on a day when she was feeling peppy or worse yet, chose a day too late which means she would pass naturally and painfully. We ideally wanted to wait until the day of or maybe the day before. Since we called several Drs it seemed there was no getting around picking a date. All at home euthanasia Dr were asking us to pick a day. That is until we found Dr Evelynn. Evelynn was very patient and never asked me to commit to a day since I didn't really know yet. She never asked for a deposit or to sign any contracts. She said I could call her 24 hours in advance and would also do her best to come same day if needed if she could. That instantly put my heart & mind at ease allowing me to enjoy my last days with my baby. Dr E checked in with me to see how I was doing and walked me through the process so I would know what was to be expected. She was sweet kind and calm.. She helped Yoda fall asleep first before giving her the medicine which helped her feel no pain. Peace for Pets offers cremation services and extras which was a nice option. However, We decided to bury Yoda in the yard. I made a pretty casket out of a shoe box and wrapped it with pretty wrapping paper and decorated it with jewels. I put her little blanket inside to make it comfy for her final resting place. Evelyn put Yoda in the box and made her look pretty & peaceful. We gathered around as a family, played some goodbye music -lullabys from lady & the tramp (la la loo) and (stay awake) from Mary poppins. Evelyn took her time while we let Yoda have one last stroll outside & allow her to say goodbye to her fury family before we put her to sleep. She never rushed us and even asked us personal questions about Yoda. She gave us space to share good memories with her too. when Yoda left to join our family and friends on the other side Evelynn helped ease my mind about making the hard choice. She helped me feel better that I did the right thing. To top it off, if that wasn't good enough, she followed up with condolence texts, and even a hand written note in the mail. By the way I forgot to mention she came to us on July 3rd which was a busy holiday weekend with only a few hours notice. I really cant say enough great things about her. During this difficult time you want someone who really cares by your side; as they will be the last person you and your beloved pet will spend time with. I earnestly hope you will use her. I don't know how I got so lucky getting her. I think God sent her my way. Thank you Dr. Evelynn Love, The Prendergast family read more

I've been meaning to write a review for Dr. Ivey, but my family and I have been keeping busy. We have been slowly getting used to life without our beautiful chihuahua. It's only been a week, but it is still a loss that will take a bit of time for us to recover from. As painful as it was for our whole family to go through this rough experience, Dr. Ivey was amazing to us from the moment she picked up my phone call. It was heartbreaking to watch my baby's passing, yet it also felt extremely peaceful and beautiful because she was treated with such care and compassion. My family and I wish to thank you for doing this for us. To anyone who is going through this same situation, and is looking for someone to help their babies cross the rainbow bridge, do not hesitate to call Dr. Ivey. read more

It seems there really isn't anything else to say about Dr. Ivey that hasn't already been said. She is absolutely wonderful. We had to say goodbye to our beloved almost-20 year old cat about 10 days ago. I had already located Dr. Ivey online and knew I wanted her help. When I called her and left a message she got back to me very quickly, and even offered to hold more than one time for me in case I decided I needed a little more time with my buddy. We agreed on the earlier time as I just didn't want to drag it out too long, and she rang our bell at exactly the appointed time. She was so kind and compassionate and gentle. After having two previous experiences with euthanasia in veterinarian offices that were much more stressful, I couldn't believe how lovely and peaceful the whole thing was at home. Being able to sit on our couch with Max in my arms and my husband at my side was just priceless. It felt like the ultimate gift of love we could give to the guy who gave me almost 20 years of himself. I just wish I had been able to do the same for his sister who went 6 months earlier at the vet. This is the only way I will do it in the future if possible. As someone else on here mentioned, Dr. Ivey arrived with a sweet little wicker basket, and after he had gone she helped me gently place Max into the basket and arranged him in the coziest position, covering him up with soft towels. She let us take as much time as we needed to at every point along the way. When she left she gave us both big hugs and followed up later in the week with a sweet card. I truly could not give her a higher recommendation, and I am so thankful that she has taken on this difficult, but so important, profession. read more

Dr Ivey provides a compassionate service that you cannot place a price. To have my beloved friend die in the comforts of his own home, sitting in his favorite spot in the sun, surrounded by our beagle and family, was the greatest gift that we could receive. For days I had a feeling of impending doom but, once she arrived, it took that feeling right away. It was the right thing to do, and she was the right person to do it. After finding out a few days prior that he had a mass that was compromising his airway, I emailed Dr Ivey late at night and received a phone call from her the next morning. We were able to discuss options and came up with a plan for when she would come to our home. Just speaking with her on the phone ensured me that she was the right choice, and she really helped us through some difficult times. The process was explained to us and went just as planned. Kaiser quickly relaxed, then dozed off into his eternal slumber without any pain or suffering. I never imagined that holding him through this process would be just as therapeutic for me as it was for him. I am forever grateful for the experience that Dr Ivey gave me and my family. read more

When it came time to say goodbye to my sweet cat of 15 years, I was so relieved to find Dr. Ivey and her services. Dr. Ivey made what was one of toughest and most heart-wrenching decisions I've had to make easy and beautiful (as much as something horrible can be). Instead of a cold vet room, we were able to say goodbye to my cat in our bedroom, with him on my lap, purring until the very end.
