She hates this box, poor baby.
    Ursula O.

Long story short-I had a friend sleep over while we were attending Aftershock. Normally, my kitty, Sophie, sleeps with me... but she didn't while my friend stayed over. Sophie seemed heart-broken and wouldn't come in my room while company was there. After my company left, she still seemed hurt. By the next morning, she was so stressed, she wasn't eating or drinking her water. She wasn't following me to the kitchen like she normally does. She was hiding. I was worried. So I called VCA Loomis Basin Veterinary Clinic. They already had all of Sophie's information because I came here to get her shots when she was just weeks old. They told me to bring her in when I could. I think I was there in 35 minutes. First, they assessed Sophie to make sure she wasn't suffering too much. Then, they took me to a room and brought Sophie in there with me. They asked me first if it was ok to give her a mild sedative because she did not like being handled by people she didn't know. Then veterinarian came in and was so gentle with Sophie. She checked under her tongue, checked her belly. Checked for dehydration. She was definitely dehydrated. After a few suggestions, I went with 2 of the 4 options given. They hydrated Sophie and gave her an anti nausea medicine. Thankfully, that seemed to do the trick. That evening, Sophie came to bed with me and stayed in me all night. She had me so to herself. By this morning, she followed me to the kitchen and was ready to eat. I am so blessed and thankful for VCA Loomis Basin Veterinary Clinic. I had an Emergency and they helped Sophie feel better. They took very good care of her as if she was their own.

Yesterday, my kitty cat, her name was baby was brought in by woman who found her because she had escaped out my front door a couple nights prior. She has a little bit of a twitch from being sick when she was a kitten, and started having seizures about two years ago, other than that was in perfect health, a happy, playful cat, who had the most wonderful personality to make a long story short after a few long days of making flyers, an oh calling out for her I find out the lady took her Herean in their recommendation was to euthanize her so my baby made it to safety to be put down! I spoke to two different girls yesterday. Neither one of them had the decency to tell me, they let me think Once I got through to Animal control today I could go pick her up. This place made a foul recommendation which was completely wrong and employees who have absolutely no moral compass. My poor sweet baby!!

I adopted a yorkie about a year ago and he developed a lump on his neck that continued to get larger. I took him in to see DVM Walter's and she suggested we remove it and get it biopsy- I was a little nervous but took him in tho morning for his appointment- VCA staff called me yesterday to ensure I was aware of time to drop off, meds to give him, etc ... dropped him off in am and got a call around 11 to pick him up - all went well so I'm glad in chose VCA

The happy boy who doesn't know he narrowly avoided emergency surgery!

I made an ER visit to VCA Loomis Basin on a Saturday morning, after the dog I'm sitting swallowed a toy. The front desk was welcoming and efficient, followed by a super friendly vet tech who triaged us in a timely manner. The waiting room was clean, good signage, lots of seating, space, coffee and hand sanitizer available. Our vet, Dr. Jill Aschehoug, was patient, savvy, gave options based on a wealth of experience, and explained every step. Our long day ended with a MAJOR success-- Dr. A was able to skillfully remove the obstruction and avoid major surgery. Such a pro. Such a relief. All day, I watched pets come in and out... and although you could tell they were busy in the back, I noticed how much time and attention each family was given. I highly recommend this place to anyone within driving distance. Thank you, VCA!

Dr. West (IM) and RVT Amy are amazing! Brought my little guy here for a second opinion and Dr. West got him squared away on the first visit! Both of them were extremely kind and thorough-- it was very obvious they read all his records prior to my first visit so we were able to jump right in! Chunky didn't tolerate one of the new compounded meds, but Amy and Michelle were diligent on following up when he was vomiting, even asking the other specialist for direction on Dr. Wests weekend which was much appreciated to get us relief sooner! I love that they give you a visit summary to go home with as well (with fun stickers!), so I can show my family members who pup-sit. As for the facility-- extremely clean (dare I say spotless), great signage, lots of cute photos on the walls, and on a beautiful property. The receptionists are super welcoming. Well worth the drive from Davis! As a vet tech myself and self proclaimed "helicopter mom", I only want the best for my little guy-- they met and exceeded all my expectations and I whole heartedly recommend them.

This is my sweet baby they spun in a chair for 2 hours.

My cat ate about 10" of dental floss. It was pretty late at night so my husband called around to find a 24 emergency vet. He called this one and we were told they could do an x-ray and endoscopy to remove the floss. It was a very foggy night, but we read the dangers of floss making it into the intestinal track and was very worried, so we drove 1.25 hours to go to this vet under the assumption that the floss would be removed so we would not have to take the chance of my cat dying. Well when we got there they told us they were going to try to make her throw up to get the floss out. It took them two hours to give meds and of spinning my poor cat in a chair just to come and tell us she did not throw up, we will have to go home and come back at 6am for the doctor to arrive. By the time this whole nightmare was over at 6am the floss would have already reached my cats intestinal track so at 6 am they couldn't even preform the endoscopy. They basically lied to us to tell us to come in and they could x-ray and preform the endoscopy. My husband and I put our lives at risk to drive 1 hour and 15 minutes on one of the most foggy nights I have ever seen because we were told they could do the endoscopy when we arrived! If we had to wait till 6am we could have just gone to a local vet. I am so disgusted by this place that calls themselves emergency veterinary office. What a joke! Read what can happen if your cat eats floss, tell me if you would be worried and want an emergency veterinary to look at your baby too. Hugh waste of our time and money, not to mention the fact that we told them how far we were coming and they knew how foggy it was. Oh and the vet told us to drive erratically on the way home in hopes of getting the cat to throw up in the car! SMFH

In April 2025, our baby Sunny started showing distress when breathing, and we rushed her to Marqueen. The staff immediately took her back, did a thorough examination and found she had heart failure. They were patient and understanding as they helped my partner and I put her on a medication plan to help her. Unfortunately, she was back in July of 2025, and we had to make the difficult decision to say goodbye to her. Dr Pacheco and every vet technician and staff member were very kind and empathetic during this process, and I know Sunny received the best care possible. In December, my sweet 7-year-old Golden, Addie, was diagnosed with severe pulmonary edema by her primary vet. This hit us out of nowhere because, despite being so sick, she, being the sweet girl that she was, was still doing everything she could to please us and love on us. Even though it was Christmas time and they were very busy, we were able to schedule an appointment with Marqueen for the next day (Christmas Eve) to see if we could pull some of the fluid off and make things easier for her. We were hoping to have some time. During her initial exam, she was all loves and tail wags for the tech and the vet. She didn't act like she was super ill. Typical Addie. She only wanted to love on her new friends. Dr. McDonald pulled her back for a scan and a more thorough check. When she brought her back in, by the look on her face, I just knew. She had to give me the news that Addie was decompensating and was in the process of dying. We likely had hours. Despite her tail wags and eager disposition, her body was giving out on her. We discussed our options, and we decided together to let her go peacefully before she really started to struggle. Dr. McDonald and the Marqueen team allowed me to go home quickly to get our other dog, my husband, and our daughter so everyone could say goodbye. They watched over her while I was gone. Upon our return, they allowed us all the time we needed to love on her just as she had loved on us for seven years. When it was time, I laid down on the floor, big-spooned my sweet girl, and told her how much we loved her. I thanked her for being the amazing girl that she was. Dr. McDonald walked us through the entire process. She had a calm voice and was so soothing to us, and to Addie. We were allowed to spend as much time as we needed with her after she passed. Not once did we feel rushed. We were even able to bring our other dog in to say goodbye. While it was an absolutely devastating time, I can't say enough about the compassion that the Marqueen staff provided to us that day. I was able to leave knowing we made the best decision for our Addie girl, and that her passing was as smooth and peaceful as we could provide. Thank you, Dr. McDonald. I hope you see this, because I have thought of you so much since that day and truly appreciate how warm and kind you were. Thank you for being so... human. Addie was an amazing girl, and she deserved to have a vet just as amazing to help her through her final steps toward the rainbow bridge.

We left there and VSH was about 10 minutes away. They weren't busy with waiting room semi empty. We spoke to the receptionist. She was very nice, friendly and helpful. Which is I know is different if one place is hectic. Employees will be irritated but if you choose this high stress job. You will have to deal with drama that comes with it. This place was not the same in every single details to the previous ER vet we were at. Air in the reception area flow well throughout. No claustrophobic atmosphere. Very courteously warm in etiquette and proper addressing to their clients. Very pleasant in all. We got called to go to a room which wasn't too long before we see anyone. The vet tech came in took our girl to assess and the vet came in not too long after to let us know that she have a small puncture wound but nothing else more. Due to it being in such an awful area. Doing anything more will only make it worse. So she cleaned the wounds and will prescribe an antibiotics to help so it doesn't get infected and also a pain meds clavamox to help to keep her comfortable. The quickest easiest vet visit EVER HAVE! So we have to say that we are very grateful for them. We also don't live in Roseville. Just visiting my brothers and the family. So Thank you to all the staff here for making our already stress situation less stress. We are truly blessed to discover this place. Thank you

When you're dealing with a giant breed puppy showing symptoms that can be life threatening, that kind of dismissal is extremely unsettling. After waiting, we did see the veterinarian. She was kind, professional, and explained the next steps clearly. Later in the day I was called to pick him up and was told he just had a very upset stomach and needed to start prescription dog food. However, no one not the tech or the front desk provided any information about how to obtain the prescription food. No written prescription, no instructions, nothing. I had to call my personal vet, who explained that I needed a written prescription and that the food had to be purchased at PetSmart. This is basic discharge information that should have been provided. Overall, the veterinarian was great, but the tech staff's communication and the discharge process were frustrating and disappointing.

September 20, 2020…read more Dr. Venable and staff at Sterling Pointe Vetrinary, My name is Erin Justus and I wanted to let you know how happy and thankful we are after receiving the PRP treatment for our beautiful long hair shepherd, Maui. Maui is only 5 years old and started showing trouble getting up, limping, and discomfort. She could not even make it one time around our neighborhood for a walk, could not jump in the car, could not run and retrieve her beloved ball. She lost all zest for life, and it was so sad to watch her move like a 15 year old dog. We often cried with the thought that we would have to put her down because of her pain. We had looked into hip surgery but the cost was too expensive for us. Remember, Maui is only 5 years young! My daughter-in-law told me about Sterling Point Vet and the PRP treatment that they do to help dogs with hip dysplasia and lameness. We scheduled an appointment for a consultation with Dr. Venable and she felt Maui could benefit from the treatment. On August 6, 2020 Maui had her PRP treatment and within 2 days she was feeling fine, not needing any pain pills, and showing improvement, not only in her ability to get up a little better, but the look in her eyes that she was free from her discomfort! Within, 2 weeks, she was stretching out her back legs when she got up in the morning, which she was never able to do before( she would try in the past but she just couldn't do it). She is now walking, jumping in the car, chasing the ball, and full of life as a 5 year old shepherd should be! We are so thankful for Dr. Venable and the staff and the success of the PRP treatment, we would recommend this to any one who has a dog struggling with hip dysplasia. Thank you so much, Dr. Venable, we are eternally grateful for educating us about this treatment, the cost effectiveness of it, and your help in giving Maui her life back!! Sincerely, Erin Justus Roseville, CA

As time went on, however, it feels like we only became a money pool for them. Our dog began to have recurring skin & ear issues. We were told 3 different ways to clean him by 3 different people who worked here, but none of these treatments worked. In fact, they made it worse. We ended up figuring it out on our own, which is unfortunate being you would hope a vet would be able to give experienced advice, let alone 3 of them. We overlooked this as the business was always very kind and seemed to have our best interest in mind. As his skin and ear issues became worse, despite our best efforts, the only thing we walked away with every visit was a $300-$400 bill and the same medication that basically just kept the issues from getting worse. Finally, after years of bills and medication / guidance that did not solve anything, we tried a different vet. They prescribed him medication and his skin and ear issues went completely away within a week. It is the first time in years we have seen his skin and ears look so good and he seems happier. I don't write reviews often but it sort of hit me that our dog had been dealing with medical issues for years and we trusted this place with setting us up for success to make sure we were getting our dog what he needed. Then, after thousands of dollars, a new vet solves everything in a single visit. Hopefully we are a one off. But I would not recommend this business.

The surgeon was highly skilled and achieved clean margins. The lump was later confirmed to be malignant, but five months later there is still no known spread. Thanks to this thorough exam, my dog received needed dental care and had cancer detected and treated early. Because she is brachycephalic, the team closely monitored her breathing and recovery. They safely completed both procedures in one surgery while carefully managing her specific risks. Dr. Collins' Care Dr. Collins is an outstanding veterinarian--friendly, empathetic, thorough, and genuinely invested in my dog's health. She is also thoughtful and practical in her treatment approach. We've seen her twice. My senior dog first visited for an upset stomach, and given her cancer history, Dr. Collins ordered X-rays to rule out blockage or metastasis--both were negative. At our most recent visit, she warmly described my dog as a sweetheart and a great patient, reflecting her clear compassion for animals. I'm very grateful for her excellent care. Technicians and Receptionists Despite a stressful visit, I felt supported and understood. The technicians were extremely thorough, followed all hospital policies including consent before recording, took detailed notes, and asked thoughtful questions I might have missed. The reception staff were also patient and helpful, even when I came up multiple times with questions. When I requested an update, someone promptly checked on my dog. It's clear the entire team truly cares about animals, and the positive morale is evident. Overall, they deserve 5 out of 5 stars. The pricing is moderate, but compared to the well-known vet in Loomis we were going to, it's been almost half the price.

I took my dog to the Plaza Drive location in Rocklin earlier this week and unfortunately had a…read moredisappointing experience. The veterinary technician (an older woman with short hair and tattoos; I didn't catch her name) interrupted my explanation of my dog's bloody stool and assured me that the stool sample I brought in would provide all the necessary information. She told me that photos and additional details were unnecessary. The lab results later came back negative, but my dog continues to have blood in his stool, so it's possible that the additional information could have been helpful. The following morning, I was informed that the test results were negative. I explained that my dog was still experiencing the same symptoms and was told that the veterinarian, Dr. Stephen Harris, would call me shortly to discuss possible causes and next steps. That was yesterday, and I have yet to receive a call. The only communication I've received since then was an automated text message asking me to complete a survey and leave positive feedback about their services. I was also concerned about some of the charges on my bill. When I asked the Vet Tech about an "Ear Cleaning - Difficult" charge, despite my dog being muzzled and sedated during the procedure, the technician could not explain why it was applied. She ultimately changed it to a standard ear cleaning charge. The price difference wasn't significant, but it raised concerns about the accuracy of the billing. Overall, the lack of communication, dismissal of important information about my dog's condition, and questionable billing practices left me with a negative impression. I would recommend that anyone visiting this clinic carefully review their invoice and ask for explanations of any charges they don't understand. I don't even do yelp reviews except to help small businesses, but when they asked for a positive review after all that I decided to give them an honest one.
