Prices are 6x higher than other clinics. They think everything is ulcers. Now that they took over our local vets, we are struggling even more. They can't treat cattle, sheep, Goats. What's the point of them coming into HUMBOLDT county? Not thrilled. Never in my life have I paid $800 - $1400 for a colic call, until now. Going to avoid this vet as much as possible.

I WISH I NEVER BROUGHT MY HORSE HERE!! On January 17th I called in for an antibiotic for my horse and never got it. I was told someone was going to give me a call back and no one called. On Monday I called for a doctor to come out, and they sent a doctor out without the medication that we needed. I couldn't believe this especially after being charged $500 just for someone to come out. Gabby who was the doctor that came out, did a fabulous job while she was out, it was just unfortunate that they didn't provide her with the medication. I called at 4am the next morning concerned that I still didn't get the correct medication that I had asked for all week and wanted to speak to a manager. Never received a call back from the manager. I took my horse there on 01/23/2024 in the morning. I called around 3:30 that day to check on him and I was told that someone would call me back. At around 4:30 since I haven't heard back from anyone I called back and I was told the same thing that someone would call me back and no one did. The next morning on 01/24/2024 I called back and was told someone should be calling me this morning and if I didn't hear anything back, call back in 20 minutes. Again no call. Last night I decided to go out unannounced because I felt things weren't right. Sure enough when I got there, I see my horse laying there with his face smothered onto the wall with him only breathing out of one nostril. I asked them why didn't they move him and they said they tried. I also noticed that my horse was drenched in water from head to toe because the room was so hot that he was sweating. I asked for a bucket of water immediately and took the bucket of water myself to cool him off. I then asked them if they had air conditioning and why wasn't it on. They then turned on the air conditioning after he had already been there over 30 hours burning hot. The room was like a sauna. You could physically see the steam in the air. They advised me that it was okay to let him rest laying down. They told me that if they pick him up that it would agitate him and could cause complications. I then asked them how long he could lay down and I was told 6-8 hours. At the time when I arrived and the time that they said he was laying down approximately 3 hours had gone by. They said that they were going to let him rest and get him up in the morning around 8am the next day and then give me a call. They thought I had left at that point, but because of the condition that I found him in I decided to stay without them knowing it. 45 minutes went by and then decided to go check to see if they turned the air on. When I went to his room door I saw blood that wasn't there before on the floor. I then noticed that they were doing something to him. When I opened the door he had been moved from the wall in which he couldn't breathe and was placed in the middle of the floor where he should have been from the beginning. He appeared to be cooled off since they turned the air on. They said that they were going to let him rest and then I left. Not even 25 minutes went by and they called to tell me that he couldn't breathe well and he had died. I then learned that horses shouldn't be laying down for any extended periods of time and not definitely laying down for 3 hours. They left him there with his nose pressed against the wall having trouble breathing through one nose since the other one was blocked. A customer shouldn't have to tell them to turn on the air, move his face off the wall or ask for a bucket of water to cool any animal down that's brought there. They went to charge me $2500 the first day and $1700 the next day when the horse was in bad conditions. We would have been better off treating him at home since no one was really watching him and helping him accordingly. Th

They were clear in the beginning that they operate sepratelty and that was super helpful to know. My only complaint is that some of the front desk staff have a tendency to malinger and chat with you in the front. When I come in I am very open for small talk but there have been a couple of times I've come in and I felt like we were almost being held hostage with small talk. One day checkout took about 25 min, when it really should have taken half that. I simply just didn't have the time. I appreciate the friendliness, but I would also appreciate the social awareness as well. Just make sure you pad your appointment times with some extra time to chat as well.

You prefer patients get medication at your clinic. So do I, you prescribed pregabalin for Tess that is hard to find, your clinic doesn't fill it and prices range from 300 down to 34. Chewy doesn't have it. All I needed was for your staff to ok the fill over the phone with no additional paperwork. This involved checking the prescription on the computer and authorizing it. They said no twice even after contacting a manager. 2. You were Charlie's PTP. You had all his records, ordered tests and handled some of his routine follow-up while he was being treated at UC Davis. We spent thousands of dollars at your clinic on Charlie for tests. UC Davis indicated within 5 minutes of me taking him there that he had a pronounced heart murmur. He had been seen at your clinic only one week before. I don't know if you listened to his heart, but Davis was very surprised that our vet had not caught the murmur. Charlie had endocarditis, we will never know if catching it earlier would have made any difference but the endless scans to his abdomen and numerous blood tests were financially very difficult and in the end heartbreaking and unnessary. I would have appreciated if some common sense could have been used given Tess" prescription as what you prescribed is not easy to obtain, and that a more thorough routine exam of Charlie could have been done prior to running expensive tests. These pets are loved family members. Thank you

Doctor left and she took my dog in back and I waited for 30 min. Asking reception where is my dog she only getting two shots. Jenna finally came in and said it takes 10 min for a heart worm test. I told her I didn't request a test! She informed me she needed one to get the shot. I told her that's not what the doctor said. She had all her lab work done previously when she got neutered. She said that was 2025 last year. I said could you please go back and read her chart you got the wrong dog! She was here two months ago. To make it short we were there for hour and 15 min. I refused to pay for the test that I did not request she wouldn't give her the heart worm shot. Secondly manager asked why I requested for Jenna not to be seen in the future with my dog. Told her the story and she said it's just a miscommunication and told the receptionist to make sure they charge me for a physical exam. Which they added the heart worm exam with it. That cost $82 for the exam n I usually pay only $45 totally ripped off and manager didn't help at all!!

I wanted to save some money by purchasing allergy medication online. It was half the price South Auburn veterinary clinic was charging. This was not done with conversations about facts, but with statements lacking nuance and assuming that all people who are not vets are idiots. This veterinarian may not be for you if you believe in species appropriate diets, spacing out vaccines, using titer testing, or any attempt to engage in dialogue that goes against their beliefs. I was treated like I might lick my uncleaned counter after prepping raw meats or like I might lick my fingers after picking up dog poo in my yard. On the positives, they do have good weekend availability, fairly reasonable pricing and if you are 100% on board with Western Vet medicine without need for intuition or nutritional approaches, then you will like most of them. There are some truly great people at this vet clinic & not every experience has been negative. My review is based on their unwillingness to have the pet owner be a part of the process and to not being open to dialogue about different approaches to nutrition & care options.

He had started bleeding on Sunday - and we could not find an emergency vet open that had available appointments - but ended up at the one in Shingle Springs - DO NOT USE THEM. It was a horrible experience with them. They took him away from us - and would not let us stay with him and put him in a cage in the back room for over an hour. They even wanted to anesthetize our boy Elgin to get x-rays of his sinus and chest. They did not seem to care that he was a senior - 13 yrs. almost - and doing that would have killed him on the table. They even had the nerve to bring us the 'orders form to sign' which had that they were going to go ahead and anesthetize him anyway - if I had not caught that on the 'form tablet' before I signed - he would have been killed at that clinic. He turned out to have an oversized heart - and a 'dark mass' in his chest. The bill was around $800 for that one visit. The doctor wanted us to go to Loomis Basin Clinic and have a CT done on him the next day - what a stupid vet - they have to anesthetize to do a CT. Do NOT use that vet!!!! The next day - Monday - we called around and found that Companion Vet Clinic had an opening to see Elgin. When we got there he had started bleeding profusely from his nostrils again. BUT, they put us in a room WITH HIM. The vet tech came in and turned out she used to be the x-ray tech at Loomis Basin and did the CT's for this type of condition - probably tumor (cancer) of the sinus. She said that he would not have made it through the CT - age and the end results would have ended his life. Furthermore, she told us that that procedure (even on younger dogs) is brutal and does not end well - most can't recover or even tolerate the surgery (which would be after the CT). SO, we let our boy Cross The Rainbow Bridge with the help of the staff at Companion Vet. THEY ARE THE BEST PEOPLE WHO REALLY CARE DEEPLY ABOUT YOUR BELOVED PETS. Highly recommend them. And we found out they are open - emergency hours - on the weekend. They made the arrangements for cremation and everyone signed a beautiful card to us about our boy Elgin. So. Maggie Laney introduced me to Dr. Pam and the Meadow Vista Veterinary Clinic. Now my story goes like this. Our puppy had a lower canine tooth that was turned inward and hitting the roof of his mouth. The first vet saw it and said that might be a problem. The second vet said it was an immediate problem and had to come out right away and was referring me to a specialist. As I was standing in her office, my phone rings and it is the specialist telling me they had a spot open to see Edson at 7:05 am the next day. I went to see them and I should have asked how much the consultation would be. The "specialist" said it was a problem and needed to come out right away. She spent less than 15 minutes with us and then her assistant came in with an estimate sheet that was between $700 to $900....something didn't feel right. I went to the desk to check out and was hit with a bill of $125.00. Now I know something wasn't right. I called my wife and said I think we should get a second opinion. I reached out to another vet to tell them I needed a second opinion. They fit us in and spent the better part of an hour going over a diagram and plastic model of a dogs jaw and teeth. He explained in detail the pros and cons and the risks involved. He he said it was a doozy and that it needed to come out...His estimate was $350. His office visit fee...$35...Only problem was he was booked out for another week and a half. Meadow Vista had us scheduled in for the extraction a few days later and I decided to trust Maggie's judgement. After all, Maggie does know what she is doing regarding dogs and their health care....if she trusted Dr. Pam, that was good enough for me. She even gave him a treatment before she left to see if it would help his mobility. After the consult, I received a very thorough email from Dr. Chandler giving me a breakdown of my dog's prognosis along with some treatment options. She reached out to other mobile vets on my behalf and provided helpful links for every option of care that she gave me. Jennifer also followed up to check on Oakley to see how he was doing. When it was time to make the decision for me to let him go, I texted Dr. Chandler (after hours on her day off). She still responded. She came out a couple days later to our home and we were able to give him a peaceful goodbye on our lawn, which was his favorite place.
