PDQ Chicken - A sandwich made with love - Chicken Shop Near Me - Dania Beach, Florida

Don't say u know chicken if u don't know PDQ! I'm no stranger to this gustatory institution, having visited the Ft. Lauderdale location many a time, mostly just to escape the soul-crushing drudgery of my day job during my short lunch break. PDQ is here to prove that chicken tenders aren't just for babies anymore. As I believe it is unfair to judge an establishment on just one initial visit, I will be presenting this review in three movements. First Movement This fresh new location is perched prominently right at the mouth of the recently developed Dania Pointe pleasuredome, just a boomerang toss away from the newly opened Outhouse Steakback. I decided to visit one afternoon with my ladyfriend for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised to find the restaurant mostly empty (I really can't stand people, especially while I eat!). They have an open plan style kitchen so you can see all the cooks in the kitchen. And, not for nothing, but there were a lot of cooks in that kitchen. Some might even speculate that there were too many cooks in that kitchen, but I digress. Once at the ordering counter, the servant asks you a bunch of questions before even asking what you would like to eat. The whole thing becomes very confusing. Luckily, there was a seemingly more qualified servant overseeing the lesser servants in case they got the order wrong. They got the order wrong. My ladyfriend only gets a half hour lunch break so we had to quickly stuff our faces for her to make it back in time. Second Movement I decided to pay another visit to PDQ, solo this time, and same as my first visit there were a lot of confusing questions but both times the order came out "Pretty Darn Quick." This time the dining room was better attended. I was once again treated to a diverse and eclectic selection of music, ranging from jovial 80's pop rock sweetness and contemporary country twanginess to mid 90's R&B sassiness. They make the servants call out your name on a microphone when your order is ready, and as I mentioned the service is Pretty Darn Quick so I got to hear a lot of names: James! Laura! Carlos! Henwietta! Bobo! Frank! Yimmy! At some point they called out "Junior!" and a full grown man came up to get his food. How bizarre! Soon enough, the carefree new wave stylings of General Public's "Tenderness" filled the air, a song by the pop supergroup of sorts which acted as a songwriting vehicle for ex-members of the Specials, Dexy's Midnight Runners and the Clash, helping to define the sound of 1984. And what a song title so apt! The food was good, although they had run out of mayo packets so I had to dip my fries in my milkshake. Third Movement It was early evening and the atmosphere was awash with moisture, post a freshly-purged deluge. The warm glow of the PDQ signage beckoned amidst the recently vanished sunlight. Once inside, I spotted an older gentlemen in a corner booth curled up with the newest Lee Child novel and tenders basket. I approached the dais to give my orders to the servant. Her name was Aqua, like the Euro-pop group that rose to prominence in the late nineties with their breakthrough smash hit Barbie Girl. A chart-crushing monstrosity of a single who's subject matter touched on trite sexual innuendos, brash consumerism, and childhood nostalgia. A foreshadowing to the plethora of "musical" atrocities which would emerge in the forthcoming noughties. I placed my order after the typical barrage of questions and my feed was soon underway. I was pleasantly surprised when the feed arrived to find a third tender added to the two-fer basket I had ordered. The servant must've sensed my potentially Yelpish charm and added a freebie to appease me. The tenders and fries were (Good) at best. A downgrade from the (VG+) I experienced that first day with my ladyfriend. The milkshakes were at one point drinkable, but now seem to straddle a thin line between shake and just ice cream with a straw. Like sucking a golfball through a hose. Now it just feels like someone "Plainly Doesn't Quare!" Musical selections oscillated between the morose gloom-pop of Depeche Mode's "Master and Servant" and something that sounded like Paula Cole, talking about a "one-horse town" or whatever. I spotted a guy in a Beatles t-shirt refilling his soda. Always cool to see a fellow fan out in the wild. CONS: The confusing barrage of questions when you attempt to place your order. They don't call your name on a microphone anymore:( The shakes is too thick! PROS: Floor around the entrance is always super slippery, so if you fall you can probably sue the place! AMAZING!! We've never heard of this place, just drove by for a quick snack & WOW, it Blew Us Away!! Everything was Delicious & Fresh. The sauces were soooo goood & so unique in flavor. The zucchini Fries were FIRE!! Yum yuuumm. & the packaging of the food was so vibrant & fun! My Husband is 38years old & said "My box made me feel Happy!" Super Impressed with this place. & you know what, the customer service was actually very good as well. Much better than any fast food place we've ever gone to. It was excellent overall. This was our first time coming here and it was horrible. I got the grilled chicken sandwich which although they state their food is never frozen this definitely felt like it was still partially frozen as it was still that cold and tasted that way:(. The zuc fries were okay but nothing to brag about. We both felt nauseous though as soon as we were done eating and the only reason I even ate the frozen chicken sandwich was because I was that hungry. PDQ hires former McDonald's employees I believe because they keep fucking up my order. I've been to this particular PDQ twice. the first time they completely fuk the order up. Came here with my sister one late night after work and was highly pleased. Me and my sister are PDQ fans and this location didn't dissapoint. Although this location was quiet and far from busy we were a bit skeptical on feshness, but after a cool 15 minute wait everything came out beautifully the sandwich was hot and the sweet potato fries were everything with the marshmallow dip. We've never been so happy to find a reliable PDQ in south Florida until now! read more

Very Disappointed!! I decided to give PDQ a second chance, the first time experience at the Pembroke Pines Location wasn't good at all. Long story short I ordered a 12 piece nuggets combo for my child, when I got home to my surprise the nuggets were extremely dry, not fresh, probably they were sitting under a lamp the whole day. Very unfair for the price $12.00. I'm giving 2 starts because the customer service was good, but honestly the food was a big disappointment. read more

PDQ was amazing. We were hosting a fundraiser nearby and had young volunteers on site and we wanted to provide lunch for them and ourselves. We called them 10 minutes before they opened and did a very large platter order, that they were able to accommodate on such short notice. We also called back about 10 min after our original order and asked for a second platter. They were polite and quick! PDQ chicken was delicious! read more

Not really sure what's so special about this place... I hesitated to go to this placing thinking it was just another chicken place, and it was exactly it, but with limited menu opts. I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager Xavier he was so helpful and the nicest person ever, I came back the next day and got a salad for free !!! I've been to this brand new location numerous times and the one constant (other than great fried chicken in multiple forms) is XAVIER. What a professional.. This gentleman's genuine hospitality explodes through his pores from the register experience to the dining room. While you're eating you can look into the kitchen and see him positively leading his team. When you're finished eating you can guarantee he will be there to make sure the food was exceptional. His genuine care for his guests and co corkers separates him from the managers at the other restaurants I frequent. I hope that PDQ as a company realizes what they have in Xavier. I'm truly excited for his growth at PDQ and beyond as the sky is the limit for a person with the attitude and drive that Xavier possesses. read more

I drove past this PDQ location every day for a whole year and finally decided to try it out yesterday. My family got 50 chicken tenders for the price of 25. They were so fresh and delicious, and they made them fresh when we ordered them. The sauces are also very good. I recommend their ranch, honey BBQ, and buffalo bleu. Also, my sister is obsessed with their milkshakes. We were blown away by how great the food tastes, and are super excited about having the leftovers for lunch and dinner. The service is great, and if they take a little while to bring your food, it's only because it's so fresh. PDQ offers great deals on their tenders every month, and I plan to become a regular there. Even if you don't live near one, I guarantee that the drive will be worth it. read more

I ordered the PDQ Salad. The picture displayed a mix of different greens (arugula, spinach,etc) to my disappointment only iceberg lettuce was in the salad and the hard core of the iceberg was in the salad. The grilled chicken was dry. The salad is priced in the same range as a salad from Chick Fil A but the quality was less than satisfactory. The window order taker was courteous but the girl handing over the food didn't speak or nod her head. Obviously they are lacking in management discipline and staff training and product quality control. Take a drive to a real chicken restaurant for a simple chicken salad. read more

My daughter lives foe chicken tenders and I wanted to drive through Dania Pointe. The tenders and fries were good as were the sauces. She also really enjoyed a peanut Butter shake. Only gave it 2 stars because of cleanliness. We're there around 4:00 on a Sunday. Went in to order and found the entire place needed a good wipe down. Sticky everything from condiments area to tables. Hope they were going to do a good cleaning at least when they closed. read more

I have visited this PDQ several times since they opened and typically dine in, but today I needed to eat on the go so I went to the drive thru during lunch... big mistake! I ordered my food at the first window and that was smooth: a kids nugget meal for my daughter and a tender meal with zucchini fries for myself. When I got to the second window they let me know they were out of juice boxes, I said no worries a bottled water instead would be fine for the kids meal. Then she said we are out of bottled waters as well. She offered a soda for my 4-year old. I said no thank you I guess she will not have a drink. Then she gave me a bag with half our food and told me to pull up and someone will bring the rest of my food out. So I pulled into a parking space and my daughter and I started eating. Well 15 min later I'm still waiting so I drive back around and ask what happened no one brought my food out as promised. She then said said o I just wanted you to pull up a bit not into a parking spot. Needless to say, the experience today of disorganization and lack of customer service and communication has made me not want to return to this establishment. On top of it, my zucchini fries where hard & cold once I received as they were sitting there. I frequent the Pembroke Pines location as well and they have assigned parking spots marked with signs for people to wait at if their food is not ready and a staff member needs to bring it out. I am on yelp quite frequently because I work in the restaurant industry and I like to keep up with the feedback at our place of business, however I have never personally left any comment or review for everywhere, until now. My husband and I have never had PDQ and have been wanting to try it for some time. Our ac in our home is currently not working and our landlord refuses to have it fixed, being that I have a 5 week old newborn who just got out of the NICU 2 weeks ago we are staying in a hotel right across from this PDQ location and we figured this is our perfect time to try it oUt. Apparently I was wrong because from the moment we walked in the door we felt like nothing but a problem and a burden. As I stated I work in the restaurant industry as does my husband so we have a mutual respect and understand for others in the same business. We always try to make sure we know when a establishment is closing so we aren't accidentally walking in really close to when it closes. We just don't want to be the jerks in the building. So we called to check on what time they closed. We were informed 8pm. We proceeded to look at the menu online so we knew what we wanted prior to arriving to not take up any of their time. We arrived at 6:50 pm. An hour and 10 minutes before they close. As soon as we walk in the building and get more than half way to the corner we hear an employee say " Ofcourse here comes the 7pm group of people because they know we are about to close" well geez so much for me trying to be considerate. And it was only my husband, myself and one other gentleman in the building. Our order was simple and short however my husband had 2 questions and I had 1 but each time we tried to ask a question the employee helping us at the register proceeded to talk over us, not answer our questions and didn't even acknowledge we had asked a question instead just kept saying "is that all? Is that all?" We both ordered sweet tea and we tasted it while we were waiting for our order and it was AWFUL. Completely sour and you could tell had been made this morning or even the day before. My place of business will do this sometimes (saving tea that's not used) and I won't eVen let my customers order it when I know it's gone bad and is sour. Ice tea in a restaurant is not something you can save and expect it to taste right. My husband brought both of them to the counter and politely asked if we could switch to lemonade being that the tea had gone bad. There were 3 employees standing there, not 1 person spoke a single word, didn't pick our cups up, nothing. 1 of them went to get our lemonades came baCk put them on the coUnter and I walkeD away. Once again not saying a single word. Right after we told them it was sour/bad another employee proceeded to the tea and rather than dumping it out put it up for the night to save it for the next day! I've know a lot of severs in my 17 years in the restaurant business that will actually save tea at the end of the day to use the following day just so they don't have to make any the next morning. I find this to be pathetic and beyond lazy. Even when we thanked them for the lemonade they never even responded, acknowledged us or made eye contact. I asked for a side of guacamole I paid for it but never got it. I realized it once we got back to our room and it would have taken my husband 5 minutes to go baCk and get it but I refused to allow him to go back because of how they treated us and how uncomfortable they made us feel. We went out of our way to be considerate and tHat is the thanks we got. On another note the food, sauces, lemonade and shakes were very very good. At this point I can't stay whether or not we will be back but I can tell you this; if we ever do go bAck it will be for the food and the food alone. And we will never go inside again. read more

Today I went through the drive thru and the girl accidentally rang up two of one of the meals I was getting. When I saw my receipt and notched I showed the girl at the next window who then went to explain to the manager what happened. The manager refunded me completely and gave me my order. I try to only eat vegetables but today I was craving something juicy and fried. I try not to eat fast food but I will if the food is satisfying. Most places do not fit that mold. However, I thought I'd give this place a try. I got a basic crispy chicken sandwich and that's it. Wow. I was super impressed. The staff were super nice. The chicken was super juicy on the inside and perfectly crispy and seasoned on the outside. The pickle, tomato chicken bun ratio was perfect. I was very satisfied. I've been there twice and the food was pretty good both times. However, I went about a week apart and there was a big difference in the way the place was maintained in that short time span. The first time was a Saturday, it was crowded, but the place was spotless. The second time was a Monday late afternoon. It wasn't busy at all, we had to keep skipping over booths because the tables weren't wiped down, the drink station had sticky soda and sweet tea splashed and spilled everywhere, ketchup dispensers were empty, and several staff members were joking around while a manager slouched against a register leaning on her hand noticeably lost in thought. My friend had to send her fries back the moment she got them because they were cold and had obviously passed their prime. These issues aren't deal breakers... yet... but as People Dedicated to Quality, I really hope these issues are addressed before it becomes a bigger problem. read more

My wife and I love PDQ chicken. However, after the tasty chicken, the only other reason I go is because of their homemade sauces served for eating their fabulous chicken. I was stunned this week by their GM while in the drive through, having just bought 29 bucks on to go foods. 2 chicken sandwiches, tenders, fries and shakes. The GM proceeds to give me 4 sauces total. I'm a sauce guy and so I ask him for more - he continues to question me about how much sauce do I actually need to enjoy my chicken. He does not say - how many do you want? If I was to have been inside their dining room, I would have gotten as many sauces, as I requested. This was very perplexing to me. I told him, I love your chicken and I love your sauces. He obviously does not know how to listen to his customers and their desires. Finally after 2 minutes back and forth, he gave me more sauce, but it left a really bad taste in my mouth for PDQ. The service and employees at this location are horrible. I would rather drive to the one on 17th street than go to this one which is a lot closer to me. Not sure if PDQ stands for "people dedicated to quality" or "pretty damn quick" but trust me when I tell you it's neither. Employees and management need to be revamped. read more

I've eaten at several PDQ locations and none of them are as well run as this location. The staff is always friendly, the food is always great and the place is always spotless. The manager, Oscar is a great guy that does an incredible job. The absolute best fast food restaurant in Dania. I highly recommend it!! read more

We have visited this location twice now. It is brand new, and to say that they are suffering from severe grand opening struggles is an understatement. The food is always hot and fresh, but I could have taken a nap while waiting for it. On our last visit, we did takeout because the drive thru line was absurd. We ended up waiting inside for close to 30 minutes for our to go order. If you want to compare it to chick fil a, don't. Chick Fil A service, efficiency, and flavor can not be competed with. The chicken breading is peppery, with visible pepper on the tender. PDQ plus-tater tots. Sauces are underwhelming and minuscule. Another PDQ plus-the soda machine. Oh, and open on Sundays. Three stars cuz my husband and my daughter like it more than me. LOL read more
