I joined the first class, which was free. Then, I paid for another class, which was a couple hundred bucks. During that period, I asked to get out of the class to meet with the campus director. He was super pushy and convinced me to join the academy. Initial investment of almost $30k. They promised me so much. Told me that I would get this and that, that I would be able to pay the classes just with the trades that are shared by the instructors. Please do not believe in these promises! I can tell you that their method is outdated and does not work. I have joined aNother academy, which does not cost me 3% of what I paid OTA and it is so much more efFective. As OTA promises that you pay once but your membership is "lifetime," and after my experiences, I contacted them to get a refund. They will not give me. Now, they have been also sued by FTC. So now who guarantees that you will continue to get the "education" they offer? I have talked to a couple attorneys already, and am about to sue the academy get some of my investment back. I am also opening a Youtube and Instagram page to not just talk about OTA, but also to warn futures students/traders. Please, before you think about joining OTA or any other trading academy, talk to people who are part of their community so you won't make the same mistake I have made. This program is educationally sound. The methodology of instruction comes in many forms so that all persons can choose to learn the subject matter using the learning style that works best for them. However, to succeed in this area of finance requires dedication and perseverance on the student's part. It is a journey and does take time and hard work, but the rewards can be life changing. So when I found out there is actually a school in Raleigh that teach and certify students to be come full fledged bartenders, of course I jump on the first chance I could get. The school is located in a rather compact upstairs room in an office complex off Six Forks Rd, but it sort of give you a real feel of working in a real local, hole-in-the-wall, kind of bar. The instructor for my class is very knowledgeable, being in the business of going on 25 years of bartending, hosting parties, and instructing up and coming young bartenders. There is a solid structure to her method and course work, and always challenge to learn and practice more. I wouldn't be surprised if I can handle myself our there in the Raleigh nightlife after finishing my certification. So remember Coughlin's law: never tell tales about a woman, she'll hear you no matter how far away she is!

Since I do enjoy taking care of things sooner rather than later, I was putzing around on a Friday looking for said classes the following day, but was coming up empty until I came across CPR Carolina. Upon further inspection, I realized that not only was the schedule amenable, but the location and price of the training were decent as well, and with that - I signed up. A few thoughts. Location: 4 out of 5 Most of the Heartsaver First Aid/Adult and Toddler CPR & AED training sessions seem to be held at the Wingate by Wyndam in Raleigh. Pay special attention as there are multiple locations of this chain, and the one that you're looking for is the one closest to PNC Arena. The physical address can be a bit deceiving too, as the location is nested a little bit off of the main road. The hotel's meeting room was nice enough: standard covered conference chairs and tables, easy access to the restrooms, and coffee/juice in the morning. Structure of Course: 5 out of 5 CPR Carolina has maximized its resources and time to suit a variety of training sessions. For example, I signed up for first aid and adult/child CPR/AED. The first aid session began at 8am, and was done shortly before 11am. At 11am, additional individuals came in just for adult/child CPR/AED, which lasted until ~12:30, which was followed immediately by infant CPR/AED. In other words, if you need the whole spectrum of training, you can sit through one long session. If you only need portions (and some in my group that morning were in this group), you show up at the set time without having to sit through the portion(s) you don't need. Quality of Instruction: 4.5 out of 5 It's my understanding that with AHA, there is an expectation/obligation to watch certain parts of the pre-recorded video, and those parts can be supplemented by the instructor. Bryan made what could have been a very boring and burdensome First Aid course much more enjoyable, and was clear with his speaking and instruction. When it came time for CPR/AED, he was equally as clear with his instructions, and made sure that each person understood what was going on. Price: 5 out of 5 Probably the best bang for the buck (outside of free, which is offered by some FD/PD). The course I took was 50$, and included the use of a loaner book, the First Aid course, and the adult/child CPR/AED course. Other organizations in the area were looking for at least 70$ or 80$ for the same certification, so I feel like I got a better value. Overall: 5 out of 5 Well organized, well taught, and I was able to quickly demonstrate the skills checklist and be on my way.

I took a Concealed Carry Class many years ago from a different facility/instructor. I haven't been shooting for quite a while, so I decided to take the class again as a refresher. Thankfully, I chose Pistol Safety Academy. The thing I remember most about the first class I took in 2000, was how incredibly difficult it was to stay awake during the classroom portion. I couldn't imagine how the instructor could have made it any more of a snoozer! I was really dreading sitting through that part yet again. But I was pleasantly surprised at how Ed made the classroom portion informative but definitely NOT boring! His classroom portion was interesting, entertaining, and interactive. Not only did I re-learn things I had forgotten, but I also learned important facts that I was never even taught at the other facility! Once you're on the firing range, safety takes top priority. Before any shots are fired, Ed works with each participant to answer any and all questions. His goal is to ensure that everyone understands what they will be doing once he begins giving commands, and that they are comfortable with their weapon. I really can't say enough good things about Ed, from his great personality to his knowledge of guns and gun laws. If you are planning to take any of the classes that Pistol Safety Academy offers, do yourself a favor and call Ed first.
