So far my experience has gone from what I thought would be very good to you wont ever see my face in your store again! I took a HP laptop in along with a new keyboard I wanted installed. The Tec was very nice and they told me it would be $45.00 and that they could get it done by the end of the day. I told them great but if it was after 5 pm I would come in the next day and pick it up. He told me I would get a call from them that afternoon letting me know it was completed. Well guess what? no call. So I called in about 10 am to see if it is done. Nope hasn't even been started yet, oh well if you want to pay an additional $79.00 we can put you at the front of the line and get it done right now. What a joke, talk about scamming your customers, no one mentioned this so called express service, I was expressly told it would take some time and it wasn't like I could sit and wait for it. What kind of BS are you guys trying to pull. This is a total ripoff, and at the moment I have every intention of turning it into the BBB as well as this post. Stay tuned to see how it works out. Ok here is the latest, after my phone call this morning I was very upset to say the least, no one likes to be miss understood, customer or vender. When I arrived to pick up my laptop, the manager of the store met with me and said they wanted to make things right about the misunderstanding by just voiding out the invoice and not charging me for the work they had done, I told them it wasn't necessary, I had no issue with paying for the work performed in the amount I was quoted but he insisted and voided out the work order. We continued to talk about the issues I was having with this computer and after a short look at it he felt it needed a new hard drive, and that is what my issue was. He then proceeded to offer me a new hard drive for the laptop at a considerable discount, and also stated that he wouldn't charge me for the labor because of the earlier issue. (outstanding offer on their part to amend the earlier issues) I told him that I had to have it no later than April 1, 2017 as I am going out of the country on Monday before the birds are even awake, so there was no room for any errors, malfunctions or slip-ups regardless of the reason, It had to be completed as promised. At this point they have the laptop and are working on installing the hard drive for me. Because of their efforts to correct the problem I feel I need to upgrade the rating I gave earlier, I will make a finial rating as soon as this event is complete. Fingers crossed, I will continue to update this as it unfolds.... stay tuned! I hope I can rate this experience at 5 stars when this is all over.... Well PC Laptops really came through! Dispite the initial issues and or differences we had, they stepped up to the plate and hit a home run as far as I am concerned. I would recommend them to anyone who wants to deal with a local company who is dispite the first issues I ran into completely rebuilt my trust in them for computer work or buying new. I've owned the sm5 for about 2 months now, and i think it was time for me to write a review. The computer looks solid it has enough space to upgrade to whatever I want. (except for dual graphics but I won't be needing that) The day I went to go purchase this laptop me and jay pollock had a long conversation about the laptop and what I would be getting with it. Jay pollock is a jack in the box he is full of surprises. He got into detail of the laptops quality and that I'm truly getting the best. I got my system for a great price and since the life warrantee seemed like a great deal I went for it. My expectations were neutral at the time of purchase, because it was a new company I was going to give a try. I am a gamer and do a lot of music recording, I also do game programming. The big BIG reason I was going for this company is because I know my computer is going to die pretty fast, yes I use it pretty heavily. I was also kinda bothered by the 15% restocking fee; because I know a lot of people that might get a huge defect on their new system, and will just want to return it without giving it a try to get it fixed. If pc laptops keeps its promise of replacing failed parts and free labor it will stay a 5 star for me. However don't fail me, because I've got a few friends that want to try you guys out as well and they are gamers too. So if you fail them I have failed them also. After a year of ownership my desk top freaked out. It would not connect at times, would not go to web sites requested and was just a pain in the butt so to speak. I called Jake at PC laptops (where I had purchased the computer) and asked if he could help over the phone. He tried but it was a mystery so he had me bring it in. Anyway, to make a long story shorter he tested and figured out that it would need a new hard drive (or one of those technical things I know nothing about, but a major issue.) He replaced it, had me come in and showed me that It worked, walked me through some new changes since I had made my original purchase and got me on the road. Why did it go bad you ask? Who the crap knows, It's a computer right? And that's what they do! He actually had no idea but since the grand total for my new set up and repairs was $000.00, who even cares. I got a new computer again that works better than the new one I purchased last year, met some good people who actually care that I know what is going on and can use the technology I purchased and it cost me all of NOTHING. (I even got a free coke to beat the heat as he showed me how to use the new stuff.) Got a problem? I suggest you give PC laptops a call!!!! Can't beat the service, they know what they are talking about, (which is more than most of us can say) and they are truly nice guys!!!!!! read more

UPDATE: Shortly after leaving a negative review (see below), reps from PC Laptops called me every day until they got ahold of me. They apologized for my bad experience and offered to refund me the cost of my service or to fix the dent on my phone. While I wish things would have gone perfectly the first time around, I do really appreciate their efforts to make me happy and I appreciate that they keep an eye on their reviews. Because of their efforts to solve my complaints, I've changed my review to 5 stars. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I called in advance twice, to make an appointment and to confirm it and to confirm that they had the screen for my iPhone SE. When I arrived they told me they were too busy and weren't sure if they could get me in or if they had the right parts for my phone. The guy sitting at the front was extremely rude and was too busy making protein shakes to help. Finally they told me to come back in an hour. I came back in two and they struggled to find my phone. The screen was fixed but there were new problems: 1- The back was dented 2- The screen wasn't on all the way to my case no longer fit So even after all this I had to go back the next day. Making that the third visit to the store. They fixed the screen/case issue but took no responsibility for the dent. So I'm home now with a fixed screen but thinking it wasn't worth my time. read more

My experience with PC Laptop was not as advertised. I purchased a desktop around 5 years ago. Everything has worked fine in that time until a week ago, the fan on the graphics card started making a loud noise. I took it into the PC Laptop store on 7200 South and Redwood Rd. They said the graphics card was old and going out and that I would need to upgrade it. The upgrade would be $280. I said I didn't want an upgrade just put the same quality one back in it. They said they didn't make that one any more and that I would need to upgrade it. I said what was the point of a lifetime warranty on all parts and labor if they weren't going to honor it. The PC Laptop employee then told me that to get the warranty I needed to bring my computer in annually to get a check up. This was news to me. No one told me when I purchased it that I needed to bring it in yearly in order to have a valid warranty. Their advertising is very misleading. I have come to the conclusion that there is really no point in buying from a place like this. I erroneously thought that if I spent more money on a premium product that I would be protected in the long run. I should have just went to Costco and bought a computer. I really put PC Laptops in the same category as a mattress salesman or a used car salesman. This is just a scam. read more

I had previously been utilizing an antique computer system - at one time (2004!) it was awesome from Totally Awesome computers. I had been struggling with Windows 2003 XP, plus an outdated browser - it was like approaching the internet with a walker or a wheelchair. I've always loved PC Laptops in that they thoroughly guaranteed all the products and services of Totally Awesome computers. Last weekend I visited PC Laptops in West Jordan, Utah and was greeted with much friendliness and professionalism. I love it when the techs can communicate with me in layman's terms! My customer needs were handled by a true rock star! Gordon Chow. I upgraded my life to a Dominator 907 Laptop (with Microsoft 8 Professional and Office 2013 Professional) and via Gordon, chose an HP Envy 4500 wireless printer. Gordon also successfully transferred over 10 years of my data to the new system. This system is so fast it actually beat me home from the store! I had no difficulties in setting the new system up with Gordon's guidance. Each question and concern I had was taken care of in a most professional matter of commendable customer service. Also enjoyed visiting with Aaron who related he loves to come to work in a place and do a job he loves doing. The whole spirit in this store is over the top Totally Awesome! read more

I was having computer problems, and communicated with a few of the people about it. I felt like it was time to take it to a different PCLaptop store. So I went to the West Jordan store, and was greeted by a young man Aaron Christiansen. He took my computer, an in a matter of minutes he was able to solve the problems I was having. showed me how to take care of others. What I really liked about Aaron was that his store doesn't have an "Oh well " attitude. it was an attitude of "Great", and "Satisfaction ". He wanted to make sure that I was happy with my computer, and the functions. My battery wasn't holding a charge for very long, and he ordered another one for my computer. Today (Monday) he called to let me know the replacement one is in. He is knowledgeable in his computer programs, and pleasant to be with. I will be taking my computers to him. Unlike another location that took too long of a time in getting my system repaired, or promises of things to do with it. Thank you Aaron for your help and being the great guy that you. Took my desktop to the west Jordan location off of redwood. Went into the store met by a rude tattooed meathead he didn't care what was going on was really rude to customers when he was on the phone. Anyway talked to a "tech" let him know my problems. Next day they called me and asked for my windows log in. The following day they called me and said they could not find a problem and I would get the computer that night which I did not. I called in the next day and they said it was on a "techs" bench. I said okay. Later that day I called and they said it was still on his bench and to call back the next day. I called and they said maybe Monday because it was still on the techs bench even though they said nothing was wrong. He said he would call me later in the day which he did and said to come pick it up. So I did and they showed me that it was fine which it was not was doing the same thing. And they said they did not know about the issue and they would like to have it for another couple days which I said no just give it to me. The "techs" did not have good communication of what was going on. I figured it out when I got home so frustrated with them saying it was all good. WILL NOT BE BACK!! read more

I took my computer to PC Laptops because it was super broken and they were awesome and fixed it. So, yeah whatever great service, but what happened next is why they get 5 stars! I am in the business of making wedding videos and I was 1/2 done with two videos when my computer died. They told me that the files could be saved and they did that, but then after I got home my program couldn't recognize the new file names and it was a complicated mess. Long story short, I took the computer back and Chaz was amazing and was able to move things around so that my program could recognize the files, then I got home and by moving the files it had messed up some sorta something in my Microsoft Word and it was showing "read only" in all my Word Docs. I again took my computer back in and looked up Chaz. He was super friendly and willing to help me get things just how I wanted them. I was so impressed with the time Chaz took out of his day to make sure my computer was working how I wanted it, I will definitely go back and buy my next computer there, because the one I have now is on it's death bed. :) Thank you so much Chaz for rescuing me and my wedding videos, and more recently my Word Docs! read more

I've been a system builder on the side for decades - built dozens of rigs over the years. Never needed a computer shop to help me buy something new or repair what I had. Now it was finally time again for me to build myself a new top of the line rig for all the upcoming games. However from friend suggestions I decided to check this store out rather than DIY it completely myself from online deals. The friendly service and attitude of being a fellow computer enthusiast and gamer was refreshing as opposed to a heavy sales pitch on certain promotion items. It was fun and exciting to discuss various options and parts and pick a rig to be just perfect for the latest games while sticking to a realistic price point. I ended up making my first retail computer purchase here. Was it perfect - no. Things are inevitable to happen. But the sales manager has treated me like a true VIP and we have exchanged texts already a number of times to get everything touched up perfectly, even though they have been trivial details its a full service deal. I have been a customer of PC Laptops for the past 4 years. During this time, I have been ever consistently impressed with the evolution of customer service and Technical Support. The 24/7 Technical Support Center is such a huge step forward. My time is valuable, in the rare occasion I do experience problems with my PC Laptop, I am usually able to have it resolved remotely by the technical support team. I had an issue yesterday that required me to bring it in to the Salt Lake PC Laptops. There I was taken care of by Doug, whom is an excellent example of the high caliber technicians PC Laptops employs. I arranged an appointment over the phone, dropped off my Laptop in the morning and was able to pick it up that evening. Doug called me twice during the day to inform me as well as fixing some software issues I was not aware of. This level of customer service is unprecedented. We bought a pc laptop computer back in 2005/2006 and it was an amazing laptop, but it had alot of issues, but true to their word, the pc laptop crew was always willing to help. When we needed new parts they were on the ball. When our warrenty expired and we needed new parts they made sure we got the best deal to make it affordable or even worked it so we got it for free. Even though it was frustrating to have a laptop with so many issues their warranty was there to help. When the time came to retire our 6yr old laptop pc laptops made sure I got exactly what I wanted out of my computer for a deal even the husband couldn't pass up and the guys at pc laptop were cool enough to go along with my husbands secret plan to get it to me for Christmas. They kept playin dumb and kept up the act of calling me to entice me with another offer, all the while my husband kept telling me we couldn't get it. Pc laptops even put my laptop in an old desktop box for him so I had an amazing surprise Christmas morning! P.S my kids now use our old laptop that is 7yrs old. read more

Coming from a retail background, I understand the idea of coming in at a time where I can not hold up the line any worse than I have to. So, I call beforehand to either make an appointment or see if they are up to their necks in snakes. Or, drop off the computer and then get the heck out of their hair. I'm sure that everyone loves their PC Laptop computer as much as I love mine, but give the pros a break. They are all friendly and professional (especially putting up with me and my stupid questions....). They will do the job RIGHT. I am on my second computer from there, and my daughter referred me there in the beginning (she is a tough customer). We all agree that they do not patronize or talk down to us. They listen carefully and ask for clarity. But, most importantly, they don't dodge issues like a late part or repair problems that other retailers try to make you believe is somehow your fault. I like honesty and apreciate that repairing computers can be challenging (really, guys, it was my dog that knocked over that beer into the computer). read more

My recent experience with PC laptops has been nothing less then excellent. I recently purchased and received a PC for my parents for Christmas. What I didn't know was that they had already met with Gordon at the redwood store and purchased one on their own. (Crazy 89 year old parents. They leave their house once a year and they choose to visit PC Laptops and build, purchase a custom PC! :) After arguing with the box store about returning my PC (I really wanted to keep the PC laptop system,) they wouldn't return it without accruing significant restocking fee's. I explained my dilemma to Gordon at PC Laptops and he stepped up to the plate and refunded the original price of the PC and S/W licensing fees. I've never had such a positive experience returning a custom build machine, thus; I'm writing my first review.. I bought an SSD drive from an online store and they failed to tell me I needed a mounting bracket. I made several calls locally and no one had one. Most of the of the stores didn't even know what I was asking about. I called PC Laptops and Bryan Tompkins took my call. He knew exactly what I needed and said sure, we have one. Come on in and we'll fix you up. I stopped by the store. Everyone shouted Hi as I walked in. Bryan walked up and asked what I needed. I mentioned the SSD drive and he remembered me immediately. He walked back in the work area and grabbed the bracket I needed. He also had a cable I was going to need. He made a phenomenal deal on them both. :-) It turns out they don't really stock this stuff for resale. I took my system to PC Laptops (West Jordan store) about three weeks ago, it was runing really slow and had issues with the blue screen and was crushing vey ofter. I talked to one of the managers (Kyle) and explained to him all my frustrations that i was having with my system. Kyle was very polite and helpful, after lisenting about all my issues he then offered to fix my system and said that my system was going to be running like new again. Kyle was calling me about the issues that he was having with the system and after a week or so he then called me and said that my system was ready to go home. it's been over three weeks since i got my system back and i am so happy, my system is running so good and smooth. (no problems) So if you have any issues or problems with your system give these guys a call, they are AWESOME! I purchased all the parts for a pc and put it together myself last weekend. Oh no! The video card didn't work. No fan, nothing in BIOS or Device Manager. Is it defective? Did I install it wrong? I reread the instructions and spent several hours online double-checking everything and trying out fixes. I had done everything right but still couldn't get it to work. First, I tried to drop it into a friend's computer. This massive card wouldn't fit! I didn't want to return it without making sure it was busted though so I brought it to PC Laptops. They tried it in a few machines and confirmed that it was defective. They also recommended a higher wattage PSU. I found them friendly and knowledgeable and they wouldn't even charge me for the help! Super classy and the right way to earn a new customer. I'll definitely be back whenever I need help and I may just decide to save a lot of hassle by having them build my next one. read more

I love PC Laptops! I am a previous owner of many Dell computers and got tired of replacing parts, or purchasing a new computer about every two to three years. I heard PC Laptops commercial on the radio about having a desktop that had a lifetime warranty...are you kidding me...that's never heard of! So I had to go investigate. It was true! They built me a desktop that was centered around my needs and uses. I was never pressured into buying more than I needed, or wanted. I love my desktop! There has been a couple of times where it has acted funny. Each time I took it back to the store, I was always greeted by energetic employees. I appreciate how they kept me informed as to what the problem was, and how long it would take to fix it. With each visit, I have never had to pay for any parts or labor. Because of the great service I have received, my brother and neighbor have also bought desktops from them! read more
