Wonderful, authentic restaurant. The ambiance is also authentic and inviting. Lunch was tasty …read more Ace was very welcoming and chef Jackie took the time to say a welcoming hello! Very enjoyable experience.

I've been wanting to try the new physical location for Adobo Boy soooo badly and they did NOT…read moredisappoint! I've been following Adobo Boy's food truck for years and Ace and his family are highlights in the community for uplifting and recognizing Asian voices and culture. Everything he does is with such care, love, and a focus on community and Adobo Boy is no different. The restaurant is in a little strip with ample parking which was super convenient. The interior is ADORABLE with custom art on the wall with Filipino icons, cultural touchstones, and a fun sign. The restaurant is moderately small and cozy but not cramped or tight. They even have a little market in the back corner to get some Filipino snacks and seasonings. Redd, the son and face of Adobo Boy took our orders and explained everything so well. He is so beyond kind and seems genuinely proud to work there and of the food and experience they provide. The other staff is extremely kind, attentive, and friendly and Ace even came out to ask people about their food, especially the halo halo. Getting to the food, it was INCREDIBLE. I've had Filipino food a handful of times from friends and their families but this really took the cake. We tried the Sinigang wings and there were absolutely addicting. My friend had told me that sinigang is often a soup and can be a little sour so to prepare for that. the flavor was like nothing I'd ever had and the slight hint of sour was absolutely delectable. Redd told us that this was actually an invention of his! I had also gotten Redd's Adobo Baboy which was the pork dish. I don't think I've ever had such tender pork in my life. I was so surprised at how all the flavors melded so well together and everything in the bowl complimented the other and provided necessary flavor and texture components. I also tried my first ever halo halo. My friend had told me that halo halo can be hit or miss for some people. The one at Adobo Boy had pandan and ube swirl ice cream atop shave ice and a myriad of different fruits and toppings. There is a LOT going on but everything worked together so well for me. I'm honestly so elated that Adobo Boy has a physical location so I can go back more and more to enjoy their food and company. I HIGHLY recommend coming here to feed your stomach and your heart. You can also catch them at local Asian festivals such as GRAPF.

But they still have all the other essentials you need from the other Asian countries. The first thing you'll notice is that this place is super clean and the products are fresher and more presentable. It also doesn't smell like fish bc there is no butcher. One item that they have that is unique that is difficult to find but health experts say is a super vegetable is Moringa (in Filipino called Malungay). Also they have a lot of Filipino baked goods that come from Chicago. So if you like following trendy food on social media this is the place to come to for UBE. Like real ube. One thing I hate is that other cultures use purple potato and call it ube and cash in on our culture. Come here for the real thing!!!

Love the location as it's near the Woodland Mall and we frequently find ourselves in that area of GR. Upon walking up to the store, I got a glimpse of the Christmas parols (lit stars), and got excited that it was a Filipino owned place, because I knew they'd have specific items I was looking for! They were well stocked and had a great selection of frozen seafood and meats, dry goods, and familiar snacks. Looks like a new store and very clean and well organized. Will definitely come back when I'm in the area and so glad to have found this gem in a city with few Asian options!

If you get to know them they personally call to let you know when the things you want freshly arrived. They would call my parents whenever their crabs would come in. Also they get fresh meat every Friday so come on then. They also get better cuts of meat than the other oriental stores.

During my last visit to Michigan's west coast, I found myself on the hunt for traditional Asian ingredients to demonstrate the fine art of lumpia making to my wonderful Midwestern hosts. Trusty Google led me to this place and I pleasantly discovered that Division Ave is kind of like a mini Asian mecca: Asian grocery after Asian grocery within a few miles. Quite surprising that all this exists out here, at least to me, a naive Pacific coaster, fairly unfamiliar with the midwest. They had a good selection of everything Asian, spices, sauces, canned goods, Durian fruit, Pocky, other desserts, and even some stuff that I would never ever think of putting in my mouth. Silkworms and pig guts and all that. A dedicated freezer section for whatever meat your tongue desires. Andrew Zimmern would be proud! It was about as clean as Asian grocery stores can get, very friendly staff and cheap prices considering how many miles these goods had to cover to make it to Grand Rapids.
