Was pleasantly surprised not having visited an Applebees in years. We sat at the bar so we could watch the football games on numerous TVs. Sitting at the bar resulted in great service as the bar keep was right there checking on us. This was a Saturday night and most places don't have specials during prime nights. There were 10 combo meals, you had to order the same meat for both people, for $25! We added the house salad, for $5 extra,that had various fixings and was good size. The main course was chicken breast and shrimp with mashed potatoes served on a very hot metal plate. The seasoning and juices were fantastic. Ok.......I haven't been to an Applebee's in about 10 years since I had a case of presumed food poisoning at a location outside of the Osarks. So..... The placed was packed but we were greeted and seated quickly. The service was excellent and the food was better than expected. You could do a lot worse in Big Rapids. read more

Server was alright. Got orders in right away. Drinks took a bit to show up not too long though. Entrees showed up before appetizers. And I found plastic in my mashed potatoes managers "comp" was poor for size of bill and the fact there was a large chunk of plastic in the potatoes. read more

Terrible food! Wings were very old and dry. Definitely sat around for a while. When we first got there my daughter and I had a whole glass of lemonade poured on. I cleaned it all, and never was provided anything to clean it up. Sat at a sticky table the whole time. Our "silverware" was the tool go plastic warehouse, and I ordered a steak. Had to ask three people for a real knife and fork. Then my med rare steak was very well done! Broccoli was shrieked and and beyond eating. It was a terrible experience. This restaurant has always been a go to when I'm in the area. However when I called in an order I was surprised to see all my condiments sitting on top of my food inside the carry out container. We are still in a Covid state of being Clean and careful when we are preparing food and drinks. I would have returned my food if the drive was not 60 miles round trip. Applebee's is not my favorite place but they do a good job on most of the standard thoroughfare we call food. I had a steak and it was cooked right and seasoned well. I had appetizers and they were good too. I also had a couple beers and that was alright as well. Applebee's is no special high flaunt restaurant it's just decent food fairly fast. Would I choose to go here on a regular basis, most likely not, but when your in Big Rapids and the pickings are slim ya gotta do, what ya gotta do. This is about the worst dessert that I have ever seen given to a customer for a Birthday, dinner party. The very small price of the brownie was almost un unedible, the Tea Spoon of ice cream was unbelievably small not even a single bit. Most of the food here will leave you satisfied if you enjoy mostly simple food. I think a few menu items are overdue for an upgrade in flavor though, such as the pasta sauces. A few more choices on cuts of steak would be a game changer too. The last couple of times I visited, I ordered a crispy chicken salad only to have it served on a bed of not so cold, Bagged lettuce... The service is always TOP NOTCH when Suze is working. We have learned a couple months ago to just request her and we always get her. She always makes great recommendations for us to try new things, both food and drink specials. She is an absolute delight and funny as heck.. Definitely a major asset to your restaurant. I love coming to eat here with my wife, but the last time I came our server (Jayme) was really awful. First, she kept on taking off her mask, and when my wife asked if she could please keep it on due to her history of heart disease the server continued to take it off. She came to our table once, never asked if we needed anything else (we were going to get more drinks and desert). She came with the check before we were even close to being half way done, and when we told her we were still eating she rolled her eyes. I am mostly upset with the removing of the mask because we don't go out much due to COVID, but we thought we would give it a shot and we regret it.
