This is a great bar and restaurant. It has two sides; one which is more like bar vibes and the other, more like a diner. There is plenty of parking out back and street parking. They have a great menu and I've really enjoyed almost everything I've had to eat here. Not a great place to go if you're on a diet, but they do have some yummy salads. People are more likely to go here for things like loaded tots, burgers, and burritos. Smothered with cheesy goodness, of course. They have cheap drinks, friendly service, and overall good vibes. read more

Packed a Monday evening, nearly every table was full in the restaurant! There was some confusion around where the hostess stand was, and whether we should seat ourselves, but eventually we were seated and our order was taken promptly. The BBQ Burger was delicious, and I appreciated that cajun fries were a side option! It was a good portion size, and the burger was cooked well. The Ruby Red Quesadilla was underwhelming, but as one of the few vegetarian options on the menu, it did its job. A very social restaurant with a bar and pool tables. Plenty of parking in a lot out back. Open late. read more

good specialty food. the prices are a little high for me, but i recommend swinging through for a change of pace, boisterous ambiance, and a general pick-me-up! read more

really gross. Inedible, really! The picture is of the mushy tater tots and the "handbreaded/ handcut chicken tenders" ? There is no breading that I can see (or taste) these taste like what i imagine boiled chicken would be. A very odd building. I'm sure this is do to the history of the building. There are 2 entrances the front and back, however the parking lot is in the back. The back entrance starts in a narrow dimly lit hallway that then goes up a dark stairway to another door. Inside is another hallway that leads to the bar area of the restaurant. From here it's confusing because you don't know where to check in. Located here are some high top tables, plus the bar. Halfway into the room in an opening on the right which is another room with booths and regular tables with TV's playing sports. Here the atmosphere is very sports bar. Lastly on the opposite side of the bar area you entered in is another hallway that leads to a video game area and the front entrance. Also on the restaurant side is a door leading to a small outdoor patio area. The menu here is very unique with a great selection of Sandwiches and Hamburgers. I ordered the Pot Belly Pig Sandwich ($15), which is Smoked pork, ham, bacon, american and jack cheese, topped with a bourbon glaze on a pressed ciabatta. I upgraded to Cajun Tater Tots ($2). The sandwich was delicious. It was a great combination of flavors and was very filling. The tots were somewhat spicy and very good. The person I was with ordered The Amish Black & Blue Burger ($14), which is a Blackened burger topped with melted bleu cheese, deep fried onions, fries and homemade bleu dressing. She stated many times how great the burger was. The service was very good with quick and attentive service. Overall an easy 5 star review. Would I return? Yes. It's not close so it'll have to be a special occasion type of thing, but definitely yes. We left through the front entrance and their was a side walk along the side of building leading to the back. A much better way to come and go. read more

Visited before and had a lot of burger choices. Went back and the choices have dwindled, coupled with getting nickeled and dimed to death. Everything is alacarte. You want sauce=charge. An extra patty is $4 or $5. Server was good and the patty wasn't cooked rare, as requested, but there was some pink. Better places around. read more

The food was great. The prices were reasonable. The service was fast and friendly. . A great find.

We just relocated (temporarily) to Fremont! I was craving a burger and stumbled upon this place. The atmosphere is what you'd expect for a tavern but I appreciated that it had a non bar seating area. We went in the late afternoon so it wasn't super busy. Our waitress was super nice and patient with us taking our time with the menu. We both ordered a soda but didn't really care for it. I think since the covid/illnesses we've been dealing with our taste buds just aren't the same, yet. We both ordered the burger that has jalapenos & sauteed onions. I got Cajun fries and my husband got the regular. Both were very good! There are so many menu options. We will be back! read more

Food was ok. We loved the carnivore tater tots. Ribs weren't great. Cheap kids meals (3.99$). It was pretty busy since we unknowingly came on trivia night. We l owed the little arcade area for the kids and keno for myself GLUTEN FREE options! read more

The food was great and so was the service. Would definitely recommend this place. I had the black and bleu burger. Husband had just a regular burger and cheese curds. All great and the cajun fries were not too hot. read more

Great dive bar. If I lived in Fremont, I would for sure be a regular. Staff was very nice, food was good, beer was cold, and good selection, too. read more

my sister and I have enjoyed dining on the patio with my small dog a few times. yesterday I went there and first I was told that dogs are not allowed. when I explained that I have been there twice before, I was told that the patio didn't open until 4! The mushroom burger is literally just a mushroom, no burger involved. When I told the server that I had expected a burger, she just said nope, not with that one, and laughed. If I am paying that much for a mushroom, there had better be some good side effects. read more

Great food and service. We always have a great time going to the squirrel good food good service excellent people.

Good food, good service. Great ambiance! Try it out, worth the drive. Great fries. Everything is cooked fresh.

What a neat place! Pinball machines in front, bar area & family friendly. Wish we would have stopped here first before our movie. Lots of menu choices. We just had a beer before the movie. Touch tunes (hubby loves). Pool tables. If we are back in Fremont we are for sure stopping back in read more

My husband and daughter and I enjoyed dinner here on Monday, March 11. The service was excellent, very friendly and efficient! I really liked my Southwestern Taco Salad with grilled chicken! it was very generous in size and quite tasty with corn and black beans in the filling. My husband loved his burger, which was served with grilled cheese sandwiches as the bun!! It came with their fantastic crispy homemade kettle chips. My daughter really liked her burger with sautéed mushrooms & Swiss cheese. We will definitely return next time we're in the area! read more

I returned to the Blind Squirrel Tavern this past weekend while in town visiting my parents. I had been here once before and got the Jasadilla Sandwich which was pretty good. I came wanting to try something else on the menu to see if they were indeed THAT good. Spoiler alert - they are. I got the PBB&J Burger, which is a peanut butter, bacon, and grape jelly burger with crumbled potato chips as well. I got mine without jelly and it was delicious. I've had a peanut butter burger once before (somewhere else) but all I could taste was the patty itself. This time, at Blind Squirrel, everything was cooked pretty much to perfection. The bacon was a little burnt/hard, but oh well. Service was great and it seemed to be a pretty popular place for a random Saturday lunch crowd. The first time I went, I didn't even know they had a whole sit-down restaurant side to the building, I thought it was only a couple high-tops at the bar. There's plenty of parking out back as the front only allows for a few street parking spots. The ciabatta bread on any of the sandwiches is so fresh - you'll definitely have to get a sandwich with that advertised. Sooo good! read more

Our food was awesome!! Good atmosphere and friendly staff. I had the fried pickle burger. Delicious! The onion rings are on point! Nice and crunchy. My husband had the GCB (grilled cheese burger) with grilled cheese on each side for buns. Delicious! Next time we are in town we will visit again. It will be top of our list in this area read more

Food is always good and the service is great. It's so loud in the dining area it's hard to hear your own group.

Great little place to stop on the mini color tour I took a week or so ago. They have a great Olive Burger-couldn't eat it all- and cross hatch sweet potato fries that were excellent. Of course, I had to have a T-shirt and the waitress was kind enough to go downstairs and find one for me! I'm forever grateful.. good service, nice surroundings, not crazy, pretty little town. read more

Stopped for lunch while visiting from out of town. Excellent, and unique BLT. Onion rings needed thicker batter so it stayed on the onions, but the taste was good. Cuban was okay, but I'm spoiled by Cubans in Florida. Bathroom could use a thorough scrubbing. Would go again if in the area. read more

Love this place for their excellent service and yummy Portabella Burgers...great place to stop after a nice Harley ride!

When they get their burgers right, they are amazing. But I have to remove a star because of inconsistency. The last two times I got a burger, I was disappointed. The wait staff is always great. The bench seats in the booths are lumpy. read more

Came here at 630 on a Saturday night. Very crowded. Good beer selection. Nice waitress. Took awhile to get the food. My mom had a chicken sandwich that she liked. Comes with chips- pay extra for the fries. Fries are like McDonald's fries but better than the chips. I got the caliburger. Burger was good but guacamole is nothing special. I would order a Swiss burger with pickles and avocado next time. My husband ordered the dip. It came out frozen. They recooked it but we had to wait until everyone else was done with their food before he got his meal. Most restaurants would have comped the sandwich or bought us a drink or something. We got nothing except the opportunity to wait longer. I get that the place was slammed but they could have done something for us. Fun place but not sure I would come again on a Saturday night. Taylor was very sweet and a good waitress. read more

We are four recently vaccinated (three Pfizer, one Moderna) recent grads of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor on vacation in Fremont for the week. One of our group members (the Moderna one) is a reigning trivia champion at our local Ann Arbor bar. We came to the Blind Squirrel for trivia and burgers. Neither let us down. We finished with clean plates and a total of two points. xoxo, four recent grads in love with your Squirrel sauce. read more

Stopped here today while visiting town. Very nice small tavern on Main Street. Lots of parking in the back. Food was decent. My husband got one of the flat breads and said it was good. I got a chicken and avocado sandwich but the chicken breast was very small and thin. The fast was great but wish there was a bit more protein in proportion to the bread. Our friend had a burger and said it was delicious. The place was very clean and the service was fast. I would definitely come again fun a quick bite or for a hole in the wall type of bar outing. Cheers! read more

For a dive bar in a small town this place is a-ok! Fried cheese curds were the star of my experience. The grilled cheese burger (2 grilled cheese sandwiches instead of bread) was interesting but in the end a C- burger. Not bad but could have been so much more... Which is how I would categorize the whole experience. Happy I went but wouldn't go out of my way to return (Which I most certainly would have to do). Service was super friendly. Welcome to the widest! read more

The other day, we decided to go to dinner and wanted to eat inside a restaurant. We chose the blind squirrel. Just the name alone makes you wonder if it will be a squirrley experience? There was five of us. We all ordered something different. i ordered a mushroom swiss burger, medium well with side order of onion rings. Didn't take them long, the drinks came and the food was out. Our waitress was great in handling us and gave us a fine service. The burger was great, and the fried onion rings I recommend. I did not get any pictures..sorry to say..but just wanted folks to know..Eat at this place! Good food and good atmosphere with friendly service! Nice job! I've always been told the squirrels are looking for me..the reason, they think I'm nuts! Try this place, you'll like it too. read more

Great local tavern. The menu has lots of variety and the food is really good. We had 4 people in the group, we all tried something different and it was all really good. Some of the eclectic tasty options were a blackened burger with blue cheese, pulled pork with ham, bacon, melted cheese on a flattened ciabatta bread, fried pickle burger and of course the squirrel burger (2 patty's, 1/2 pound of bacon and 4 slices of cheese). Fries were better than the homemade chips. Chips did not have a lot of seasoning on them. Looking back I should have got some squirrel sauce to dip the chips in. Burger and chips were in the $10 to $14 range. We'll be back! read more
