I'm so happy that Adobo Boy has a new location! They have their own restaurant space on Plainfield and I finally got to visit for dinner recently. We got there right after they opened for the evening and it was super busy! They have a small team as a family owned spot so be patient as they are newly open. Order at the counter and then find a table. They do takeout as well. The menu has a few specialties that rotate every couple weeks. I got the pasalubong ng dagat (steamed tilapia) and Nate got the pork adobo. We also ordered some lumpia and n/a drinks (calamansi lemonade and dragonfruit soda). Our food didn't take very long to come out and the courses were spaced appropriately. The lumpia was super fresh and hot, crispy and delicious. I loved the dragonfruit soda and calamansi lemonade is refreshing and a bit tart. The tilapia dish was perfectly cooked and tender, and had a bit of heat in the creamy coconut sauce. It was a large portion and I loved the fresh ginger. Their pork adobo is so comforting and such a classic Filipino dish done very well. I really wish we had room for dessert but we will definitely be back. The space is very fun with lots of Filipino celebrities featured and some Tagalog phrases to learn. They even have a small selection of snacks for sale to take home. If you love Filipino food or have never tried it, definitely visit this special place.

This is my new favorite restaurant! Inside you'll see artwork and infographics exploring Filipino culture. It's like walking into a museum! This family-owned restaurant offers the most authentic Filipino food and Ace (the owner and founder of the Grand Rapids Asian Pacific Festival) is the best! His wife, Jackie, is a true magician with putting love and quality in all the dishes. Uniquely, this place offers a rotating menu which you can find on their social pages. I saw ube cassava and ran there. It's easily my favorite dessert now I also got the famous Redd Adobo Boy pork rice bowl named after his son who loves this dish and I see why now. Go see for yourself! Order in the front, find a seat and take your tastebuds to the Philippines!

I tried this place for lunch today for takeout. It did NOT disappoint! First, the owners are so nice, introduced themselves, and thanked me for coming in. The restaurant is fairly spacious, not the most aesthetic interior, but that didn't bother me. I tried the pork adobo bowl and added an egg for $2, and the lumpia rolls. My total was around $25. After my first bite of the pork adobo bowl (which was just taste testing the rice), I knew it was going to be good. The rice is sooo flavorful, and the pork is really tasty, especially when you get a fattier piece. The egg was a perfect medium with a slightly runny yolk. The lumpia rolls were also good! The sauce didn't have a strong flavor to me, but it still paired well. This was a large sized portion for lunch; at first I was afraid there would only be small amount of pork, but I actually could barely finish it. I hope this place succeeds in this location!!!

From the moment we walked in, Jackie, Ace, and Nadine made us feel like longtime friends coming home. The space itself is warm and inviting, with music and ambience that wrap around you in the best way. The food was absolutely authentic and delicious--every dish tasted like it was made with heart and tradition. We didn't want to leave because the whole experience felt like home. We'll absolutely be coming back again and again. This place is a gem.

We have been back 3x now and have loved it every time. They treat you like family and Ace loves getting to know all patrons of the restaurant. Chef Jackie is a sweetheart. Food is always delicious and I have loved getting to try new Filipino foods. Their first bathroom on the right does have a changing table! And they are so good to little ones.

I've meant to try Adobo Boy for years and realized they're in the Amazing Myanmar building along with Brunch N Rice now. It was great to be able to try both restaurants on the same day! Jackie & Ace were so sweet and really treat you like old friends. We started off with a refreshing Calamansi lemonade, made from a citrus hybrid which is cultivated predominantly in the Philippines. As an entree, we got the Dinuguan, also known as "chocolate meat," which is a savory dish made with diced pork, pork blood, and spices. Finally, we got the ube turon malagkit for dessert--a fried Filipino spring roll filled with a sticky rice, condensed milk, margarine, sugar, and cheese and coated with sweet caramel. Everything was so tasty!

I believe this is my first experience with Filipino food. The owner was very friendly and patient in making recommendations. I tried a dish with pork, peanut sauce, eggplant, bok choy and green beans. It was very tasty and a lot of food. Overall, the owner's enthusiasm and friendliness won the 5-star review

Amazing hospitality...very nice owners... super delicious food... Might be a little pricey but overall worth it... we always come here when I'm craving for Filipino food. The best by far and definitely made with love and care. Family approves. Lol Safe picks for picky eaters: Pork bbq Pork/chicken adobo Beef mami If you like noodles, try their pancit too. Baby loves the beef bulalo. To be fair he likes all the food at this place. ^^

Had a fantastic lunch at Adobo Boy today. I had read about the restaurant in GR Magazine and was inspired to check it out. I had the chicken adobo bowl. It was a rice bowl with a chicken thigh and leg with a soy and vinegar sauce. Also came with cherry tomatoes, cucumber, quail eggs and some sort of bell pepper (I think). It was delicious. It also went well with the excellent chili sauce that came with our spring rolls. My mom and niece split the beef mami, a beef broth soup. It looked very good and the noodles looked fantastic. They both enjoyed it. We had a nice conversation with Ace, who saw my niece's school district t-shirt and mentioned how his son (Redd, the Adobo Boy) goes there too. Redd also said hello to us when he heard us talking about video games. I don't live in GR so I can't say when I'll be back. But I will certainly recommend Adobo Boy to my local friends. It's always great to support local family owned businesses, especially those with fun and tasty food.

Very friendly and accommodating owners who took great effort towards making my first experience memorable. The food was served fast, hot, and fresh so careful not to burn your mouth. I think this family-owned business should be on your short list of must-try GR spots.

20/10 in customer service. Ace and Jackie have a labor of love in this restaurant. They really make you feel at home and welcomed and the food is very well plated and is a HUGE portions. The flavoring is rich without being overpowering and remind me of a home cooked meal you'd eat at a host families home in Manila. The place is decorated with care and has a tropical feel when you sit down. I've been 2 days in a row and HIGH recommend the lumpias. Because the menu changes weekly I'd recommend you try it all :)

Giving this the first 5 stars I've given on this app Every single staff member was so welcoming and kind. They helped us navigate the menu, gave us great things to try, and I watched them give the same great service to everyone that walked in. Now, the food was nothing short of DELICIOUS. My girlfriend and I both loved our dishes. I realized how much I liked it in when I caught myself shamelessly stuffing my face. Can't give it enough kudos. Plus, they change their menu weekly. The restaurant is food court style with Amazing Myanmar and Brunch and Rice (great drinks btw). The spot was clean, comfortable, and lively. Do yourself a favor and come here ASAP

We went for Saturday Brunch craving authentic Filipino food and this was exactly what we were looking for! Service is also extremely friendly and respectful. We also got the lumpia (not pictured) which was so crispy and full of flavor. We got it twice this week already!

During my last visit to Michigan's west coast, I found myself on the hunt for traditional Asian ingredients to demonstrate the fine art of lumpia making to my wonderful Midwestern hosts. Trusty Google led me to this place and I pleasantly discovered that Division Ave is kind of like a mini Asian mecca: Asian grocery after Asian grocery within a few miles. Quite surprising that all this exists out here, at least to me, a naive Pacific coaster, fairly unfamiliar with the midwest. They had a good selection of everything Asian, spices, sauces, canned goods, Durian fruit, Pocky, other desserts, and even some stuff that I would never ever think of putting in my mouth. Silkworms and pig guts and all that. A dedicated freezer section for whatever meat your tongue desires. Andrew Zimmern would be proud! It was about as clean as Asian grocery stores can get, very friendly staff and cheap prices considering how many miles these goods had to cover to make it to Grand Rapids.
