My new water heater.
Joy B.

Water heaters last about 10 years, Zivko, from Payless Plumbing installed my last water heater 10 1/2 years ago. I remember that Zivko was one of my first 5 star reviews for a service industry. Zivko's professional hard worth ethic and dedication to the industry has kept his 4.8 star review status over the last decade. He arrives on time, works hard, and sells quality products. He has reasonable and competitive prices. He even helped me with a problem not related to the water heater. That is service above and beyond. Zivko, is so pleasant and easy to work with. He does a great job and I have the utmost confidence in his company and his work. I highly recommend him.

Ask the Community - Payless Plumbing and Heating

Do you offer financing options for HVAC installations or major repairs?

No. sorry-:(

Do you offer financing options for larger HVAC projects?

No. Sorry-:(

Can you assist with assessing and improving the overall insulation of my home to enhance HVAC efficiency?

We do not do any type of insulation. Sorry-;( You would probably benefit from hiring an energy audit company. They have thermal imaging tools that show hot/cold loss.

How can I control humidity levels in my home with the HVAC system?

Unless you have a whole house humidifier you can't. If you do have a humidifier it would be mounted above your gas furnace and say Aprilaire just to name a most common brand. The control for the humidifier (humidistat) is probably mounted on the…

The main problem and downside is that they are very expensive and overcharge. Despite the Yelp page saying that the company provides a "free estimate", I was quoted $49 for the technician to travel. In addition, if I had not chosen to go ahead with the repair, the company would have charged me an additional $150 diagnostic fee. Essentially, despite the yelp profile stating a "free estimate", it will cost you closer to $200 to get a quote. I see this as false advertisement. In addition, when the technician concluded that the problem was the capacitor, I received a final quote of $600. When I googled the price of the same capacitor online, the price range was in between 75$ - 150$. Essentially, they are charging a premium of at least $450 per replacement for a single part (capacitor). Despite their professionalism and quality work, I do not recommend this company for the reasons stated above. If price is not a concern for you, and you would rather pay twice the market value for a job then you should definitely choose them. EDIT: I actually googled the price of a capacitor and offered to buy my own. I was told that by the technician that if I purchased my own capacitor that the company would not install it. In conclusion, they did not address any of my concerns. Unfortunately, after reading the other bad reviews, there seems to be a consistent pattern of discrepancies between what they tell customers and what they instruct technicians to say on site. Making an honest living is so much more rewarding than making it dishonest living.

Champion Plumbing and Drains deserves every one of these five stars! I had an emergency with my…read morewater boiler over the weekend and called expecting an expensive emergency service visit. The owner personally answered the phone and took the time to patiently walk me through troubleshooting the problem. His guidance helped me resolve it and saved me a $450 emergency service call! What impressed me most was his kindness and honesty. He didn't ask for any payment--he simply wanted to help. Instead of immediately scheduling a paid visit, he shared his knowledge and helped me get things working again. That level of care says so much about a business. He was knowledgeable, patient, generous with his time, and an amazing person to speak with during a stressful situation. I'm incredibly grateful for his help. If you're looking for a plumbing company that treats people with respect and puts customers first, I highly recommend Champion Plumbing and Drains. They've earned my trust and will be my first call for future plumbing needs. Thank you for going above and beyond!

I called Champion Plumbing & Drains on a Sunday for an emergency visit for an actively leaking…read morewater heater at a tenant occupied rental property. At the initial visit, the technician/owner diagnosed the tank as rusted and leaking from the bottom and said it needed to be replaced. Champion quoted me $3,250 for the replacement and scheduled it for Tuesday. At the emergency visit, the gas to the heater was shut off, but the water supply to the leaking tank was not isolated. The heater kept dripping and wetting the carpet outside the closet. I called the owner, Gus, because I was trying to understand why the water had not also been shut off and how my tenants were supposed to safely use the plumbing while waiting for the replacement. My tone during that call was information collecting, not accusatory. I was trying to understand what had been done, why the tank was still leaking, and how to minimize additional damage. Gus became defensive and told me, "I never told you I turned the water off." I was not blaming him. I was asking a pretty basic question about an active leak. It was Labor Day weekend and during that call it sounded like he was at some type of social event and did not really want to be bothered. I understand it was a holiday weekend, but I had paid $200 for an emergency visit and was dealing with an active leak at a rental property less than 24 hr after the visit. At the end of the call he abruptly hung up, and right before it disconnected I heard him say, "fucking people." The replacement was still scheduled for Tuesday. He knew I had three tenants in the property and that they effectively could not use the water at all because running water was making the leak worse. Tuesday came and the scheduled arrival time passed with no one showing up and no communication. I reached out asking for an ETA. Only then was I told they were fully booked and had to "pass on the opportunity." No rescheduled time was offered. When I later followed up with Gus through Yelp asking why they no showed and why he could not even give me another appointment time, his response was, "that's on you my man I don't deal with rude people." I completely disagree with that characterization. My tone had been focused on gathering information about the leak and how to manage it safely, not accusing him or his company of anything. If he decided after our phone call that he did not want the job, that is fine, but the professional thing to do would have been to tell me before the scheduled appointment. Instead, they just did not show up and I had to reach out after the appointment time had already passed. To their credit, they did refund the $200 emergency service fee. I had to find another company to do the replacement. Unfortunately they could not do it until Friday, so my three tenants were left without usable water for several more days. That company also only charged about $2,600 for the replacement compared with Champion's $3,250 quote. After all of this I went back and read the negative reviews more closely and wish I had done that first. There are multiple reviews describing similar experiences with the owner becoming defensive or offended when customers ask questions or raise concerns. After my own experience, those reviews made a lot more sense. They did correctly diagnose the failed water heater and they refunded the emergency fee, but the way everything was handled after that was unacceptable. Scheduling an urgent replacement, not showing up, not giving any advance notice, knowing three tenants were without water, then telling me "that's on you my man I don't deal with rude people" because I asked questions about an active leak is not how I would expect a professional company to operate. I would not use them again.

I called HEIL Plumbing when they opened at 07:30 hrs. I got a return call from Allison within 1 hour. She was able to schedule Eric (the younger) to come out the same day between 09:00 hrs and 13:00 hrs. Eric arrived at approximately 09:20 hrs. Eric quickly diagnosed the issue. This time, while he was running diagnostic checks to identify the issue, fortunately, the toilet clog cleared itself. He ran the check a number of times , including running the sink cold water to try to overload the waste line with water, to make sure that the clogged toilet was no longer an issue. Once he was satisfied that all was good, he let me know that the charge for today would be the general diagniostic charge of $95.00. Again, I was extremely satisfied with the entire process, from making an appointment, to Eric's arrival time, his pleasant demeanor and his professional knowledge.
