I was disappointed with my experience. I explained from the beginning that I work a traditional 9-5 job and asked if weekend appointments were available or how they accommodate customers who can't be home during business hours. I was initially told that people either work from home or take time off work. When I explained that taking PTO for an estimate wasn't reasonable and asked about weekend availability, I had to follow up multiple times before finally being told they do work weekends--information that should have been provided from the start. When I tried to schedule during their weekday window, I explained I couldn't be available before 4:30 PM because of work, but there was no willingness to accommodate or offer a later arrival within the window. Instead, I was simply told, "Good luck with your project." Customer service should include some flexibility and clear communication, especially for customers with full-time jobs. When scheduling, I specifically asked whether they could provide at least a ballpark estimate for snaking a bathtub drain. I was told there was no way to provide pricing information until a technician saw the issue in person. At the same time, I was assured their pricing was "the best in the business," that the owner operates with integrity, and that they are not in the business of gouging customers. Based on those representations, I agreed to schedule service. I was told that due to the snowstorm and several frozen pipe emergencies, the earliest available appointment was Saturday. I understood that weather can create legitimate service delays and agreed to wait. However, late Friday evening, the night before the scheduled Saturday appointment, I received a text stating the plumber would not be able to come because they were behind schedule. The next available appointment was Tuesday. That resulted in a five-day wait from my original call for a routine drain issue. When the technician arrived on Tuesday, I was quoted $550 to snake a single bathtub drain. The work took approximately 30 minutes. After receiving the quote, I texted the office referencing the earlier statement about having the best prices in the business. I was then told that they had not said that, only that their prices were competitive. If $550 is the standard rate for this service, that information could have been shared when I specifically asked for even a general idea of cost. Being told that no pricing guidance could be provided, while simultaneously being reassured about superior pricing and integrity, created expectations that did not align with the final quote. The technician did clear the clog. However, he did not remove his shoes or use protective coverings despite snow and mud outside, and water was tracked into the home. This experience combined a last-minute cancellation due to scheduling issues, a five-day wait for service, no upfront pricing transparency, and a $550 charge for approximately 30 minutes of work. Worked with the Drain Guys to get our water heater fixed. Came to fix it, said we needed a new part, ordered the part, waited a week with no hot water, replaced the part, heater broke again in less than a day. Said we needed yet another part and even then couldn't guarantee that it would fix the issue. Since we had already spent over $1k on parts and labor and since they wanted another $900 for the second part, we called another company for a second opinion. New company came out and said the filter was blocked. Cleared the block free of charge and have had zero issues since. Maybe the Drain Guys should have looked at the easiest and least expensive issue first and we wouldn't be out all of that money. read more

He was very thorough in his diagnosis and provided an in depth sewer scope. Other companies didn't have the adequate tools when we had called in the past but Jesse came prepared. We were disappointed in the (expensive!) drain clearing work performed by the technician; there was still an odor of sewage and then when the drain backed up 3 weeks later, they wanted to charge us the full $495 AGAIN, apparently since we didn't accept their quote of $7500 to tear up our floors and replace a pipe which allegedly had a "belly." We thought this was unprofessional and decided to go with a previous vendor (who did a more thorough job and spent more time diagnosing) and whom we trust more. Guy came out to give a quote. I had a lot of different small-ish projects. The quotes for each project were OUTRAGEOUS! He didn't seem to really be paying close attention to what the jobs actually entailed. He told me I needed to run a line across my whole basement to connect a sink, but when I pointed out where the pipe came into the house, he said 'Oh, I didn't realize that'. Take a moment to imagine the internal stress created when the guest toilet started malfunctioning two days before my entire family came to town to stay for the Holidays- After my husband tried a few, "internet quick fix suggestions", I found myself riddled with anxiety, loading up Yelp Projects, while we discussed, "how much are we able to spend vs just putting up 'out of order' and dealing with it after the Holiday season" Yelp Projects was a fantastic service- we were able to simply post a write up of the issue, our location, our availability, and our urgency- and businesses began to reach out with options- Connecting with the Drain Guys eased a large majority of my anxiety right from the start- a friendly hello, a reassuring let's talk out options & next steps, and no pressure commitment. Drain Guys explained there could be a number of issues that led to our style of malfunction, they offered to come out to do a consultation for free, determine what they think is going on, give us price quotes, and we can either fix it right then & there (they'd book enough time to get it done), or take our time to consider options (& they won't mind coming back when we're ready). Most other competitors quoted consultation fees ranging from $60-120, just to show up, look it over, then tell us next steps (some stated the consultation fee would go towards the overall cost of service & some it was just a required add-on). We opted for Drain Guys, not just because they were a free option, but because of their ease of talking us through the appointment, without making us feel obligated to get out our wallet before we get any information. The plumber that came to my house, Anthony McDaniel, was a consummate professional, and I can't remember the last service technician who was completely honest the way he was! My daughter had done a partial repair of our bathroom sink, but had a problem completing the work.
