I had contacted the Lemmon Valley Paycheck Advance store by phone to make a payment on my loan. While the clerk was walking me thru how to enter my bank info onto my account so I could make a $200 payment, when I clicked "continue", it took the remaining loan balance of $1205 out of my checking account-even tho I had not even put an amount in yet. I told this to the person I was speaking with on the phone and she said she would call her supervisor to see what could be done. The first supervisor, Claudia, called me and advised me nothing could be done to to get my money back. I requested the issue to be escalated to another supervisor. The 2nd supervisor, Renee, told me the same thing, so I told her I would be disputing the transaction with my bank. Upon talking to my bank, they advised me that the supervisors were "misleading" me and that bc the transaction was in a "pending" status, they COULD absolutely cancel the transaction. Because the transaction is pending, I cannot dispute the transaction until it posts to my account. This has left me in a serious bind bc it took an extra $1000 out of my account leaving me no money until I get paid in 3 weeks. My bank has also advised me to file a complaint with the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau.
I believe I was targeted and taken advantage of by Paycheck Advance because I am a senior citizen and Paycheck Advance did not think I would know how to file a complaint with the online review companies, the BBB, the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau or my bank since I did not know how to enter my banking info online. Boy, were they wrong! This sassy senior citizen will also be filing an action in Small Claims Court seeking not only the $1000 they fraudulently took from, but also $9000 in punitive damages to prevent them from doing this to anyone else.
Now I know why they only have a 1-2 Star rating. I just wish I would have looked at their reviews before I applied for the loan!
