This company has very poor customer service. Not once had any of them bothered to ask if I need any help or if I was ready to check out, I stood in front of them what felt like 2 to 3 minutes, and the two ladies in front of me not once bothered to ask me if I was ready to check out. They priced fairly, enforced masks/cleanliness, and made sure the condo was not damaged during any of the process. Their post sale donation clean out was worth every penny. Is it possible to give less than one star?! Hired Paxem to move my mom from her home in Mundelein, Illinois. Paxem showed up two hours late with a truck too small and not prepared. Sent them away and hired a new mover. After contacting Paxem they said.... We couldn't agree with you more. Moving is a stressful time and that's why we are a Senior Move Manager. We were told that you did not need our help, and you did not hire us. As a courtesy, Terry sent in a mover to assist you. This mover is not part of Paxem, Inc. She did give the mover the necessary information and unfortunately, they did not send a truck large enough. We have not experienced this delay or issue before and were unaware of it until late this afternoon when notified. An option for the dining room set, and maybe more cost effective, is to donate it and take the tax write off. Dining room sets don't sell for a high amount and we cannot guarantee the return on your investment. Again, we are sorry your family experienced the issue with the mover this morning. We are happy to help you in anyway we can. I say BULL SHIT!!! We did hire you to move, come with a truck large enough AND have wardrobe boxes (which they had NONE). I never heard back. I called the number on the posting and no one picked up. I went to the website and called that number, and no response either. I recently used Paxem for help twice- once moving my mother and then again for my mother-in-law. On both occasions, Paxem arranged the movers, elevator reservations, provided all packing materials, packed, unpacked at the new place and hung paintings. They also disposed of the packing materials after the move. For the second move, in addition, they directed the furniture placement in the new place. I can't rate their services highly enough! Estimates were provided promptly and accurately. The Paxem crew and the movers they hired were punctual, careful, efficient, and professional. As a bonus, they were very pleasant too! read more

I went to one of Paxem's estate sale on June 13th, Saturday, at 1:15pm, in Carol Stream. I met Eileen and Gail, although I may have Gail's name wrong. It seemed they were the only two working, one in the house and one outside working the cash register. It was a smaller home so that seemed fine when I arrived. Eileen was trying to drag a rather large upholstered chair by herself out of the kitchen so I asked her if she needed my help. She did. I told her how to tilt the chair on it's side and angle it though the sliding glass doors and helped her carry it around the rear of the house to the front. I offered help, so I didn't mind. However, I am concerned that two people might not have been enough workers. Especially, when one worker is attempting to move heavy furniture and I am also a little concerned that I had more knowledge moving furniture than she did. I'm worried about the owners belongings being damaged. Eileen informed me that everything was half off. This is a great deal and I feel fair. The items need to move and that's less the owners have to worry about and I can get some much needed items closer to my budget. I saw a beautiful dish set for $140. I asked Eileen if it was half off for $70 even though she already told me that everything was half off. She said she believed it was and for me to ask Gail ( this is where I'm sketchy on the name). So I went to the lady at the cash register "Gail" and asked her how much. She wasn't very approachable, no smile no hello no welcome like Eileen. Anyway I asked her about the dishes and gave her the price cars so she knew which set I was talking about. There was a lot of confusion about that. However, She said she would give it to me for $100. I was disappointed of course, I had one lady tell me $70, now this one is telling me $100. Neither were on the same page. I'm concerned about the lack of communication. I then told Gail about the miscellaneous dinnerware pieces and if I could buy some of those. I only needed 4 of each anyway. So she told me to get Eileen and have her switch out Gail. So I went and got Eileen and sent her to Gail to send Gail inside. So one worker was still at the register and one inside. I hope by now you may understand that I'm starting to get very concerned and frustrated, but all the same staying patient. I waited for Gail for a few minutes and finally she came. I showed her the pieces I was referring to because she kept thinking I was talking about the full set. She expressed that the full set had been moved and it shouldn't have been. She told me to figure out what I wanted and put them in a pile. So I put all the pieces together with no help. She had left the room. She came back and then tried calculating how much each piece would be. She got frustrated and told me she just couldn't do it and she was too tired. I was very patient and told her it's okay, I will figure it out on my phone. She left me by myself and my phone calculator wasn't cooperating. She came back and asked me if I got it figured out and of course I didn't. She told me she'd give the pieces I wanted for $30. I told her I will take them if she throws in the can opener. She said yes. After that, I was left alone and I had to hunt Gail and Eileen down looking for help to put them in my car or a bag, or a box, anything. Gail gave me a bag of newspaper and pushed a box on the floor over to me and walked out. So, I sat ON THE FLOOR wrapping my dishes by myself in the kitchen. Please realize had I been a very bad person, I could have wrapped up more than what was agreed. BUT I am a GOD fearing woman and would never do that. I told them thank you very much when I left and also bought a ice scream scooped for 50 cents, that should have been 25 cents because Eileen told me everything was half off. So I ended up paying for the can opener anyway. Yes it's a good deal either way, but I'm very big on Your Word. If you say it's half off then that's what it should be regardless if you feel you're not getting enough money. I'm extremely disappointed with the lack of help, especially when I went out of my way to help Eileen. It's common courtesy to be helpful to each other. I am concerned for the owners belongings. There was a major lack in the amount of workers and I was left alone many times, too many times. I should have never been alone to pack those dishes. I should have been quickly helped and sent on my way. Paxem is very lucky I am an honest upright person. read more

I have been to numerous sales with this company over the last year and have had nothing but great experiences all-around I have dealt with Gail, Dorothy and a gentleman that I'm not sure what his first name is, they have always been extremely professional and helpful. I have also visited the showroom and felt it was extremely organized and have nice items. One thing I appreciate about Gill is she leads her team with integrity and gives Direction on fair pricing along with letting a person know if something is wrong with an item prior to purchasing rather than just pretending they didn't realize something was broken like a lot of other companies. When I visited the consignment store I think the girl that works there is Carissa and she is always extremely professional and helpful. Having to make an interstate move in our mid-80's, we wanted as stress-free an experience as possible and have someone else deal with all the problems and coordination. We were obviously unable to handle most of the physical work ourselves due to advanced age, plus my wife is an invalid. Paxem sounded like the perfect solution, offering "decluttering, home staging, packing, moving, referrals for supporting services and many other needs." We first spoke with Jennifer, the owner, who recited "chapter and verse" about all the wonderful services Paxem provides, only Paxem did NOT deliver. Then we were handed over to Terry, who was utterly worthless. First off, it took her 4 days to return our initial telephone call! She finally showed up and under estimated the packing at about 50% of what it actually required, but she never made any arrangements to get it done. She was supposed to help us arrange for donations of unneeded furniture and in fact did nothing, leaving that problem with us. We had to pay someone to haul these off. Same with the movers - nothing. That was supposed to be Paxem's responsibility and Paxem didn't do that either Terry was also supposed to connect us with a real estate broker - probably the easiest task of all. She did not do that either! We never heard from Jennifer again and Terry was very difficult to reach on the phone. Paxem is worthless, They do not do what they say they will do and are a complete waste of time. read more

Wow...what a nightmare. I used Paxem for my first move 6 years ago and they were fantastic. Well....they've grown quite a bit and their service is now officially DISMAL! Packers arrived late and with an attitude because they couldn't figure out how to drive to Chicago. Do you want your possessions packed for a scavenger hunt? Boxes marked as "Living Room" that are filled with bathroom towels, rugs & artwork? Part of my stuff was to be permanently packed for storage and guess what? Every single box had to be opened because everything was commingled. Despite sending out another "packer" to help (complete with a bad attitude about how far she had to drive) it was still a complete disaster. Oh...and the owner called in the midst of trying to sort through the chaos they created and reminded the girl that "SHE'S NOT SUPPOSED TO HELP ME MOVE STUFF IN"...really????? They left two cabinets completely unpacked so the owner had to come back at the very last minute and pack those up herself. Don't even ask what this cost...they should've PAID ME for this experience. With no inventory sheet (which was provided on my first move) it meant that I couldn't make sure the movers had every box. Now I'm missing a lamp and half my crystal & china. I enjoy going to estate sales and have been to hundreds of them throughout the years but today I had the displeasure of attending an estate run by Paxem. They posted an ad on an estate sale website which stated the sale started at 10 AM. I arrived at 9:30 am and approached the residence where the sale was taking place, as I was walking up to the residence I noticed a long line of people waiting outside, in my head I thought , "Oh good I am right on time " as I waited in line I noticed there was people already walking in and out of the house with shopping bags. I asked the other people in line if the sale had started already and they all complained that they started letting people in early and top that off to prevent theft they were only letting people inside of the house one at a time. after 1 hour and 5 minutes of waiting outside (in the cold) I walked in the house and asked if I could come in and at least stand inside so I could warm up. I was quickly scolded by the angry woman running the cash register and asked to wait outside. After another 10 minutes passed by I was finally let inside , there was a number of things I wanted to buy but by the time my turn had reached everything good was already taken and whatever was left was disgustingly over-priced. Overall this was a poorly planned sale, if they wanted to start the sale early I wish they would have updated their ad so everyone could have had a fair shot of buying what they had their eye on. in addition if theft is such a concern they should invest in locking display cases like many real and professional estate sale companies do or just hire more people. I know I wasnt the only frustrated person there as many people couldn't stand the waiting and just left, In closing I wouldn't trust these people to run a yard sale let alone an estate sale.. read more

I had a superb experience with Paxem when they did an estate sale and subsequent total clean-out on my late mother's house in May 2015. Everything was first-class. From the initial consult at the house with Gayle Nudelman to the final paperwork, they were always efficient, professional, and savvy, as well as warm, understanding, and compassionate. They took a bazillion photos of my mother's massive lifetime accumulation and advertised the sale thoroughly. They did creative things like hosting a pre-sale jewelry party because my mom had so much costume jewelry. They communicated with me every step of the way. The sale was so successful (more than $10,000) that it paid for their commission and the clean-out, and still left more than $4,000 in profit for me. At my request, they provided me with an extremely detailed manifest of everything left over from the sale that they donated to charity. This is not only essential for my taxes, but is also now a lasting memento. Even though I had gone over the house on what I'd thought was inch by inch, Paxem found important family items that my mother had squirreled away in bizarre places. They packed everything up and sent it to me. I always felt they were treating my mother's stuff and my feelings with respect. And they know their business. I enthusiastically recommend Paxem to anyone who needs an estate sale and/or clean-out. I appreciate Paxem all the more because they came to my rescue. I live 300 miles away and work full-time, so I had very limited ability to get to Chicago. Because of break-ins in my mom's neighborhood, I was desperate to get the house cleared out ASAP. I had already contacted four other firms before finding out about Paxem. They hadn't been on my radar because on Angie's List they were reviewed only for senior moves, not for estate sales. My original first choice, Organizing Options of Illinois, was beautifully responsive, but by the time I'd finished going through the house and was ready for the sale, they were booked up for two months. Three other firms were non-starters. Miss 50's didn't answer my initial email. Best By Far Estate Sales didn't answer either, and although after I phoned them they came for a consult, after seeing how knickknack-crammed the house was they were clearly uninterested. Life's Many Transitions scheduled a consult but had to cancel; I didn't mind that, but then they never answered my request to reschedule. After Organizing Options told me they were booked, in desperation I asked my realtor (the superb Nancy Perlman) if she knew anybody, and one of her colleagues suggested Paxem. The Paxem team totally understood my time constraints and flew into action. What a find! I can't imagine a better experience with anyone else. read more
