We just left Pax Ace Hardware where i stupidly purchased a pair of women's garden gloves. I chose the gloves because they looked like very good quality and the price was marked $3.00 off the original price. When I got to the register, the gloves were not rung up at $3.00 off. When I questioned the cashier she asked if I was a member and I said no. Her reply was we ran out of sign up sheets or I would sign you up. Well, guess what---not that it matters to anyone but I guess they won't get my business anymore. I worked in customer service for 30 ish years for a major chemical company and I gave excellent customer service and expect it in return. It must have been a weak moment for me as I left with the gloves at the original price. I normally would have left them there . Garden gloves are not a hard to find item. Also, I will give the gentleman that checked on us the benefit of the doubt...question is Was he checking on us to make sure we were purchasing or really wanted to know if he could help us find something....Even through I had the item to purchase in my hand at the time. I came to the store a couple days ago for light bulbs, there were so many different types of light bulbs. We had a great experience with this store. Dealer wanted to charge $240 + an hour of my time (pre-scheduled appointment too) for a replacement chip key for our car. I knew box hardware stores did it, so I was determined to find a cheaper way. Unfortunately, Lowes and Depot only do certain models, and even then, only certain years within their already-narrow parameters. If you have a very popular car, you may be in luck there, but it is really hit or miss, even with some pretty well-loved vehicles, like ours. So I literally called about 12 other stores in 4 counties, before this place. Finally, Sears Auto in Media told me to call Tri-State Sound (aka Sound of Tri-State), who recommended this True Value to us as someone who does chip keys. The man on the phone was really nice, and very conscientious about getting our exact model year and make, to be sure he had the right key and could do it. After a few minutes' hold, he confirmed they could do it for $69.99 + 20 minutes to program the car. AWESOME!!!!!! Great experience with this store! Do note though, that not all True Values offer this. This is one location that has a superior key service, and they deserve a lot of credit for the value they offer, plus the customer service. So grateful to find them! Saved me $170 !!!! read more

Great service and nice people, and a good selection. Not overwhelming like a lot of other hardware stores.

Shoppers who care about their health should know that none of the employees wear a mask. They don't care if they infect you, so why support them? They also allow customers in without a mask. The space is crowded so masks are your only protection, but the staff don't seem to care. We will no longer shop at this store. We wear our masks to protect them, they should offer the same courtesy. read more

After coming from Sears where no one asked me for help or just ignored a paying customer, I came to this store and figure maybe I will get better service or at least greeted as I came in. I was so disappointed. I came in where cashier's were holding personal conversations and no one greeted me. I began to walk around where there were associates but once again no one asked me if I needed help. I was looking for parts for my bathroom and kitchen. I figure if no one can say anything to me, must not want my business. I left after about 10 - 15 mins of looking and walking. Found what I wanted but once again no customer service. I left and went to another store where I was able to get customer service and at least acknowledgement. What I don't understand is a simple "welcome" or "hello" can go a long ways and put a extra couple hundred in the register. A part of my front door has been broken for THREE years. I have taken it to Home Depot 3 separate times for help. No luck. I go into this place, and in 10 minutes I have the part. It took me 10 seconds to put it back on my door and it's good as new. Their staff is helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and polite. There really is so much to be said for personal service. And their prices are not higher than the big box places. Hooray for small businesses!!! read more

I hate using the big stores and often patronize smaller community bases stores. This is my second trip here and each time the staff was helpful and I was able to get exactly what I came for. I'm glad that these smaller chains have survived Walmart, Home Depot and Lowes! As long as they are open I will.do my part to keep them in the neighborhood. read more

Make sure you know what you can and can't return before you buy it. Bought some tubing (which I didn't use). Wasn't 100% if it was going to be the right size, the kid working there knew I didn't know and I said well I can just bring it back if it doesn't fit. Kid never told me that there is a no return policy on the tubing. All of the sudden we come back the next day to return it after finding it I bought the wrong size and they suddenly have a sign that says no returns on that product. Maybe if they taught the employees better this wouldn't happen. It's no wonder small shops like this are closing down to big box stores. read more
