I can't recommend Amwell Veterinary Practice highly enough. Dale and Margaret are not only kind and…read morecompassionate but also extremely experienced and knowledgeable. They've looked after our dog Bubu for years, and we'd be lost without them. After moving to Southampton, we tried other vets and realised how rare it is to find people like them. Too many seemed focused on money, not the animal. Dale and Margaret are the opposite. They genuinely care, give honest advice, and never suggest anything unnecessary. Even now, we travel back to London for Bubu's care because no one else comes close. They're the kind of vets every pet owner hopes to find.

So far, so good…read more.. I found this veterinary practice on Yelp based on an older review, and hoped that all the facts still rung true. My luck (and Tillie's!) they certainly did. My pup is getting on in years, and that comes with its own set of challenges. I wanted to have her throughly checked out to make sure nothing was terribly amiss before we left on a long trip. I easily and quickly made an appointment with the very polite receptionist and was booked in for a Friday evening appointment. We arrived rain-soaked to a happy, warm office full of the vet's own pooches. We were greeted warmly, seen quickly and the good doctor gave her a once over and sent me home with instructions to collect a urine sample (I had my husband do that job, thankyouverymuch) and return the following day to have it tested for any irregularities, etc. Dutiful dog dad did just this, walked it back over, paid £20 for the test, and they called us later that day with the results: your dog is old and her kidneys are slow, but she isn't in any pain or distress. Well, all good...best case scenario and we now take many trips outside to use "the loo" to accommodate the kidney-deficient canine. Big plus: the initial exam and registration appointment is free of charge. I had no idea this was true...but what a great way to be introduced to a practice. I'll surely be back. Very friendly folks that won't try to upsell you and leave you bankrupt. Practical solutions for your pets.

DO NOT GO TO THESE VETS!!! I have came here for some time but have now changed. The vet quality and…read moreservice is very bad. Rude receptionist and rude Italian vet who is very egotistical and does not listen. They only think about how to take more money from customers and do not care about animals health. They also overcharge you on vet bill so be careful. Go with a private vet instead and it will probably be cheaper too and better service.

On moving to the area and checking out the various veterinary options we concluded that this one…read morelooked clean and professional and had the best facilities when compared with the competition. It has since recently expanded further to add surgical capability. Our two cats were duly taken along for their first check-up, which kicked off with a talk on responsible pet ownership. It transpired that, having been taken in by the advertising and ready availability at the local supermarket, what we were feeding them was wholly unsuitable and basically junk food (eek, how shameful!). In addition we were giving them too much of it - cats should be treated like "bonsai panthers" and kept lean and keen. It was suggested we could try giving them a raw chicken wing as a treat on occasion (cooked bones were bad for them). Duly admonished we stocked up on the more wholesome and natural Lily's Kitchen and Meowing Heads cat food sold by the adjoining pet shop, and, to the cats' disgust, reduced their portion sizes. When presented with a raw chicken wing (an outdoors only treat!), clearly having become accustomed to the cat equivalent of burgers and chips, and being the least convincing bonsai panthers ever likely to be seen, the cats quickly abandoned it in favour of a snooze on the sofa whilst they waited for something more palatable to turn up in their bowls. On their second annual check-up we arrived slightly apprehensive that we had failed to instill in them any appetite for the lifestyle of a bonsai panther, but all was fine (well, they're still on the larger side but it's not that they're fat, they're just big boned. Honestly, it's the nature of the breed!) I feel confident that this Practice knows what it's doing and, should my cats require anything more than a check-up and booster vaccinations, would be very capable of delivering a high standard of treatment and care. The reception staff always seem cheerful and friendly and are happy to help if you're looking for something in particular in the pet shop side of things, which stocks a good selection of food and other pet paraphernalia. I can never resist picking up some kind of treat when doing the food shop, and have returned home with everything from scratching mats, feather toys, and even a cat sensory centre (don't ask)!

Packed me off with pills. Months later, it was worse than ever, very distressing for all. They operated again. Nothing found. Cost thousands of pounds. After 2 years, it got to the point I was considering having her put down. She was sad and lonely because her discharge meant we couldn't always cuddle her. I took her in desperation to Clerkenwell Animal Hospital. They are the ONLY VETS IN LONDON to have their own on-site CT scanner. To cut a long story short, they operated, found a 4" long piece of woody tree up her nose and removed it. After 2 years of misery for everyone I now have a new dog. She is so happy and I could cry. Apart from this, their bills are less than Village Vets. I am happy to discuss this review in person. I own Tart Bar come and see me!

Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience at Clerkenwell Animal Hospital. I won't return. My…read morego-to vet is now Amwell Vet Surgery. If you are looking for a kind, honest vet that loves animals...that is a good place for you. I brought my aging pooch companion here (due to location/convenience) with a few bits and bobs that needed a look. A cyst on her eye, bump on her leg, teeth looking a little gnarly, and a small dark dot on her neck, under her chin. She's getting old, and the cracks are starting to show but she is otherwise really in very good health and shape. She's 13...so, when making decisions regarding her health I appreciate having all the information, and making decisions that will allow her to lead her snoozy retired life in peace, for the most part. Any sedation or extreme measures should be considered but not necessarily undertaken if they don't greatly increase quality of life. What's the saying? Better to let old dogs lie? She wishes! :) Within literally seconds of being in the exam room the vet (who scarcely looked at her) diagnosed the brown dot on her neck as melanoma and said it needed to be excised, and that while she was under she should have at least 6 teeth removed, if not more. He couldn't be sure until she was under. He hastily snapped an iphone pic of her teeth. Why? I don't know. As for the bump on her wrist -- would need to be biopsied at a VERY hefty sum to see what it was and the eye cyst would need removal, suture and sedation. Whoa. A bit of a shock...and as they were trying to book me in the very next day, I felt a bit too high pressure for my liking. Also it was going to cost upwards of £2k. What? No. I opted for a second opinion at my regular vet (who is lovely - Amwell Vet Surgery in Islington) a few days later. Melanoma on neck = old blood blister that was easily drained and gone within seconds. Zero Bump on wrist = he advised I leave it based on its location the removal would cause more pain than good given her age. Eye = this one they agreed on, the cyst did need to be removed which required sedation and a suture. Based on that procedure he suggested he do a dental cleaning and at that time he would decide if any teeth needed to be removed. The goal always being quality of life, least amount of discomfort, etc. So, for about £600 Madame Tillie spent the day at Amwell and is doing very well. Had I gone with Clerkenwell it would've cost me nearly 4x that amount, plus a lot of unnecessary suffering for my old girl. The second opinion was worth it and this operation seems a bit too quick to take drastic measures without knowing anything about the animals. Bedside manner also lacking. I won't return. For around £50 I wasted an hour of our lives and paid for the pleasure of being overwhelmed. Additional star for emergency services and weekend hours. If it truly is an emergency, this would definitely be a decent option for your furry friend.

Beware of the RSVC and Elizabeth Street Veterinary Clinic, 55 Elizabeth Street, SW1W 9PP. They take no accountability or responsibilities for their actions. It blind leading blind. After the RSVC take months to response. The outcome can be describe as alarming and dreadful. It can be said that the RSVC is just as disturbed as the vet in question. And also the other vets who gleefully gleamed because they thought lying, starving, maiming, and hurting defenceless animals was humorous. Our belove pet eventually died from his injuries. Following an investigation, the RSVC failed to address any of our complaints, including the vet in question's negligent attitude and practice. Instead, the RSVC responded by stating that they fully support the vet and will defend him, and that we should apologise for hurting his feelings. This only leads to one conclusion, is that pet owners should be amused too and happy when vile vets kill or maimed their treasure member of their family's. It is evident that only the RSVC, the vet, and the clinic staff have feelings. And pet owners should shut up and move on. Don't be fool, by their VIP service, its desperation and clout chasing. They are only after money and wealthy who they can push up on. Elizabeth Street Veterinary Clinic Vets care nothing about pets. But if they believed the pets owners are loaded with money or important in their eyes. Then they will take care in how they treat pets. Thank you, Violet

Our regular vets are shut on Sunday, but have a tie-up with this clinic for emergencies. The nurse on the phone was very helpful and helped calm us down. She gave us some recommendations, and told us to call again in the evening if the symptoms didn't abate. We had to call them again and were given an appointment quickly. The nurse in the waiting room was efficient and calmed us down as well as all the other people who came in with their pets in emergencies. The doctor when we saw her was brilliant. Attentive to all our input and handled our temperamental + sick cat beautifully. Given the problem we have getting a tablet down her throat, she gave us a paste to feed her in 2 hours and she has promised us that cats LOVE the taste. She also gave her an injection for the nausea and discomfort and put in a bit of a pain killer too to ease the cat. As soon as we got home, our cat who was on 15-20% energy levels and 60% stubbornness for the past 24 hours, is now at 60% energy and 90% stubbornness ( in 30 minutes) Very very impressed and happy with every interaction that we had with this clinic today.
