I looked for a place similar to his daycare where we are from and decided to give Dioji a try. Check-in and wellness check was great; he seemed to enjoy the staff and I did too. At pick-up on his trial day, it was explained to me there was an "accident" and another dog was let into the daycare area with canine HPV (dog warts) and were not examined properly so my dog "might have been exposed." Turns out he definitely was exposed and then got the very contagious wart on his mouth which ruined Christmas and New Years plans because when you have it, you shouldn't be around other dogs. Of course Dioji couldn't possibly be expected to help with the situation. He has a couple more visits in late winter after the wart fell off and he was no longer contagious himself. The visits were fine, though he didn't get photo report cards like they promise. Fast forward to two weeks ago, another "accident." I dropped him off in the afternoon for a half day. He was there for less than an hour and I got a phone call that he threw up but they did not know why. They believed that he may have just been too hot so they separated him. I told them to call me back if he did not bounce back and I would come pick him up. They did not call back so I assumed he was fine. When I picked him up at the end of the day, the person at the desk went back to get him and gave no indication that there was a problem. Then another different staff person came to greet me and tell me that my dog was "maybe" stung by a bee, and "had a little allergic reaction" but they looked for the stinger and couldn't find it. How do you find a bee stinger in a brown dogs fur?! My dog comes around the corner and looked like Thing from Fantastic Four, clearly shaken up. They also gave him Benadryl but didn't know how much. One person said the reaction had just happened, one said maybe it happened a while ago when he threw up. He was clearly having an anaphylaxis reaction, and I was not called or told until I came to pick him up. I called the vet immediately to get their advice, and they told me to call the daycare back to find out how much Benadryl he was given so I could monitor his care. Magically the staff now knew how much and then I got another (third) story about what or how it happened. Let me be clear: I do not blame them for a bee getting into the park. This review is purely based on the care or lack there of in a serious situation and that the stories kept changing. On top of that, I was charged for a full day that day instead of a half day (timestamp in 1:18 pm and timestamp out 5:17 = 3:59) based on my account receipt. Four hours or less is a half day. There are never "adults" there to talk to about what happens if there is an issue; it is all college age kids working part time jobs. In both of my situations, no one would take ownership over what happened and they have no idea what to say when confronted in person or on the phone. I'm not going back to Dioji, I'll try other options. FWIW, the 2 stars are because there has been staff person who has been great to talk to (Jake maybe?) and because of their flexible hours, multiple locations and toy/food options available.

I cannot begin to explain the amount of relief from anxiety training my dogs with Ricky has brought me. No amount of therapy could touch how I felt previously. I have learned patience, clear communication (with my dogs), and appreciation of the minds ability to change after years and years of ingrained unwanted behaviors. Ricky does not sell a one size fits all package - each of my dogs are VERY different, and while the fundamental approaches and concepts in training are the same - the method and timing in which we applied and reinforced these were vastly different. Ricky is able to connect with two leggers and four leggers alike - he gives clear feedback to dogs and human and uses metaphors that we humans understand (driving the speed limit and getting speeding tickets haha) on how the concepts of his approach effects dog behavior. I couldn't be happier. I am humble and I know I need to continue management (and one of my dogs I am holding to higher standard so we are going to continue our own sessions based on what I have learned) but my dogs are completely different. I'm getting complimented by family, friends, and people on walks - impressed with how well behaved my dogs are. I smile and tell them "thank you it's lots of continued hard work" and move along. This morning in particular we walked during trash pick up, had lots of people distractions, and both dogs stayed heeled and attentive to me on their separate walks. Do not hesitate to consider Ricky for your training needs. Also, if you feel alone with your dogs behavior - please know you are anything but alone. The fact you are looking at reviews for dog trainers is a clear indicator that you want the best for your dog and intend to give them them best. :)

After a Rover appointment canceled our Thanksgiving arrangements, we contacted Ruff Ranch in desperation. Ruff Ranch is located off the 154 just before Los Olivos. It's in a beautiful, ranch setting. While we needed to have a free trial stay first, we took half the day off on a Friday, dropped Bruce off and had a nice lunch in Solvang. The facilities are spacious and perfectly clean with zero odor. All the personnel were happy and friendly, as were the dogs. We were skeptical at first when they said they would put Bruce in a group with older, mellower dogs. When we returned, they said he did great and even made some friends. My wife and I were both shocked and pleased. Ruff Ranch was on our way to a Northern California Thanksgiving stay. He boarded for 3 nights and we included the pre-pickup bath. At pickup, he was happy, squeaky clean, nails trimmed with zero issues reported. We are thankful and relieved to have a place to board Bruce in the future with people that really know and love dogs - and it showed in our dog's demeanor at pickup. They also offer obedience training, which I believe is how they can so quickly tailor an optimal setting and experience for your dog, and get them adjusted and safe. Ruff Ranch even offers a shuttle pickup service from SB. We are very relieved that we have a reliable and comfortable boarding solution for our dog in the future; I can't recommend The Ruff Ranch enough.

We felt they took great care of our dog and we will be booking them again when we visit this area!

I booked 15 days of cat care on her impersonal website, and when I checked back a day later, all of my requests had been accepted. Five days before my European travel, however, I got an email from Severine saying Snoopy's couldn't care for my cats because she had a problem with "the sitter." I guess there's only one, since I didn't request anyone in particular, and apparently she has no back-up. Severine was not at all sensitive to my situation. She did not offer to step in to care for my cats, and she left me in a total panic trying to find a trustworthy cat sitter five days before a two week trip. Totally unprofessional, or perhaps just evidence of a business that is on its last legs. Trust it at your peril.

As a pet sitter, I think they should do things the way I want as I had specific needs and directions for my pets. Mica and her helper did everything wrong and even overrode my specific directions. IF this that happened maybe 1-3 times, it's a mistake. I'm pretty understanding. But on a short pet sit, they literally did everything wrong. From the very beginning to the very end, with no apology and an attitude of "well, things happen". Just to give you a few examples, they overfed my cats (despite clearly written and oral instructions - 1 can. I got messages from them say they gave more. I told them to only give one. I came home to find 2 cans put out for my cats!! This is negligence!) and didn't follow simple instructions for opening and closing windows (and locking them) which could have endangered my home - These are just some small examples, other were worse. I was rudely told that she couldn't speak to me when I tried to ask about what happened. I even had expressed to her that I was nervous to leave my cats while I was on vacation, but despite me telling her this, she STILL did everything wrong and didn't tell me or apologize. I also came home to find all the above problems, AND ALSO a full plastic bag of what had been scooped out of a cat litter left on the floor next to the litter box, rather than disposed of properly as they should have. Yes folks, they scooped poo and pee out and left it there in the bag, on my floor. This is totally unacceptable when you are paying this much!!! The icing on the cake was that later discovered that my home was infested with fleas after their pet sit which it was not before. I have reason to believe they may have infested my home, brought them from other cats they were petsitting. Quite simply, I will never recommend or use this company again. They don't follow directions and have a very lazy, entitled attitude about petsitting that is makes their prices very much NOT worth it. Sound hard to believe? I was shocked too. I'm a busy person but wrote this because while she may come off very "charming" she is utterly incompetent and probably passive-aggressive when it comes to instructions.
