We had our first visit and from the first call I made for my cat's appointment to leaving the office they were top notch. The receptionist was friendly, tech was the only tech my cat has ever been ok with. The Vet was very knowledgeable and explained our options in depth and we never felt rushed. I'm so glad I found PAWS Veterinary Center. They are helping my dog recover from a back injury, but that's not all they are focused on. They are working with his entire body, and pulling together a multi level treatment plan that integrates some of the best treatments available from around the world. Just as our national consciousness has become more and more aware of the benefits of probiotics, eliminating things that cancer can feed on, and that proper nutrition opens the door to overall health, PAWS is right there. I can choose from the best of eastern and western medicine. Plus it's working! I live about 90 miles from the clinic. I recently adopted a dog and needed to get a check up. He is resource protective and is a bit dog aggressive so I was afraid to bring him in. That fear melted with the help of the staff. They are incredibly knowledgeable, patient, soft spoken and thoughtful. My own anxiety disappeared with their help, and his seemed to disappear as we'll. I wish I could find a doctors office for the rest of my family as great as this vet center is for our new dog. I totally recommend them, especially if you have a pet that is a little more challenging to handle. And here we are, 6 years later, with our now-geriatric dog with multiple complex, chronic ailments, and we access the expert, compassionate care at PAWS a lot more frequently. And we could not be more pleased. Especially over the past 3 years, we have utilized multiple modalities, from surgery with no post-anesthesia complications, comprehensive and accurate physical exams, to physical therapy/rehabilitation, underwater treadmill, acupuncture, joint injections, Chinese herbal medications prepared specifically for our dog, Prolozone and acupuncture, as well as several Western medication regimes. We have received referrals out to vet specialists for our dog's conditions, but have found ourselves, over time, coming back to Dr Aronson for all of our dog's care, and finding it superior to the specialist. We appreciate Dr. Aronson's expertise, his mindful and well-thought out care plan for our dog, and the wealth of Eastern and Western medicine skill and modalities he offers us. He really cares about our dog, and feels our worries and is always kind, compassionate, and in no hurry. Additionally, the facility is calm and clean and spacious, really top-notch. The check-in/check-out is highly efficient, friendly, and accurate. They know our dog, and us, and greet us cordially every time, no matter how hectic it is for them. The vet techs are ALL superb, without fail. They really listen, take accurate charting notes, ask pertinent questions, and we can tell they really care about our dog, and us, and they are very expert with our dog. The PT/Rehab staff Justin and Hillary are excellent and have cared for and helped our dog, and I believe, really extended his life with their care plan and diligence. We will never take our dog to any other practice. Expensive, but worth every last dime. I have been taking my dog to PAWS for over two years and both vets I have seen here are great! They're both great with my pup and patiently answer all of my crazy dog mom questions. I took my dog in for a rabies shot. Although she had a full exam 4 months ago, the tech insisted that she needed another ($65) before she could get her shot ($24). At least two other vets in town offer shots for $14 and a free exam. This is strictly a high-end vet practice. Great building, nice magazines and waiting area. The quality of care was fine, but don't go unless you are prepared to pay a lot of money for even the basics. read more

There is no question that PAWS is a beautiful facility with competent and caring staff. I went there because my dog has been coping with a chronic gastrointestinal problem and as it is advertised as integrative medicine, I thought they would offer holistic alternatives. I scheduled a consultation with Dr. Randy Aaronson because I was hoping to help my dog and avoid the expensive endoscopy which I told him at our visit. He was very encouraging that there were several things and an endoscopy was much further down the line. Unfortunately, the blood test, x-rays, and fecal test were negative. When the medication he gave my dog did not resolve the problem within two weeks, Dr. Aaronson suggested doing the endoscopy (close to $3000) rather than spending a lot of money on trying other things. He's correct that this procedure is the ideal way to guide the treatment of GI problems. It is worth noting that even with a diagnosis, not all dogs will respond to treatment or they will relapse. I was surprised that Dr. Aaronson could only offer prescription dog food and worming as alternatives to the endoscopy. Recommending the endoscopy was, he said, to avoid spending a lot of money trying different things. I'm confused-- what are some of these things that would cost a lot of money? My other concern with PAWS is that at the time of my initial visit when we didn't know for sure what the tests she was given that day would reveal and her GI tract was upset, I was sold over a month's supply of Tylan. Then after two weeks when it hadn't resolved the problem, he recommended the endoscopy. I wondered why so many pills in the first place (at $140) when we didn't know they would work. I also was sold that day three supplements that I could only begin using after she got better. Looking back I wish I had had the presence of mind to question this since as it turns out I'm still not sure when I can give them to my dog. If you can afford to spend over a $1000 in diagnosing your pet's GI disease, I'd recommend PAWS. My impression of Dr. Aaronson is that he is knowledgeable, upbeat, and experienced and the staff is caring and professional. Unfortunately, I ended up feeling like since I couldn't spend the money they were done with me. I got the impression that I was too much trouble since I wasn't going to accrue credit card debt. It left me with a somewhat disappointed feeling-- quite different than when I left the initial consultation. read more

I took my French Bulldog to Paws in early January of this year, because I noticed that he had been lethargic, sleeping a lot, had dry skin and did not want to eat. I had found and removed two ticks on him a week apart and I also found a lump on the side of his rib cage area. He is normally an extremely curious and playful dog, but was not his usual self. I took him Paws to see what was going on with him. Dr. Keenan was very polite and seemed genuine. He did not think the lump was anything serious and said he may have some food allergies or possibly Valley Fever. He gave me the options regarding the cyst (i.e.-biopsy, surgery) and also gave me options regarding what could help his skin (i.e.-EPA vitamins, such as fish oil). He also did a blood test for tick born diseases. I got the results right away and they were negative. About two weeks later, after changing his food and giving my dog the vitamin and noticing that the cyst had not changed and that he still was not eating, seemed very lethargic, and was wheezing from time to time, I took him back. This time, Dr. Keenan said we should test for Valley Fever and then take it from there. His assistant took my dog's temperature in his ear and no one seemed concerned. He said I could do x-rays, but they would have to ship those out for a radiologist to read and it would take a few days. A day later, my friend was watching my dog while I was away on a work trip and he ended up taking my dog to a different vet (Desert Cross Veterinary Hospital) where he lives in Thatcher, Az. He said he knew something was wrong, because he was not himself (same symptoms mentioned above). The vet at Desert Cross took his temperature rectally, not in his ear as was done at PAWS. His temperature was 105 (high fever for a dog). The vet also said she suspected Valley Fever as well, but would do an x-ray of his lungs (free of charge), because she could hear that he did not sound well. She did the x-ray there and read it there that same day. It did not need to be sent to a radiologist like PAWS did. She said she was 99% sure he had Valley Fever, plus he had a secondary lung infection. She kept my dog for 2 days and administered Intravenous anti-biotics and 2 days later when PAWS had the results of the test confirming Valley Fever, she prescribed medication for this, but she had already started treating him for it after she had done the x-ray and was treating him for the fever. She looked at the results, which we had faxed from PAWS and also saw his Thyroid was not functioning well. She prescribed medicine for that also. My dog is now on the road to recovery and it only costed $600 and one visit with her. All of her fees were dramatically less than what PAWS charged me ($350) in two visits and did not do much for my very sick dog. PAWS even told me the x-ray would be an additional $300 with them and would need to be sent out. PAWS estimates were off the charts for their services. Dr. Chapman did that for free and read the x-ray herself that same day! She knew I had already spent a few hundred dollars at PAWS and did not receive help for my very sick dog. I will drive 2 hours from now on to take my dog back to Dr. Chapman in Thatcher. PAWS over charges and does not deliver. It seems to me that money is more of a concern to them than actually doing what they can to keep Pets well. By the way, the vet, Dr. Debbie Chapman, in Thatcher also took a biopsy of the lump. I'm still waiting on the result of that. FREE OF CHARGE. She truly cares about helping animals and is not more concerned with money. PAWS is NOT worth it. Their politeness and nice facility does not pay off when you leave a few hundred dollars short and still have a sick dog on your hands with nothing to help him. read more

PAWS' front end staff is not only friendly, they know all about my partially-paralyzed tabby guy, Tuxy, even with all the many, many cats, dogs, & ? coming through the door! (Of course he is very cute, and the wheeled, open-top red cart he rides in makes him even more memorable.) Dr Julie Mayer's expertise, dedication & patience are awesome. She has used a variety of approaches, including acupuncture & more, now the underwater treadmill, to help my still reasonably energetic 17 year old furry purry. (Well, he was furry until he was shorn for summer comfort.) He did almost 20 minutes on 7/9 ~ who says cats hate water? I must also express our appreciation for all the very nice and caring interns, 2 of whom came all the way from Brazil!, and especially Tuxy's good buddy, Jason. Plus, the building environment is all natural desert-related materials, contemporary flowing light-filled dramatic spaces and geometric shapes, with a lovely water-garden front patio, a big, open but private side yard & shaded patio (where the tank & treadmill are located), and spectacular view of the Finger Rock area formations from the central work area. Naturally, prices could always be more user-friendly, but on balance... Tuxy LOVES going to see Dr Julie at PAWS for his "swimming" practice! read more

I was referred to PAWS by a colleague because my dog was having an issue but I was hesitant to bring her to our current vet because my dog does NOT like going there and experiences such anxiety for a day or two after. My colleague explained that PAWS is integrative in their care and treatment and that she really likes the environment and everyone who works there. We were greeted so warmly by Lisa at the front desk for starters and when David came to get us, he was gentle and sweet with my dog and did not insist that my dog come to him, or even look at him, and waited until the dog was ready to approach her. Dr. Cammidge was just as warm and sensitive with the dog, sitting on the floor (as I was) to let my nervous Boston Terrier warm up to her. She was respectful in her communication to my daughter and me about our dog's condition and explained the issue in layman's terms. She was honest but respectful in explaining what not taking care of our dog's teeth has resulted in without making me feel guilty or stupid. My colleague had alerted me that it could be a bit pricey here, I found it comparable to my prior vet, but much more friendly to my family, which includes my dog! Thank you to this staff. And even though it is at the other end of town from us, we'll be back with this dog and her brother! read more

Being new to town I was referred to PAWS by a family member. I was thoroughly impressed with the facility and staff. We went in to have a local vet in case of any issues with our dogs and to get tested/Rx for heart worm meds which was not something we needed in S. CA. It was a great overall experience. read more

PAWS is amazing. We decided to try alternative medicine rather than surgery when Stanley tore his CCL. The staff is so caring and thorough. They spent 2 hours with us the first appointment. And the comfort room is so nice for the pups. No anxiety about going to the vet here. I drive all the way from Vail just to go to PAWS. And you might think by the location and beautiful building that they would be super expensive, but I found their pricing on meds to be the same as buying it online. PAWS is the worst clinic I have been to. Last time I took my dog in, they charged $1000 for the tests. According to my research three of the tests were way overpriced. I told the owner of the clinic he was price gouging!!! If you are rich and really do not care about throwing money away then by all means go there and get ripped off!!! I have since gone back to Northwest Pet Clinic which is very reasonable and I got fantastic service!! read more

Visited June 1st with my spouses little dog. When I get the attitude that they didn't appreciate me not buying $377 worth of treatment and supplements because I suggested that I talk it over with the dog's owner, I rethink my attitude about whomever I am dealing with. I asked several times for a copy of treatment plan to include costs and specific items to purchase, was told "It's in the sheets I gave you" only to find out later, NOT, I tend to take a dim view of what happened. Veterinary advice was the standard speel I've heard other places, so nothing new in that respect, unfortunately. Some naturalist advice thrown in about what foods the dog should be eating. I wonder how our animals managed to survive without $35 worth of mushroom supplements, $30 bottles of "buffered" vitamin C, and so forth. And the office visit itself was a third more expensive than our old vet. I must be getting old... read more

Moving to Tucson from the East coast with my dog Hermie was a big deal for us both. Finding the right vet was an even bigger deal and quite nerve racking. For most animal owners, their pet is not just a pet, it's a family member, and we want the best care possible for our four legged kids. I found PAWS online and the website impressed me, along with the fact that they also do other holistic therapies like acupuncture and water therapy. My first visit was great. Not only is the facility beautiful and clean, but the staff were AMAZING. The girls at the front desk were so kind, so empathetic, and so upbeat. Amber and Steph are always there to greet you with a genuine smile, offering support and concern everytime we visited. Dr. Halstead made me feel so safe and comfortable with my decisions concerning my dog. I spent countless days calling her and talking with her, crying to her, desperate for answers, and everytime she gave me her all, and I could tell that she truly cared about not only my dog, but also me. I can't say enough good things about PAWS. I feel so grateful to have had such a good support team behind me throughout the last year of Hermie's life. I never felt pressured to go in for an office visit, never was I pressured to buy meds or supplements, and I could always depend on a call back that day from Dr. Halstead, with advice, opinions, and support. I am blown away by the amount of extra work the Dr's and staff take on-their follow up calls, their letters of support and concern, it's truly inspiring. If only all those who call themselves "vets" could have an ounce of the love and compassion that the PAWS staff has, the world would be a better place. I took my dog to Paws from 2010 to 2013. My dog was misdiagnosed and declining rapidly. I had to go to Specialty Vet where my dog was properly diagnosed with valley fever. Not good. Also, services are over-priced and a lot of expensive procedures are pushed that do not aid diagnoses. I now go to Northwest Pet Clinic where things are much better. read more

This is a great veterinary however, it depends what vet you get. I had to go for a visit to check a small growth and the vet realized my dogs nails were long. He goes to the dog groomer every few months and he is almost due for a visit. She clipped his nails and they charged me almost $20. To make matters worse, she tries showing me pictures of what the growth looked like before my dog chewed it off, but I tried explaining that it did not look like any of the pictures. But why listen to me, what do I know. My advise is to make an appointment with the Drs you know will make you and your dog happy! read more

Paws has the best Veterinary care I've ever experienced. My cat, Sparky, has been to see Dr. Keaner numerous times and I was surprised at his first visit just how much time and how thorough Dr. Keaner was with Sparky. We went through Sparky's entire history, diet, behavior and all my concerns. I feel that he really cares about his patients and their guardians. The Dr. is always warm, gentle and kind with both my cat and myself. On a subsequent visit, for a dental procedure, I received a text and a photo of my cat post procedure to let me know Sparky was out of anesthesia and doing well. They seem to understand so well how to address all the concerns of pet parents! I've always been given detailed explanations of what is needed or what is optional in the care of my cat and why. They truly treat their patients with the same care and attention to detail as if it was their very own pets! I will never bring my pets to any other clinic and rave about them to my family and friends. I feel nothing but pure trust in Dr. Keaner and all the warm, kind and intelligent people that work at Paws! read more

What a disappointment !!! I am truely so sad over this office. WE took our little girl in on 1/12/18 she has Addison's disease so she gets shots monthly to help her disease. We have been with prior vets for many years but they moved really far for us. So we researched all the Vets in town and this place had the best reviews. Sadie Mae is very comfortable with the staff there. I have to say they are very nice and very good with her. But we asked to Dr Jo for a quote on her vial for her Percotner -V she quoted us $400.00 hahah not i got a vial for $274.00 and on line i can order for $161.00 .. She refused to get us a prescription when we went in on 1/12/18, her reasoning was that it will go bad. What??? Do you think we are stupid our other vial gave us at 7 injections. She wont help us and just wants us to continue to go there every month for $80.00 to give her shot. We were giving her the shot our selves. Our other Vets helped us out they knew how expensive it is. Not this lady!! And i know for a fact the Medical Ethics for Veterinarians that they can not refuse a prescription. I will be reporting her. And we will not be back that's for sure. read more

I live in Scottsdale Arizona and have been bring my cats down to Paws for their medical needs for about 5 years. The service and staff have always been 5 stars but this time went above and beyond even that! My cat was there for dental surgery which was also causing other medical problems for him. When we were leaving and in the car I made a mistake which resulted in him getting out of the car.. not good at all. When alerted to my problem, six of the Paws techs came out and worked together to finally catch him and keep him from running into rush hour traffic. No easy thing when someone had to wiggle into a drainage ditch, chase him through bushes, and lay on asphalt all at 106 degrees. They took him inside and cooled him down until they were confident he was okay. So if you are looking for a place with Vets who really know how to care for your animals and staff willing to do what it takes, this is it! read more

The absolute nicest vet office that I have ever been to! I felt like my dog and I were going to a day spa. I believe that when you walk in first impressions are important... it gives you an idea of how things probably run behind the scenes. Very clean and organized, wonderfully inviting, and I especially like the touch of the Keurig coffee ;) Waited less than 5 minutes to be taken into a room for our appointment. Our vet tech was Carol, who was very warm and sincere. She was very thorough in her questioning and explanations. Dr Aronson was our vet, who was also very sincere and knowledgeable. He was very detailed in his explanations and recommendations, which made me feel very comfortable. Absolutely loved the hand out that summarized everything, I never would have remembered all of it on my own! Prices are a little more than I have paid at previous non-integrative vets, but I also feel like my dog got a much better quality of care here. It is very refreshing to be offered healthier alternatives for my dog, rather than stuffing her full of medication. At the end of the appointment, Carol went over the estimate and all of the notes from the visit to make sure it was clear. And gave me a business card to call her if I had any questions for her or the doctor. I ended up calling the next day and leaving a message regarding the dog food that was recommended. She replied within the hour and got an answer from the doctor. Very pleased with the whole experience! read more
