I was in true need today trying to get my beloved Beauceron to her veterinary appointment. She's 120 pounds of sheer stubborn. Lol. Truth. I tried for 45 minutes to load my K9 into my car and she decided she was NOT GOING. I have never experienced this with my dog. I called the veterinary to let them know I couldn't get my dog into my car. They recommended I call Paws& Claws NV. They sent me a link and they were at my home within 35 minutes. This was a total cold call. They came and of course my dog was excited to meet new friends so she got up. Kenneth & Emery came and actually picked up my poor dog and put them into their dog/cat ambulance. My dog peed in their vehicle because she was scared but they had no problem and were not upset with me more so, they were not upset with my elderly dog. I'm physically unable to do what I used to and to have these people come and pick up my stubborn K9. . The pure guilt I feel for not being able to transport the most loved breathing critter in my life fills me with guilt. This duo of angels were here to help in our time of greatest need. I love my dog so much but am physically unable to get her out of this house because of her ailments and my own. The ambulance was pretty, clean the couple of handlers were all smiles and seriously could not have been nicer. I will always call them from now on and I I'm sure thankful they were available today. I can just make an appointment with them the same time I make an appointment for the love of my life, my sweet rescue dog. Don't hesitate to call paws & Claws NV. I cannot say enough about Athena's first overnight stay at Paws 'n Claws. She is unable to stand or walk, so finding a place willing to work with her different abilities isn't easy. She came home happy, clean, and was (reportedly!) well behaved. Having a private individual indoor/outdoor access kennel we could bring her bed, toys and food to, was critical to the success of that visit. It's been 10 years since my first review so I guess it's time for an update! I've been boarding my (now) two cats at Paws n Claws for a really long time, and I'm always happy with the service. Look, no cat I know of likes to be boarded, mine especially, but sometimes it has to be done. Paws n Claws makes the experience of boarding them the best it can possibly be. Of course it's not home, but they love and care for my cats like I do and that really matters to me. I can drop them off and go out of town and be confident that they are safe and fed and played with, which is one less thing I have to worry about while I'm gone. I have moved and miss this place and the amazing, friendly people who work here. My dogs started staying there as well as getting groomed in 2009 and we used them until I moved last year. They were like my dogs second home as I did travel a bit and my pups always went off happily with whoever came out to take them back. The prices are ext fair and the care more than you pay. Just moved to this neighborhood and this groomer was very close so I thought I would give them a try. First issue I had was when I went to pay the bill, the total was $80 and I brought $100 bill. Being that it was the first visit, I didn't know they didn't accept $100 bills so they made me leave and go to the store to make change (I didn't bring my wallet). Kind of hard to believe they didn't have a $20 bill in the till - but ok... I work nights so when I got home, I got ready for work. When I got home the next morning at 5:00 AM I noticed hard spots on Cinnamons ear when I was petting her. Upon closer look it was blood that had dried and it was on both ears. I called the groomer the next morning and questioned why I wasn't notified that my dog had been cut. The receptionist asked the groomer if she remembered nicking my dog and she responded no. I asked for the owner to call me. The owner finally called back a few hours later and I explained the situation and she said that the groomer did not cut my dogs ears that my dog must have been scratching them. I told her that the dog was not scratching her ears at all and let's just say that the owner was less than helpful. She then made it sound like it was because of the change issue at the front desk that I was calling and making a complaint. I then informed her that I would clean my dogs ears very well and see what's underneath it that's causing the bleeding. I hadn't tried to clean it prior to that because I figured they would want me to bring her in. On cleaning the ears it was very clear that the ears were nicked on the ends of each ear. I understand that mistakes happen, but to completely deny it and not to be told about it is completely unacceptable. I will be taking my dog to MY vet to be checked out. read more

We have a shih tzu we inherited with my mother-in-law's sudden passing a couple of years ago. We love to travel and originally kept our loving pooch at the animal hospital in town that my mother-in-law used. Sergio would be put in a small cage on a shelf. They had no green area to walk a dog at which, in the summer in Vegas can be a problem with the heat of the black top and concrete. Also, and maybe this sounds picky, but it used to take 10-15 minutes to check our dog in as well as pick him up. There always seemed to be somebody new at the desk and taking our dog back to the kennel area. We decided to try a new "fancy" boarder which bragged about TVs in the larger cages. This sounds terrible and very superficial, but we didn't like the family that ran that place. They just seemed to try to fill you with b.s. and had an arrogant edge. The pricing was high and I couldn't justify spending $12 for a 30-minute tummy rub (well, unless it was put on video). We called a couple more boarding facilities which just had this desire to sell you every service known to mankind in addition to 30-minute tummy rubs. You felt like you were being sold a time-share unit. My wife originally didn't want to call or visit Paws 'n Claws because of its location, east of I-95 near Boulder Highway. I ignored her advice and called Paws 'n Claws. I spoke with Donna, who turns out is the owner. She didn't brag about spa-like treatments or the ability to watch my dog by Skype 24 hours a day. (I know what our dog looks like sleeping). Instead, she quoted a good price, not great, but not objectionable. She said our pet had to be current on its shots and told us to come over for a visit. The building is not new, but it's a pet boarding business. It has a large grass lot attached to it for large dogs to play in and a small covered area for small dogs to play in. They have an inside area and a run which goes outside. Instead of a small cage, our pet has about a 12-foot long area and his cage is next to other dog's cages for socializing. The owners live upstairs above the kennel area. It is a true family business with their daughter also working there. What is so nice is they like animals, it is very obvious their affection for their guests. A family member is always there, as compared to a part-time 17-year old. (nothing against 17-year olds) No longer does Sergio drop his tail as he begrudgingly walks to the cages at the animal hospital. He comes into Paws 'n Claws with his tail wagging and has no issue going back to the kennel area. We feel like our beloved pet is in the hands of people who care and will treat him very well. read more

I've boarded my animals at Paws n Claws three to four times. After my animals both got sick while being boarded there from 7/3/15 to 7/6/15, I will NEVER trust them with my pets again. I take my two dogs there, one small Pekingese and one large Plummer Terrier. They both get boarded in separate areas: large dog area and small dog area. Two days after picking my dogs up I notice that both of them have really bad infections on their testicles. So I called Paws and claws today and spoke with the owner. I was not calling for a refund or to make any accusations. My main reason for calling was to find out if any other dogs have had the same reaction and also to get their opinion on what it could be. I explained to her that my 14 year old Pekingese, who WAS NOT boarded there, was fine. Only my two dogs that were boarded at paws and claws had the same infection. The owner was very defensive over the phone, she said that it's nothing that they did and my dogs didn't catch anything while they were there. She suggested that obsessive licking due to stress while they were kenneled, may have caused this irritation. I offered to send her pictures of the infected area and she told me that there's no point. She recommended me to E-collar my dogs and treat with antibiotic ointment. I immediately took my dogs to the vet today after speaking with the owner of paws and claws. My dogs were both diagnosed with Scrotal Dermatitis. I've been using the same veterinarian for four years and trust their diagnosis. I told the Vet the events that had transpired with paws and claws and what the owner suggested was wrong with my dogs. My vet totally disagreed! The Vet said my dogs were exposed to harsh chemicals/disinfectants, more than likely used to clean the surfaces where the animals sleep and live while being boarded. People need to be WARNED before boarding their animals there. These types of chemicals can be fatal to smaller dogs and cause infections in more than just one area. My dogs are now on two weeks of antibiotics, wearing E-Collars, and received steroid shots for the pain and inflammation. I also sent an E-mail to paws and claws informing them of these issues/Vet Diagnosis so that no other dog gets sick the way mine have. On July 3, 2015 when I dropped off my dogs, I asked the cashier/assistant if I could go back into the kennel area to check the temperature. She told me that customers are not allowed back there on the holiday. I explained to her that I was concerned about the heat and wanted to make sure the AC was a cool enough environment for my large senior dog and my Pekingese. She allowed me to walk back there "really fast", literally for three seconds. The area was cool and dark so I felt it was safe to leave my dogs there. I find it unsettling that pet owners are restricted from the boarding area. Please take caution before leaving your animals at paws and claws. read more

I took my two Shih-Tzu's to Paws n' Claws for grooming. I've had better. What I requested: Puppy cut for both dogs, body as short as possible, round heads, save little girl's eyelashes What I received: Short cut bodies, spotty uneven not-round heads, tails not trimmed(although i didn't specify, and assumed they would trim), ears unevenly cut, dusty dogs. Service: Very friendly front desk staff. They were on time with the dogs. Quality of groom was not that great (see above). The cut was done partially correctly but the dogs were not blown dry after or were allowed outside after. Not exactly sure the reason but I got dusty dogs back. Facility: Easy to find and access. Environment was not very nice in that you can hear all the animals barking and whining when you walk in. It is a boarding place but usually a good place is quiet no matter how many animals they have. Additionally, the animals sounded stressed with the amount of barking, yelping, and whining. The standard for a 5 star groom is a clean, calm facility, friendly staff, and clean, well-cut doggies at the end. I only experienced 1 of 3 (friendly professional staff). read more

Amber who is the manager is also fantastic she is very professional yet very caring about all of our four-legged friends.
