STOP BUYING PETS FROM PETLAND!…read more I would strongly caution anyone considering purchasing a puppy from this store to seriously rethink that decision and do independent research first. Large retail pet chains like this have been repeatedly criticized by animal welfare organizations and veterinarians for sourcing puppies from high-volume commercial breeding operations, often referred to as "puppy mills." These facilities are widely reported to prioritize profit over proper breeding standards, socialization, and long-term health. Keeping young puppies--especially small, sensitive breeds like Yorkies and Chihuahuas--in a high-traffic retail environment can put them at increased risk for stress-related illnesses such as kennel cough and other infections. Many new owners are not fully prepared for the emotional and financial burden that can come with this. There are also concerning reports and firsthand accounts online from former employees across similar stores describing issues with animal care, oversight, and sales practices that prioritize moving puppies quickly. I encourage anyone reading this to look into those accounts themselves rather than taking a sales pitch at face value. At the end of the day, this is a business model built around selling living animals at extremely high prices. That alone should raise questions about where these puppies come from and how they are treated before they ever reach the store. Please consider adopting from a shelter or working with a reputable, transparent breeder instead. Doing your homework now can prevent heartbreak later--and helps avoid supporting systems that many experts have raised serious ethical concerns about.

worst experience EVER these incompetent, inexperienced so called groomers shaved my dog to bare…read morebones stating that he was matted. Funny enough he was matted only on parts of the body but not ears or head??? When asked to see pics if hair they couldn't show me. When speaking with them on the phone they said his back legs and but was matted. Then was told that they had to shave it down for a more uniform cut When dropped off was told that he would still have a little fluff but was matted. Was he really matted or not was my question and where? The answer changed every time. I feel as if this was a money grab. Was told $71 then upcharged to $107 due to supposedly being matted. Talk to the manager otp who also stated that he was matted on parts of his body, then when I told her that someone else said on his legs she said that they had to get a uniform cut. They left long pieces of hair on his nose. I feel like they messed up on the cut and just shaved him. For a matted dog he was still able to have a fluffy head. This is bad business and horrible. If his usual groomer would have not been out sick I would have went there. Big mistake on my part. I will spread this to EVERYONE I know, post on social media, and anywhere else I can to let people know! PETCO IS HORRIBLE!!!!
