She neglected or refused to give stuffed animals to Ronald McDonald House and Shriners among other charities that normally receive stuffed animals from PetSmart every year. This has been an ongoing problem with this manager for several years and now she's continued to ruin Christmas for young children boys and girls in Columbus and surrounding area. I called the supervisor and home office and reported her but they don't even bother to return a phone call or leave a message. Is truly a shame that a city the size of Columbus has to put up with the manager like this. I usually take my dog to his original groomer with no problems but they were booked I decided to take him to PetSmart for the first time and give them a try... reminder that his original groomer ALWAYS finishes his shave down completely with no problems whatsoever because they are always gentle.. I took him here and he got his haircut by Katie and they did not finish his shave down. They took forever just for me to call and then they tell me they could only finish half of his body.. claimed he was aggressive but his original groomer has never said anything about him being aggressive.. if he was I paid $43 instead of $52 for a ugly cut when I should've been charged way less and now I got to pay extra to take him to his ORIGINAL groomer.. I learned my lesson.. with the ugly haircut I shouldn't have paid $43 at all.. and he still stink like they never gave him a shower... and if he was aggressive that means they weren't handling him right..DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE espicially to her read more

If I had the option for NO STARS, it would be too many. I took my Yorkie in for grooming with Trey. I had heard he was good, and I was looking for a new groomer, so I thought I'd give him a try. My appointment was at 12:30 and I was on time (even though the ticket he gave me said 1:30). He said she would be ready by the time I returned at 5:30. When I walked in some other girl was "helping him". I guess he overbooked because he was in the back with another dog. She was cutting her back legs for him. He finally came out to finish her after I had arrived. My dog was a nervous wreck. She managed to work her way out of the neck harness and fell off the table. He managed to catch her before she hit the floor. He immediately called for a manager. They decided to ask me to sit outside so maybe she would calm down. That didn't work, so he asked me to bring her back the next day. I work so I had to bring her back over the following weekend. He then said he forgot he was supposed to get off earlier than he had told me, so he had yet another girl working on her. I took her there to be groomed by him, not these other girls. They once again asked me to sit outside. It didn't appear they had cut her nails or tipped her ears. They cut her face way shorter than normal not allowing me to even have enough hair to put up with her bows. Even with the few discounts he was allowed to give me, I paid way too much. I will never even shop there again and sure will not EVER go back to the grooming area. No animal deserves to go for a spa day and come out shaking. She was a nervous wreck!!! read more

I took both my dogs to get groomed, which is not inexpensive. I told them I would like them shorter than normal but not shaved, ears and glands cleaned, you know the basics. They STINK still, ears look the exact same, they didn't even trim the hair around them! Right when I got them into the car and closed the door I could instantly smell they were not clean. One of them released their glands (which if they have been cleaned will smell less like death than normal) it was awful! Take your money elsewhere. DO YOUR RESEARCH!!! Look up ADV in bearded dragons before you risk buying one from here. They make you sign an agreement that if the pet dies in 14 days you get your money back or if you notice it's sick in this time frame you can bring it back so they can have it treated by a vet. The contract also states if it gets better you can repurchase it. They will take your number down and say they can't guarantee he will make it, but will call you either way to let you know. Then someone else will tell you it's just first come first serve *IF* they do get better and they will just put them back in with the other dragons. Against my better judgment I bought a bearded dragon from here a few weeks ago and noticed it was having some weird breathing issues once getting it home. If you're an inexperienced person you would probably look at him quickly and think nothing is wrong since he still "looks" pretty "healthy" and when I brought him back he was moving around fine in the carrier. Being in the veterinary industry myself I would have rather just taken it to the vet, but I called all the ones around (even 2.5 hours away ) and the exotic vet was booked out for 3 weeks. The exotic vet clinic actually mentioned I should look at the contract and since it's sick Petsmart should treat it. Since he kept getting worse (lethargic, inappetent, breathing issues, weird posture) I thought the best option would be to bring him back so he could get the proper care since Petsmart assured me he would he sent away and treated by a vet. When we arrived It was a different lady and she told me they treat them and just put them back in with the others if they better, but since I talked to someone else she would take my number down. When we brought him over to the table I saw another contract from a different customer that said their bearded dragon had died ...They never called me to let me know anything and it had been 2 weeks so we went back and noticed one that looked just like ours hiding under the log(the coloring on his back was different then some of other others) and I joked and said oh that's probably him, then within 1 minute of looking at him he did the same weird breathing/ coughing thing TWICE! It's now in a cage with about 5 other lizards. Hoping for the best we called when we got home and asked for an update and they said well there isn't any out back in isolation so "it either died or they put it back on the floor." So thank you Petsmart for not calling me and letting me know and if that truly is him, thanks for putting him back in with other lizards to get sick or get them sick. Please everyone do your research!! Bearded dragons can carry ADV which is very contagious and deadly and any lizards in the cage with them will usually contract it and die or have serious health issues. I will never know if this was just a URI or something more serious like ADV since petsmart never even called me with an update. I will NEVER step foot back in that store. I sprayed down my cage with f10 veterinary disinfectant and also threw out a bunch of stuff just to be safe. Idk what management does here, but I know multiple people who have had their pets taken back to different Petsmarts and they were treated and called back to alert the owner they were ready to be picked up or if they didn't make it. Even if he truly did see a vet I would never want to buy from a place that gets an animal treated then puts them right back in the same environment just to get reinfected or infected with something else!! Also for the record I have multiple reptiles and I've never had one die unless It was from old age!! I have all the heating, UVB, calcium, etc so this was sold sick, not from husbandry issues. I took my long haired cat in for a grooming because she was matted. I had given her a bath & did not dry her immediately, which resulted in the matting. I am a first time cat owner & do not abuse my cats, which is why I brought in my cat so she could be shaved. I was met with disrespect & accusations by the workers. When I came back to pick up my cat, I saw the employees taking pictures & joking around about my cat. I wonder what the purpose of the pictures were because they weren't shown to me? They didn't stop until they noticed me. When I let my cat out of her carrier, she had matted fur hanging off of her & was 30% shaved. read more

I took my 9 month old German Shepherd, Stella to the pet smart grooming center. I was going to be charged $72 for the FURminator plus package. When dropping her off, I let them know up front that she hated being bathed. Nonetheless they seemed confident in being able to meet my needs for her. About an hour later, they called me and said they were sorry but they were unable to grind her nails, blow dry and use the FURminator deshedding tool because she was too scared of the noises and they didn't want to cause anymore stress on her. I agreed because of course nobody wants to put their fur baby in stressful situations. When I went to pick her up, they apologized again for not being able to perform all of the requested services. I told them no worries as they handed me the bill. Went to the cashier to pay and the total came up to.... $72!! They would not downgrade my package to the basic package that would have been Half the price bc of the shampoo/dip they did. Reluctantly I paid because my dog was litterally crying to get out. She came out damp (to be expected tho bc of the no blow dry). My car now has wet Stella hair all in the interior and she smells like she had a bath in the chattahoochie river. Looking back at the details of the package I paid for she was shampooed/dipped, nails clipped and ears cleaned. I'm sure that the shampoo/dip works fine but the biggest role in the deshedding process is the 20 minute brushing with the deshedder itself, that was not done. I feel like I shouldn't have been charged for a key service that was not done! Ultimately, I gave them 2 stars because I got her back in one piece and her ears are clean. read more

Grooming department is hit or miss. My dog was shaved! Her ears are horrible. She's supposed to have length to her hair and waves but it's all gone! They charged me $85 for "30 minutes of ear brushing, clipping, and shaving" it didn't take them 10 minutes to shave her ears. I didn't want them shaved. Granted they were bad, but not that horrible!!! I will NEVER go back! read more

I love this store! We take our puppy Finley to training classes every week and take him to the groomer too. The staff are attentive and work very hard. Pets are welcome, just make sure to clean up after them. Downside is that on weekends it is FILLED with animals, which can overwhelm some dogs, but it's a good opportunity to socialize puppies with other dogs. Also, their phone can sometimes ring unanswered, which I'm not a huge fan of. But whenever I walk in I always get the help I need. read more

in the last week I would have kept it blank with no stars if I had an option. I did not think to post a review for the grooming salon when the incident took place a few months ago. However, in my recent interaction with Petsmart just a few moments ago over the phone I felt compelled to do so because it is my responsibility for all pet owners to know how I was treated then and just now. A little back story: I used to send my baby to see Amanda (who has since left to NC this past Dec) and I simply adored her because she was always a pleasure to communicate with every single time I went into Petsmart. When Amanda was not available I would go to her Salon Manager Jamie who also was a breath of fresh air. I cannot tell you a time that I have ever had an issue with either one of these ladies. Always consummate professionals, prompt & polite. If there was a discrepancy with my babies hair, it would get addressed with a smile. I understand that noone is perfect but I appreciate professionalism and great customer service! Now let me speed up the story line... A few months ago I had an appt with a lady named Tiffany whose known as one of the most "seasoned groomers" there that handles poodles in particular. I explained what my expectations were along with showing previous pictures since she never cut my babies hair before. Instead of appreciating the fact that I would go to such great lengths to help with the process, she was rude and reminded me of her "experience" in grooming and that this wasn't her first time grooming a poodle. Moving ahead: When I came later on in the afternoon and picked my baby up she looked awful! I was teary eyed because Tiffany messed her hair up so bad that they had to cut more hair to fix it where you could see her skin now. There were two store managers (male and female) (unfortunately that was the one day Jamie was not at work) that came out to hear and see what my grievance was about. They both told me that it looked deliberate and intentional as well. The reason why I felt a certain way was because when I initially came in to pick my baby up after I paid for the service. Tiffany did not bother to greet me nor did she come and tell me my baby was ready or how things went while in the process (which is a norm for when you come and pick up from grooming). She miraculously was "busy" in the back the whole time I was there but seemed to be free as soon as I left out the salon. Moving along to my phone just now: To find out now that when I called to schedule for Jamie to groom my babies hair that she is no longer there and they promoted Tiffany the most unprofessional and rude associate to a manager. I ended up speaking with a store manager because the young girl who answered the phone didn't know what to say about recommending a groomer and I surely didn't want Tiffany to touch my babies hair so a female manager got on phone & rudely said to me: I see that Jamie did your pet's grooming.. She is at Dramatic Paws - you should go there! To me she was rude and very short with me because all I asked was for someone other than Tiffany to cut my babies hair?! This is UNACCEPTABLE behavior from any establishment! I will NOT return to Petsmart again. It has been my experience that some of Petsmart's employees severely lack the necessary people skills in order to be able to work in a customer service friendly environment. I will not allow myself to get agitated no more with this company again. read more

I took my toy poodle to be groomed here for years. As he got older, he got more uncomfortable with the process. Instead of working with us and him, they are hesitant to groom him at all. They cut his face and then blamed him for reacting negatively. They will shame the crap out of you if you are struggling to keep your pet's hair absolutely perfect. These people are rude to you, but most importantly, they are rude to your pet. read more

I have an elder great dane. Today I took her in for her bath and nail trimming. Got a call not 10 minutes after leaving the groomers and get a call. I was told she wasn't getting a bath today or her nails done because she wouldn't move. She's never done this before. I specifically told them they had to bring her back on her leash and not the little string one they use... they didn't listen. When I got back, my dog was on the floor with her legs spread every direction! A almost 8 year old great dane with already bad hips, and no one was doing anything to try and get her up! The technician that had her couldn't have cared less and you could see her frustration. Four stars for a petsmart, yes indeed. They keep the shelves well stocked and are always friendly to my ABDA Pitbull Terrier. Everybody wants to pet him and that makes me love this place that much more. One day I may even try out thier training courses. read more

I was trying to return an toy item today as I was told I could before I had purchased it as long as it was before 30 days.When I brought the item back the cashier smirk with an attitude and told me I could not return it because it had a small hole from my dog. ATTN: Read if you are MILITARY! First off, My husband and I have shopped at Petsmart since being stationed here in 2012. I would say we WERE loyal customers, buying our dog's food, treats and toys there, until recently we stopped. The associates never know what their policies are regarding returns and what-not. We were told we could return a toy with money back gaurantee, and did so a couple of times, but later someone else told us we could not. It was like everyone wasn't on the same page. Then I bought a shampoo and my dog's skin completely broke out from it after ONE use so I called to check the return policy and the manager told me they could not return it because I opened it. After explaining to her how my dog's skin broke out and I didn't like the idea of wasting my $10 on a shampoo I'm never going to use again, she told me I could get a store credit. I wasn't too happy with that answer because honestly I was already at the point of not wanting to shop there anymore. I think Petsmart brings in enough money to be able to return a shampoo that was barely used, or a toy that states it's for "Powerful Chewers" but yet my 14lb mini doxie tore through it in 5 minutes. Anyways, I started doing research on other Pet stores in town and decided to go to PetSupermarket off of Macon road next to Publix in the shopping center, and let me tell you, it is definitely a much smaller store, but the people who work there are SO friendly, helpful and pretty knowledgeable, plus the store is super clean and organized...unlike Petsmart where there is dog urine everywhere. Also they offer a MILITARY DISCOUNT if you spend at least $10. My first time shopping there the associate told me all about their V.I.P card, which gets you a FREE bag of dog food after you've purchased 9. And it's the BIG bag..whichever bag you are purchasing is what they send you in a voucher. Their prices are also cheaper than Petsmart AND they do PRICE MATCHING! I suggest you go there. Honestly I have not been dissapointed since starting to shop at PetSupermarket about 6 months ago. But let me get to the reason I am writing this review about Petsmart vs PetSupermarket. My husband and I were in the Petsmart area today and decided to just go in to check out their adoption event and our dog needed a new bone. After going in and dodging all the urine I was ready to check-out. We finally got up to the register and the girl had already rang up and bagged the bone without saying anything to us and tells me my total only. I asked her if they offered a military discount and this is what she said, "No. We already have too much military that comes in here." I looked at her and was thinking to myself "Did she just say they have too much military that come in here?" And I asked her why, and began to tell her that PetSupermarket offers a discount, and she put her hands up like I was stupid and rudely told me, "Well they don't have our sales". I said, Ok I don't want it then. And we walked away. I just couldn't believe the disrespect! She didn't have to say that. DO NOT GET YOUR DOG GROOMED HERE!!!!!!!! I took my dog here to get groomed; he's a large lab full grown. When I got there they said that it would cost $68 I was like ok and let them take my pet. The stylist told me that if he gets too stressed out that they would call me and tell me to go pick him up immediately. Well, later that day I got home with him and he had diarrhea bad and he was breathing real bad like it sounded like it was hard for him to breath and at one point he stopped breathing for 30-45 seconds and I put my hand on him and he looked at me and started breathing again but it scared me really bad and shook me up a bit. I took him to Rivertown Emergency 24 hour vet and they looked at him and said that he was extremely stressed out and dehydrated. So if you care about your dog don't bring him here please. And I will be talking to the General Manager and also calling the Corporate office. read more

I took my dog into Petsmart for the first time and was not happy. My dog barely turned one years old. He is very hyper and being at Petsmart for the first time made him act up. The employees here were rude! The cashier said "you want to sign up for classes" with a smug attitude. The staff at Petco are so much friendlier with my dog and my dog loves them. The people at Petsmart don't know how to act around dogs. I'm never going back here all the employees did was make my dog act up more with their attitudes. The staff should make animals feel comfortable in the store. I will stick to Petco where the employees actually like animals and enjoy being around them. read more
