If I could give them a minus zero I would do so...I never imagined being mistreated the way that I was mistreated just because I was interested in a particular puppy. On a Saturday I hurried to see the puppy because they do not like to answer their phones, I got their, spent time bonding with the puppy, fell in love because I've been looking for a puppy like this for long time due to my depression, anxiety and loneliness in my home. I had to retire early because of a illness called lupus struck my body, and I felt I needed a dog to get me through days, I'm very use to dogs because i grew up w/them. I went back Monday to adopt, the lady asked rudely did I put in my application, i told her twice, she acted like she couldn't find them, she then walked in the back where the dogs were, 10 min later she said with a smile the a lady in South Carolina paid for the puppy so its on hold until she can pick up. I asked her earlier before that if I paid for the puppy first could they keep her for a week until I return because I couldn't canceled my plane ticket, she hollered at me stating this not a boarding place, once you pay they have to leave so we can make room. But you kept this puppy for someone in South Carolina without even knowing when will they come???? I cried in my car all the way home because I really loved that puppy.

The place is run down. But I'm more than satisfied with my furever friend I found here. He's healthy, loving and everything I wanted in a best friend. We are literally attached at the heart. He's my best friend.

Notice Rosie's left arm. Surgery is today.

I was very reluctant to do this review but after the way I was treated by the director when I called regarding a very injured puppy a family member adopted and was lied to about, I no longer can stay quiet. The director has hung up on us and ignored voice mail and e mails requesting the puppies prior medical records. I cannot explain how someone who has been acknowledged as being a wonderful advocate for animals decides To ignore and neglect a puppy in her shelter. Please everyone beware. I know these animals need help but you cannot lie about medical conditions and expect unsuspecting young animal lovers to take on such a financial burden with no warning or information. The dog was adopted by a young couple who were told it was a birth defect. If only it was just a birth defect and no a neglected fracture All we asked the director to do was cooperate with us in getting the best care we can for the puppy. Her medical records could be very important to the surgeon but she has been so rude and dismissive to all of us. To read more go to Http://www.Gofundme.com/helpjaimee-dannyhelprosie.

Bluebelle on the day she was saved from euthanasia by Animal Ark in April 2018

This place has saved over 11,000 lives on a shoestring budget since 2012. Those animals have been saved from euthanasia. The available funds who solely come from donations are being spent on the animals not the building. The place is packed full of animals so their lives can be saved. Someone commented that it is run down, not realizing there is no money for fancy floors or sophisticated ventilation system. Any furniture you see is donated, used, or repurposed. I have fostered many dogs for Animal Ark and never had any problem. We as volunteers come together to save the animals. We sign a contract to be a foster. If the animal needs veterinary care, we contact the shelter. The contract states that if you take the dog to a vet you cannot be reimbursed. Fostering for Animal Ark has been a rewarding and fulfilling experience. "No Kill" is what Animal Ark is working for. It cannot do this without the support of the community.

Rosie is now home from surgery. She has a plate and pin in her arm and is going to require 3-6 months recovery confined in a crate.

Paws Humane - Human, I want a taste of what you're eating!

    Paws Humane

Negative -10 review these fuckers owe me stars…read more I've tried calling Paw Humane Society numerous times, and it is almost impossible to get anyone to pick up the phone or respond. No matter which line you try, there's never an answer. I even reached out about a stray dog that needed help, and nobody came out. It's extremely frustrating, especially considering the fact that they just had a big revamp and promote themselves heavily with events like "Bark for Blues" festivals to get dogs adopted. They clearly put effort into marketing, but when it comes to the basic responsibility of answering calls and helping the community, they are failing. This organization needs to get its priorities straight.

They always seem overworked and like they need more staff in the 10 or more years I've been going there, and they almost never answer their phones so it's very hard to ask questions or make an appointment. I wonder how many more people they could reach if they just answered their phones (clinic side especially, rescue side is a smidge better)?! Heck I'll do it, I'd even take minimum wage to do it. FYI they only take animals in from the Animal Control next door, so owner surrenders or found animals have to go through Animal Control. I found this kitten in Jason's Deli parking lot emaciated and missing an eye but mewing and coming up to us for help. We named him Ragetti and called the rescue to tell them how absolutely sweet he was, and they told us to surrender him to Animal Control then call them so they can pick him up. Animal Control said they would normally euthanize injured feral cats, but I insisted he was sweet to everyone and deserved a chance and stayed until PAWS picked him up! After they fixed his eye we visited him at the shelter as he gained weight so he would stay socialized and sweet, and he was adopted within a couple of weeks !

She neglected or refused to give stuffed animals to Ronald McDonald House and Shriners among other charities that normally receive stuffed animals from PetSmart every year. This has been an ongoing problem with this manager for several years and now she's continued to ruin Christmas for young children boys and girls in Columbus and surrounding area. I called the supervisor and home office and reported her but they don't even bother to return a phone call or leave a message. Is truly a shame that a city the size of Columbus has to put up with the manager like this. I recommend nobody ever shops this store so they don't have to deal with the disappointing attitude and unprofessional attitude of this manager.

I have a lot to say about Jerri's Pet Place. Our 12-year-old Shih Tzu Chloe passed away in November…read more2020. We were devastated and we were so lonely and missing our little dog. I saw Jerrie's Pet Place advertised in Fort Valley and called to see if she had any Shih Tzu puppies. She didn't but said to me she had a female who couldn't breed and had to be spayed because of an infection. Jerri didn't want to keep her so she said we could come and see her. We spent some time there trying to learn more about the dog. I asked her if she had her registration papers and the information on her surgery, and she assured us she had it all. She didn't give us the paperwork when we left she explained that she had to find it. We asked her name and she replied "Baby". We took her home and began to see what this poor little girl had been through. She was scared and submissive and would cower down when we tried to pick her up. She wouldn't drink water or eat and shook all of the time. We took her to the Vet and had her checked out. They agreed that Baby had been abused. I began to send Jerri emails about the paperwork, and what she drank out of all kinds of questions. One lie was told after another. She said she couldn't find the paperwork and the woman she got the dog from never gave it to her. This went on for about a week. I called the USDA and they explained they had to inspect her place a few times because she had over-the-limit dogs. I was also told that any dog in her possession that is a breeding dog must have paperwork and be registered. She didn't even know how old Baby was. After 3 months we noticed that Baby was having seizures. The vet said she had epilepsy and had to have been having seizures while under Jerrie's care. She was in a cage all of the time and no one noticed. About a year ago I read an article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the Human Society and the USDA were informed of the large number of dogs in Puppy Mills being housed and sold in numerous Breeding places. Jerris Pet Place was one of those places. She was running a puppy mill and no one knew it. She wouldn't let anyone see where she kept her puppies and their parents. I hope they continue to check on these places and stop them from selling dogs. Baby has been with us since November 15, 2020. She has a collapsed trachea and CHF and is on many medications but she is finally living the life. She has been all over the state camping with us and traveling and has never been put back into a cage. She is our loving little Shih Tzu and even though she has been through so much she is happy.
