Beautiful place with lots of different kennels in different areas for the size of the dog and someone there in that building 24 seven. The last time I used dog vacay and had to take her to a vet that day When I picked her up she was dehydrated and not responding to me or riding in car which she hates. So now we knew separation anxiety. Well she was just fine This time well fed and hydrated and very happy. Was a pain in the car. All was well. Lots of exercise in the day for her. So nice and friendly now I'm not afraid to go on a cruise with my daughter and enjoy it This place is beautiful and has lots of employees. They also send pics of dog which helps seeing them happy.

However, for his second haircut, it was completely the opposite of what was done the first time. They took him extremely short, like probably as short as you can. They practically removed his beard. Was not happy at all with how the second groom went. Was also disappointed on how they took the criticism. When we said we wanted our dog done like he was last time, we were told it wasn't the same person...do you not talk to each other? Would you not check prior to beginning? They also said "well it is summer"...does not mean you take artistic liberties on my dog. Who removes a beard from a schnauzer? We were hopeful for this place but cannot recommend based on our experience.

Knowing he likely had something going on with his anal gland and not wanting to drive to Memphis to see our vet I contacted DG of Hernando. They were booked solid but told me if I'd bring my dog in they'd work him in. Not only did they solve his issue with his gland, they trimmed his nails. He is an entirely new dog now. I've got nothing but nice things to say about people who went out of their way to help me out but also to take on a particularly "icky" job. I'm now thinking he may make visits just for his nails. Both times the employee was 10 minutes late and then didn't even immediately go get our dog. He started answering phones and getting on the computer. We were already paid up. They close at 5:00 pm. If that is the last time the dogs get out, that is 15 hours which is way too long for an animal to hold their pee. I tried to contact them but was ignored. It's obvious they don't care about your animals here, and they are overpriced at that, but I was willing to pay more, but since they treat dogs like that, I won't be back.

I've also used their boarding for my larger dogs. Their facilities are extremely clean and well-kept. I love that they don't use chain link. They have many different size runs, from small to very large and they have clear plexiglass doors to let in light. There is a fenced backyard for my dogs to play, and you can just tell that they love on each and every dog. When I take my dog for boarding, she runs straight for the back, she doesn't even say goodbye! I definitely recommend this business!

The prices are very reasonable too! They usually give me some at home grooming tips to do between grooms with them. I've taken my big husky pit mix in for a bath a brush out. The groomers always do such a great job of getting all his undercoat brushed out. I've also taken my long hair dachshund mix in for a full groom a couple times. Never had any problems. My dogs always come out super happy and smelling and looking great! I definitely trust them with my dogs.

She referred us to a local oncologist, who was (understandably) pricey. One of the many things our sweet cat needed was near-daily subcutaneous fluids, which are difficult to do. They allowed us to bring in our cat and his fluids bag, and they set up his drip for us free of charge. When we eventually lost him, they were incredibly supportive and kind. A couple years later, we ended up with a cat diagnosed with cancer (squamous-cell carcinoma) this time, and another who was FeLV-positive (from birth). Dr. Briggs was supportive of our decision to continue end-of-life compassion care for as long as their quality of life was maintained, and was more than willing to provide the appropriate prescriptions to manage their pain and other symptoms. She worked with the local compounding pharmacy to ensure we could get easily-administered liquid medications, so we wouldn't have to stress out our little ones with pills. When the time eventually came to say goodbye to each of those cats, Dr. Briggs made the time to be with us and compassionately administer the euthanasia drugs. She administers a sedative first, which allows for a more humane, restful passing. She and the staff at Southwind have been nearly as heartbroken as we were each time we lost a pet. Our other pets also love Southwind! We have one cat who has been incredibly healthy her whole life and only goes to the vet for her checkups, but because they are a Cat-Friendly practice, they understand how to manage her anxiety about the vet. Our dog LOVES going to the vet, and she always gets TONS of hugs, pets, and cuddles from Dr. Briggs and the technicians. We've seen Dr. Cooper and Dr. Mosely on occasion when Dr. Briggs has been unavailable, and we've had similar experiences with both of them. I thought they were a little expensive on the first visit, but this 2nd visit was very problematic. I took my dog for grooming. They originally said $45 for a puppy cut. So I scheduled. (For context, my regular groomer that came to my house was about $80.) Last night, they texted me asking for my rabies vax, which was done in another state. During my 1st vet visit, I had asked them to transfer the records, but I guess this wasn't done. Without the rabies vax, they wouldn't groom. So, I asked them to request records again, but if she wasn't up to date, I asked them to give her the vax. They wouldn't do a vax without a complete physical. I dropped my dog off and came home. As I was about to pull into my neighborhood, they called and said I needed to come back to sign a paper. So, I went back to sign. Then, they texted me an estimate for $248 (you can see from photo) for physical, bloodwork, all vaxes, and grooming. I said I didn't need blood work. So, they reduced the price to $205 (you can see from photo-but may need to click on it to see it fully). They later called and said my dog needed to be sedated to be groomed (never happened in the 3 years I've had her--she is tiny and has no teeth), and that they could only do a bath today. I went to pick her up, and they said that she was already up to date on rabies vax(!!) but gave me a TN tag. They first charged me $160. Then, when I asked about not needing the rabies and only getting a bath, she told me $210. I was stunned. How is it possible that I had to pay more for a bath with no rabies vax than a grooming with a rabies vax? And I had to pay for a physical when she already had her rabies vax, which they should have known from our first visit? So, basically, I woke up this morning thinking my dog would get a grooming for $45, but I left paying $205 for a bath, wasted time, and stress.

They were so good with our little cookie. Even though she ended up having to be put to sleep they were so kind and caring to her and respected us to in how they treated her. All the vet techs, vets and offices workers were so kind and caring. I want to thank them for all they did for cookie. You can't find any other place in this area that would have been so concerned about your pet. Its also a walk in clinic no appointments.
