If you're in the mood for BBQ while in the Shenandoah Valley, make sure you stop by PaveMint Smokin' Taphouse a bite to eat. Musts here include the wings (they are smoked and then fried!) and the combos (choose from a sandwich, tacos, or a plate) with your choice of meat (the chopped brisket was a hit). If you enjoy chicharron, you'll enjoy this appetizer here. Service was friendly, but a little slow (it was busy, though, and they seemed to be short staffed) so bring your patient. The food and drinks are worth the wait!

We planned to eat here based on a review that mentioned boozy shakes which they sadly don't do anymore, but their beer on tap selection was great. The pick your own alcohol drinks were good too. The food was pretty meh. Every single item we ordered was ice cold and we got there at 1130am. So they were open that long. The Mac and cheese was ok but again so cold I couldn't power through it to eat. The pulled pork and brisket were also fine but again cold. I had the potato salad and that the most delicious thing, it was supposed to be cold so there's that! Finally my husband had tater tots and they were well seasoned, but again even those cold.

PaveMint served up some excellent BBQ! The half rack of pork ribs were delicious, really well seasoned and super tender. There were plenty of options on the menu, including appetizers, sandwiches, platters, and even tacos. If you like meat, there's almost certainly something to keep you happy. Plus, they've got a fantastic beer list, with a number of different styles, and representation from both local and big-name breweries. The space itself screams "barbecue," especially the outdoor patio behind the restaurant. It's a great setup -- really open, with lots of picnic tables for group seating. It really feels like you're in a friend's backyard. The menu is a bit pricey, but you definitely get your money's worth in terms of hefty portions of quality meat. Really glad I found this spot during my time in the area!

This place is a hidden gem! Great indoor and outdoor seating with a small kiddie play area. Dog friendly patio. And THE BBQ IS SO GOOD!!! best bbq I have had in a very long time. The sausage is fantastic, the brisket and pulled pork are wow. The sides - all of them as great. Love this place! Our service was a little slow and the server seemed a bit overwhelmed but we enjoyed our time there anyways.

Good vibes overload! We were visiting from out of town and heard great things about this establishment. This gas station turned restaurant has so much outdoor seating and is super dog friendly. I think there was a dog birthday party when we visited, and our puppy was able to make friends there. There are little "greenhouses," an area for a fire pit and a bunch of picnic tables. We started out with the Mexican Street corn - which is white corn in lime crema, cilantro and spicy cheetos. The sweetness of the corn with the spice of the cheetos and the cheesy queso and rich crema were quite yummy. Not to mention such interesting textural contrasts to be super satisfying. Folks also raved about the polenta fries, so we had to give those a try. They were quite interesting! The filling is corn grit and had such an interesting chew and heartiness to them. I've never had anything like them before, and I recommend trying them out! (But I may get a side of potato fries next time, too.) My bacon onion jam burger was worth the hype! The patty was thick and mighty black angus with a generous spread of bacon onion jam with blue cheese. I was impressed by the strength of the buns that managed to keep the burger together despite its size without falling apart. Le hubby got the vino burger, and the red wine reduction on it was scrumptious as well. The beer list is great with delicious choices. Highly recommend making the stop here when you're in the area!

Burgers were yummy but come with no sides. Hubby enjoyed his beef brisket, it was juicy and flavorful without tasting greasy. He enjoyed the peach bourbon sauce with his sandwich. Smoked sausage was good but a little salty for my liking. Service was a little slow but servers were friendly. Would come again next time in the area.

Wow, what an amazing place! I had the brisket tacos, and they were out of this world. Some of the best tacos I've ever had. There was a consommé soup that is made from the drippings from the brisket, and used to dip the tacos in. Wow! They had a couple other sauces, but the consommé was so great I just kept using it to dip my tacos. We had pork rinds to start, with Old Bay seasoning. They were tasty, super fresh. We also had banana cream pie for dessert. My wife had a chopped salad with beef. This was actually our 27th wedding anniversary! If I come back, I am definitely getting these brisket tacos again. Really superb flavor. Five stars, no question. This place is a keeper!

In town to check out the area and PaveMint was right down the road. Parking was a little scarce - not a bad sign! Started with Mexican street corn which was good but a little small, then had pulled pork - wife had the sandwich and I had tacos. All was delicious!!

Driving through to Myrtle beach from NY and decided to give this place a try. Walked and told by a waitress to go to a booth, about half way there someone said you need to be seated. We told her the waitress told us to go there and she said oh I didn't realize. Sat down and told what beers they were out of so we ordered other items. Mine was out so I stuck with water. We ordered the pretzel for an app and then again told they were out. My husband ordered the tater tot dish which he said was good and my 6 year old enjoyed his grilled cheese. I got the pulled pork sandwich that was very dry but my husband enjoyed it. Mac and cheese was okay. All in all wouldn't return especially since our entire meal the bartender was yelling and complaining about one of the waitresses and it was unprofessional and definitely not what we wanted to hear after being in the car for 6 hours. I only gave it a third star because my son and husband said their meals were decent and our waitress did seem to be working really hard and was apologetic for being out of a lot of stuff.

After a weekend of hiking in Shenandoah, my husband and I were ready for a hearty meal on our way home to DC. We stopped into PaveMint Taphouse for a late Sunday lunch. The backyard was so adorably decorated for Halloween. They had a fake grave yard, ghosts in the trees, and a bone yard band area for live music. There was a musician singing and playing the guitar. Most of the tables were filled with customers. It was a very family-friendly environment. The restaurant is also dog-friendly. They even have a "pup menu." We ordered a beer, sweet tea and fried pickles to start. The sweet tea was delicious and reminded me of home. The fried pickles were very salty! I guess that is to be expected. I really liked the dipping sauce for the pickles. We also ordered food. I had the brunch potato hash with veggies, and my husband had the BOJ burger (bacon onion jam). The food took a very long time to come out. We did get a little impatient because we needed to get back on the road. But the food was good when it finally came. The burger was delicious. I thought the fries were good but my husband didn't like the fries. The potato breakfast hash was flavorful. Overall, the vibes at this place were great! Such a fun and friendly atmosphere. We would come back just for that. I recommend you check out PaveMint.

Came here after hiking in Shenandoah! We were so hungry that the food lasted 8 minutes on the table! It was so delicious and it came out fast. The bbq sauce was delicious. Other people at my table got chili and one pulled pork sandwich. All the food was great! Super cute and cozy diner vibe if that's something you're looking for!

Amazing food. Top 5 on our list of places in Virginia and around the nation. This place is in an old gas station and has the feel of the perfect bbq/brewery setting. Great food, friendly atmosphere, 20 beers on tap and a nicely stacked bar. Service was great despite the busy times(midday on a Saturday). They did not have brisket or ribs because they ran out. Regardless, the food was delicious!

I agree with others that it's somewhat set up like a Cracker Barrel - a combination of store and restaurant. There are three areas you can eat - outside on the patio, on the bar side (tons of seating of different variety- bench, seats, and couches), and the non-bar side (seating is less and a bit more tight). There's lots of interesting decor and history here. It seems like a nice place to hang out during the colder months when the fireplace gets going. Ordering was super quick and you don't have to sit on the side you ordered from. Just let them know where you will be at and they will come find you (listen for your number). I had the apple cider and I was pleasantly surprised. All the Apple cider I have had is non-alcoholic and I thought that was what I was drinking until my boyfriend set me straight. It was so yummy and I couldn't taste the alcohol at all (my kind of drink)! The ID check should have clued me in...but I thought it was because my boyfriend also ordered an alcoholic drink. My boyfriend ordered the Mushroom Swiss Burger with Mac & Cheese while I had the Brisket Grilled Cheese with Bacon Ranch Potato Salad. We also ordered a dozen Apple Butter. Everything tasted good and there was a decent amount of brisket in my sandwich. Even that I recommend letting some pieces with the bbq sauce mix in with the potato salad. It makes it even better! The donuts were good too, but I recommend taking them home and popping them into the microwave for a bit. Then put a scoop of coffee almond ice cream on it. All in all, I definitely wouldn't mind coming back here again after a hike.

The host and waitress were friendly, the waitress made multiple trips to our table to see if we were ready to order. It can get a little loud if it is packed. How was it...So far, the best Fish and chips I have had since moving here. Not greasy, good flavor light and flaky. Slaw was simple but good, the fries could have been warmer however overall I am happy with my meal and would order it again. Her burger came out with a tomato, seems it always does and people just don't listen and no mayo and spicy sauce.
