Although it was beyond hours, Susan greeted us, answered questions, and, in reality, comforted both of us. She also offered any help she could give to our situation. Indecision kept us busy for two more weeks, but decision made, we called her. She and a volunteer came on a Sunday and collected our surplus and our cat, taking time from her weekend to let us say goodbye, assuring his care, and thanking us for the privilege of being able to help. Fantastic, caring organization. We are indepted, and will be in their support list for a long time. If you are searching for a new furry friend, give them a call. You'll leave with a good feeling of meeting the people as well as the friend I hope you'll meet there and bring home.

West side: cat kennels -it was a horrible troubling experience…read more A lot of "volunteers" sitting around doing nothing while visitors are going around, lifting up blankets for privacy from cat kennels and petting the cats although each kennel has a sign. Petting cats from kennel to kennel. Which spreads illness!! I was not surprised by this behavior as I saw a man doing it, and he informed me that he was a volunteer and he knows what to do. I did not see him wash his hands after the encounter, and then other people saw him doing it and they started petting cats. Not a good example!!! Why aren't the volunteers going around helping spread information and helping. The staff is horrible. No one has incentive doesn't seem to care. The older male volunteer got confrontational and agitated. Maybe because he knew he was breaking the rules under the guise of being a volunteer. Showing poor behavior to other visitors.smh It was so unprofessional, but it's Pima county run. Seems like they need less volunteers clogging up the space and more people doing things. There is no reason it has to be so disorganized. We've been to the cat kennel multiple times over the years and it's always the same. A group of "volunteers" and employees congregated doing nothing. SMH We never decide to adopt there as it's so disorganized and unprofessional. Maybe one or two of the people work there (in blue?) but they are worthless. THE WORST SHELTER I HAVE EVER BEEN TOO. It's the people not necessarily the conditions (for cats) Follow up- went to the southern Tucson, Humane Society and it was a much better experience. Professional and organized. We were greeted by an older lady who was very friendly & very informative about this store. Once I heard her mention that a % of sales purchased goes towards taking care of the animals for adoption I just had to purchase something. I also saw a big table with homemade cat & dog treats and heard the lady telling a customer that a local lady makes them. I ended up buying a packet of cat treats for my boys & a package of chicken doggie treats for my Mom's dog. All the cats for adoption were so cute but I always feel bad for them being caged up. This place doesn't have your normal cages that you find in those pet stores in the mall. They were pretty neat, clean & looked well ventilated. There were two big dogs for adoption in their cages & 3 cute puppies in an enclosed place on the store floor. What I didn't like is that they had it so you're not able to pet them.....my guess is for liability issues & to keep customer's germs aways from them? Their adoption fee's are affordable too! Definitely think about coming here if you're thinking about adopting/rescuing a dog or cat. Friendly staff, well organized, clean store. No stinky smells here.

I have adopted numerous animals and always kept them all. We realized because the animals were not getting along, it would be best to return the dog so that she could get the family she deserved. The owner was extremely rude and angry. Seven months after I had written them a check, she cashed it. When I emailed her questioning why she waited, she belittled me and told me I broke the contract. She told me my dogs were the issue and proceeded to pick a fight. In the end I told her to keep her $$. Do not adopt little pets from this angry person. I hope she treats the pets better than she treats people. I have never encountered someone so angry and rude. She is extremely triggered and these little rescues deserve better.

I am someone who ADORES cats, the type of person that will take in a stray and rearrange my whole life to care for them until their last breath. My love is so great that it pains me to see these adoptable cats living in such an uninviting space. This shelter is open to the public one day a week for TWO HOURS. I thought it was an error when I saw that schedule online, but it's true. Upon entering, the building is flooded with adoptees, and for a cat lover you'd think that'd be a dream, but instead of excitement I felt a wave of anxiety. This shelter has dim lighting that doesn't allow you to see the cats clearly, and there's no space to really connect with any of them. There didn't seem like any sort of organization to pinpoint which cat was which, and since a lot of cats do look alike, you could only hope the one you bonded with is the same one you're adopting. As I tip-toed around the cats to look at the ones in cages (for medical or behavioral purposes), I could just sense the discomfort in their eyes. Safety measures seemed nonexistent in this place; anyone could easily step on a cat's paw or trip with how many swarm around you. The worst part was when I had a tour of a backroom where countless cats were fighting for a spot to feel the fresh air from a screen window. It was like looking at a can of sardines; I can't imagine any cat could present their best selves under these circumstances. Not only is there an extremely limited window to visit this shelter, but when you do, it makes you feel unhappy being there. You'll feel just as cramped and exposed as these poor babies.This situation could be the incentive for more people to adopt here, but I don't think that's fair on either side. The cats don't have any room to get to know their future owner, nor will they behave calmly when they're fighting for the spotlight. As for visitors, they'll feel more inclined to rescue the cats out of pity more than genuine connection. I wouldn't recommend anyone coming here, but then again, I almost wish you do come to decrease the population inside the shelter. I advise those who run Pawsitively Cats to work on expanding their business; a huge reconstruction of the place so there's more room for cats to live comfortably side-by-side. I am aware that there may be financial concerns involving this, so in that case, I'd suggest relocating these cats somewhere that can better cater to their needs. I'd rather that than have those innocent fur babies trapped in a dark and bleak shelter any longer. I understand that this shelter was built out of love for animals, I truly do, but for the sake of their wellbeing, Pawsitively Cats must improve. If not, people will not be inclined to help out, and the cats will be in no state to become someone's lifelong friend.

I called and left a message explaining that she was a particular kind of kitty and best suited in a home where she was the only pet. A man called me back, he didn't even bother to ask me any questions. he was clearly exasperated, in fact, he sounded almost insulted that I had even bothered to call them for help in the first place. He told me that they can't take a cat who can't be around other cats. Well, she's dead now. She got sick, so I could not, in good conscience, get rid of her, or send her to a shelter. So, I worked with her, until she could go no further. Hyperthyroidism was the disease and she did not respond well to the medication. In the end, we had to make the agonizing end of life decision for her and we let her go. Of course, she would have gotten sick, regardless of whether the shelter stepped up to help, or not, but I am still posting this because it is abundantly clear that they do not want to have to go above and beyond for the cats. They just want it to make pretend that they do.

They were having fun going from the front to back yard all with their underground tunnel system they elected to dig up under our home. Drive our dogs mad! The digs were trying to catch them we were trying to catch them and we were just about the point of poisoning when we fell upon a website that answered our prayers. Advanced Animal Solutions would humanely trap and remove our pesty new tenants! Eric is great even better than some dr.'s calling in and checking up to see if the traps caught anything so he could come and remove them. Now if you are like me afraid of everything in the desert this is amazing service. Within a week our 6 month problem was solved! Now my ladscaped yard can start to bloom for spring! Also couldn't get around the idea of killing animals because the hurt my "lawn". Eric at Advanced Animal solutions was indeed the solution. He was incredibly informative, and provided a very detailed inspection. He solved the problem in a few short days, The cost was very reasonable, and he humanely trapped the little booger. He was great at checking the traps to make sure the animal didn't suffer an overlong confinement and then released them back into the wild. Very good experience.
