((4.5 stars)) Pause Cafe is a busy cafe on Clinton Street, on the Lower East Side. the cafe serves a variety of brewed drinks like coffee and tea as well as offers a menu of bakery eats, breakfast and lunch sandwiches, salads, smoothies, and more. there is a good amount of seating both inside and outside if you choose to hang out. Pause Cafe gets a lot of foot traffic because it offers quality food and beverages, but also because of its location. recently, i realized that Pause had a pick up window next door. so to bypass the typical line in the main cafe, i placed a cold brew order to-go via a food app before i got there. low-and-behold-- when i arrived my cold brew was ready. the pick-up window is obviously for delivery order pickups not casuals. anyways, the window service person was very friendly and quick. the cold brew was really good as all the coffee options that i have enjoyed at Pause Cafe over the years. smooth cold brewed caffeine with enough coffee flavor and no overly bitter taste. as much as I enjoy the cafe vibes--sometimes life has you in a rush and having this "line hack" saved me a few minutes on a strangely packed day. however, if you have the time, grab a drink, a bite, and seat the. enjoy a respite from the insanity of life, here.

This cozy cafe has a diverse menu from savory to sweet products with something for everyone. I've been obsessed with the chicken avocado sandwich because it's so flavorful and the chicken is juicy and well seasoned. They have seating and it is often packed but the service is great and the line moves quickly.

Yummy food, good portions, casual eats! Went here because Clinton St Baking Co had too long of a wait but it was a great decision! The cafe is large and casual - you order at the counter and they bring you your food. Their menu is extensive but we ordered the fruit French toast and the avocado toast with egg. When they came out, they were huge! The French toast was the star of the show with a ton of fruit and pecans on top and perfectly sweetened. The avocado toast was good but very simple and the egg was slightly over cooked but still good for the price. Overall I would recommend this place for a quick, filling, and cheap bite!

Yes!!!!! We stumbled across Pause due to the fact our original destination was on a two hour wait. I am so glad we did find this spot. You're greeted it when you walked in regardless of how busy the counter is. The tables are tight and the one in the middle is like a common table for communal dining. It has Moroccan roots so the decor and music takes you away to Morocco. The service is fantastic! The bagel was toasted perfectly, and the turkey bacon was crispy as requested. It also had a great flavor. The prices are great as well. The vibe is so relaxing. I can't call it a hidden gem, because so many people were in and out of the place; so it's definitely well known. We will definitely go back and take a "pause" from the bustle if the city at Pause Café.

The half sandwiches are still served cut in half and are the perfect size! Staff were friendly. Took about 10 minutes or so after ordering to get our food, so pretty quick for a full restaurant. The Casablanca sandwich was SO SO good. This will be a must go to spot just to have that sandwich again. Cozy place with two seater tables, a long table and a community style bench table seating that was perfect for us. Try the Casablanca sandwhich! Touch of sweet. You will not regret

Cute mediterranean themed cafe. No computers allowed, but nice seating for eating a quick breakfast/brunch/lunch. We ordered at the front and waited for our food. I had a 1/2 caprese sandwich and a cinnamon bagel with cream cheese. If you're going to get a bagel in NYC, there are better spots, go somewhere that really specializes in bagels. I also had an iced coffee with a splash of almond milk. Hit the spot. The best part of Pause really is the atmosphere and decorations. It's got a cozy, moroccan vibe. Prices seem on-par with New York, if not a tad expensive. We got our dishes to-go and ate them at home. The mozzarella from my caprese sandwich was kinda all over the place, nonetheless delicious.

I have been coming to this cafe for past few years. Most of the time my orders are correct, but a few times they gave me wrong items or a few things were missing. I did a $53 order today. I asked for some extra honey and granola. A Spanish guy in the kitchen told the girl waiting on me to charge me extra next time. This guy also hassled me about my missing items. I think their food is great. However, when you have a customer who has supported them like I do. I deserve to be treated with customer respect. They could use a few lessons in it!

3.5 rounded to a 4. My breakfast crepe would have been perfect if the crepe was properly cooked, it was rubbery sadly. The fillings were lovely. The chai latte runs sweet and delicious. My date enjoyed her Açaí Bowl and found the chai latte still too sweet after requesting no sugar. Might return as I enjoyed the ambience, the bathroom, and the service was great!

This is their omelette, not really an omette and not very good. Turkey bacon had a weird taste too

Not overly impressed here. The smoothie was very good. The croissant was also very good and had a nice amount of jam as well. I had a turkey egg and bacon 'omellete'. However it wasn't really an omelette I'm not sure wgat it was, big chunks of tomato and cheese, not really together and not very big. The turkey bacon had a weird taste too. The crepe was good, very large and lots of fruit, so that was good. Lastly the place was freezing, no heat on at all other than in the both room, we ere chilled by the time we left...

My wife and I stumbled upon Pause Cafe while celebrating our anniversary, and we couldn't be happier that we did! The moment we walked in, we felt a relaxed, welcoming vibe--very Brooklyn-chic. The space felt cozy, and everything on display looked fresh, healthy, and inviting. I ordered an egg omelette with feta, lettuce, tomatoes, and avocado, along with a Greek salad and oatmeal with fruit and walnuts on the side. It was a hearty meal, and I left feeling satisfied without being overly full. My wife had an omelette with turkey bacon, spinach, lettuce, tomato, and avocado, plus a matcha latte and a homemade cake slice. I didn't realize my omelette already came with a side salad, but both salads were delicious. If you enjoy healthy, fresh breakfast options in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, I highly recommend Pause Cafe. We'll definitely be coming back to try more of their menu!

Came here on a Sunday morning at around 10am to grab coffee and breakfast with some friends. It wasn't hard to find seats, but definitely around lunchtime I noticed it becoming quite busy so would suggest coming here early on the weekends! Cute cafe with extensive menu and cozy vibes. I got a pistachio croissant, which I asked to be heated up, and a large latte. They brought my order right to my table, which was really nice of them. The croissant was flaky and airy and not too sweet. The latte was pretty regular. My friends ordered shakshukas and an acai bowl. I didn't try their food but it looked pretty good. The only thing I would suggest is sitting away from the door and closer to the inside of the cafe. There was a lot of traffic in and out of the cafe and everytime the door opened, it would take forever to close. It got to be pretty chilly, especially since it was a cold winter day. I had to put my winter coat back on when sitting inside.

SERVICE - located on the border of east village and the lower east side - plenty of indoor and outdoor seating in covered patio area - decor is very homely with pillows and wooden accents - good for a casual brunch or lunch - order at counter and then find a table - servers are enthusiastic when bringing out food - food served quickly but some drinks may be left at the counter if they accidentally think it is a to go order MENU - cafe style food with sandwiches, salads, pastries, and drinks - some vegan and vegetarian options - well priced ($14 per dish) FOOD - tofusion sandwich (7/10): turmeric tofu, cucumber, tomato, sprouts, and hummus sandwiched between two slices of ciabatta bread. This was the only vegan sandwich on the menu. The portion was generous for a breakfast. I liked how the tofu was coated in turmeric as it added a warming flavor. The raw vegetables were also very fresh. WOULD I GO BACK? Yes! The food was pretty good and the space was nice.

Good GOD this chai is the most delicious thing I've tasted on my new york trip so far. Absolutely unreal, and the staff are so lovely. The crepes are ENORMOUS; the harissa is spicy so tread lightly, but would recommend if that's your thing.

This is officially my new go to spot and I'm going to be telling everyone about it. I got there right at our reservation time, but the uptown trains had completely stopped and my friend had to walk all the way from Canal St to the East Village. It took her about 30 minutes to get there (), but the staff were so kind about it. They never made me feel uncomfortable or pressured to order while I waited, which I really appreciated. I did end up ordering a couple things so there would be food on the table when she arrived. We got the za'atar fries and the falafel with tahini and pita. Delishhhh For our mains, my friend got the chicken kebab which looked fantastic, and I got the veggie couscous bowl. It was unbelievable. It tasted exactly like the couscous my mom and safta made when I was growing up, even down to the broth being served with it. Eating it honestly made me feel like I was six years old again. This was one of my favorite meals as a kid and I haven't had it like that in so long, so I was so happy to find a place that does it this well. The vegetables were perfect with zucchini, butternut squash, cauliflower, and chickpeas, and I loved the addition of raisins and onions. Everything was also really reasonably priced for what you get. The energy in the restaurant was great and I loved that they have hooks for coats so you're not crammed at the table with jackets and bags. Overall just such a fantastic experience. This is easily my new favorite restaurant in the city and I cannot wait to come back.

My favorite dish was definitely the chicken tagine with the lemon and olive sauce. The chicken was very juicy, and the flavors were unique. I also liked the couscous and the veggies in it, although the chicken was a little on the dry side. The chicken grill was quite juicy too, just a little less flavorful. The greek salad and dips were also solid, but didn't stand out as much as the other dishes.
