Such a great environment to work in! My brother's apartment is nearby, so I stayed here for a few hours while it was snowing to get some stuff done... It's a Moroccan cafe, and I actually felt like I was having an "authentic" acai bowl for once--not one of those trendy bowls that are way overpriced. I just got a small Verry Berry bowl and it was actually so filling! I had half then as a sort of snack/lunch, and left the rest for the next morning. I mixed it with a bit of plain yogurt, and the granola got super soggy (in a good way); it was SO SO good!! On the con-side, the cafe itself is pretty small and crowded, and they removed all of their plugs to promote an electronic-less environment... Which I applaud, but I also do need to charge my computer... Everyone was crowding around the one corner in the room that had a plug somewhat nearby, which was a bit hectic. If you need a plug, you should probably go somewhere else! read more

Walk passed this little cafe so many times and finally decided to try it out. Such great vibe - the whole cafe is very cozy, decors are very vibrant. They offer a lot of food options for a cafe in my opinion. I got the seasonal pitaya bowl and the chicken avocado sandwich. The bowl was exceptional with generous amount of toppings (which I appreciate a lot)! The chicken sandwich was super panini-pressed to perfection - the bread was crispy and chicken was tender with lots of avocado (again very appreciate it)! The only down side is that it can get very crowded as people usually come to the cafe with laptops to do work, but it is definitely a great spot if you want to grab something delicious really quick! Staffs are nice but they seem a bit overwhelmed with the amount of customer which is understandable. Definitely recommend! read more

Upgrading my review to 5 stars because I've been a regular of this little cafe for months now and they are pretty awesome! The space is tiny and you can tell it's a neighborhood darling because it's constantly full of people. Whether it's for coffee or breakfast or lunch and midday snacks or afternoon tea to a light evening meal, this cafe with its friendly staff makes for a great quick stop or a place to hang out and chat. The coffee is terrific and the sandwiches are delicious! So are the sweets and pastries and for the health conscious they have an excellent selection of smoothies and salads. Excellent service, very friendly staff. The ambience inside is hip little coffee shop with trendy lights and comfy sofas, where you can definitely sit and chat with friends a while. I LOVE this place! Pause Cafe of my new neighborhood hotspot! It's a Moroccan Cafe with a wonderful ambience! Every detail of this cafe was well thought out down to where the sugars are placed. A wonderful juice bar where you can get a "green detox juice" or a "purple detox juice" for $4 for a small, $5 for a medium and $6 for a large. Next to the juice bar is a small salad bar where you can get a combination of other fresh ingredients. Upon first entrance you are greeted by friendly Moroccan staff members that always say hi to their regulars. Breakfast is served all day, the sandwiches are fresh and their coffee is also wonderful! We were waiting two hours (predicted) for Clinton Street Baking Co, and hot in the summer weather, so instead of getting a drink from CSBC, we went across the street to Pause Cafe, which is an adorable place. If I ever managed to snatch up a seat, I might stay there a while. The service was splendid and sweet, and the coffee/drinks were high quality and decently priced. Love this place! I was looking for a coffee shop near Shampoo Avenue B (btw, Erik is good) - I had some time to kill and wanted a cozy place to read a book. After stumbling across this place on Yelp, I decided to head over. It's as cute as it sounds/looks - it's a tiny space and while it was quite busy this afternoon (around 2pm on a Sunday afternoon), few people dined in. There are about 4 small tables indoors and some window stools, and a couple benches outside. I got a table by the door but to my surprise, there was always a free table during the two hours I stayed. Pretty great for a NYC coffee shop. Also, the vibe is super chill. Good music, open doors/windows...and just a charming place overall. I ordered the acai mix nuts bowl, and it was yummy! I've never actually had an acai bowl so I didn't quite know what to expect but it was so tasty and refreshing on such a hot day. It was $8 for a "small" bowl and incredibly satiating. I made my sister join and order the same thing. She was full for a solid 5 hours! The guys who work there are great and so nice. They never once asked me to leave or hurry up (I def would have bounced if people were waiting for tables but luckily no one was). This cafe is a neighborhood gem! I visited here first for a chai latte (delicious) and a comfy place to work. The chai was great and although there isn't a ton of space, I had no problem finding a place to work. The music was a little loud for it to be a perfect study spot, but I love the friendly and homey vibe. I came again the following week for takeout and got their matcha açaí bowl and it was AMAZING! Iced coffee here is amazing, didn't even get the cold brew but the coffee was supremely smooth. Wheatgrass shots looked good, and all of the sandwiches seem super yummy. Place is small & cute, and they make a very economical usage of their space. The breads for their sandwiches are fresh baked in house. Also, ask for the menu, its gorgeous. Pause Cafe is a little spot, smaller than what I thought, located in a very alive area surrounded by many other bars, cafés and restaurants. The atmosphere is special, moroccan style, and we were lucky enough to pass by when two dudes where playing the guitar outside. I came here with a friend for some coffee. Ended up trying their matcha bowl. I have been seeing it in many pictures and felt so curious about it. It was absolutely a good choice. With a little mint and the exact amount of sweetness. I recommend it. For $8 you can get the small one, which isn't small but a good size. So for $11 you get the big one, that I can imagine is huge. My friend said the almond latte was good too. Again, the small size wasn't exactly small, which we loved. The smoothies looked very good too. Next thing I wanna try is their brunch/food. This place has taken a major downhill since I started coming here. The food is mediocre, it is BEYOND crowded with uncomfortable seating, and most of all, the staff sucks. They are rude and 9/10 times I have come they forget to serve me my food and I have to go ask what's up after 20 minutes. Today, I wanted to grab a coffee to go at their new to-go location next door. Doors open, customers in there, I walked in and they immediately and very rudely told me to go next door. I said I just wanted a coffee to go and he kept looking down and didn't answer me. I walked out and will never be back. This was a final straw but all aspects of the place have taken a major downhill. Give your money to better people with better food!!! read more

I used to live down the street and would come here almost everyday to work. It's an amazing coffee shop where you can actually get some work done and has outlets and lots of seating. The employees are super sweet, the blueberry muffins are great along with the smoothies! I used to think Pause Cafe was nothing more than just a place to snatch a quick coffee while waiting in a massive line for Clinton Street Baking Company, but boy was I wrong. It's pretty fantastic in its own right. Passing down Clinton and wanting a quick bite/coffee, my lovely lady and I decided to grab an espresso drink and a 1/2 breakfast sandwich. Not knowing what the breakfast sandwich looked like, I was a little dubious they'd sell just 1/2 a sandwich for $3.50. I was expecting one of those borderline stale rolls you get from corner bodegas, but boy was I wrong. Their breakfast sandwiches are 8-inch pressed panini style sandwiches and absolutely delicious (not to mention filling). Now the the 1/2 and whole sandwich options make sense -- you have to be pretty hungry to dust off an entire sandwich in one sitting. They're friendly folks behind the coffee bar, and they have a limited, but comfy amount of seating inside. If you want to stay awhile, you'll probably want to avoid peak hours, but even if you're doing a grab and go, this place is fantastic. read more
