This is a fantastic place to eat. The pulled pork is my fave, but the smoked turkey, brisket, and burnt ends (when they have them) are also great. Love their mac n cheese, baked beans, and hobo potatoes. I have never been disappointed here. Consistent good food. Their sweet BBQ sauce is great. Consider getting pie. Highly recommend. read more

Really solid BBQ! Pulled pork and ribs were both delicious. Baked potatoes are huge and perfectly baked.

We were driving through Arthur after a basketball game and stopped to grab something to eat on our way home. I had the brisket burger with the onions rings on it (can't remember what it was called). Delicious and so much food. Husband had a pick 3 platter and kept saying how good it was. We're an hour an half away from Arthur and it's a bummer we aren't there more often bc we would definitely stop in frequently! Staff was also so nice and helpful especially when we stopped in 30 min prior to closing. read more

Possibly the best smoked pork ribs I have ever eaten. Nothing fancy but worth stopping by when we are in the area.

Very good, quick and friendly with great options. Easy access too. The BBQ was great.

This bbq joint really hit the spot! The seating area isn't the biggest, but they do have plenty of tables to seat yourself. We hit it right at lunch time and the place was packed. Even though they were busy our waitress was friendly and took care of us throughout our time there. I ordered the bourbon tenderloin with macaroni and cheese. The sandwich was delicious that bourbon glaze with bacon combo was top notch. This was one of the best bbq's that I've had in a while and I definitely recommend it! read more

Pauly's BBQ - Piggy Mac - Barbeque Near Me - Arthur, Illinois

Ordered pulled pork sandwich with their potato special as a side. The pulled pork was plentiful and delicious. The HOBO potatoes were okay, but nothing special. They take French fry cut potatoes, add green peppers, onion, and bacon, and then stir in butter. Then heat up in an oven....just okay. My wife ordered pulled pork platter. Enough meat for 2 meals. I most definitely would eat there again. read more

Best tasting bbq in the area!!! Test fresh! Get extra to freeze! Tasty baked beans too!

Heard great things about Pauly's and decided to try it out with my wife. Tried the pick 2 platter, so chose pulled pork and ribs. Maybe it was an off day, but the pulled pork was more on the dry side, which should be moist. Also the ribs were kinda dry as well, was hoping for juicy and tender meat. The fried okra was mediocre, was served lukewarm. Coleslaw was ok, little on the creamy side for my taste. Sauces though were good. Overall would rate 3.5. read more

This was one of the gems of Arthur Illinois. I was so utterly blown away by this place - from the chicken to the brisket, to the mac/n/cheese. just stunning dance of flavors across your taste buds. While my father had perfectly seasoned, slow-smoked brisket, I had a salad with chicken. I've never tasted chicken that well done - perfectly balanced with flavor and moisture, thoroughly smoked but not dry. Just amazing. Had with honey mustard dressing, I just could not stop eating despite being completely full. Man, that was a good meal, almost worth coming all the way from California to Arthur Illinois just to have it again. read more

Disappointed in the food. Very dry. Portions were small. I have no idea who was cooking tonight but they were new, or they just don't care about the customer. I don't think I'll be back. Waitress argued with my friend about how done his food was. She wasn't mean, just didn't believe my friend at all. She tried to give excuses as to why it was the way it was and made my friend feel like he should just eat it anyway. He did get something else that was okay. Baked potato was old and cold. The mood in the place was drab. Is it a full moon tonight? read more

This is quite possibly the best BBQ in the area.If you happen to be near Arthur, Illinois I recommend stopping by. They have the normal fixins such as chicken, ribs, sausage etc. They also have brisket but only at special times or days. Be sure to get the brisket if they are offering it! I also strongly suggest you try the fried mushrooms. They are probably in my top ten of best fried mushrooms I've ever had. You get a lot too! The staff are also very friendly and the prices are fair. Get your hog on! read more

Go now. Just hop in your car and get there stat! Best darn bbq you will ever have & reasonably priced. Situated near downtown Arthur, this simple little restaurant is nothing fancy as far as decor, but the food...oh my goodness!!! They have weekend specials that are always tasty, and a menu with all the important bbq items. The owners & staff are so friendly and down to earth. We are always greeted warmly and never regret choosing this place for lunch and dinner. Generous portions & priced well. Can get super packed, so get there early. read more

Pulled pork was good. Baked beans tasted like Bush's canned beans and green beans were burnt. Cornbread had a great flavor and fluffy. Shaved Tenderloin was dry. read more

Ate here on a very busy Saturday evening with a party of 6. It seems to be a very popular restaurant with locals. We orders a couple of kids meals and platters for the rest of us. We had high hopes for the food but sadly it was mixed. Half of our dinners were very good (brisket and smoked sausage were great; kids cheeseburger was a hit, and the corn bread was deemed yummy). Those of us who ordered ribs were a bit disappointed as they were very dry even slathered in sauce. The baked beans and Mac & cheese were ok but not great. And, the restaurant was so busy that staff didn't really have time to clean the tables properly in between guests which meant that our table was a bit messy and we had to watch where we put our feet on the floor as the prior diners had left a lot of max & cheese on the floor. Am glad we tried this place but may not return again if we are in the area. read more

Fabulous meal. Everything was delicious and the price was on point. All the bbq sauce choices were tasty, couldn't choose a favorite. read more

We were looking for a good BBQ restaurant and tried a few and decided this give this place a try. After eating their food, fish and BBQ.... One word describes them...WOW. Great taste, plentiful, and delicious. If you want a local home town diner, this is the place for you. read more

I ordered the loaded fries with BBQ on them. Definitely enough for 2 people. They were delicious!

Been wanting to try this place for awhile and was going thru town for my daughters softball tournament and decided to stop. After about 10 minutes they finally come take our drink and food order. I got the pulled pork and it was really dry. I couldn't even finish my sandwich. My daughter got the smoked Turkey and it was really dry as well. The service was just as bad as the food for only being a couple people in there besides us and 6 people working. I don't see how this place is rated #6 in Illinois for best bbq. I don't think I'd ever patronize this place again read more

Everything was good. Cornbread so good! We had a group of six all different items so good! Great staff.

So good! We had the loaded tots and walleye with fries. I highly recommend stopping by for a yummy meal.

Me and my husband stopped in for lunch, we both had the pulled pork sandwich. He had baked beans and fries as a side which he said was very good. He also had Pauly's Hot BBQ sauce on his sandwich which he said was hot. If you put enough on your sandwich your eyes and nose will water. I had the original BBQ sauce, which was good for me. I also had the hobo potatoes as my side which was cubed potatoes and said it came with bacon, onion and peppers but mine was just potatoes. Because of this I'm rating it as a 4 instead of 5. Would stop again when coming thru town, service was good, did need a fly swatter. read more

Great, tasty and tender brisket. Fantastic baked beans and fried okra. Limited made soda that was as rather refreshing. Will go back soon. Friendly service. You could tell be the slight wait time that everything was freshly prepared and the hotness and taste backed it up. read more

We went Friday night during the virus. Had to order from window. Lots of people called in which I should have done. Waited an hour. Have had better. First time and probably my last. Had great food good service but they like to steal from you. Charged my banking account with the original check amount then credited it back then charged me $15 over my original amount for a tip. We marked out no tip because we left a $20 tip on the table. So fair warning double check you banking statements! read more

I always like a BBQ joint that lets you choose your sauce! I got a tenderloin sandwich with green beans and macaroni and cheese. Everything was delicious! Service was fast and friendly. I also noticed lots of working men choose this place for lunch today. By noon, every seat was full. I'll take this over Yoder's every day of the week! read more

We've eaten at Paulys's, had their food truck and most recently used their catering service. The food was excellent! We had the melt in your mouth brisket and the fried chicken. Everyone loved it and the sides we had, slaw, potato salad, and Mac n cheese. And we can't forget the corn bread! I would highly recommend using them for any catering needs you have! read more

Dear Hubby and I were shopping around Arthur, and decided to try Pauly's BBQ. We had heard some good things about it, and decided to find out for ourselves. It was wonderful! One of the Saturday specials was BBQ Brisket, which we both ordered. It was very flavorful, juicy and tender. The sandwiches had two thick slabs of meat on them - - very filling! The fries were steak fries, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. One thing we will do different next time is not go right at lunchtime! It is a very small place (it used to be a dairy bar, so it's very small). We had to wait about 10 minutes for a table, but once we got seated our waitress was right there taking care of us. We will definitely go back again! I'm looking to trying more things on the menu! read more

Wow! What an amazing place. Truly the best hidden gem I've ever been to, and I've been to a lot. Thursday is wing day which is my favorite BBQ these days and this place knocked them out of the park. Tons of sauce choices, cooked perfectly, and huge. Also the fried mushrooms were homemade and came with this amazing sauce that had some kick. Service was great, carry coke products, and even sell their sauce and seasonings plus funny shirts. Can't wait to come back. read more

We've never thought about going anywhere but Yoder's when in Arthur, but saw Pauly's on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Wow! Glad we did. From the moment we parked, the aroma of smoked meet drew us in. Today's special was brisket. Added hobo potatoes, baked beans and sweet cornbread and we were in barbecue heaven. My husband had Mac n cheese instead of beans and it was great too. Topped our meals off with home made cobbler and it was equally delicious. read more

We have ate at several BBQ places. This place has some of the best pulled pork that we have had. Nice atmosphere and reasonable prices.
