I go to Paul's whenever I need my nails done. It's close to where I live and they are polite there. Tammy is very friendly, gentle and does a great job. My only complaint is that even when I make an appointment, they still leave me waiting. I ended up at Paul's after a completely botched job at my regular nail salon. I made an appointment upon the recommendation of my friend who goes there. Boy am I glad I did! The salon is peaceful, well-kept, and neat and clean. Lana removed the mess that was on my nails easily and redid them beautifully. I ended up with an acrylic overlay and clear gel top. Perfect! Natural looking. Thin!!! Prices are reasonable and the selection of colors, designs and paints is expansive. I've already returned for a fill. Repeat customers get a "membership" card. They write your appointments on there and you get a number. There's a drawing for different services so if your number matches, you can win. (Five free fills for example.) I don't get my nails done all that often, but when I wanted to, I used to go here on a recommendation from a co-worker. The first 2 or 3 times I got my nails done here, I got acrylic with regular polish and my nails came out great. I loved them and they lasted. However, the last time I decided to get gel over my acrylic. I don't know what the problem was, but within a day or 2, the gel polish just started peeling off the acrylic entirely, pretty much just as one big layer off the whole nail. I don't know what the problem was. The first few times I went, I got a fresh set of nails and just took my nails off without getting a fill. But the last time, I got the gel polish over a fill, so I'm not sure if that had something to do with it? I don't see why it would. Considering the first few times my nails were great, I would go here again. But I will stay away from their gel polish for sure. read more

I came in to get my nails done last week, and i didn't get at all what i asked for. My nails came out so bad, they looked like press-ons from target. The man i had also, at table 5, was so rough on my nails it hurt. I went back in to get them redone because i was going on vacation, and they look better now, but nonetheless still ridiculous. It has been a week since i got them done and 2 have fallen off. I ended up paying $60 in total for these. Definitely not going back. read more

This place is a scam! Considering that Phillip's is in the same complex one would think that they'd try to be more impressive, but that is totally the opposite case. The last time I was there was for some repair work on chipped nails that I just had done days before with gel (at least I thought). My first inclination that something was very wrong when table number five did not ask what I wanted done and began really filing down my acrylic gel nails down to almost my own nails when I just wanted a trim down and the acrylics to be filed down to where they could grow out eventually and an overlay of gel polish. Well, since he didn't ask me he filed the acrylics down and got out his acrylic kit. I told him no that's not what I wanted I just wanted to grow out acrylic and get gel painted on he said oh ok. Well, since I'm not in the nail business, I didn't realize what had happened. What happened was that now I had very brittle nails and even though he now was going to paint on gel, it wouldn't stay on, so that's why I went back for repair. Well, station number five was so rude to me when I came back saying that none of what was going wrong with my nails was not his fault it was my fault and he was doing me a favor by fixing the nails he offered to fix. He actually had the nerve to say if I paid twenty more dollars he'd repainted my nails. What a jerk. Never going back there! My nails are horrendous. All but a few of them chipped so they look terrible. Like I said before, I am no nail expert so I didn't realize that this would happen. Don't go there!!! read more

I have gone to many different salons in Pittsburgh, and Paul Studio is hands down the most reliable. Lana is the absolute best! The only down side is that she is very busy because she's so popular. I started with Lana, and have probably been to every staff person there, and I have never had a bad experience. In the over 5 years I've gone there, I've had one time where a nail broke off before my normal fill-in time, and they replaced it with no question. Sometimes they are not the closest to where I am geographically, but I always go back because I know I can trust that the quality is good for the price. And their prices are usually lower than competitors. I had my nails done in another town about a month ago, and they were breaking within days, and I paid more! never again! read more
