I had my computer start to die and took it in to Paul the Computer Guy. They called me within a couple hours of diagnostics to tell me what was wrong. I decided to buy a new computer and have them transfer the data from my old computer to the new one. I needed it in two days and Matt Benavente did a terrific job. He was professional, kept me informed througout the process, did a great job.....and ahead of the promised scheduled. I would absolutely go back to them with any computer program. After a near computer disaster, and business' digital life at stake, I would be remiss not to update my review. While I have few complaints about the overall experiences I had this time around with Paul's, I was just left...nonplussed by the whole experience. Wait times were longer than quoted for assessment of my computer's issues, and I never received updates when those wait times were exceeded--I had to call and check-in regularly to get a status update on service and repairs. This computer was my main business laptop, and being without it for two plus weeks before even a diagnosis was really challenging. I travel often, and no weekend or outside regular business hours was a pain. Also, with all the calls I made into Paul's over a two month period, it got annoying to have to give my full name, business name, and summary of the problem to the person every time. It's a small business, and while they're obviously very busy (awesome for them!) I felt like there should have been a little more customer recognition after all our interactions. Finally, when I was able to pick up my hard drive, they tried to charge me again for service work I had already paid for over the phone. So, yes, I'm happy my data was salvaged and overall I don't have bad things to say, but, it wasn't a stellar consumer experience. read more

If I could give Paul 10 stars, it still wouldn't be enough! Absolute lifesavers! My business laptop froze at the welcome screen and to my horror, my backup service had not been fully backup my nightly work for over a month. I was panicked. But I got my crying in check and called Paul on a whim. Micah probably spent 15 minutes troubleshooting with me over the phone (for free) before we decided it was a good idea to simply bring it in that day (Tuesday afternoon). I paid the Rush Fee of $50 (worth it's weight in gold), and they said they could get back to me with some results by Thursday. THAT turn around time seemed impressive, so you can imagine my surprise when I got a call from Matt on Wednesday morning with the diagnostic! It was a complete hard drive failure, but he can a) save my data, which is equivalent to saving my business and b) replace the hard drive and re-install the operating system and c) even properly complete the software download that I had struggled with that led to the crash - and it will be done in one day! I fully expected to have to replace the computer and had mentally budgeted that cost. Nope - it will cost less than a third of what I would pay to replace the laptop, and it will be returned to its "out of the box" quality. I know so little about computers, but both Micah and Matt were wonderful at translating the "tech talk" into something I could understand. Next time, I will skip he frustration and the tears and head straight to Paul, Matt and Micah. read more

After I ran into a situation regarding a fresh install on my laptop, the guys at Paul's were very helpful in replacing my failing drive and reinstalling, exactly to the specifications that I needed. They even fit to my ridiculous time constraints perfectly! I owe a small part of my sanity to them- I would have gone crazy trying to fix it myself. read more

We've used Paul the Computer Guy in our business for five years. They know what the heck they are doing! We've had them perform computer maintenance and update our network. We've had them come to our business, and sometimes they've just answered a question over the phone for free. When we needed to upgrade our router, they gave us very specific advice over the phone and told us to order it online because it would be faster and cheaper than ordering through them. When it came in, they set it all up for us. They are honest, responsive and knowledgeable. I can't recommend them highly enough! read more

After all the great reviews I called and explained the issue with my laptop including the version of the current OS and was told by Micah that not only would they be able to get my PC working again for $65 but could also install Win10 for a total of $95. I took the computer into the shop where Micah disputed what he told me (I had written copious notes which I took into the shop with me). Regardless I asked them to essentially get the PC to communicate with the internet again, told them I was not in a hurry (which they took literally) and left... an entire MONTH passed with no word so I called and was transferred to Ryan who spoke to me in an incredibly curt and condescending tone! he said my IT friend that originally took a look at my PC didn't know what he was doing :( he proceeded to tell me my computer was too old and not worth the time to fix but he would spend another day or 2 trying to get it to work. he FINALLY called me several days later and said it now communicates with the internet but he couldn't download free virus software so it was a useless computer and that I owed them $65 and if my intent was to load Win10 I might as well purchase a new computer. My big gripe here is: both Micah and Ryan have a gaping lack of listening and communication skills. I worked in computers for 45 years till I retired so not ignorant when it comes to operating them and truly did NOT appreciate their lack of respect for my request and the manner in which they spoke to me!! read more

I took my aging laptop to Paul The Computer Guy. It's about 8 years old and was running so slowly that it had become essentially unusable. A couple of days later the tech returned it to me. He had increased the RAM and done a cleanup that appears to be more extensive than the Microsoft utility. I had always done my own cleanups and defrags, but it never seemed to improve the laptop's performance very much. Whatever the tech did with my hard drive gave me more open drive space.. He also repaired the key that the dog had stepped on and broken and blew all the dust and funk that had accumulated inside the casing and exhaust fan. For a small fraction of what a new laptop would cost I was able to get my own returned promptly and running way faster than new with the additional RAM. For me, the best part of keeping my old laptop (besides saving $) is that I don't have another piece of electronic gear just sitting around the house. ALSO, PTCG didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need, which I really appreciate. read more

My Mac hard drive crashed and I discovered my Time Machine had not been backing up for the last 3 months. This was a big deal as I am self-employed and all my work is done off my Mac. Additionally, I am new in town and searched for authorized repair stores on the Apple website. I called another repair store in town and they had a backlog of 8 days. I then spoke with Mark at Paul the Computer Guy who told me to come on in and he ran a diagnostic right in front of me. The bad news was that the hard drive was fried and I would likely need to send the hard drive off for forensic data recovery of the content that had not been backed up. In the end, they installed the new hard drive, updated my OS, recovered all the info off of my Time Machine AND were able to manually get the data that wasn't backed up (so that I didn't have to wait for forensic data recovery). All of this and they came in under budget. I am one happy camper and will be loyal to Paul the Computer guy going forward! read more
