Ordered 2 wedgie, got bad product, little sauce and toppings, tried to let manager know, couldn't help. Was over cooked, little toppings, and cheese. Dough did not taste the same as usual, bland, not flavorfull like normal. When I called for a re do, they said they couldn't. So beware, I will not purchase any of the companies products again. I was trying to give them a second chance, they failed again, I used to get a order every week. They failed again, I guess they have changed owners. New owners do not care about keeping regular customers happy.

Medium cheese 12" Pizza

I usually don't have anything bad to say about Paul Revere's. I've been a customer for a long time however, my experience with pizza and Parmesan breadsticks, I ordered was not good at all. My breadsticks were burnt in some of the best parts of your breadsticks are the extra Parmesan and the butter that's on the bottom. However, not this time. Also the toppings are usually decent however, this evening, a medium cheese pizza had barely any cheese on it. definitely not worth the $28. I'm not sure if you're just having some quality control issues, training or employees but I don't think I'll be ordering from you guys for a while. Thank you for taking the time to listen.

The Best Pizza by Paul Revere's Pizza If you and your family want the best pizza in Des Moines metro, call or stop by Paul Revere's Pizza on 3201 Indianola Avenue. As someone who worked for the two biggest pizza chain restaurants, I am more qualified than most to testify that Paul Revere's Pizza is the best and much better than all the national chains' pizza. This is the 3rd 're I've been to this location. The first two times were decent. Ordered pizza to pick up. We were told is would take about 20 mins. We got there early, about 10 mins, our pizza was sitting on top of the ovens. It was cold. The cheese was hard and it was very bland. No flavor at all. I won't be back to this place.

My wife and I have been making a point to try at least one new-to-us place each month this year…read more April's pick was Baratta's, a Des Moines staple that has been part of the local dining scene for years. We went on a Thursday night and walked into a packed house. Baratta's is one of those sprawling, multi-room venues that feels like it grew one dining room at a time, and there is a lot of charm in that. The menu is equally sprawling, and we started with the Focaccia bread, which was excellent. We split the Ravioli al Forno and still had enough to bring home, which is always a good sign. A couple of things caught us off guard. The room we landed in ran loud enough to make conversation a little work, and the wine list was shorter than we expected for a place this size. Neither was a dealbreaker. Baratta's is the kind of place that has earned its reputation, and we would go back to explore more of the menu. Worth a visit if you have not been.

A Des Moines classic. Last night took me to revisit Baratta's down on South Union...a South side…read moretradition with history dating back to the 1920s. I think they've been under the current ownership since 1993. Spacious parking and I've always loved the atmosphere at Baratta's... Kind of an old school vibe, but up to date too. From the outside you can still see the evolution that happened over the years. A combination of store and home that evenutally merged together, but it's not as obvious from the inside. We were greeted right away when we walked in and were seated at a high backed booth in the bar area. If I recall the seating in the main restaurant is mostly low top tables and chairs. I didn't catch our server's name, but she was BUSY. It seemed like she working as a host, bartender, and server from what I could see. All rolled into one. And she did a fanstatic job! Drink orders were taken first and food a few minutes later after we'd had time to look over the menu. Most entrees come with bread and a side of either soup or a salad. I love their salads. All their dressing are made in house if I recall correctly. We ordered the Amaggio with chicken, the Manicotti al Formaggio with white sauce, both with side salads (blue cheese and creamy garlic), an unsweetened ice tea, and a soda (Coke products). $56ish before tip. Amaggio: "A house favorite with your choice of chicken, shrimp, or both rolled in a mixture of fresh bread crumbs and then grilled to perfection. Served over linguini with roasted red peppers and mushrooms. Topped with our Amaggio sauce made with olive oil, white wine, fresh-squeezed lemon juice, garlic and basil." Manicotti al Formaggio: "A unique blend of five cheeses including mozzarella, provolone, parmesan, asiago, and ricotta wrapped with fresh pasta and baked with your choice of red, white, or marinara." In full transparency I've never had a bad experience at Baratta's. Food or service... But that being said I can say the same about A LOT of restaurants in the metro! Some that others complain about regularly. I'm been trying to figure that out... 1. Either I'm not picky... 2. Maybe I'm very forgiving. 3. Or maybe I just choose to approach each dining experience with a positive attitude right out of the gate and it's infectious. Maybe a combination of all of the above...? It's just easier to be nice sometimes. It is what it is I guess... The food hit our table after a short wait. Bread and salads first and then the main dishes. Everything was cooked perfectly. The linguini in my Amaggio was still al dente. The chicken was delicious. Perfectly seasoned and not the least bit dry. I'm glad I left my bread to help clean my plate with. Our server checked on us regularly, we never had to ask for a refill...it was just taken care of...and Joe stopped by to check on us a couple of times too. I love seeing owners on site and interacting with their guests. That alone can bring a restaurant to a different level in my eyes. It shows accountablity that can sometimes seem absent these days. As always a great meal and an overall fantastic visit to Baratta's!

You don't have to do the four-course meal for $60--they also let you choose just one course if you don't want to spend that much, and they give you a larger portion when you choose only one. My pasta was $22 for the Ragu Rigatoni, and my mom's was $16 for the Gnocchi Sage, which was homemade. They didn't give her a lot, but that's probably because it was handmade. It was delicious! However, I couldn't eat my pasta because they don't list the ingredients, and after taking my first bite, I realized it was pork. I don't eat pork and avoid it like the plague, so I had to spit it out. I ended up getting it to go and was disappointed that I hadn't asked about the ingredients beforehand. So, if you have any dietary restrictions, definitely make sure to ask before ordering. They packaged up our pasta for us, and the staff was very friendly. It's a cute, small restaurant with a really cool kitchen in the middle where you can watch them prepare the dishes in real time. Our waiter even left us some bread and butter in our to-go bag, which was really nice. I'd definitely come back next time I'm in town, but I'd probably try the spaghetti and pepper dish!

The meal begins with a salad course followed by a pasta course. The cod cake salad was incredibly delicious! Both the gnocchi and the amatriciana were standout pastas. I had the pork ribeye which was succulent and cooked to perfection and served with a tomatillo sauce that was so tasty! Dessert is family style with an assortment of desserts for the table including a lemon cake and a tres leches cake. The service was great from start to finish including making the reservation (which I highly recommend). We were greeted the moment we walked through the door and quickly shown to our table. Since we were dining early, the venue was quiet for the first half hour or so, but diners kept coming in and by the time we left the place was hopping. It is very cozy and intimate but not so much so that you feel like other diners are on top of you or that you are listening in on their conversations. We brought our own wine, but there is a vast assortment of wines available. We enjoyed Lucca so much that we have made two future reservations already and are very much looking forward to dining with the wonderful crew there soon!

This has been in the Beaverdale neighborhood in different iterations since nineteen fifty-two…read more Started by old Italian families of Des Moines. Its current ownership (Simon started when he was 22yrs old) has been there for over twenty years(Feb 2005). I think it's still a secret gem of Des Moines. Everyone is understaffed, so I always appreciate the service staff who are working. Remember they're busy because they're good. The restaurant opens at five o'clock and you'll always see a line outside , waiting to get in. I usually go about 6:30 and sometimes get in right away, and sometimes I have to wait thirty minutes. This restaurant still has that old time feel, it's a definite classic Italian neighborhood type vibe. The owner's wife is a server and the owner many times seats people. The owner also walks around the restaurant table to table , asking how people are. General servers have always tried to make sure I am happy. It can be a busy place so depending on the time you may have to wait but they move people through quickly without being intrusive. The owner has developed an adjacent bar waiting area where you can have cocktails and talk to your friends while you're waiting. It's filled with very comfortable chairs and both times I've been in there. The bartender was a great mixologist and moved very fast. They have excellent cocktails, a nice wine list and a good beer list. I go every few weeks with the right attitude of either going right at four thirty to wait in line to get in with the first group or to go later to get in with the second group around 6:30. Car pooling is a good idea because parking can be limited so many people are coming. I've enjoyed appetizers like onion rings, stuffed mushrooms and Bruschetta and main dishes like lamb chops, scallops , different types of steaks including classic steak de burgo, beef tenderloin, and Sirlion. Don't forget to add the fabulous portabella mushroom sauce to your steak. They have lots of chicken dishes as well. Lots of fun Pasta too and they are I enjoy their lobster bisque! I took my friend there for his birthday and he had one of my favorites lamb chops, which were prepared excellently , and I had scallops, always a wonderful choice. They also have great Italian sandwiches and pizzas for a family or group eating. The waiting is worth it and can be fun drinking, relaxing and chatting. I forgot to mention the long tradition of everyone in your party getting a little bite of sweetness with complimentary homemade red velvet cake at the end of your meal. It's the kind of place you could bring anyone from out of town from any city and feel confident they'll have a good experience.
