The strong scent of fresh croissants, baguettes, quiches drags you in. Everything looked so good, but the baguettes con prosciutto stood out. I ordered a drip (much needed). Definitely on the lighter side but still delicious.

I was stuck in Lisbon airport for two occasions and I found myself coming back here both times. Paul is a bakery based in France and have a huge array of baked goods along with other cooked items from their kitchen. Compared to the other cafes/bakeries in the airport, they have comparable prices, but I felt that their food overall tasted better than Versailles which I also did try in the airport. Many of their deals include a pastry and coffee for a few euro or a sandwich and beer for lunch. Since it was still breakfast time, I ordered the Menu Paris which comes with a croissant sandwich and a coffee. They heated it up for me and promptly got it out within a minute or so. Also ordered a pastel de nata and they make a pretty good version of it as well. Overall, they're a very decent option for grabbing food at the airport. Extra points for having the olive oil and vinegar in packets to go for convenience.

Ok quality coffee and pastries, just what you'd expect from Paul. A bit overpriced but very conveniently located on the airport.

Had a layover at the Lisbon airport, so figured we would try to find a place for some baked Portuguese egg tarts.

The layers of pastry on the outside were super thick - the most amount of layers I've seen on the double-digit ones that I've eaten. This makes the crunch earth-shattering, but still so easy to bite through. The pastry layers cascade down into the center, creating ripples of individual crunches along the way that is so immensely satisfying to consume. But what's truly spectacular is the inside. Upon the first bite, the custardy center oozes out like molten lava. You better make sure you have a plate under this, because the bright yellow goo is as addicting to taste as it is dangerous to your hands or clothing. The flavor is simply perfect - just the right amount of sweetness, citrus, and egginess. It's honestly unbelievable how good and irresistible this is. Comparing it to Pasteis de Belem, I think I would actually put this slightly over. The extra layers and the more liquidy center just do it for me. That's an iconic place, but comparing simply on what I liked better, I think this takes the cake (or tart). Overall, pretty close to the best baked good I've ever had. 9.75/10

Most polished, black and white tiled Versailles offered a clear array of sandwiches, beverages and seating options-albeit some occupied as 'sleeper sofas' for weary wanderers. That is exactly the "good" problem Landeau has as besides their famous chocolate cake, all they have are beverages, inadvertently making their sign outside with the proclamation "When in doubt, try chocolate cake!" kind of hilarious. Once you've huffed and puffed your way up one of Lisbon's stairmaster hills, the darkened and vintage feeling interior of this particular Landeau feels very welcome. Although there is ample seating for the size of this store, the ample line of people waiting to get in from the outside might make getting a seat difficult nonetheless. I do like the regular lattes here but let's face it, any beverage you get here is really meant to be a sidekick to the main star of the show, Landeau's famous chocolate cake. And it is indeed, the best slice of chocolate cake you'll ever have, and that is not hyperbole. Layered and textured, but pillowy and light, it's really difficult to describe what a beautiful heavenly experience eating a chocolate cake at Landeau is. It's like treating your mouth to the most sumptuous and comforting experience it's ever going to have when eating something and you never want to end. And for under 5 euros, it almost feels like a steal. I really do consider going to a Landeau one of the highlights of my trip to Lisbon and urge everyone to put it on their must eats here. Even yes, over the egg tarts.
