If you see these people at your job, I suggest you kick them off your property as fast as possible unless you want to be over charged for a crappy job! I cannot say enough bad things about this company. We had a tree fall thru our house 2/2025. My husband was impressed because they were the first ones on site. After we hired them, the lies started and I think we talked to the job super, maybe 3 time during the whole job. We NEVER had a completion date and ended up just moving back in and James, the job super, started lying to us before we even got the permits. They screwed up the carpet; we were in the house 4.5 months before we got it fixed. The drywall repairs were awful. They overcut the hole for a wall heater. The painting looks like it was done by a 5-year-old. They painted the trim and base and tried to use paint thinner to clean it (and that takes all the lacquer off the trim). The lines where the ceiling was cut into the walls are terrible! And, it's not going to be fixed since my husband decided to pay them their last payment. The contract says they'll return the painting to the previous condition, definitely wasn't done, but they still charged us for it. So, I have to live with an absolute crappy paint job that I can't stand. We decided to redo our bathroom; we wanted them to replace the underlayment. It took maybe 3 sheets of underlayment and charged us $1,600.00. When we moved back in, they unpacked nothing (all the boxes were piled in the living room and bedrooms, not sorted), and cleaned nothing, we had paint, plaster and dust all over the windows, in the bathtub and everywhere else, but still tried to charge us $10,232.81 for "content mitigation". If you utilize reviews to make your decisions, then definitely pay attention to the newest few. We chose this company from a huge list from our insurance agency, and we had an decent initial first contact. But after they cut holes in my floor, did the easy dry-out portion and got paid, I've been waiting over three months now and my floor looks exactly the same. The project manager bounced m all over the place, weeks going by with little communication, and him pushing off meetings with me to get the project even going. Fast forward two weeks,l I call them only to find out that manager was fired, and I now have to basically start again discussing the whole project with a new individual. After being told FOUR times that I would get an invoice that showed a breakdown of the project, I was sent an invoice literally just asking for thousands of dollars, with the only description being "reconstruction". This has been months and months of dealing with their inability to just be human. Like another post discussed, these guys are taking bids they can't manage, or at least start for weeks or even months. Their turnover is likely high because of the way the company is run. Moving into the work...and guess what? They didn't do it. They SUBCONTRACTED almost the entire job. Saving a TON of money, then upcharged me on every single item. They charged 5 times what it cost for some of the material, then wanted to tell me they weren't really making money on the job. If it's one thing I HATE about companies like this, the blatant lying. Had I known that some low-budget contract company (THAT IS ACTUALLY FROM OREGON ALREADY...this will make more sense below) was going to do the work, why wouldn't I just have hired them myself you dumba$$holes. But again, thank you so much for screwing my family so your company and upper bosses can bank those bonuses. Then we get to the way they charge. This is a company that posted a double-digit-million-dollar revenue last year alone, and nickel and dime everything to screw the customer. They also add their corporate tax charge to residents in Oregon, because apparently in addition to being terrible at their jobs, they are also terrible people. Borderline scam artists. But it's fine, line your pockets and treat people like pawns to get ahead. SAVE YOURSELF SOME TIME. FIND ANOTHER COMPANY THAT WILL TREAT YOU RIGHT AND DOESN'T HAVE SO MANY RED FLAGS. I gave the demo process of our job 5 stars! But after the Paul Davis Portland/Vancouver company got paid for the demo portion of my reconstruction job by Allstate, they dropped me this week. Left me in a lurch looking for contractors to finish what they promised they would work on...from beginning to end. I was told by the Paul Davis company that they would take care of the process, every step of the way. From demo, to restoration. I had nothing to worry about. They got this. I trusted them. Now I have an unusable bathroom and a stripped down laundry room. I believe in business, a promise made should be a promise kept. Not, we promise to do your job from A to Z....unless something bigger comes along. I am not fat to be cut, I am a homeowner and a human. My house may not be much to your huge franchise, but to me...my home is everything. Trust is everything when you let people into your life and your home. And you have let me down. You have disappointed me in so many ways, and completely upturned my life. I have never heard of a restoration company leaving a house in shambles like this. I am not exaggerating when I say this is hands down the WORST experience I have ever had with any professional company. Ever. If you are considering hiring this company, RUN in the other direction. ANYone would be better than this complete disaster of an organization. 1) Their communication is abysmal. The sales guy who comes to bid is full of promises, none of which is fulfilled after you sign a contract. The Project Manager never responds to any calls or emails. They promise to come out, no show, and *I* had to be the one to reach out and ask what is going on. "We got behind on another project" or "Someone got sick" or "We need to call to confirm something else" were common excuses after multiple no shows. 2) Customer Service is non existent. They are never wrong, never apologize, and - in fact - try to spin the blame to us. Going up the ladder doesn't help, they just make more excuses. 3) They don't follow through communicating with the insurance company. Their whole schtick is that they know how to work with insurance claims. Yet my adjuster had to continue to ask *me* to get Paul Davis to respond to his emails. Do not be like me and assume that all the complaints about Paul Davis are from people who don't know how to manage a project. Read the reviews. Believe the bad experiences from other users. Terrible communication, and I have been repeatedly lied to about timelines for having a team sent out for basic water mitigation services. I spoke with a project manager the night of my burst pipe, and was told that we could arrange a demolition team to remove the wet carpet and drywall in six or seven days. When I was finally assigned a project manager, he said that we would have a team out "in the coming week" - which would have been 6-11 days after the burst. It was at this point, and with this understanding, that I was asked to sign a contract for their mitigation services. Now he is telling me that the earliest date is 16 days after the burst, a week after the timeline he had given me before. The worst thing is that he told me he would schedule me on the evening after the site visit, but it turns out that he did not even try to schedule for another four days, no reason given. He now tells me that dealing with mold is likely. Further, I offered the remove the carpet myself a week ago and he convinced me to wait and have his people do it. I understand that they are busy right now, but I feel that they have been completely dishonest, and had they been honest about timelines upfront then I surely would not have used their company. I intend to pursue a formal complaint with the Washington Department of Labor & Industries. read more

So I moved into a basement turned adu right and right off the bat I have a leak somewhere in d foundation wall outside my bedroom cause first rain of the year we get water just like that, so these guys come out take out a 3×10 piece of drywall some insulation and the flooring in my bedroom, and my hallway threw out my house to the front door! K that was like 6 weeks ago they haven't been back to do anything since then they came with a little mold teaster one time to tell me good no mold, but no one has came to fix anything at all I keep asking but they keep stalling. The first day when Walter came I asked how long ya think this Is gonna take he said this is probably a 1-2 day job! That was almost 7 weeks ago know! Paul Davis Restoration All started with the water line to our refrigerator leaking all over the kitchen floor in the middle of the night on July 1st.. First couple of weeks the employees were at our house almost daily to first remove moisture and then remove affected flooring and toe kicks under the cabinets. Very informative and prompt. After that things pretty much came to a screeching snail crawl. Waited several weeks for the crew to replace the sub flooring they removed to get replaced and the floor prepped before installing. Within days we selected new flooring. Then it was the waiting game for installers to install the flooring and had to wait a couple more weeks to get the toe kicks and 1/4 round molding replaced and another wait to furniture moved back into place. This project took 3 1/2 months to be completed. On top of that it took almost 2 weeks waiting for 1/4 round stain to get matched. The stain does not even come close to matching and the ends of the 1/4 round were not cut at an angle like the original molding was. read more

I had a significant water loss from a severe thunderstorm in SW Washington. We hired a roofer to put in a new roof. They remove the old roof and covered the roof with high end roofing sealing paper. A freak storm came up that was so severe that it lifted the paper off the roof causing many leaks through our roof. The roofer came and put plastic over it but it was too late. Paul Davis sent Shane the next morning. He took moisture readings throughout our home. It was wet. He deployed many air movers and dehumidifiers through the house and attic. Over the next week they came twice a day, taking readings and adjusting the equipment. Each time they came, they were courteous and friendly. The results they achieved were amazing. They completely dried the entire house and did not have to do any repairs! Wow! Thanks to Shawn, our roofer for his fast response to cover the roof and to Shane and the amazing Paul Davis team who dried out our home. I recommend Paul Davis highly as a capable and competent company. If I ever have another incident, I will call Paul Davis. read more

Amazing company to work with! We recently had a water pipe break in our crawl space. After a plumber repaired the pipe, Paul Davis had a crew out immediately to clean up the mess, remove wet insulation, and dry out the area. They are really "full service", as they were able to come back after the drying and re-install new insulation! Terrible communication, no follow up unless you call 3-4 times. I can't comment on their work because all they did was give me the runaround, left a dehumidifier for several days after they were supposed to pick it up, and waited six weeks to say there was no debris to move because everything was dry. It was dry because they let it sit for six weeks! Now I have to hire someone else to remove the water damaged ceiling and repair the wall after waiting for these jokers to do nothing. Unfortunately I had horrible service with this company. I had to change project managers because of inappropriate behavior. We had problems with people being in my closet and opening up our utility area/garage without permission and had to get a new project manager as a result. These project managers have no communication and show up unexpectedly or sometimes not at all. They ruined and damaged my property and lied about appliances being clean and able to use. Specifically a very expensive toilet that is still covered in septic waste and unable to use. Some people in this company are more professional than others but I have had the experience of meeting the most unprofessional people to restore my house in my life. Do not work with them. Run as far and as fast as possible, even if recommended/pushed by your insurance company. We had a toilet overflow in our home and Safeco/Liberty Mutual connected us with Paul Davis. They no showed on appointments. Refused to provide a statement of work on their letter head. Wanted me to sign a contract that would say I was liable for any costs that insurance didn't cover. I refused to sign that without a statement of what work they planned to do. They just wanted a blank check. We never signed any statement of work or approved any work to be done. They billed and were paid $564 dollars by my insurance for doing nothing. Paul Davis, why don't you send me a check for the $564 dollars that you stole from me(it is my insurance, not yours), you were never approved to do anything. Little alone you did nothing! You are a thief! Will be filing a complaint with the Oregon Attorney General and CCB on this matter within the next 2 weeks. Your chance to make it right. Update 5/12/2024: Have provided my information over a private message on 5/5/2024 to PD. Have not heard anything back. Guess AG and CCB will be my next step next week. Paul Davis helped us in our extensive multi-room remodel.The entire project was executed during the pandemic with all the attendant problems. The Paul Davis crew was terrific; Julian, Zack, Kelley and especially Nathan; all supervised by the "magnificent two", Steve C and Steve K. The crew was always punctual . Covid safe, and very professional. The work site was cleaned at the end of every shift and the rooms were taped and sealed from the remainder of the house; and, floors covered and protected. Their primary goal was to keep us happy including referrals to vendors allowing us to choose carpet, paint, hardware etc.; and, very important, easy accommodation of all our change orders. The final product was beautiful and met all our expectations, which were high. Finally, the cost was very important to me. We were given a detailed and reasonably priced estimate; the final all-in cost did not deviate from the original estimate. No surprises, no covid excuses for increased cost. We are very pleased with all aspects of our experience with Paul Davis and we recommend their services highly. Your project could not be in better hands. read more

I had my water pipe break under my kitchen sink on October 9, 2021. We contacted Paul Davis to do the water mitigation and restoration. It took 3 weeks to get the house dry so work could start to remodel the interior. While replacing the sheetrock they broke a 2nd pipe under my sink. Finally got to choose cabinet, flooring, countertop and paint. Was told the job would start January 14th and they would be done by February 18th. Well the first project manager royally screwed up and tried to screw us on the carpeting at first but got it corrected. After my brother having to yell at the general manager of Paul Davis not once, but 3 times before the project manager was let go from the project. The new crew fixed all of the mistakes from the original crew and the project was finally done on May 12th. Word to the wise use a different company so it gets done in a timely matter and done correctly the first time. Paul Davis truly is not a good company to use and would and never will ever recommend them to anyone ever again. They said it would take anywhere from 2-4 months, it took them 7 months to get it done. Very disappointing in Paul Davis. read more

The drain pan for the condensation from our AC unit developed a crack. Ended up having a slow leak down a chase on to our kitchen floor. We didn't notice it right way so it created some significant damage to the walls of our kitchen and our stamped concrete floor. Unfortunately we had to file an insurance claim and we contacted Paul Davis Restoration to help us with our property damage. Paul Davis provided great and timely service. They were out within a couple of hours of us calling. Cody Parsley was the mitigation PM and he was great to work with. Knows his stuff, communicated with our insurance company directly, clearly communicated with us what was going to happen. We had to have guys remove some insulation in the crawl space, unfortunately remove our stamped duracrete floors along with with drywall. They were quick to get the work done, clean and communicated throughout the project. I would use them again for sure... but hopefully I don't need them again :) read more

I had interior flooding in my home when my washing machine, which is located upstairs, tipped over while running. The flooding went into a little-used upstairs guest room and down into our living room and basement. We were referred to Paul Davis Restoration (Portland/Vancouver) by Allstate Insurance Company. The water remediation work done by Paul Davis was good. They responded quickly and handled the flooding professionally, working daily in our home for a couple weeks. The positive things I have to say about Paul Davis end there. About a week after the remediation team finished their work and left, my family and I went on a two-night camping trip. Our house was burglarized during the time we were out of town and many items of jewelry with tremendous emotional value to my family were stolen. Our alarm was on when we were burglarized. The thief entered through a second story window to avoid triggering the alarm. The entry was through a window that was left unlocked by Paul Davis employees in the little-used guest room in which they were working. I believe it was a Paul Davis employee, or someone associated with a Paul Davis employee who broke into our home. The owner and HR person from Paul Davis at first paid great lip service to the fact that nobody wanted to get to the bottom of this situation more than them and said they would help in any way they could. At the end of the day, they weren't even willing to give me a list of names of employees who were in my home, citing "privacy concerns." It has now become our family policy to request a list of names of people working in our home from all subcontractors. I asked the head of HR at Paul Davis if she would have given me the list of names had I asked before hiring their company. She sent me back a condescending email saying that she understood how upset I was, but not answering my question. They did give the list of names to the police, who have done little to nothing with it. I am in the process of trying to obtain the list from the police. I followed up with the officer assigned to our break-in and he told me that after doing criminal history checks there was one person of interest on that list. To me, that means that Paul Davis absolutely sent a criminal into my home. I wouldn't wish this nightmarish situation on anyone. When you are faced with an emergency situation in your home, it is easy to feel like you have to work with the first person who is able to come help you. I deeply regret choosing Paul Davis in this manner and I can't recommend them. read more

If anyone is reading this please be careful what you are getting yourself into with this company. They are ruthless ambulance chasers and will lie to your face over and over again to get what they want. Paul Davis Restoration, I think you have forgotten the kind of person I am. You have had 3 years working with me to know I only wanted this project to go smoothly with no drama or unexpected stress. I am of course going to be giving checks to you but you know I absolutely do not have 20 thousand dollars just to hand over right away. Especially when it is well past our contract amount. We still have money being held by the mortgage Company due to unfinished work on their last visit to do the final inspection. They still have not been in contact with me to come back out. But of course I'm sure that the responsibility of that will be put on me when it was your fault things were not finished when they were here. Does that mean you will continue to foreclose right away? You started this threatening process when you decided to put a lien on my home without talking to me first so we could have an understanding to go over the final invoice and create a plan. Especially when your excuse was that the insurance adjuster hadn't gotten back to you within a week. Which then you once again reassured me that this is just a regular business process and you would never move forward with foreclosure. Your company took 3 years to rebuild my house?! The only reason things have dragged out this long is because you took that long on the project and now I am being bullied to agree to things without a proper meeting to go over expenses. This project was never supposed to turn into such a nightmare. You promised me over and over you had your eye on limits and we would not go over them and stick me with a large bill I cannot cover. There are still unfinished projects around the home that i have repeatedly told your employees and they are very aware of. Is that considered a finished project? We never did a final walk through either?! You just sent a final invoice and placed a lien on my home. I have already had it taken from me suddenly once along with every belonging I had. I am still trying to heal and move forward from that experience. Which due to your choices in taking so long to finish my home it seems to never end. Why would you threaten someone who has just put every ounce of their being into getting their life back after such an unexpected and traumatic experience? You have completely broken my trust and put me and my two boys' security of a home in danger. I don't think you understand how hard I had to work to own a home for me and my boys, or how difficult it is to do everything on your own. The stress and physical effects of that stress this company has caused me for the last three years has been entirely too much for me. I gave Paul Davis understanding and trust and respected all your employees after continuously being put on the back burner during the entire process. Putting an inexperienced employee in charge of the project in the beginning has continuously forced me to pay for his mistakes because the cost to do it properly as it should have been done in the first place is too great. I have been completely taken advantage of because I am a soft spoken unknowledgeable female by Paul Davis and it has been an absolute nightmare that no thanks to you seems to never end. This situation is well beyond my knowledge of what to expect or what to do next. Sitting down and going over the final invoice seemed like a logical next step. I would also think it a customary step in the process as a reputable company. Yet you refuse. You are comfortable with threatening to foreclose and that it will happen soon and it will cause me more fines to get the lien resolved but you are not giving me an actual timeline. On thanksgiving morning our water heater broke and leaked water all over our dining room damaging a lot of the flooring causing great distress to me and my husband. We just bought our first home and this incident was another headache piling up. We were recommended Paul Davis through a friend of a friend and when we called they were very quick to respond and we had an appointment for an estimator ready in no time. They helped us deal with our homeowners insurance and we were able to get a decent amount of money to help cover the costs of the damage done by the water heater. Due to our insurance not being able to cover the whole cost of the work needed to be done at our home, we at the end did not go with Paul Davis services and do it ourselves as we couldn't afford the difference but they helped us tremendously and we are very thankful to them. My husband & I will be forever grateful to Paul Davis & his team. We had severe smoke damage to our foodcart & many restoration companies in Clark County flat out told us they don't work on food carts & other "big ones" did no shows like we weren't worth it. Kevin, one of the major leads came out ASAP & really did his best to keep us in a goal range. This company's communication was top notch. They also communicated through texts, emails or phone calls. I was very impressed. They had to work much longer than expected, but did not go over their initial quote. This company is more confused about operations than a politician. During our water mitigation disaster they could not keep appointments or even notify me when they could or couldn't show up at my house to do actual work. If it wasn't for our main contact Alex I would have told PD to come get their equipment in the middle of the drying out and asked my insurance company to provide another company. Even after all the work was "completed" the billing fiasco began. The bill was split up and my insurance adjuster put some of their money in with my payout for my contractor...not a problem. I called to pay what I would owe and was told by PD "no what you owe is less" so paid this amount. 2 weeks later comes the email you still owe us for the remaining balance.....once again lack of communication with in the office with the staff. Not once did I dispute I owed that amount, but to put it back on me like I made the mistake is wrong. NEVER doing business with PD again. read more
