My 2 stars goes to the remediation team. I give 0 stars for restoration, which was mostly a waste of my time. Paul Davis was hired by my insurance company to do work on my home involving a kitchen leak that caused damage to my floors through the ceiling below. Jordan came in, took moisture readings, and provided a quality consultation. He took a lot of photos and measurements. The expectation set was that they would take 3-4 days to remove damaged materials and dry it out. By that 3rd/4th day, they would assess the full damage and begin working with insurance. They were supposed to refinish my flooring, replace the damaged cabinet, replace sheetrock, and paint. I was told they would pack up the rest of my stuff and store it while this was happening. This was ballpark - a 2 month project. The remediation part went OK at the end of December. It took longer than expected, it seems due to poor communication. They didn't schedule someone to disconnect the gas from the stove or a granite specialist to remove the countertops the first day. They found someone to disconnect the stove day 2 but not the counters so they did them themselves and broke a backsplash. They were there longer than expected because the coordinator didn't know to schedule them for certain days. At the end, they took a lot of photos and measurements. They removed and threw out the cabinet (it wasn't salvageable), though they stipulated that they *should* have saved the cabinet doors and facing to make replacement easier. I asked them to save the hardware and they said they did but lost it. Jordan took one of my cabinet doors and told me they would match it as close as possible. They were supposed to replace the damaged insulation but didn't until my house started to get very cold and the insurance company learned work they paid for wasn't done. They sent someone to quickly add it. After a month (possibly more) I learned that they submitted replacing all of my counters to insurance, which was rejected because only one was damaged. They told me they could only work with me on correcting the floors and sheetrock because they don't do restoration for cabinets. I complained to the insurance company who hired them. The adjuster made a call and I was told that Paul Davis was going to take care of me. They sent a project manager who came to be the third person to take a lot of photos and measurements. After 3-4 weeks (about 2 months after they gutted my kitchen), I got a quotation that didn't detail all of the necessary repair work. I asked questions and had to follow up a few times to get a response. They had difficulty giving me a timeframe and ultimately was told another 6-8 weeks would pass before they began work. They claimed some of it was because they didn't know about some aspects early on, but they did as they sent 2 other people here to assess it previously. They also told me that my insurance rejected packaging and moving my belongings. The insurance company said it wasn't even submitted to them because they would've approved it. In fact, they DID approve it later on. Someone from restoration called to ask me why I hadn't signed the contract yet and I detailed my challenges with what had happened thus far, and having to be displaced an additional 2 months. She said something to the extent of us not being a match. It honestly felt like they didn't want me as a customer the moment they learned it was a smaller project. I'm now acting as my own contractor and the floors were done a week later; all other work is scheduled to be done soon. Also, they lost my hardware. Edit to add: I see the owner's response. I did discuss all of these challenges on the phone directly, no support was offered. I have moved on. read more

On Jun1 1st, 2025 I filed a claim for water damage after a refrigerator repair went bad, Paul Davis out of Hampton NH was recommended my Liberty Mutual for the Dry-Out and they did a decent job. So, I hired them to also do the Restoration, also in June but at the time, they let me know it would likely take 2 months before they could start because of the backlog of projects. But they dropped the ball in August by not following the claims request properly with Liberty mutual resulting in a month delay so we expecting to now start the job in September, but they dropped the ball again on ordering the materials leading to another month delay. Finally, I got a notice that they would start the job on Oct. 20th at 8:00am but at noon I called them since no one showed up and they said they had a truck issue and would stary on Tuesday 10/21 at 8:00am, but again no one showed up, at 10:30am a Hertz rental truck showed up with 2 men who spoke zero English. I did my best to communicate with them but the only word they could speak in English was floor. They called their boss on the phone who was a subcontractor and he let me know they were here to do the setup. I asked who was going to provide these men instructions and was told that he would be out to my place tomorrow. So I went inside, called Paul Davis, spoke to RJ the project Manager, who seems to think it was not an issue that they could speak zero English and could not verify if these men were even legally able to work in NH, USA and he said he would check. In the 5 minutes it took to have that call, the 2 men unloaded the wood flooring and left. Later that day, I got a Text from the Project Manager, RJ, that the contractor would not be showing up on Wednesday 10/22 as they needed to find a new crew and would be in touch. On Wed, 10/22 I called Nathan McCuster, the GM, who also had no issue with the fact that they outsourced work to illegal aliens but would look into the project and call me back on Thursday with a plan. On Thurs, 10/23, after 5 months of waiting to start the restoration, Nathan McCuster called me back to let me know they would refund the downpayment and they were no longer interested in completing the project. I asked for a reason and they said, they didn't have to give me one, stating this was just no longer a good fit for them. So, now I am having to start the process of locating a vendor to do the restoration after wasting everyone time for the past 5 months. Paul Davis is Unreliable, operating with contractors that sub out work to illegal Aliens, and completely unprofessional in their communications, commitment, and piss poor customer service. read more

We had a major water incident well over a year now, and while the abatement team were quick and responsive the team out of North Hampton have truly proven to be a total waste of time. They outsource everything to third parties and do little to no follow up. We still don't have our bathroom completed and being a family of 5 sharing a single bathroom is unbelievable. The only time we ever get any follow up is when we call the office, and that's if they take our call. Everything is an excuse, and I'm tired of it. Avoid at all costs. read more

We had a flood in our basement apartment on New Years Eve. The team came out immediately and began remediation. They were well prepared and professional. They removed all of the water quickly. Project manager Carolle was assigned to us since we required a full demolition of floors and some walls. She assessed that damage and knew exactly what needed to be done. She went over and above to insure that it was completed quickly and efficiently. She communicated with us throughout the process. If we had questions, she called us back within 30 minutes if could not take our call immediately. We could not have been more pleased with Carolle and the team. We are grateful that Allstate sent them out for us. read more

Absolute worst - BEWARE! We had water damage in our house due to a broken second floor pipe and our insurance company gave us several names for mitigation. We chose Paul Davis of So. NH and Maine which has turned out to be one of the worst decisions of our lives. I have been in the commercial construction business for over 35 years. I have NEVER encountered a more unprofessional and mismanaged group than Paul Davis. After the initial walk-through of the damaged space, it took them many weeks to get started and they stopped before completing all the mitigation. Our insurance company had to hire a 3rd party adjuster to visit our house. This adjuster was amazed that PD did not do the full mitigation and instructed the insurance company that the full mitigation in the claim needed to be completed. Their rude/unprofessional "Production Manager" actually said, (and I'm not making this up), "you expect us to go back in to do more mitigation?!" They finally, reluctantly went back to the house and finished the job. Many more weeks were lost before they even began the restoration phase, which was also painful. We visited the house & saw that the kitchen cabinets were not installed properly. The Project Manager told us that it was due to "electrical and plumbing code issues" (hoping we wouldn't question it further). When I respectfully asked for more information, he finally admitted that the wrong cabinets were delivered so they just installed what showed up. The kitchen work was never fully finished and they said they would complete that work when they came back to do the bathroom area (hint: they never came back!) We had to live away from the house during kitchen construction for over SEVEN months & when we returned, our house was dirty, unclean with half-eaten food bags (and now mice droppings everywhere because of it) in our living room, paint stains on floors in other rooms, broken glass swept under a bookcase, a valuable antique walking stick from our living room somehow on the front lawn, carpet remnants in our front bushes, nails/screws, other material on our driveway, and urine stains on the second floor toilet and floor. When we asked how this happened, the Project Manager said he would "talk to his guys". No apologies. They used our home vacuum cleaner without permission and destroyed it. When advised of this, the in-house "Production Manager" rudely & sarcastically told us she would send us $49 because she "googled vacuums and prices" on the internet. So finally, after almost EIGHT MONTHS, they sent us a contract to finish the bathroom. We emailed them, respectfully, to please take better care of the house this time as our daughter is home from college and we only have the one working bathroom and we have cleaned the house completely from their first phase of work. Their disrespectful Production Manager & Project Manager responsible for this mess replied and said they are just going to walk away from the job. They voided the contract. This a college-level case study on how not to run a business. They were rude, unprofessional, and incompetent. Because of their actions this may best be settled in court...including payment for the removal/reinstallation of the cabinets they incorrectly installed, cost of additional offsite housing, any additional costs for the bathroom reconstruction, hiring someone to finish the items they left undone in the kitchen (and were paid for), hiring a cleaning company to clean up the mess they left throughout our house...and more. To top it off, my wife lost her brother & father, and is caring for her mother in hospice all while these people at Paul Davis have made our lives even more miserable....and we still have a gutted, non-usable, unfinished bathroom that they left behind. Our insurance company has been apologizing for having given us their name and we will make darn sure that other people and insurance companies know of our experience with Paul Davis Restoration of Southern NH and ME and that we wouldn't recommend them to our worst enemies. Our insurance company recommended Paul Davis Restoration to repair our home after storm damage. Paul Davis was quick to submit an estimate, our insurance approved everything, and a check was issued ten days after the damage occurred. Paul Davis Restoration kept having issues with their estimate. Our insurance company was great, quickly approved changes and issued three different checks. It has been over two months, and now Paul Davis Restoration has just now notified us that they are not capable of completing our repair work. We have had a large hole in our roof and no access to the front of our home for months. Unprofessionally, they blame the project manager for mishandling our case because he was new. They fail to take accountability for their inability to properly delegate tasks to capable employees. I do not recommend this business. read more

I had a partial flooding of my basement at the end of March 2019. After being treated like a moron on the phone talking to the tech who wouldn't come out that night they did come out the next day. It went down hill from there and they still have not finished the work. The work they have done I think is questionable but I am not sure. They come out every few weeks to perform about 15 to 30 minutes of work and then don't come back for another two to three weeks. They say I live in a remote area so I really cant expect better service and they have much bigger jobs that seem to take priority. I wish I had time to write more but it would be just wasting my time. Just be aware the reviews on here about this company are right on. Giving them two stars would be over kill. read more

We had a water leak in out basement while we were out of town. The insurance company sent Paul Davis to do the restoration. They dropped off fans a dehumidifier but did not removed no wet debris. The dehumidifier drain was left on the basement floor pumping the water back into the basement. After calling with concerns over wet insulation I was told that it was their responsibility to remove the wet debris. They never showed for the scheduled appointment and didn't even call to notify us. I ended up pulling the insulation and debris out side. I even loaded on a trailer and moved the debris to the front for them. It wasn't a very positive experience. The as hard as it was to pay the bill, I was told that there was a 3.5% processing fee to pay by credit card. The 2 stars is for the friendly staff I dealt with. This company is awful. They want to do as little work as possible and charge ridiculous amounts of money for it. We had water damage inside the house due to a storm. Our insurance company came out, started an estimate, and recommended Paul Davis Restoration. I give Paul Davis one star because they came immediately when our insurance guy called and they set up a dehumidifier. They said it would take a few days to get back to me with an estimate. The next day I got the estimate from my insurance company - about $700. The water was limited to one small area in our upstairs hall. Since our deductible is $1000 we told our insurance that obviously we would just pay the bill ourselves. Then the next day someone from Paul Davis called and quoted $708 and change. I said great, please come as soon as possible. After two more days a technician showed up and told us that he would tear down the damaged drywall and insulation and that's it - we would be left with exposed walls, no drywall, no insulation. What?? The estimate from our insurance shows $700 to pull out the drywall, replace that and the insulation, and then paint everything. The tech from Paul Davis explained that the quote of $708 was only for renting the dehumidifier and removing any damaged drywall. I told them that the woman on the phone asked me what type of insulation we had, so why would she ask that if they weren't going to replace it? And why did my insurance company say it would cost about $700 to do the whole job? The tech would not agree to any more work so we asked him to leave and we would pay only for renting the dehumidifier. Then we got the bill for the dehumidifier-$650!!!! Because they couldn't get here to take it away for four days, so I have to pay for each days rental. And I guess the rest of the job as only going to be $58?. When they called with the estimate I told them that the machine was pulling nothing but air after the first hour or two. She told me to just turn it off and they would pick it up when they came to do the job. I wish I had insisted they pick it up that day. I am sick to my stomach about this whole mess. We eventually got a reputable contractor who did the whole job beautifully for about $400. He took the time to match the paint perfectly so it looks like nothing even happened. Please do yourself a favor and AVOID Paul Davis Restoration at all costs. They have ZERO integrity. If you DO use them, please be smarter than me and insist on a written estimate which shows EVERYTHING they will do for that price. Unfortunately I think we are going to have to take them to court to resolve this. Please beware of this place. read more

Overall a very painful, difficult experience, insulting experience. Payment issues arose when the contracted work was changed several times and caused me and everyone else confusion, which caused payment confusion and delay. Simple thing for a company like this to fix with a little touch and approach, maybe a couple calls or some clear direction or email laying out the line by line differences......right?, but none offered. Just nasty calls that eventually got me to lose my cool and stress me out...... Even when calmly asking for help, they refused, said they explained enough and don't know why I didn't understand. Really all in all just made to feel like a nuisance. It's hard enough to make money in this world, save yours and use another firm. I am surprised more word of mouth hasn't spread on this place....I am sure it will. In addition their contractors are not very happy with them, complain about slave wages. One even told me that they were made to do jobs to keep busy, pay for their own supplies and their rate didn't even cover the cost of the materials being used and applied to the fixes-part of having a predictable flow of work from these guys. At first I was skeptical of the story......and its cut throat nature. But after the issues experienced I think they were telling the truth about this firm. It's too bad too. I have a huge job on a new renovation project where I need a remediation project skillset to estimate the end end fix of a home, not an inspector or contractor. Instead of fighting about a few hundred bucks out of tens of thousands they might have gotten this job and made a much better deal. This is probably a 50-70K job. Suffice it to say this won't be were I look for the expertise or professional firm needed for such a big project. They are not geared to be customer oriented. read more

After reading some of the reviews, I was hesitant using Paul Davis Restoration, but our insurance company recommended them. We were dealing with water damage on three floors from a sink overflow. Paul Davis provided quick service in a very professional manner. They set up fans and dehumidifiers right away. Juan and Dana were our main service techs and they were great! They informed us of the process every step of the way. All the demo required was done promptly and correctly. All areas were then vacuumed and cleaned. Avoid this company at all costs! I wish I read the previous reviews before wasting 6 months trying to get them to repair some water damage in my home. Paul Davis came recommended to me by my plumber so I hired them for to complete the work in my home. It took them almost 5 months to get me an accurate estimate. They needed to have people come to my home 5x to assess the damage because the right hand does not talk to the left with this company. I was given excuse after excuse as to why they couldn't give me an estimate. Eventually after many months of excuses (family emergency, weather conditions, the flu went around the office etc etc...), they finally provided me with an accurate estimate whereupon I signed an electronic contract for the work to be completed. Two days later I emailed them to say I needed to postpone the work for a few days because I was having unexpected house guests that coming during the holidays. I was told that would be no problem. When I tried to reschedule, I was ignored for a week. I continued to inquire about rescheduling my job and I was told to take me business elsewhere! So I have now invested 6 months of time having person after person come through my home to look at the damage and they will not do the work, even after I signed a contract. We had an Ice Dam issue that was in the corner of the bedroom. Our insurance company sent Paul/Davis to do the cleanup. That involved ripping a wall out, removing the insulation and setting up fans to dry the area up. Also the hardwood floors were soaked and they set up their equipment to dry the floors out. In the unfinished basement, they removed the insulation to dry those walls up too. After they pulled there equipment out, they put up new insulation and put up a plastic covering. They couldn't do the finish work because they were out of NH and in Mass they weren't licensed. But that was OK with us because we had our own people for that task. I will say the guys that came to the house initially and on follow up were very thorough in their work, courteous and professional. Pleasant to talk with too. We had a water leak damage a bedroom wall.. Paul Davis Restoration had remediated a pipe burst in my neighbors house last winter so I thought I would give them a call before any other company. They came out first thing the morning I called and demo'd the damage and set up dryers and dehumidifiers right away. They did a great job. Our technician,, Liam, was responsive, professional, and very careful with our property. We are using them to complete the restoration of the room and look forward to continued great quality work. read more

Please do not use these people. I had a flood in my house and they did the restoration work. it was the worst, mismanaged company I have ever worked with. They tried to reuse water damaged ceiling tiles in my basement . I could go on and on about paint splatters in my kitchen, chandeliers hanging by a thread, etc. Overall, they outsource everything to contractors--The contractors who will accept the lowest bid/pay because they are splitting it with Paul Davis. Therefore, you get the bottom of the barrel contractors, HVACs, etc. Also, there is no management of these contractors..so you have people coming and going in your house all day that are subcontracted from PD. I found this company right on the cusp of being fraudulent. Please do not use these people..save yourself the headache. read more
